Paragon tap and table was a bit of a disappointment for me. It has good happy hour specials and a good beer selection but otherwise our experience was average. Honestly I'm surprised by the great views and the press they've received. Service was below average, the one guy manning the bar area was swamped and all over the place. At one point he came over to get our food order, walked away mid sentence to check on some food coming out, and then didn't return until we finished our appetizer to actually take our food order. We started with the wings, we had them sevendust or voodoo and beer glazed. The wings were a good size and well cooked. The beer glaze were sweet but I wouldn't have been able to tell that they had beer in them, the other ones were like a salty teriyaki and I didn't really enjoy it after the first bite. For my main I got the short rib sandwich. I thought they just didn't include all the ingredients on the menu but it's literally meat, onion rings, bread. It really could have used something else there, some sort of creamy sauce would have gone a long way. Not to say the sandwich wasn't good but it could have been so much better, the meat was really tender and pretty tasty. My girlfriend got the tuscan stack which she enjoyed. It was quite a bit of food with 2 pieces of chicken on it. Both of our entrees came with fries which were terrible, perhaps some of the worst fries I've ever had. They were tough and stale, they went into the garbage when we got home. We both finished about half of our sandwiches and took the leftovers home, the portion size was fairly large. We split a peanut butter brownie for dessert, it was decent but obviously fresh out of a sysco box. In summation it's a good spot for cheap happy hour beers and wings but in our experience not much else. read more

Paragon is an awesome spot that I've come by for happy hour once. They have an awesome selection of beers on tap - huge, random, and popular. It was busy by 3:30 on a Friday. Parking wasn't bad at all, and it's in a good location. A bit pricey, but the food quality isn't bad at all. I'm going with a 3/5 because although they DO have nice beer selections, nothing about Paragon makes me want to come back. It doesn't stand out in any way from other bars. read more

Went in for a Birthday Celebration, and from the waitress to the food it was just great! The men at our table couldn't stop bragging about the burgers, I personally LOVED the tuna tartar (so far the best I've had), Crab and shrimp Bites were awesome, the Chicken Bacon Dip , and to end a great night, the cheesecake: WOW is all I have to say! Great place! Delicious food and huge craft beer selection. Even the house-made chips and aioli they give you while you wait for your food were amazing. Our server was very sweet and she was knowledgeable on both the food and beer menus. They have specials for every night of the week, including Happy Hour all night on Thursdays. Reservations are definitely recommended on weekends if you want to eat in the dining room. I'm assuming you could eat in the bar area if you don't have a reservation, though. read more

Very good Thursday Happy Hour (4 - close!) with $6 appetizers, $5 wines and $4 tap craft beers, although we were informed that the $4 Happy Hour Craft Beers were $5 the night we were there. WTH? Bait & switch, and you lose a point for that, Paragon. Servers were helpful (sat at the bar) but could use a little more polish. Not a terribly vibrant scene, as it's in a weird location. a separate building in the Target shopping center, right at the GSP South entrance in Clark. The fig flatbread...while tasty...was a little difficult to manage and suffered from a too-soft crust. Had I paid full price for this ($11.50) I would've felt cheated. Wings were tasty. The Happy Hour prices made the portion sizes more reasonable for the price, unless of course they serve larger portions when you order at the full menu price. This is my third visit and everyone of them were fantastic. I am writing this review about the duck quesadilla I got this time that was phenomenal. Not many places around here or anywhere can you get a duck and ghost pepper cheese quesadilla, but it was perfect - nice kick but not too spicy. Amazing beer selection, even had the new 902 Brewery IPA from my stomping grounds of Hoboken. Would 100% recommend to anyone, especially a craft beer lover. read more

What a great time! For my friends birthday we went to Paragon for Happy Hour fun/food. Our server could not have been better - John (I called him Dr John, he said he was John From Paragon). He made us feel like we could ask him for anything, he really bent over backwards to make sure that my friend had a good birthday!! I've been to Paragon with friends three times. I loved everything I had there, but I think my favorites were the tuna flatbread and the shrimp and crab balls. The staff is extremely friendly, especially Jeremy, the head hostess. I am always greeted by name, which has never happened to me in the past. It is my new regular hangout spot! Chef Eric LeVine is a genius, and Mike DeSimone's beer choces pair perfectly with Chef Eric's creations. read more

