I'm seeing many 3-4 star reviews from fellow Yelpers and I keep thinking that perhaps my experience was a singular one. The two stars I'm giving here is for the restaurant itself. This restaurant looks great. There is a nice counter area to order, a really nice seating area inside and even outdoor seating. Some of the decor makes you feel like you're in a household's kitchen. By the cashier there is a table you can wait at complete with local newspapers. It's very charming. This was my first visit and I ordered my food to go. I had two key dishes. The first was hummus with falafel, which is very standard for me whenever I go to any Mediterranean place. When I opened the take out box at home I was really surprised. Most places give you a good amount of hummus, but here it was basically a thin layer. Kind of like a layer of mayo on a sandwich (maybe a tad thicker). Then on top of the hummus was a huge layer of pickled vegetables and tiny pickles. This was a surprise. I've had hummus orders from a lot of restaurants before and I've *never* seen this on an order before. Then the falafel balls were on top and well...they were really dry and didn't have much flavor. Now, sometimes you can cover that up by just coating the falafel in hummus, but there wasn't enough hummus to do that. The dish was just disappointing all around. The other dish I tried were the Lemon Potatoes. They were good! The lemon flavor was strong and they were cooked well. Not the best example in the area, but they would do in a pinch. At some point I'll give this place another try. Maybe this was a fluke (at least I hope so). read more

Food was okay overall. The souvlaki was a bit too salty for my taste -- and when something is overly salty, it usually means the flavors underneath aren't standing on their own. But honestly, that was minor compared to the real issue. Everything was packed into one container for the family platter. By the time we got home, the fries and pita had turned to complete mush. The grilled grape tomatoes, tzatziki, hummus, onions, and all the juices from the meat were piled right on top of the pita and fries, then sealed up so it all steamed together. The result? A soggy, congealed mess. At the very least, the pitas should be wrapped separately -- even if the fries can't be saved. This packaging just doesn't make sense. When I opened the container, it felt like I ordered Greek soup in an aluminum pan, not a platter. Never again. read more

