So I need to be fair and honest with this so others don't get left with a job half done like I did. The quality of work and care was not there. The first day 3 guys showed and one room was presented as done (the primary). By the end of the week on a job that was quoted as around 3 days, not one entire room was completed, but instead two others started and left. Plastic was laid down on the floors and over our belongings that had been cleared to the center of the rooms. The job was to paint the upstairs hallway and 3 bedrooms with Farrow and Ball paints (which I supplied along with rollers and new buckets). Prior to them showing up, Cullin had called The Paint Shop in Warrenton inquiring about Farrow and Ball paint as they had not used it before. He told me how much to purchase. I bought $2500 worth of paint & primer. The first day he showed up he asked for half payment and a signed contract, which was not discussed prior to his arrival, and this was while the other to guys were prepping the upstairs for the job. There was a lack of communication about this job start to finish or unfinish. It turned out that the very next week Cullin and the two other guys showed up and worked at break neck speed to get out of this project. Upon inspection while everything was still very wet and them "cleaning" I found many items they needed to redo. For the back room they had very little natural light and no proper equipment to effectively see to do a good job in this room. It was admitted by Cullin later that this paint was quite different than Sherwin Williams paint, and now know they should have never accepted this job. I am also concerned with the reviews because Cullin has no idea how to calculate paint and how much for a job! I am left with nearly all the paint! The Paint Shop said it was not their place to tell a "professional" painter how much paint to use for a job. Cullen and his crew did not in fact put two coats down in each room, because if they had, more than a half gallon would be gone and they would have needed the three of them to show up that Tuesday instead of prematurely pulling out of the job on Monday. During this job there was staffing issues where only one guy would show in the late morning leaving at 3 or 4. Additionally these paint cans were brutalized as ladders and so I cannot even resale them. My paint key I provided for all these cans also walked. The closet doors were not completed as the hardware never arrived until after they left the job on Monday. Once we started to put the rooms back, we noticed several areas not even painted and certainly evident that no two coats were used since you can still see the cut-ins. There are a slew of minor other untouched imperfections that real professional painters would not have left. So this is the honest review that should have been posted long before mine. This was not a great value for the $4600 paid not including my $2500 in paint. Also, a proper second coat cannot be obtained that quickly on Monday (read Farrow and Balls directions). You know what they were good at? Caulking and talking on their cellphones.

They also help me with moving furniture and decluttering. The basement looks brand new. All the subs did a stellar job. Rodney and his brother came regularly and did nice carpentry. The ceilings are perfect. The flooring is straight and level. I live outside their regular area. And they took my project on anyway. Cullen communicated with me a lot. And listens carefully. Not just a manager but hard working. Did the demo himself. The only thing I would have done differently is to have thought through the project more carefully as not to add on items later. ​

I paid for them to replace a flat roof and repair damages caused by the water infiltration including patching where water may enter in the future and patching/replacing sheetrock and painting that was done. I also paid for them to notch, punch, and hang doors. Jenny (owner's wife) submitted a quote after Tim (owner), outlined the work and the materials in August, I paid a deposit and work began in September. The issues immediately started. Tim walks the site for the quote but is rarely if ever found on site to review materials or quality of work. They quoted me for materials that I paid for, and used INFERIOR materials. After I confronted Tim, he lied about the materials, I had to remind him that my boyfriend in fact was an architect and knew that the material in the pictures (I asked for status pictures at EOD) where not what was quoted. He never rectified this issue. My boyfriend and I had to walk the roof and have the workers fix quite a few issues that were scoped out and discussed as a part of the work including a CLEARLY distressed chimney that would have allowed for water penetration upon ANY rain. The roofers had to come back 3 times for the issues to be resolved. Tim? Once. The work inside of the house? Still not done. There are gashes in doors, My ceiling? covered in gray primer for THREE months and counting. Door frames? Split, cracked, and not fixed. I have called. I have attempted to reschedule. I have sent emails. Texted pictures and STILL have not heard back from them. Tim's preferred way of working is to have you the customer GC and quality check the work - because he is not able to or willing to do so. In fact, he attempted to blame me for not correcting the work in real time, as if I am the foreman. You're better off getting a bunch of "handy men" and throwing them in a room to do the work because that is effectively what Tim does. They will promise you the moon, and at the end of it you will have wished you never even asked them for the quote.

July 2020, we had a violent storm with…read moremicro-bursts blow through with very high winds, hail, rain, etc... that sent a tree limb through our roof. The insurance adjuster was, very poor, at best. No in-house inspectors sent. Using third party inspectors, they failed to even see a majority of the damage. This went on for about 9 months. 9Hammers was very involved in getting the re-inspections done when the third party inspection reports came back without noting the scope of the damage, and the current condition of the roof. 9Hammers was finally able to perform an inspection with the 3rd party inspector. Several more emails back and forth to ensure the repairs were done properly, and we now have the repair completed, 11 months after the damage occurred. Had it not been for 9Hammers, we would have had a repair completed that would have no warranty, along with a hole left in the sheathing. Ray and Chuck were very professional. Having been on the CC line to the emails to the adjuster, they were also very professional with the insurance company, despite the "shenanigans" the insurance adjuster was pulling. I do not know how they stayed so patient throughout this process. I highly recommend them for any roof work, and will also be using them when it is time to redo our decks. The project included removing the old asphalt and installing a new base and asphalt layer. There were some delays in starting the project, and during the work we were informed there was more asphalt from our old driveway to be removed than originally estimated, resulting in an additional $3,000 cost. After completion, we noticed a small area of the new driveway where the asphalt had an imperfection - a small area was crumbling. We documented the issue with photos and called Immanuel to ask not just about repairing it, but also to learn what might have caused it, and how could we prevent it going forward. So we were looking for guidance as new driveway owners. However, what we thought was a small issue escalated unexpectedly because Immanuel responded in a very defensive and aggressive manner. It left us with the impression he wasn't at all interested in looking after the customer after the initial work was done and payment received. So the work was of decent quality and a good value, but the communications were problematic. We would have appreciated more collaborative and solution-focused communication. UPDATE May 18: The day after this initial review was posted, Immanuel contacted us. In a few days he was able to come by and fix the small area and answer our questions in a short time, which is all we wanted in the first place. We parted peacefully, but we'll hire another contractor to do our next sealing and maintenance visits.