My wife and I along with two other couples went for a bit to eat and some drinks this past Saturday night. We had a reservation (which is recommended for a Saturday night) and were seated immediately. I really didn't know much about gastropubs until going to Paragon. They serve pub food with an upscale spin. The menu is unique and appealing. The food does not disappoint from the apps to the deserts (we ordered every desert they make and passed them around the table). Try the Ginger pork Sticks as an appetizer, they are outstanding. They have an extensive drink and beer menu with a wide variety of choices. Try the Pear Martini, the women were drinking them and I had a taste or two...They're addicting. Service was prompt and the prices are more than fair. The chief came out and stopped by our table to see us was really nice. I'm glad I live close by because I will definitely be back often. read more

I really want to like this place, but tonight was horrible. Considering the staff would rather talk with each other than even glance at their customers, I'm not surprised at the lack of guests on a Sunday night. I sat at the bar and after the bartender served the two other women who came in at the same time, I placed my order with a bored barback. My drink took a lot longer than it should have and was poorly made. The bartender tasted it from a straw seconds before putting it in front of me. I'm fully aware of the importance of tasting product before it gets to a customer, but could you have done that maybe before you walked it over, in case it needed adjustment? This cocktail was a lavender tequila take on a classic Bee's Knees. The lavender honey was stuck to the bottom of the glass and the drink had maybe 4 times the amount of bitters it should have. About 10 minutes later, the bartender got around to asking me how I was enjoying the drink I had obviously pushed away. I cancelled my tuna tartare flatbread, left the exact amount of cash for the drink and left. What a bad experience. read more

Really LOUD!! The beer list is outstanding, the food is excellent but I'm not sure if I'll be back. When I go to dinner I want to converse. This just isn't the place for that. I had a Kane IPA--hard to find around here. And the short rib sandwich. The beef was perfectly cooked and seasoned, on a fresh roll with homemade onion rings. As I said, outstanding. Desserts were good but overdone (too sweet) and expensive. $7 for a small portion. It would have been better warmed to room temperature. Overall, great food, great beer, overpriced desserts and a really, really noisy bar! Wish I could be more positive. read more

I so wanted to like this place but the service was very disappointing. When we arrived, the hostesses were stone faced and did not smile or make us feel welcome. Then we had a waitress who didn't seem to be experienced at her job. She spilled my drink twice but did offer me another drink. Her saving grace was that she was very nice. The food itself was good but not what I was lead to expect from the many reviews I read here. I want to try it again to see if they just had an off night but I don't want to take a chance, will all the other options nearby. read more

Only been to PTT once, and I can't wait to come back! Everything I had from the beer flight, which is the best option for your money if you're like me and like to try a variety of beers, to the DELICIOUS burger, the Bacon Eater. It's not easy to find a place like this in the area with the variety and quantity of great craft beer to go along with delicious food, and PTT achieves both with flying colors. The time my wife and I went, we showed up around 6:30 and had no problem getting seated right away. The attentive staff checked on us frequently and the prices here are I would say very reasonable for the quality of what you're getting. Overall, one of my new favorite places and will be frequenting here more often!! read more

Love this place--we have been twice so far and had very positive experiences both times. The food is great with lots of creative vegetarian options. My carnivore husband enjoyed his meals as well. We have changed our minds about this place. When it first opened, things were disorganized and uneven. More than 6 months later, the wait staff is professional and knowledgeable and the menu has come together. Brielle our server knew the many craft beers, ales, IPAs, lagers, stouts, and ciders thoroughly and worked hard to find something that I liked with the fabulous pork shank's BBQ sauce, bringing out several samples to get it just right. The shank is a huge portion. The pork belly was nicely cooked with a subtle honey and garlic sauce and paired well with the 2 ciders that Brielle recommended. Chef Eric LeVine came out of the kitchen to speak with the diners and told us that he's launching the spring/summer menu next week. Now we have a reason to go back and maybe sit at an outdoor table when the weather is warmer. read more

