If anyone is wondering if Paramount has changed their disrespectful, aggressive marketing tactics for 2020, they haven't. I've had less annoying experiences with multilevel marketing scammers. We had an utterly bizarre encounter with a Paramount door-to-door salesman and--get this-- the office worker he inexplicably had put on speakerphone while we were standing on our porch. Keep in mind that all of this played out when we needed to leave for an engagement. We told them right at the start that we had a minute to schedule an estimate but needed to leave. They still pulled this nonsense. The sales rep tried to pressure us into giving our phone number and only backed off when we were going to call off the whole thing. A complete stranger that knocked on your door trying to push you into giving up your phone number despite your obvious discomfort? Not a good look. We were going to make the appointment anyway just to get a quote, but it got weirder. The sales rep had to call the office to 'put the appointment in the system' while we were standing there. We've never had a reputable contractor do that before. Then, we had to talk to the office employee on speakerphone. What the heck?? It became abundantly clear that the person at our door wasn't an employee but a contracted salesman that had to prove he was making real appointments to get paid. It was tacky and gross as well as disrespectful of our time. Then, the office employee insisted "all homeowners be present" for what we were told would be a simple estimate. Huge red flag that they're likely going to try to manipulate a quick sale and don't want you to do any research on their product/company. Reputable companies don't need those kinds of tactics. The office worker also slipped up and mentioned a "demo." A quick, free estimate shouldn't involve a "demo." This is construction, not a mall kiosk. The door-to-door person kept pushing after we refused to let the office person nail us down, and we were were forced to shut the door in their face. There's only so many times we're willing to be ignored when we say "We need to leave." The complaints about Paramount using these tactics go back years across multiple review sites and Consumer Affairs. All of their replies to negative reviews pointing out how awful they're being feel disingenuous at best and insulting at worst. Sleazy as heck. Don't let them wear you down and pressure you into anything. read more

A little over a year ago we had the misfortune of answering the door to a salesman that had been by countless times about selling windows. My husband made an appt and after several visits, we purchases 9 windows . Windows were triple panes, with custom finished. Several of the Windows came with scratches on the inside panes, which I assume is why on the install they were never cleaned or labels removed. With in a few months the finish on the outside began to give away. They have come twice to repair. First time with no replacements or equipment. Second with a few sashes but nothing for the outside finish. It has been several months again, and nothing. Please think twice before, trying to work with this company. These guys keep spamming me! I don't live in Virginia and I don't know where these guys got my number from, but they've called me at least 15 times today from different numbers. If they conduct their business as shadily as this, they should be avoided like the plague! Update from 5/17/2019, because I can't respond to Alexa's comment on my previous review: Thanks for getting back to me, Alexa, and I'm sorry it took a Yelp review to even being to y'all's attention that I'm being spammed. I wonder how many other people are being robo-called like this from your "ethical" call center, who haven't called your company out for these annoying practices. And by the way, I'm sorry, but I'm not sending you an email of any kind. I neither asked for a quote of any kind from your company, nor did I ask to be signed up on whichever distribution list of leads you got. So, since I didn't sign up for receiving any such promotional, informational or other marketing communication from your company, the onus isn't - and shouldn't be - on me to make sure this annoyance stops. If you ask me, this practice of buying leads and robo-dialing/spam calling them is only going to backfire, because you're doing yourselves a major disservice by representing your company in such a negative light. And what's more, is that you then double down on it, and ask me to bother sending you an email to get my number off your list that I never wanted to be on, in the first place! The worst customer service I've ever experienced. I paid for windows and I couldn't speak with anyone concerning my project, I was transferred to 4 different offices which gave me 4 different responses regarding the ordering of my windows, finally the so called owner told me he would drop the windows on my porch and I could get someone else to install them, Wow! I was shocked and had no option but to deal with the nastiness and wait until the windows were installed. I will never ever use this company for any project on my home. read more

