Trying hard not to compare it to the WB Studios since i toured that lot first. Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good experience. We had Patrick for our guide. He was informative about the rich history of the studio, which is what their mission is as a tour. He was informative about filming tri cks and techniques and provided movie clips and photos on an iPad to help visualize how certain locations embrace "movie magic" i.e. adding green screens or certain lighting to enhance what's already there. Aside from the facts, our guide wasn't so enthusiastic. It seemed like he was just doing his job. Only a few insider stories and fun facts, everything else was very "textbook" I'd only do this tour again to see it from hopefully a more exciting angle with another tour guide. My fave highlights: one of the benches used in Forest Gump, riding by some of the Glee sou stages which weren't being used and the story of Lucille Ball and what used to be her dressing by room ... which was also used by Audrey Hepburn. read more

I had a wonderful tour! Never been on a studio lot and it was really exciting. Our guide Kevin was very knowledgeable and really tailored the two hour tour for us. We didn't care as much about the history and were big Glee and Community fans, so he took us on the set of Community (they weren't filming that day) and showed us all the outside places where Glee filmed. We saw a couple of the stars from the show too which was great! The lot is GORGEOUS and he explained a lot about the productions that shot there - the NY backlot is really unique and a great photo op as well! Important: Paramount allows you to take pictures (unless something is shooting) and I heard other studios don't. Our guide was happy to take our picture at all the big touristy spots (soundstages, blue sky, NY street, famous gate) It's hard to compare Paramount to other studios - our guide said Paramount is the oldest studio and the only one still in Hollywood. They also said it was a "100% working studio" meaning nothing was staged (like at WB or Universal) and sometimes all the stages are being used and you can't get on. I think it just depends! Overall, a really great tour of a historical, exciting studio. Definitely a great Hollywood stop! read more

We enjoyed the tour of Paramount Studios, and though I don't think we'll be doing another studio tour for a while, we were glad we did do one. The tour starts every hour or so and lasts about two hours. The beginning is pretty slow with the tour guide providing some history and going over some of the movies that have been made at Paramount over the years. Eventually you get on a cart with about 6 people and you drive around a real, working studio. There is little prepackaged about this tour. You get to see crew members building sets, trucks doing deliveries, and staff and extras lined up to get food at the food truck. I appreciated getting to see what a studio actually looks like on a normal day. We didn't get to see anything taping when we visited which was to be expected. We visited in the summer when most shows are on break, and apparently few movies tape for long periods at the studio anymore. Most tape on location and spend short stints in the studio for specific shots and scenes. One of the highlights was seeing the back lot which is a replica of NY. The tour guide rattled off all kinds of movie scenes that were taped in different spots of NY street which was neat, especially since we recognized some of the scenes she was talking about. We did get to see the sets of Dr Phil and Monk which were pretty impressive and interesting. Overall we learned a lot about how a film/tv studio operates and also a lot of Paramount history. If you're hoping to see stars or a live taping, this probably isn't the tour for you. But if you would enjoy seeing a working studio and getting a little behind the scenes info on how movies and tv shows are made, Paramount is a fine tour. read more

Although our tour guide was very personable, most of the tour you only get to see the studios from the outside. Mostly blank walls. If you're expecting an "inside look" at cinema history, forget it. You get to walk behind a few facades, and we did get to see the inside of Dr. Phil's studio...whoopee. I don't know who Dr. Phil is, and I could not have cared less. Save your money. This tour was fine but probably not worth the ticket's $50+ cost. I went in May so not a lot was filming. My tour guide was just kind of boring - enthusiastic but didn't seem that knowledgeable about questions you'd think she should know the answer to. They show you where famous scenes have been filmed and then show you clips on an iPad that's hard to see by seven people in the sunlight. I suppose it's not easy to visit a live film set, but that would've been pretty cool. I mean, you don't even get to see the sets of TV shows that aren't filming. It was a pretty "surface" tour, but I guess they have a (much more expensive) in-depth option if you want that. I think I'd try a different studio. read more

Movie and TV buffs don't miss the Paramount Pictures Studio tour. The studio tour is advertised as 2 hours but ours was closer to 2.5 hours. Our guide Angeline was very friendly was able to answer all questions and provided a wealth of background information. Although the studio campus is a huge 65 acres tours are conducted by golf cart so walking is a minimum. No celebrity sightings on this day. read more

I originally booked this tour on accident I wanted the WB tour and for some reason got confused and booked this one. Due to no refunds or exchanges it was a done deal and decided to keep an open mind. We were greeted by our tour guide Greg who was very nice and knowledgeable of the tour. I enjoyed visiting the lots of dr Phil show and a new Nick kids sitcom but also the old history or Paramount seeing Lucille Ball park and where Alfred Hitchcock filmed overall a great experience for the price I would recommend to people wanted to get some history of film and enjoy a day in Hollywood read more