Like everyone else says they have a great selection of beer. If you're not a beer drinker then I'm not so sure you'll like this place. We were greeted immediately by a couple of very friendly hostesses. We asked if we could sit on the bar side because we didn't want to wait for a table and were seated right away. Yes it's pretty loud but that didn't bother our party, it is a bar after all. We received our menus and the drink menu is pretty impressive. Even the look of the menus themselves was impressive because they aren't the typical cheap laminated bar menus. This is pretty much the extent of the positive comments I have. The food was pretty mediocre. I don't usually like my food salty and I rarely add salt but I did tonight. I ordered the Mahi Mahi over quinoa and it was very bland. We were a party of 4 and everyone felt the same. Every dish seemed to lack seasoning. Our waitress seemed very disinterested. She wasn't nasty or rude, she just wasn't really friendly at all. She took our order and left. We saw her one other time during the meal when she cleared some plates and didn't ask if anyone needed any drink refills. She literally just took plates off the table and walked away. I actually wanted another beer but was turned off to the point of just wanting the check. There was another waiter that was very friendly and helpful. If he was our waiter we would've probably stayed and gave coffee and dessert a chance but we couldn't wait to get out of there. Maybe things would've been different if we ordered "bar food" like chicken wings and burgers. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be going back to give it a try. read more

Not impressed at all. I live locally and have been wanting to try this for a long time now, but sorry to say, I WILL NOT BE BACK. The door greeters were very friendly, unfortunately our waitress was not. I eat out 3-4 nights a week, and it's quite obvious when a waitress/server is going to be good, immediately i knew she was not, but, I put this aside and looked forward to the menu that offered some interesting dishes , along with the common "bar" food offerings. Anyways, we were a party of 4 and we all took different dishes along with 2 appetizers and sadly we all were disappointed !! My friends had been there before and they said it was HIT OR MISS, but they were willing to try it again since I hadnt been here yet. Great looking place, with good beer but every time I've gone there hasn't been an inch of room to move!!

In the begining of last year I would've rated them 5 star. I love being able to go out for great food, scotch, and craft beer. This place had it all. We were so impressed that we went two days in a row. The second being on Valentine's day. Ive gone there by myself too and had an excellent meal and a great time at the bar. The last couple of times got worst and worst though. On my birthday we went with my family and sat in the restaurant side. I had to send my steak. After the second time they over cooked it I just wanted it medium but it came back well both times. This last visit on Valentine's day we sat on the bar side. It was pretty empty so we our server saw us relatively fast. Then it seemed like either her friends came on after, or a couple who also works at the same place and it seemed like she forgot about us. I even went through my drink and didn't she didn't stop by for awhile. Even though we ordered before them they got their appetizers, drinks, and meals before us. When our food came out they brought the appetizers with it. So now we had this crowded small table. Drink still empty. My plate and the appatizer came out warm like they were there for awhile. My girlfriends Mac and cheese didn't have the panko breadcrumbs "baked on". When we addressed the breadcrumbs they brought out a dish so she could just pour them on. When she tasted it she said it tastes like something she could do at home. So because she didn't want to send it back what could be considered a second time she ate the appetizers. We took the Mac and cheese to go because we could heat them up at home the next day with Panko baked the right way. The deserts for Valentine's day were great. They also comped us a round of drinks for all of the trouble. I'm on the fence if I'm willing to go back. My Girlfriend definitely isn't. Hopefully it'll be better if I go again. read more

