When a customer needs something done, it should get done. When a customer calls over the phone to order some food, it should be started right away especially when the restaurant was not busy at all. On a Sunday evening at 7pm, I had called this place to to order simple tacos over the phone. I get there in about 20 minutes and the tacos were not even ready nor cooked. Of course there is never any sort of manager around because people are to busy chatting in the kitchen, who knows about what. Nobody in there has the decency go even apologize or recognize the customer. I do not pay play the race card but I guess since I'm not from their culture I'm left for last or not even considered as a customer. This is not the first time this has happened. People hear especially the males are extremely lazy and take their sweet time. I've been in this industry way too long and I'm well respected to be treated this way with such unprofessionalism. A place does not mess with someone's order and decide to not cook it at all. Managers and owners need to come out of their hole and be productive and run a Mexican restaurant the way it should be. read more

It was okay, honestly. I ordered two hard shell tacos with ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and guacamole. They somehow didn't end up giving me a hard shell taco, cheese, or tomatoes. The taste on the taco was a little under decent. It had a very strong taste and the beef was slathered in grease. Probably not going back to this restaurant. read more

This place is right by my job, and when I get the urge for Mexican food its my go-to spot. Their food is delicious and authentic, and the guys in there are willing to alter menu choices to suit your tastes. The guacamole and crema are included in the prices, not additional. My advice, do not overlook the baked goods! They have delicious pan dulce and churros, as well as other freshly baked deserts. Inexpensive, too. read more

I used to order from here a lot. Probably three times a week if I had taco cravings (which is pretty darn often). I love love love their tacos and honestly, this is where all my stars went --to the tacos! Woohoo! But other than that, the other stuff on the menu is eh. The tostadas are second place. I used to love the BBQ wings and fries from here because the fries are nice and crunchy and the wings were sauces well with BBQ sauce. I'm not sure if the chef changed or if they decided to go a different route, but the sauce for BBQ wings is now this red soury sauce that I'm not fond of. Ordered it twice and I'm not getting into it. Price went up and the tacos are now $3. The delivery people are usually very nice. read more

Food arrives, and its not ice cold, but its colder then room temp. I ordered the salted beef burrito. It was gross. the beef was grayish, i would never ever order from this place again. The food is ok. It's very dirty inside. We ordered 3 turkey sandwiches, and it took 15 minutes. The place wasn't busy, they just didn't start ours for ten minutes. Several people who came in after us were served their hot food before we got our order. Then, they charged us 24 dollars, even though their menu said a sandwich and a drink was 7 dollars together, and we didn't order drinks. They feigned ignorance about the price. We order from here all the time when we want good authentic Mexican food. The burritos are great: filled with rice, black beans, Oaxaca cheese, pickled jalapeño, lettuce, and meat. We also get flautas which come with a generous helping of rice and beans. You get a lot of food and everything is relatively inexpensive. We've gotten tacos and tamale from here before, both of which are decent, but as other people have said, can be a little dry. This place is pretty good. It's convenient since it's right across from the train station. The people who work there are pretty friendly with me. I really like their beef tostada. That's my favorite thing to order from there. It's flavorful and they pack it with different ingredients. They also throw in a few avocado slices. Their tacos are pretty decent. I am not a spice-mania but their beef enchilada rice dish is good. You'll like it even more if you like spicy. I can barely handle the spice but still enjoy it. It's tasty and not bland. I would say the dishes are pretty yummy and fresh. There are always customers there so they keep making the food. The food doesn't really sit there throughout the day. The first time I ordered from Paraiso Azteca, it was so delicious! Amazing tacos! I was pretty excited to order from them again tonight, but when I opened my carnitas taco, I found a huge chunk of RAW PORK. I called the restaurant and it was pretty clear that the woman I spoke to understood very little of what I was telling her. She kept saying, "okay, okay," as though what I was describing was not problematic, and leaving me hanging, like, "and?" She finally got the picture when I said my food was "NOT COOKED" but then she thought I was referring to my entire order. Once she finally understood it was just the one carnitas taco, she said she'd have someone bring another one. Ok, fine... But then she called back to tell me that's just how the carnitas is. Um, no. This is one of my favorite neighborhood joints. I am not Mexican but it seems really authentic which I love. Some of the staff don't speak English and most of the patrons are Mexican. I usually get the tacos, all of them are good and come with fresh vegetables and good tomatillo sauce. I like the chorizo and Milanese tortas, the first time I tried one I was hooked. I love tamales, sometimes they are really delicious (especially the cheese) other times however they can be a little dry. The service is really slow, this is not fast food but somehow that's OK. I would give zero stars if I could. Ordered food, waited two hours for it, and the order was wrong. Called 4 times asking where my order was and I kept being told "10 minutes away". When I called and asked them to send me the CORRECT food, they refused, telling me they didn't have what I ordered so they sent me other things. In the two hour span I was waiting and continuously contacting this restaurant, they should have communicated with me that they didn't have what I ordered. I'm a vegetarian and half of the items they sent me had meat in them. Between the meat I won't eat and the food that was sitting around for 2 hours this was completely indelible. I have never been more annoyed by a restaurant before. I am a native New Yorker, and generally am not bothered by bad service. This, however, took the cake. An hour after I ordered a torta and a juice from an office TWO BLOCKS AWAY, I had neither received my order nor heard anything to the contrary. When I called back, the person on the phone had a record of my order, which had been sitting there the entire time. I asked to cancel my order. I was told that my order would be on the house, and brought over very shortly. Nearly an hour after that call, my food arrived. I was charged full price for my order. I would not be nearly so angry about this had the person I spoke to on the phone allowed me to cancel my order, instead of telling me I would get it soon and on the house. This was very unprofessional behavior, and although they are the only real Mexican restaurant in the area, I will not be ordering from them again, nor would I advise anyone in the area to do so. read more

The tacos here are what keep me coming back. stuffed with tasty meat and the price for them are decent enough. Everything else on the menu though can be hit or miss. 25% hit and 75% miss. The quality of cheese they use is not very good. If you get a quesadilla, don't expect melted cheese. Also they will serve you stale bun sometimes. I got a cemita, and the edge of the bun broke off like a thick-ass cracker. Unacceptable that you would serve something like that to a paying customer. My youngest daughter went to high school near here and this place was my excuse to go to parent teacher conferences. 3 Tacos with bistec and all the goods on it with some green sauce and a pineapple jarito is the go to. Their bistec is sliced very thin and the seasoning I can't find anywhere else. We still go back to this stop every once in a while and take an hour long commute for them. I have been ordering breakfast and sometimes lunch or dinner from them on Grubhub for awhile now. The delivery takes about an hour and yet my food is still hot. Breakfast is a basic bacon egg and cheese sandwhich, no complaints there. Other meals I go for the chicken milanese aka breaded chicken torta which has amazing pickled peppers and a nice soft bun. IMHO I like it better than a cemita. I have had their tacos which yes, sometimes have dried out raddish or lime. Their burritos are flavor packed and well worth overstuffing yourself to finish. I love their hot chocolate as it is definantely made with milk. As for weekend stuff, arroz con leche, a type of hot milky cinnamon rice pudding which is liquidy certainly made my tastebuds go yum! I can't really tell you about anything else as I am a picky eater... but I enjoyed their food more than other local mexican spots.