So very disappointing. Ride around on a golf cart for two hours looking at the exterior of large buildings that you are not allowed to enter or film. The "highlight" was to visit the set of Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil. Largely of no value for movie lovers. Snippets of scenes are shown to you...on an I-Pad...outside...in LA. Tour is put together with the care of a high school project. I enjoyed this tour very much. Our tour guide, Shea, was friendly, and super knowledgeable about the studio. Request to be on one of Shea's tours if you have an opportunity. We got to see a lot of the sets, including the exterior high school set used for Season 2 of Glee. I even saw some Glee cast members. My only disappointment was that we only saw most things from the outside. It would have been nice to go into one or two of the sets if possible. I would have given this 4 stars, but the only reason I'm not is because I think at $40, it's a little pricey for what it is. If it was $30, it would have gotten 4 stars for sure. read more

I actually came here for the opening of the Paris Photo LA event and 1 word.. WOW. IT was freaking amazing. The traffic getting inside was atrocious but... definitely worth it when you walk inside and see all of the food truck and art galleries open for the attendees. I am a huge aficionado of the Industry, in fact I live, re cite lines and breath it. I had done the Warner Bros Tour ( 5 stars), Sony ( 3 stars), the old NBC Tour in Burbank which is defunct. ( 2 stars), and yes, even the Universal Back lot (4 stars) I walked in off Melrose and bought my ticket on site. They give you a wonderful land yard, with name and the Paramount logo on the front. You are advised to come back at a latter date; you get huddled into the museum lobby. Oscars from Bravehart and Forrest Gump are ready for pictures, while a screen is showing classic Paramount scene's. At this point, a guide say's my name is so and so, you'll be with me and we'll leave in ten minutes. We get into the tram. Get the ear phone set up, as told this is " a working studio" , so no yelling. My favorite line though, if you run into Tom Cruise or Michael Bay ( very doubtful lol) , stay in the tram. The first place we stopped was the Main Gate from Sunset Blvd. Myself and four others are watching scenes on a tiny i pad in 90 degree Los Angeles sun! The tour guide wasn't knowledgeable, in fact, he very got irritated I was answering all his questions right away without any hesitation from him. We saw only three sound stages. Grace and Frankie ( the Netflix hit), School of Rock ( a Nickelodeon show), and Dr Phil ( which I was a audience member, oh nothing). Tour took at the "pool", where the guests had to decided why are we stopping here. Sir, I said, it's used as a pool. The other guest's yelled their answer's. Woman goes is it for water? I go that's what I just said? At this point, Tour Guide asked me nicely," Max, are you sure you don't work for Sony? You know a lot." Tour then ends abruptly at the gift shop. The gift shop is a five minute walk from the parking lot, yet we had to wait for the other five before we could leave. My only con's really, This Is Us was shooting and we couldn't get a peek? I have no major gripe, but it's more driving than walking or touching. I asked what is this sound stage for? It felt there were I have no idea's versus other tour's. I had done the Warner Bros tour over the hill, and that is a 5 star. Over at Warner it is a lot more hand's on. In fact, at Paramount, the guide said films " do not generally film here anymore. " Which is truly sad. At the end of the day, I was honestly happy. B .... 3 Stars :) read more

It was an OK tour. $10 parking across the street is steep. No on-soundstage access and way too much walking compared to the Warner Brothers tour. The WB tour gets 5 stars. The parking at WB was $7 and our guide Lauren from Bloomington, IN was fabulous! At WB we walked two live shooting sets (2 Broke Girls and The Fosters) and spent less. OK we didn't hate the tour... We just were not wowed by it. I'm seeing the same thing on some other reviews... Saying that Warner Bros. was better. Honestly it was. Walking through a massive prop house at Warner Bros. and actually being able to see the artificial streets where films are made was what we were expecting. We got to see a couple buildings from a far from where some movies were made. We were told not to take any pictures from several feet away. Any of the hot sets that possibly had filming going on we were not allowed to take pictures. There were zero actors or anything going on just a whole bunch of wood/set Decour. For $50 each it wasn't worth it. It was just basically a ride on a golf cart looking at the employees walking around the studio. Our tour guide was great. She was just doing what she was trained to do... But this tour needs more of a wow factor. I didn't really learn too much. I'm just going to be blunt here... The parking attendant was a piece of work. Attitude. Appeared incoherent/drunk. Forgot that we have given him our keys after two seconds. Yelled over at us to give him the keys and we said it's in your hand. Shocked that this is the guy you chose to do this job. read more