These are the guys that do all the heavy soliciting here in Fredericksburg. They'll bring in a sales rep who will tell you all about how great their windows are (they also do siding, trim, gutters, etc.) The sales pitch is quite intensive, and salesperson will try to get you to commit immediately. I HATED their intense sales tactics (if you don't buy immediately they'll call and make a second appointment for another rep to try to pressure you. AND they'll bring the price down.) All that aside, we were in the market for new windows which is why I let them in. I never buy immediately (if it's a great deal, then you won't mind me doing some research first, right?). The prices seemed reasonable and I was happy to take the estimate and throw them into the pool with the other companies I was considering. THEN the contractor threw a perfectly huffish teenager style fit (he's in his 40s) when I wouldn't commit to buying immediately. Perhaps that's standard sales tactics for this company, but it certainly won't win any points from me. There are plenty of other companies that sell the same product and I'll go with one of the others, thank you very much! Flat out Harrassment. First the sales lady came late at night trying to force me to make an appointment after i refused over 5 times telling them we were not interested and being super pushy and refusing to leave till i finally made an appointment only to get rid of her. I am writing this review because I had my gutters replaced in February by This company. I have made many attempts to have them fix the problem. They sent someone out in May and they replaced them again. We still have problems with water just running off the roof and not in the gutters at all. I don't believe we even needed new gutters on our home to begin with and now I can't seem to get anyone from this company to even come out and visualize the problem. This job was for a 3 bedroom rambler small home and the cost was over $6,000.00. I have tried and tried to contact these people and I will have to get an attorney I suppose to get their attention. I would negatively rate this company if I could as a -3 stars. Don't waste your money calling these people Lowe's and Home Depot would be cheaper and the workmanship would probably be better. read more

The whole story is long, so I will endeavor to be concise in hopes that everyone will read it entirely and be saved a lot of time, money, and frustration. I invited the lead manager of Paramount Builders in Fredericksburg, VA, one Mr. Josh Zabec, into my own on 18 January 2017. His sales pitch began at 530 PM, and ended around 815PM. During the sales pitch, after a little measuring, Josh said that the price would be around $35,000--my roof is 1600 sq. ft., by the way--which he admitted was costly, and, for a limited time, he could do it for less. After some negotiation, and a "call to his boss to confirm", Josh informed me that he could do the job for the very reasonable, "national average" of $19,800--that is approx. $12.40 per sq. ft. or $123.75 per square, if you prefer. The culmination of three hours of back-and-forth with this guy, desiring to get my two-year-daughter into bed, and the assumption that I was getting a fair deal led me to signing a contract. I did some research the next day, feeling very tentative about my previous decision. Here is what I discovered: 1) the national average for replacing a roof varies depending on numerous details-obviously-but isn't even remotely close to $19,800 (more like half of that). 2) Besides what they claim, Paramount does not offer materials or services above that of most contractors in the Fredericksburg area. For example, Lowes offers the same materials from the same manufacturer with the same exact warranty for, in my experience, less than half the cost ($8,900). -They even included replacing my gutters. So, this is what I hope you take away: first and foremost, the top guy (so the problem is endemic) at the Fredericksburg location of Paramount Builders uses deceitful, misleading, and high-pressure sales practices to get you to sign a contract; secondly, do your research vice trusting seemingly reputable companies (I found paying anything above $7.5 per sq. ft. for an asphalt shingle roof is ridiculous); third, if you forego everything I have said up to this point and do talk to a rep from Paramount Builders, keep a bookmark of the Federal Trade Commission's itemized list of unlawful sales practices handy, as you may require it presently. Finally, to add insult to injury, when I went into the office to cancel the contract, the sales associate present decided that was the proper time to imply I was either and idiot, liar, or had a very small house because I told him that my roof was 1600 sq. ft.--his clarifying statement was that that was probably inaccurate and he was "only trying to help me out". read more