Place opened not that long ago and was a welcomed addition as this area needs a good Craft Beer bar. I had gone to Happy Hour on a Friday night previously and it was packed and loud. Didn't eat but had a nice selection of Craft beers and I found some less common things to try. Heard the chef was a Chopped champion so my expectations for food were high. Last night we went to Paragon's first beer pairing dinner and it was really excellent. The owners ran the event and paired 6 courses with 6 NJ based brewery offerings. It was really 5 full entrees and a dessert and unlimited pours of the featured beers for $60 pp. I have been to these kinds of events before and the restaurant usually gives you a few bites. We brought home doggy bags of some of the courses. Everything was excellent and was paired well with the beer choice for that course. Pork Belly, Venison Sausage, Butternut Squash Ravioli, etc. I also liked that the setup which was in a big U shaped banquet table format and for each of the presented courses of beer the chef and the beer sommelier talked about what was offered. In addition guests were invited from local breweries (Carton and Kane) and they also talked about the making of the featured beers. I really enjoyed the evening. Looks like the bar is a great place to catch a game and have a burger so I will be back. And will give the dining room a try also to see if his regular menu matches the effort he put out at the event. If so it should really be outstanding. read more

I've been to Paragon twice now--once for a business event and once for a dinner with a large group of friends. Both experiences were absolutely terrible. At the business event, we reserved the entire bar area (but they let other customers in anyway, and those strangers helped themselves to the food we paid for, without anyone on staff stopping them--I was working, so was too busy to manage the restaurant's customers for them!). We had a group of about 75 people for an early afternoon event, where we only planned on light snacks. We ordered 5 platters (each of which we were told would feed about 40 people). Only 3 of the platters were actually served, and when they were gone, a waitress told me we should order additional food. I had to remind the manager that we had already paid for 2 other platters. Clearly, someone was trying to trick us into paying for more food by stiffing us on our original order. In addition, they were supposed to provide pitchers of water and soft drinks, but those were never brought out, which forced our guests to wait in line at the bar to get drinks (again, this was clearly a tactic to force people to pay for things we had already paid for). When I went back recently for dinner as a regular customer (not as one of the hosts of a business party), I had a better chance to experience Paragon's food and service on an ordinary night. Both were awful. Our large group was about to be seated and the waitress told me that if I placed a drink order with her before choosing a seat, she could give me the Happy Hour pricing, so I ordered one of the special martinis. It took over 20 minutes to arrive and I learned later that she charged regular price, not the Happy Hour price. I ordered a chicken quesadilla. The menu states that it should be "pulled chicken," which suggests tender meat done in some sort of BBQ style/sauce. Instead, it was generic grilled chicken breast and was so badly burned that it tasted of nothing but char. There was almost no cheese at all (even the people sitting around me commented on how sad and cheese-less the quesadilla was). Nothing was seasoned at all, and the condiments provided were almost ridiculous--a tiny dollop of sour cream, about a tablespoon's worth of guacamole (spread over a rock-hard piece of iceberg lettuce, which made it impossible to spread onto the quesadilla), and "pico de gallo" that was so old and stale, it was actually stuck together in one crunchy lump. It was disgusting. Because dinner was basically inedible, I was still hungry, so I ordered the peanut butter mousse for dessert. It literally made me gag. It was 90% marshmallow fluff, harder than taffy, and tasted like it had come out of a jar of commercial Fluff (from around 1985--that's how stale it was). I didn't bother complaining to our server, because she was so scary and mean to all of us throughout the entire meal. I was terrified of what she would do if anyone raised a problem, since she was so nasty even when we were being pleasant. After finally serving me my martini, she never once came back to check on us or offer more drinks. Thankfully, the busboys DID refill our (tiny) water glasses on occasion. Otherwise, we would have died of thirst before the night was over. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. read more

I came in for a beer and my bar tender Abbie was not only the reason that I stayed at the bar for dinner, but the reason I came back after shopping a cross the street. I worked at Total Wine and More for about a year and a half; her knowledge of the beers that they have on rotation showed me my new favorite IPA and kept my friends asking for new recommendations. My new favorite spot when I'm in town. She was friendly, knowledgeable, eloquent, and an absolute delight! An amazing restaurant with an overall great barstaff only complimented further by Abbie. read more

Figured it's about time for an update here. My friends and I have been back a few times since my last review and I am proud to say that we have developed a pretty good relationship with the servers. They are always accommodating and never hesitate when you ask them to make a drink that is uncommon. With that said, the bar gets pretty packed during happy hour. If you are coming with a large group, be sure to get here earlier to grab a table. Also the burgers here are worth getting and are cooked to a perfect medium rare! read more