Well this was the first studio tour I have ever been on, so I had nothing to really base it off of. However, it was wonderful! They started the tour off by explaining the history of the lot and about what happens on a regular basis. My bf is into movies more than I, but I liked to get into the history and understand what has gone on at Paramount. I just love knowing that I was standing in the same spot that people like Audrey Hepburn stood at one point. Very cool. Then after a quick history lesson they toured me throughout the lot. The day that I went they were shooting a dance scene in their New York back-lot for Fame or something...or maybe Glee?? (Which I love, btw.) They also showed me where my favorite shows were shot throughout the years and about how the industry worked. I was basically squealing in excitement the entire time. I had no clue all the work that has to be done to shoot one show. The guides themselves were all super helpful. They answered all my questions before the tour and my guide himself was hysterical, a cutie, AND very knowledgeable. It was really personal tour being one of the only 8 in the cart with my bf. I would highly suggest this tour to anyone wanting to check out a lot in Hollywood! read more

We didn't get to see any movie stars, but we had a great time and learned some interesting things. would recommend this for movie fans! I'm into Star Trek so for my first foray into studio tours I went with Paramount. Plus, I thinks it's cool it's the only major studio still in Hollywood. Our tour guide, Cass, was fabulous! I found it interesting how she explained the guides are part of a page program and they all have different areas of interest (i.e. Producing, lighting, directing, etc) so each tour is unique. Video clips shown are the same but the anecdotes are different. We were fortunate to go into 3 sound stages. One was empty which was cool to see that first before seeing the ones that had sets in them. Depending on the filming schedule you may or may not get to go into any sound stages. It was super cool to see different areas used for movies/tv and hear some of the behind the scenes tidbits. You are mostly in a golf cart and there are headsets provided so you can hear the guide when in the cart. Since golf carts can hold a max of 8 people and one of those is the guide, it's not like you're in a giant group. Great photo ops abound so bring your camera. Be sure to get one of the Hollywood sign over the wall! Would highly recommend. We saw a couple celebs on the tour, but again it's really luck, although I would think during the week would be better odds (we went Thurs afternoon). Parking is across the street, but it is cash only so have $12 handy. You will need to leave your keys with the attendant as you do double park. My only negative was the gift shop didn't have any Star Trek swag. Was hoping with the 50th anniversary they'd have some shirts or something. read more

We signed up for the VIP Studio Tour at Paramount. With the fee, you get free parking across the street from the Studio. We checked in at the Tour entrance and entered into a fascinating waiting room to await our tour leader Catherine. Once the tour started we are taken through all parts of the 65 acres where all the sound stages are and given lots of history snippets about the 100 years of Paramount. We visited the stage where the Dr. Phil show is taped, as well as the Prop storage area and a film vault where various versions of the tv shows and movies were stored. Catherine was very knowledgable in the history of the studio. We were served a very nice snack of great Hors d'oeuvres.l The final stop at the Paramount Gift shop where we were given a 15% discount because we had taken the VIP tour. The tour was expensive ($189) but did provide us with a great amount of information about how tv shows and movies are produced and views into the massive backlot and fantastic history of Paramount. If such an adventure is in your budget, by all means, sign up. You will not be disappointed. read more

We had a great time on the night tour at Paramount Pictures! It's a walking tour with champagne and movie theater candy and popcorn mid-tour. We walked around the studio for several hours and Juan the tour guide did a great job regaling us with tales of the Golden Age of Hollywood. We saw behind the scenes of sound stages for Nickelodeon's School of Rock and Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil's sound stage was previously used by The Godfather - and we were told some unnerving stories about that "family" movie that will make your skin crawl... I highly recommend this tour for movie buffs big and small! read more

This is a great tour. I've read others that said it was all about old movies or boring. I disagree 100%. If you like movies and have even a little interest how they are made then you will have a great time. We did the VIP tour in April 2017 and loved it. There was a lot of walking but we are good with that since we got to see so many spots where some of our favorite movies were filmed. I'm talking about films like Star Trek and Top Gun as well as old shows like the Brady Bunch and Frazier. The VIP tour is a bit expensive but we thought it was worth it and had a great time. Lunch was good too. A lot of reviews said lunch was disappointing but we thought it was great. Enjoy it. read more