I would never do business with them as I have to obsessively deal with them harassing me despite the no solicitation sign. They always start by saying "you have a beautiful home but I see your roof having an issue in the future we are going to be doing work around you can we drop by and give you a quote?" They always catch me knee deep in a diaper and usually will knock and ring the bell multiple times so I think it is important. Today was my breaking point. It was cold and I said I wasn't going to need their services. The guy kept pressing and even asked if he could come inside to discuss it further. I have two small children and it was inappropriate. These are the same people who have been calling my house relentlessly years ago. I told them to put me on their "do not call list" but they call me anyways. I remember the lady on the phone was very rude, and hangs up abruptly before I even said I wasn't interested. They also go door-to-door like Jehovah witnesses soliciting roof repair. The sales tactic is always the same, they tell me that my neighbors were concerned about my house and it needs to be repaired (roof, windows, etc.); but when I asked my neighbors about this, they told me they never spoke to anyone about my house...it's all BS. I post up "No Soliciting" but they still knock on my door. I keep telling them, my roof is fine and I'm not interested...but they won't stop. It's 2017, and they're at it again. I told them I'm not interested, but the sales person keeps pushing me for my personal information. It doesn't matter what I say, they keep pushing. I am trying my best to be nice and patient, but they are starting to really piss me off. I ask for their company number, a business card or a pamphlet, but they always refuse to give me anything. I guess they're afraid that I'll block the number or report their business. Whatever it is, it's very shady and I will never do business with someone who doesn't give me at least a business card. Can you believe this company is sending salespersons door-to-door in the midst of the governor's COVID-19 Stay-At-Home Order?!!!! Just had two of them come to the door this afternoon, but did not answer. I heard them telling my neighbor the company has "permission" to do this. I stood in my driveway and, yelling across the street, challenged this and they said "go ahead and call them!" So I did. The girl who answered the phone put me on hold and then came back to say no one was available to answer my question as to why there were people out knocking on doors. Said someone would call me back. Doubt they will. But note that she did not deny they were sending people around. My neighbor called the sheriff's dept and was told by the sheriff that, no, they are not allowed to be doing this and that they would send a car around. I can't believe the SELFISH, GREEDY, IRRESPONSIBLE attitude of this company. Putting its salespeople and neighbors at risk! And how dumb are the salespeople to be going along with this?! The owner should be fined and/or jailed. They are breaking the law. They are annoying enough during better times -- I get solicitations from them at least 3-4 times a year. I WOULD NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY....NOT EVEN A TUMBTACK! Horrible, selfish people. read more

I can't give Paramount Builders a 5 ... because no one is perfect ... and the prices were a bit on the high side - however more times than not you get what you paid for. I LOVE MY WINDOWS! I love the way they look, open, shut, and lock ... I can also open my windows and let in some air without worrying about someone getting in through them because of the hinges that pop out so the window can only be raised 6" or less. Everyone I met was professional (from the canvas team, sales team, and install team) and answered all of my questions without hesitation. I don't know if I should say this or not ... the noise control is not to be ignored ... I DID NOT hear the traffic going up and down my street after a tornado touched down in my little town - and there was A LOT of traffic! Knowing what I know now ... I'd still buy from them! read more

Came here to leave feedback of our experience but see I'm not alone :( They need to learn to read no soliciting signs! So, I'm the son of homeowner, and while I'm not officially a contractor, I consider myself a very capable DIY'er who tackles every project only after doing a ton of research on best practices(I'm pretty anal like that)! :) So, I'm working on a complete gut/remodel of the master bath and I was outside installing a new casement window yesterday when I saw the van load of door-to-door solicitors moving down the street. They've been here before on several occasions but I've always sent them away. this time they got hold of my father and talked him into a siding estimate.I told him to get the estimate and if he liked it can do but we should replace the windows first. He asks me to sit in on the meeting to get my opinion on what they had to say. Their salesperson Sharon Garnett shows up today and was a total tool! Dad, tells her what I said about the windows and of course she interprets that as more work for them and says she'll give an estimate for that too. First, she said she didn't want to bash a competitor and then proceeded to bash them all and pulls out sections of competitor windows they've obviously did their best to make appear the cheapest and flimsiest things you ever saw. Then, insults me about the window I chose from Home Depot, which wasn't a cheap one on price or quality as far as I can tell, but she never even looked at it before acting like I was an idiot for getting the window from the box store. Is it just me, or is insulting competitors and potential decision makers a big fat no no for any sales position?? Shame on you Sharon and you really should consider another position where you don't have to speak to people. So, after 3 hours of the big presentation and still having no estimate (or "quote" cause that's better according to Sharon) we pieced together from her evasion of a direct question about price that it would be at least $15,000 for 12 standard windows and siding cost is $1,100 per 10 square feet so for our house that equates to around $15,000 as well. Now, I'm a definite believer in buying value over price but that seems way too high for both, and Sharon, when you seem scared to provide the price when asked, that'll only confirm to folks that you're trying to rip them off. Just wish you guys would have approached me instead of Dad cause I could have avoided the 3 hour waste of life that I'll never get back. read more
