Adobo Plate
Rechuld M.

One of the Best Filipino Food plate I've had. The Chicken Adobo plate was Bomb!! The Guy that works there hooked it up. I think he even gave me extra food. Very friendly and quick!!

3/19/25 Lechon Kawali plate $16. A lot of food! Good value.

Come hungry! The servings are huge. There is a whole lot of java rice under the kawali and lumpia (See photo)! The food is flavorful and the owners are very friendly. I will be back to try the other items. The location is a hole in a wall (parking lot). It's hard to see from the street because it's behind a gas station. Once you get back there, you'll find Captain Adobo and another truck that has Thai food. The Captain Adobo truck needs brighter signage. It was hard to tell if they were open. Pls hang a large banner for better visibility. People will come because your food is great just let them know you're there! :) p.s. can you message me when you have Palabok?! lol

Captain Adobo - A Must-Try in Lakewood Tacoma! Stopped by Captain Adobo the other day and I've gotta say, this place really stands out. The food? Incredible. Full of flavor, made fresh, and the portions are no joke. You definitely leave satisfied. What really makes the difference though are the folks behind it - Mark and Jenny. Super genuine, down-to-earth, and you can tell they care about what they're serving and the people they're serving it to. It's the kind of spot where you feel welcomed, not just fed. The setup is clean, the energy's good, and the food speaks for itself. They even ask about your flavor preference: whether you like it bold, mild, or somewhere in between, they've got you. This isn't your average food truck. It's more like discovering a hidden gem where everything just clicks, the taste, the service, the heart behind it. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. I'll be back for sure.

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! If you are in Tacoma you definitely need to come check this place out! The food is super flavorful and the portions are beyond expectations! They are extremely friendly and make the food fresh to order! It's Worth the small wait time to get it!! 5 STARS! Keep up the great work!!

I have been following this food truck on Instagram since they first opened and have been meaning to try them but due to my boyfriend's schedule, it was hard as they are closed on Sundays. However, he recently got a job that lets him be free on Saturdays now and we were getting a dog groomed in Lakewood so I told him that we are stopping by Captain Adobo. Our friends wanted to tag along as they also needed to get their dog groomed so we dropped off our fur babies then headed straight on over to Captain Adobo's location. As we approached the truck, we were greeted by the cashier and even the chef who were both very friendly and polite. One of the things I love about food trucks is that they have a small menu which means you can tell that quality is key to them. We ended up ordering the lechon kawali silog and I forgot to take a picture of it but let me tell you the portion size of all that you get is absolutely huge. The mac salad was divine, the jollof rice was perfect, two pieces of absolutely fantastic lumpia and the lechon kawali was the best I've ever had in Washington! The food was so good that my boyfriend (who is Filipino) said he was going to go order more for our dinner and I was SO on board with that! We got the daily special which was palabok and the chef said he would load it up with lechon kawali and we got the sausage fusion silog. As we got the food, the hunger was hard to resist cause the food was smelling so good that it was so tempting to open it up and get a taste. Our friends enjoyed their order too and were even thinking of grabbing more for dinner but they had leftovers to finish. I'm looking forward to enjoying our dinner later and definitely want to come back to try more of their menu. They really serve up some absolute fire Filipino food and I love that they have jalapeños on their dressed lumpia and spicy chicken adobo wings cause I love spicy foods and I don't typically see that at Filipino restaurants.

A Filipino Food Truck!! Friendly service with a smile. Has many items labeled as a "silog" Which in the Philippines means that it is served with rice and egg. I ordered the Lechon Kawali silog. The description states it is Lechon, rice and macaroni salad . They do not say there is an egg and there is not. Wasn't expecting one by the description.. There is also some salad and lumpia on my very generously portioned platter. Fresh tasting mac salad and a savory adobo rice. The lechon was crispy and the vinegar sauce cut the fatty deliciousness perfectly. I was also offered a generous sample of the daily special Binagoogan Baboy. So good! Big pork chunks in a rich coconut sauce. The owner says he serves it with rice. If you like food trucks, check it out.

