This spot is the very definition of more than meets the eye. In my quest to explore the area a bit further I stumbled upon this "chicken spot" looking for something cheap and filling. However, I was left with the impression that this is more than your run of the mills chicken fix. Environment From the outside it would appear to be your typical chicken spot serving grease and a tummy ache. Yet, walk inside and it become quite apparent the store is clean and in my experience I was well received. Food I ordered a fried chicken platter with fries that didn't disappoint. The chicken was far more flavorful and juicy than expected. The fries were of the basic "string" variety but didn't hold much seasoning. I found this place while exploring en route back to the NJTransit station. Rahway is in deep trouble if this is the best fried chicken they can do! The place is no frills, with very colorful menus hanging up. Several tables and an ice cream counter. The chicken is quick and cheap but tastes like it is. I got the two piece mix for $6.40. The chicken was bland and super dry and got caught in my throat several times. I didn't eat it the same day but fried chicken should still hold up and other fried chicken I have tastes good the next day. The bread was hard so I wrapped it in a moist paper towel to reconstitute it in the microwave and it did the trick! It was soft and pillowy and when I took bite I got lots of air and the rest of the bread in my mouth deflated into something that reminds me of woody cellulose dough. I chucked the rest. I got the 2 piece chicken with fries and a side of potato salad since the Mac and cheese wasn't available. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside so that's a solid 4/5 stars, the fries were the usual easy to make fries nothing special, nothing bad. The potato salad on the other hand was....weird. I think maybe it was a little heavy on the onions, or some other flavor? I can't put my finger on it but it just had a weird taste, not...bad per say but just a little off putting. Plus the chunks of potato were HUGE which leads me to believe that it was homemade or something. Overall it wasn't bad, probably a place I'll try again before I leave, but I think I'll pass on the potato salad this time. ;) read more

Yes yes yes!!! We have found a place that sells chicken and rice with the white sauce without having to go into the city to find it!!!!! This place is great! Super friendly and Yes, it is a chicken shack, but on steroids! Place looks great and it's in the center of town. Their menu is pretty basic, but I went for the rice and chicken with white sauce. Ohhh yummy! They put the salad in another container so the rice and chicken portion is enormous. It's not salty at all, and it has great seasoning. Ask for extra sauce on the side!!! The fries are so good! Crispy and very tasty. Their fried chicken was juicy and crispy!! Totally going to order here again!! I'm going for the sandwiches next! I had seen it before but had opted to try places closer to me first. their online menu was really good, easy to read and to access online. The prices were great as well! I placed an order for delivery and my order came earlier then anticipated. We had ordered an 8-piece a fried chicken which came with three roles and two side dishes. We chose the mac and cheese and French fries. The signs are nothing to write about. You come here for the chicken! We were also eyeing up some of their chicken sandwiches as well, which I would assume are also really good. The chicken breading is almost unbelievable. It is so well seasoned and delicious, it leaves you craving more. The quality of the chicken itself is also great! I recently found this place when I was searching for fried chicken near my home. I needed to place a large order of wings for a surprise bbq for my fiancé. After comparing prices for the quantity I needed and Yelp reviews as well, I decided to give this place a try. I always love online ordering options. However, you can't place an order for a later pick up. The only option is ASAP which they estimate to be about 20 mins. When I placed my 100 wing order, they did call my cellphone within the next 2 mins to let me know since it's a really large order, it would take about 30 mins (instead of the estimated 20) which was fine since I assumed it'd take longer and placed my order about 45 mins before I intended to pick up. The woman that called me was very friendly even though our conversation was short. My cousin picked up the tray of chicken for me (which included a bag of dinner rolls). They were a hit with my friends and family! I'm glad these were the bigger full chicken wing (not wingettes) and they were fried nicely. Very crispy but flavorful white meat on the inside. I'm unsure how the location actually looks since I didn't pick up or how other food tastes but I definitely intend to try this place again. This chicken wasn't great. I got the chicken today at 11:50am on a Sunday and they had a gigantic pile of chicken in the warmer, probably 100 pieces piled up. I wondered how it could be fresh