We've been coming here for over two years and the consistency in flavors, portion size, and friendly staff is unmatched. For my family of 3, we usually order the East Meat West platter and an order of the feta fries. All of the items in the platter are hot, fresh, and flavorful. Looking at the picture I attached, it's truly hard to tell just how much food they pack into that platter. Falafel, grape leaves, two kinds of meat, pita, tzatziki, hummus, rice and coleslaw! We love the beef gyro meat paired with the tzatziki and pita! Even with three adults we have lots of leftovers for the next day. Been obsessed, dare I say, POSSESSED, by loukaniko lately so I had to try out this place. I got the country sausage plate that comes with the large beans and a pita. The beans were yummy. The pita was EXCELLENT!! But the sausage was meh. The flavor wasn't bold and garlicky. AND they had large chunks of inedible whatever in the sausage that I had to spit out. I definitely put off by that. I was disappointed. Despite all that though, the fast-casual place was super clean, nicely decorated, and there was ample seating inside and outside. This place is delicious, affordable, and fresh. I went a bit outside my comfort zone with the Greek food and it was well worth it. For someone who isn't the biggest fan of vegetables, it was intimidating! I ordered a beef and lamb Smart Bowl. The toppings I got were feta cheese, capers, fries, and tzatziki sauce. Every ingredient tasted so fresh and well prepared. The Greek salad was unbelievably good and I don't even like salads. This salad is my exception. The portion size is also a plus! Stumbled upon this restaurant on Uber Eats and all I have to say is WOW!!! The food is incredible. My Greek salad was delicious with the freshest, sweetest grape tomatoes I've had in a while. I added gyro meat to the salad and it was perfect. I also highly recommend adding caramelized onions...they hit the spot! The pita bread that came with my order was unlike your run-of-the-mill, dry, stale, bready pita. It was perfectly grilled with the perfect balance between chewiness and crispness. The Greek iced coffee I ordered with the meal is great too. Not overly sweet (ordered it that way), and wonderfully frothed. What an unexpected pleasant experience! I was looking for a healthy lunch option after attending a nearby appointment. Souvlaqueria came highly suggested on Yelp, and now I see why! Parking was a breeze. The experience starts with the curb appeal. There is a cozy outdoor seating area at the entrance. We were warmly greeted as soon as we came in and given time to make our selections. We selected the lamb and a salad. I was able to make modifications to the salad and ask for the vinaigrette on the side. We dined in (in an impeccably clean dining area), and our food was brought to us when ready. It had been awhile since our last visit, and while I knew I loved the place, I forgot how much! When we arrived, there was no woit. We walked up, ordered our usual East Meat West platter and feta fries, grabbed our own sodas and chose a table in the corner. Despite all the windows, it was toasty inside. The young man we ordered from brought out our plates and utensils in no time. Soon thereafter, our platter arrived. The chicken souvlaki was mouthwatering, the grape leaves pleasantly tangy, and the falafel - fried balls of goodness! The fries came out soon after, and they looked so good we breaked from our feeding frenzy to savor a few fresh ones covered with cheese and fresh herbs. Love this fast casual Greek spot for a tasty, satisfying meal. While the menu is extensive, my husband and I always love ordering both the small mixed platter and dip sampler to share. The mixed platter has a nice variety of flavorful meats, and the portion size ends up being a generous amount for two people plus some leftovers. The platter could use some more sauce/tzatziki to balance all the meats and fries though, which is where the dip platter comes in perfectly. If this was just a review of the food, it would be 5 stars. Really authentic feeling green food. 3 people shared the big mixed grill and a Greek salad and we had plenty left over to bring home. The mixed grill looks really impressive coming out - a huge platter of meats! When you dig in, your realize the looks are a bit deceptive, as it's actually piled on a huge base of French fries. Still lots of food and all really tasty. Surprisingly, of the meats, the chicken souvlaki was everyone's favorite. The pork gyro meat was also popular. The kids menu was unique and you could tell lots of thought went into it. And what kid doesn't love a side of apples with honey to dip? Now for a couple reasons why this review is 4 stars instead of 5. First, as mentioned in other reviews, they are really weird about water. They flat out refuse to offer tap water (and got upset about us even asking), trying to make a little extra on bottles. Second issue was in the restroom (single room, unisex) - no toilet seat! Not a big deal for me, but definitely not ideal for my 6 year old daughter. Anyway, nothing that should keep folks away from some of the best, reasonably priced, Greek food I e had in the area. Was in the area @1:30pm with my daughter and noticed this place. looked it up, seemed to have good reviews and said it was authentic. We went in, noticed yeros nicely spinning in the rotisserie. We ordered two yeros with tomato onion and a side of fries. The food was brought to are table and I noticed it didn't look like it should. The meat was not sliced pieces of thin pork it was chopped up small chunks that were grilled. I was in the area looking for some quick healthy eat and souvlaqueria popped up. We got the smart bowls with the bunch of toppings and the meat was so tender and flavorful. Had the island beet salad, Mezze combo and small mixed grill. The mixed grill had grilled sausage, port, n chicken souvlaki n beef/ lamb gyro w tzatziki, fried potato, tomato n purple cabbage salad Plenty of pita bread too to dip into mezze combo. Once a month I make my mandatory trip to the Union Pork Store on Morris Ave. (which is great and definitely worth a visit). About four years ago a restaurant called Souvlaqueria opened up directly across the street and ever since then I've been wanting to try it. It took a while, but I finally got there, and I regret not going sooner. Souvlaqueria is what the restaurant industry calls "fast casual". There are no waiters, and you order your food from a counter, but the quality and variety are a cut above fast food. As you might guess from the name, the food is Greek. The menu is impressively large and there's something on it that should please everyone. There are 3 types of "gyros" (I use quotes because I'm using the term for all the meats they have on a spit) Lamb & Beef, Chicken and Pork. They also have chicken and pork souvlaki, and Angus beef meatballs. In addition, there are a host of other choices for carnivores ranging from burgers, wings and sausages to pork loin medallions. All done in a Greek style. If meat isn't your thing, they also serve falafel, spanakopita, grape leaves, a variety of dips, salads and even baked cheese. The restaurant is clean, bright and pleasant, and despite being four years old, everything feels new. The staff was both friendly and seemed eager to please. I went with a Gyro ($11), which comes with your choice of meat, 3 toppings, a spread and is served on their home baked pita bread. I chose lamb & beef, with fried potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and tzatziki (yogurt & cucumber dip). My mother ordered the Greek Salad ($11), which is made the traditional way, meaning no lettuce. I was quite impressed with my gyro. It's getting hard to find gyros using meat freshly cut from a spit. These days it's usually frozen gyro meat that's finished on a grill. Gyros with home baked pita I haven't found anywhere else. The tzatziki was properly garlicky. I wish the gyro meat was seasoned a bit more, but that's a minor complaint. The pita bread did indeed taste freshly made and was seared on the grill before they wrapped the gyro, which added to the flavor and texture. My mother thoroughly enjoyed her Greek Salad but was initially surprised at the omission of lettuce. It was clearly described on the menu but being accustomed to diner Greek salads she just assumed it would be similar. There's a lesson to be learned there. However, like I said, she did enjoy it. The restaurant has ample parking and has plenty of seating. The prices were quite reasonable. I look forward to returning to try some of their other menu items, and I will definitely get another gyro. I highly recommend you give Souvlaqueria a try. read more

My husband and I were in the mood for some Greek food so after a quick search we stumbled upon Souvlaqueria. We went on our honeymoon to Greece in September so we were hoping to find some good authentic food. As you walk in, you'll see a mini market on the right hand side with a few different Greek products. It's more of a casual place so you'll order at the register and pay for your meal before picking a table to sit at. The restaurant is nicely decorated and they do have outdoor seating as well which is the traditional way to go. We decided to try the small mix grill with pork and the Spanakopita appetizer. The Spanakopita was a little salty for me but the crust was perfectly flaky. In Greece I noticed the cheese tended to be on the salty side so it definitely was made the same way. The small mix grill was more than enough food for two people. There were a bunch of fries underneath all the meat along with slaw, Tzatziki, and pita. The Tzatziki was absolutely delicious and very similar to what I had in Greece. As far as drinks, they have the typical fountain sodas and some Greek bottled ones. The carbonated orangeade was my favorite in Greece so I just had to have one. We didn't try the desserts but they had a nice variety. They even have baklava ice cream! I will definitely be back and highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. read more

We got the Big Mix Greek Grill, Mary Had Some Lamb Chops, and stuffed pita with side of fries for almost $70. the portion for the Big mix grill could have fed the 3 of us.