Stopped by for the first time today at 5:20, a customer was finishing up their order, I was next. After their order, a woman in the truck, stood at the window with her back to the outside. She looked out at me, then stepped away. I saw a man a couple of times, maybe he was the owner? Didn't make eye contact or say anything. No one acknowledged me for 10 minutes until another woman stepped off the truck. I asked if I could order, she took my order, but she walked to the next food truck. Somehow I didn't believe she took my order. In addition to all of this lack of customer service, 3 other women were chatting away in the front area, looked like they were FaceTiming. Once in awhile the man would chime in. There were more people in the truck than customers. Ten minutes later, 20 minutes since I first arrived, I managed to get the woman's attention. The one who took my order outside the truck. I asked her how much longer, she said 20 more minutes. There were 2 other customers waiting, the one before me, and a couple that was already waiting when I first arrived. There was no way I was going to wait longer, I was already there for 20 minutes. I said never mind, and just walked away. I made a beeline for another Filipino establishment, Paraiso Native, on South Tacoma Way. It was 5 minutes to closing when I arrived, but they were happy to serve 3 customers, including myself. All I can say is what on earth did I experience at the food truck? I think I know, I don't think they wanted to serve me. If you know, you know.

Lumpiang Sariwa is one of the healthiest and most delicious dishes Filipino cuisine has to offer. Also known as "Fresh Lumpia,"

Amazing food and even better hospitality! The flavors were authentic and full of comfort--everything tasted fresh and made with care. From the perfectly seasoned dishes to the generous portions, this place truly delivers classic Filipino cuisine done right. The staff was welcoming and friendly, making the whole experience feel like a meal at home. Highly recommend to anyone craving real Filipino food or looking to try something new!

Always gotta have lumpia!

Owner was super friendly. Chamorros don't expect actual red rice because this was made with Jasmine rice and they call it java rice. But hey, rice is rice, right! Mac salad was super creamy which I loved but was (vinegar)sour as well. Lumpia is made with pork(I'm used to beef). Overall, our fave is the kawali plate. Will definitely eat here again but I'll try the adobo next.

I've never had and really wanted to see what they hype was all about. The owner was super nice, and the person on the phone (lady) was so sweet and put my order in for two. I'm so glad I went with 2 not 3 because these things are HUGE! As big as my head/profile. I really enjoyed eating them. So crunchy and just something new for me. They did taste like lumpia for me - not Shanghai but the actual eggroll kind. The ends of the empanadas were the best part in My opinion. OMG' I can eat that part all day lol. Also, I was so surprised (spoiler alert) about the fried egg inside. It made the empanada like a breakfast burrito! Lol so good The actual restaurant is in a strip mall type area with other cultural restaurants, and loved the Filipino displays and decorations. Love that. And the owner told me he was from Ilocos where they learned how to cook these. They had the hot Buffett with the traditional foods, and I liked that they had goat papaitan. I was tempted to buy but didn't. I did end up with cassava cake. Oh, that brings back good old memories of my mom making this! Thank you HERITAGE! Love the name too!!!

Although he was able to explain the AYCE rules thoroughly, he lacked the basic knowledge of what the sauce contained. He also kept asking if we wanted the grill changed. We explained that once the grill was "seasoned," the food would not stick; which is why we didn't want it changed... yet he asked if we wanted it changed right after this. I also asked for more napkins, he brought one. The ventilation in this restaurant is horrendous, the smoke and heat from the grill were unpleasant for anyone sitting near the wall. I had to move seats after I was done cooking, because the heat was making me sweat profusely. A female employee came by and asked if we needed anything, and I asked for napkins (to wipe the sweat off my face). She looked at me as if I was asking for a slice of pizza. I asked her if there was a problem, because of the look she gave me. She responded, "no." I got the feeling as though she didn't want to give us napkins for some reason. Again, the food was good, but the service was terrible.