and hot with so much pre-made, but figured it must be because of the good reviews. I was wrong. The chicken was dry and tasted like it may have been fried the day before, or at least many hours ago. And all of the chicken and the two sides were barely luke warm and the chicken was no longer crispy. It wasn't cold as though it had been refrigerated, just as though it had sat out without a warmer for several hours. As I ate them I wondered if my husband and I are in for food poisoning later today, because the food definitely wasn't kept at a temp within the safe range for hot foods. I guess we'll find out. I did a combo with sides. Let me start with the positive. The chicken was pretty good and inexpensive. Batter used to coat chicken is very well seasoned. For the negative: their sides are horrible. The sides I got were onion rings, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. Onion rings are the same onion rings Burger King uses. The mashed were bland with canned gravy on top. The cheese in the boxed mac & cheese was very watery. I was expecting tasty homemade sides, not no-frills crap. A total waste of money. Now to close with a positive: I would not tell anyone to not eat here, my suggestion is to get the tasty mixed chicken only and save money by avoiding the disappointing sides. Suggestion to owner(s): don't cut corners on the supporting cast. It may even cut on food costs by making the sides from scratch. I've been ordering from here for months. I order my food the same way. My fish fried hard. I called to let the manager know my God was prepared incorrect. His response was rude and unprofessional. He says this is how all fish is prepared and he is not going to argue with me. Then asked if I wanted my money back. I responded yes. He says ok and he is sending the driver back to get the food and return my money. Driver gets here asked for the food without my money. I asked where is it. I came here with extremely low expectations. I live nearby and my friends once brought fried chicken from here for a potluck I was having at my apartment. I finally came here for the first time on Sunday night and hubby and I split the chicken and rice and chicken gyro (took them to-go). I was super impressed - both were really delicious. I didn't expect them to be so good - LOL. This food will make you fat if you have enough of it though - sigh, forever a struggle haha. In terms of the location, I can see parking being an issue but it wasn't for us. The place itself has a few seats and feels very old-school and homey, like how the original KFC maybe would've been before it became a franchise. There's hella cameras everywhere which makes me think some not-so-great-ish may have gone down here, or they anticipate shady characters, so beware if you're a lady going on your own. Placed an order for pick-up. I got a gyro with everything on it and my husband got some fried chicken wings with fries. We weren't sure what to expect because the prices seemed so inexpensive but the food was really good. The gyro to me was pretty big with lots of meat and the fried chicken wings are normal sized (not like the genetically engineered giant chicken wings at some fast food places). The fires are cut thin and are crispy. The amount of fries they give with the combos are equivalent to the amount that would be able to fit inside a chinese eggroll wrapper (that's actually what they put them in). I am tired of arguing with a bunch of teenagers with an attitude problem about my food. The best chicken place ever! Food is amazing especially their chicken and rice dish. First, the basmati rice is always perfect and the chicken is cut nice and thin just how I like it. Then you get this white sauce that I literally can drink by itself lol I always drizzle that right on top. Third, you get such a large portion you always have enough to save for the next day. I am under the impression that they prepare your food (not from scratch though) after you placed the order. Situated a block or so from the Rahway train station and opening till late into the night, this is a good spot to grab a meal or even dine-in after a long day at work or play. Even though numerous reviews already attested to the lure of the chicken with rice in white sauce, I have to say that this is by far my favorite dish and I almost always go back to ordering this dish after trying out the other stuff they have on offer. Their chicken with rice looks and tastes good. It's served piping hot in a nice round aluminum dish, with generous serving of flavored rice and more chicken than you could possibly have in one sitting. I always have leftovers for another full meal. The set comes with a side salad and a drink of your choice. Tip: the white sauce adds to the flavor of the rice and chicken. Also, the fish and rice is also a must try. Similar to the chicken version, it comes with generous serving of fried tilapia. I'm less impressed with their fried chicken and wings though. I find the batter too salty for my taste, preferring to stick to the generic fast food chains for my fried chicken cravings.