Prompt courteous staff. Fun name tags double as souvenirs. Tour guides are personable and knowledgeable about a wide range of films and film history -- Bobby, especially, is an amazing guide! Good mix of current and old film realia and trivia. Learned a lot about film making history and film history. Tour guides use iPad to show images and movie clips at relevant spots throughout studio. Got to see working sets (not during filming) but not any celebrities. Consider getting tickets to shows at Paramount or any area studios if you'd like to see live recording or celebrities. We did the 2 hour tour -- based on reading other reviews, not sure how much difference from the 4 hour VIP tour other than the buffet lunch and coffee drinks at the beginning of the tour. The tour was informative and Shannon our guide as bubbly, answered all our questions, and was knowledgeable. I enjoyed how intimate it was (only 6 people for the regular tour). If you like old movie history, you'll like this tour. However, the tour seemed out of touch with its age group. Yes it was cool to see a working set like Frankie and Grace, but all the Nickelodeon sets were very young. The props department was disappointing and underwhelming. You all think with almost 90 years of film making, they would have better props than some Jackass items, Anchorman, and a couple rolling racks of clothes. The best part of the tour was the waiting room with the nice clothing, the oscars, the paramount history wall. Also the gift shop was lame. All paramount gear and nothing movie or show specific. We did the WB tour awhile back- go there! (The tour has great cars, a better present prop/museum, and they ask your favorite shows and try to take you to their sets. This tour is about two hours, and it's a pricy and boring two hours. For $58, you have a guy who walks you around for two hours holding an iPad to show you what's been filmed here. It was cool to see the Forrest Gump bench and other props and points of interest, such as the Dr. Phil studio, but the tour lacked substance. The tour guide would mention that the Paramount water tower is a mostly there now for looks and is great of "photo opportunities". However, the tour guide NEVER stopped to let us take pics with it! I asked the tour guide at the end of i could go back to it take a photo and she said it is way on the other side of the studio so she only brought me to a place where only half of it is soon and the Paramount logo was off-center. Low budget tour. Only one bathroom with one toilet while you wait for your golf cart driver/host to arrive to pick you up at your reserved time. Unfortunately for me after driving for 3 1/2 hours from San Diego. The waiting room has very few places to sit, actually benches up against the wall. There were about 10 mannequins with costumes on them that were from less than steller movies. There is a display case that is stretched across a wall showing "Oscars" and a plate that mentions the movie. The rest of the room has a giant screen that repeats every 5-10 minutes that basically congratulates itself on the studios accomplishments. The girl who drove as around was pleasant and had to show us highlights by holding up a lap top of how a parking lot was once a sea for the 10 commandments etc. She had to do this about 10 times. We were told not to talk to anyone because they were working. It kinda made me feel like I was "unworthy". We did get to sit on a fake "Forrest Gump bench" and she offered to take our picture in front of a fountain with the "Paramount" arch behind us and if you "swinted" you could see part of the HOLLYWOOD sign way in the distance. We had to stop inside Dr. Phil's studio(actually much nicer than elen's at Warner. Other than that she drove us down New York & Chicago streets and she let us into a prop room that had items that had been in a few movies and TV. The best part was the "William Shatner" story she told us and how he discovered the big fire there. At the end just about everyone who worked there were on lunch break. They had a nice large outdoor eating area and an executive dining building. WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO EAT THERE. We were told if we wanted to grab a coffee at Pete's then she would wait for us! I did grab a coffee, a left over egg sandwich from breakfast and used a bathroom that had one toilet in it. I guess I left the way I came in but this time our host had to walk us out of the property. read more

We went to the evening tour. The guide had very little to contribute, except for a few lame stories. I think the history could be all placed on an app with actual history, stories and details of the studio. This tour was so boring. The cemetery tour should been filled with stories and history of Hollywood and non Hollywood people who made the city.I wanted to leave half way through. read more

Took hubby for tales of the dark side tour. If was interesting. Not scary in the least. A concert and movie was happening on the lot and in the cemetery so I don't know if that hindered the areas we could view but if your looking for a spooky backlot tour this wouldn't be it. Although the tour guide was great the areas we accessed were just ok. The old theater was interesting. Most of it is walking by the outside of hangers and story's of people who worked inside. Most of story's are known. As for cemetery only a few people were interesting. No one I expected to see like huge Hollywood stars. Most semi known people. Would be a better tour if we had access to inside the haunted studios with no lights and better unknown history. Also bigger stars shown in cemetery. Overall it was ok. Great tour! Our tour guide Brigid was amazing!!! Our tour was at 5pm and supposed to be there 30 min early, but we actually got there at 4:15. At the front desk they actually checked and helped us get on to the 4:30 tour and there was actually no one else on that tour so my wife and I ended up with a private tour. Our guide seemed to know everything about everything, any questions we had, she knew the answers. Was able to give lots of stories about every inch of the studio grounds. Was at WB studios earlier in the day and Paramount has a lot more history in it which is pretty cool. Some stories and things on Lucille Ball and even Howard Hughes. The ONLY thing that could be a bit better is the fact that to show what the places we were looking at looked like in certain films and shows, it was shown on an iPad. Depending on the light and the angles and time of day it could actually be really hard to see at times. Overall great tour and can't say enough about our tour guide though! read more
