I really was hoping to like this place but have to report it's just ok. Orange beef - this was the best dish of the night. Beef was tender and flavor was good Ramen - is not ramen, rather it is more like lo mein noodles. Though to be fair, it was still good. The issue we had with the ramen was than we ordered extra egg and extra noodles - but it wasn't really extra. They did take it off the bill when we pointed out all the bowls had the same amount of noodles despite ordering extra noodles with two of them. Coming back to North Padre every year, I'm always amazed at the fact that despite there aren't many food options out this way, the handful that are available on the SPID are all pretty dang good. Hangout Ramen and Bar is one of them. You'll find that while Hangout is set up to serve predominantly Japanese fare (they have a Sushi bar), their menu features Korean and Chinese dishes as well, so they should have you covered if you are craving any type of asian food. That said, being a cold, wet day, Ramen seemed like the right choice, and I went with the Tonkotsu. A solid bowl of ramen and I really liked the smoky flavor of the chicken. My husband's first choice in a new restaurant is the Kung Pan Chicken and he said it was the best he has had in Corpus so far and we have been to maybe 20-25 different Asian places. Wanting to support our Island businesses, I want to love this place, but it's really difficult to. The menu is far too broad offering everything from Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Hawaiian and Chinese dishes and not really perfecting any of them. The execution on most of them are good, to mediocre on others. My biggest issue is with the actual Ramen. It is not served with a traditional Ramen type noodle, instead it's more of a Spaghetti type noodle which is just weird and really just makes it "soup". A place that has Ramen in the name I'd expect more. The Drunken Noodle is one of their better dishes, hitting pretty close to authentic. While the Thai Basil completely lacked all around, almost having had no hint of Basil whatsoever. The Kimchi is good but not memorable, it doesn't stand out as something I feel like I will try from here more than once. I've had misses with several of the Rice dishes as well. Most of them feel empty as there isn't much in there in terms of add ins (you'll get rice and maybe a few onions or something). It feels this is often worse when ordering take out vs. dine in. The Poke is good, again not memorable. As far as the Sushi is concerned, again good but not great. I'm yet to try any of the desserts or the Bobas. They look good, but I'm yet to actually try one. The restaurant is fine. Clean-ish, though there items that could use a good go over (counters by the windows I'm looking at you). As far as the staff is concerned, they are amazing. Thoughtful and extremely nice. Take out orders are pick up or deliverable via Favor or Uber Eats. Dine in orders are quick, and seem faster than to go's. Price point is what wins our business, as they are very reasonably priced in comparison to the other local places. My biggest tip when eating here: DINE IN! Take out is disappointing when it comes to flavor and serving size. You won't necessarily be disappointed coming here, but it won't be the best you've ever had either. read more

By far the worst ramen place I've ever gone too. The ramen is comparable to that of the instant raw men instant noodles. Showed up wanting spicy pork ramen. Cashiers told me they had a new menu and management They haven't updated their new menu or prices. The ramen was more expensive than their outdated website menu said. We ordered the happy boy sushi roll which was really good, pork dumplings (which had no flavor so we only ate 2), the Tom Tom ramen(which my son enjoyed), and the gyudon for myself (which was awesome). There was two people in the establishment on the phone on their video calls and was really loud and obnoxious. I'm not quite sure if they were friends or owners or kids owners because they seemed to know the waitress. The waitress was great. We saw her bussing tables and running around doing everything. Amazing view first of all. You don't see a lot of ramen bars but I'm glad we found this one. Waitstaff was great, it would be a good place to hangout with friends or for students to do homework. Ok, I'm hoping it's just an issue with interpretation of menu items. 1) ordered Bulgogi; to me, marinated them grilled so has a deep sticky bar b que sauce, With onions, some veggies, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Always has a side of Kimchi. That's not what I got. Some meat , cooked in a wok so was practically steamed with some soggy onions, no sticky sauce, no crunchy veg's and no Kimchi. Came with two scoops of sushi rice (guess they ran out of normal) As said - not anything like I've had in 50 other places. I even called person on phone to confirm, if they forgot the other box w stuff. They didn't have clue what was taking about but if you Google pics and compare to what I got ; you'll get it. 2) Ordered dumplings - usually they are steamed : cause that's what dumplings are or if in wok : pot sticker.. Again, have had all over the world. What I got was hammered deep fried, Super dry and chewy. After sitting for twenty minutes or so, the waiter brought out the orders for my wife and daughter. As he placed them on the table. he informed me that they had no Champon Ramen today. I, of course, was pissed that he had not informed me in time to order soomething else so that all of our food would be ready at about the same time, and I asked him why he hadn't let me know sooner. This was an unplanned stop. My husband and I are always looking out for new local places. Hangout caught our eye. The owners were so pleasant when we walked in. We had pho and Tom yum soup, plus spicy garlic edamame. All were amazing! The pho was full of fresh flavors. All the spices in the broth were so fragrant and delicious! And Tom yum didn't disappoint! Our edamame was delicious! It wasn't microwaved liked a lot of places and still fresh enough to taste everything and not just mush chili and garlic. Our drinks came out after the food. I got the Miso Ramen, it had corn in it? Corn wasn't even on the menu, and there were no green onions, the chickens breading was soggy and falling off.
