I've lived here for a year now and I've really enjoyed it. My unit is upgraded with a very nice kitchen. The location is great (easy access to the highway, downtown, the Pearl) and is super walkable to places like 21st and 23rd. It's also within walking distance to 4 major grocery stores, plus Couch park right across the street. One of the best things about living here has been the staff. Even before I moved in, they were super helpful and friendly, and have continued to be in my time here. Maintenance is great and any issues are resolved super fast. Thank you Park 19 for being one of my favorite places to live since I moved to Oregon five years ago! read more

We couldn't be happier with Park 19. Amanda and Mark are super friendly and went out of their way to help us get settled in--something we clearly needed help with after five years out of the country. The building itself is in great condition and much quieter than anywhere I've lived in the last 10 years. Pretty much the only thing you hear is occasional movement in the hallway--even when a neighbor had a party recently, we could only hear it when people were arriving and they opened their door. Unlike many modern studios and 1-br's, our studio is enormous and has plenty of light. We rented a unit with the "outdated finish", but honestly, the apartment is in better condition than many "renovated" apartments I've lived in previously. And having seen a few renovated units, they look incredible. The location couldn't be better. In summary, Park 19 is many times better than anything else we saw in our budget, and we've been really happy since we moved in. I can't speak for others' experiences here, but I would absolutely recommend living here. read more

I fell in love with the view, and then the neighborhood. Brad, one of the very helpful property managers showed me 6 units of varying sizes. When we hit the sixth floor, I knew where I wanted to live. On a clear fall Portland day (rare), both Mt. Hood, and Mt. St. Helen's are visible. Spectacular. Then there's the 'hood'. No car needed. You can eat at a different restaurant a day for 6 months without going to the same place twice, all within a 10 block radius. I laughed I cried, it became a part of me. read more

Even though I only got to stay here for less than a week, I like the place. First off, the location is great, you're only a few minutes from 21st, which I found out is where the bars and restaurants are at. You're also minutes away from a MAX stop, there is a bus stop just downstairs, and within walking distance of the soccer stadium. It does get a bit noisy from the drunkards getting home from the bar, but it's very secure and clean. read more

Super nice, accommodating, kind staff. They truly go above and beyond to make residents feel at home. Service requests handled quickly, very responsive to other concerns. My only complaint is the homeless population nearby. Doesn't feel like this area is overly safe given how often they're sleeping in doorsteps and security is too slow to respond. I've been afraid to post a review while living at Park 19 out of fear that another stellar review will bump up the already chafe-worthy prices, but it's time. After living in this building for nearly 2 years and in 2 different apartments (both studios), the winds of change are blowing and we're moving on from Portland. As I'm searching for other apartments in new cities, I find that I'm entirely basing my search on how great our experience has been here. Can I find another apartment where there are 6 large grocery stores within walking distance? What about a home where I can get stroll to a coffee at 11pm, or early morning weekend dim sum? Besides loving the neighborhood, the apartments are solidly built, and well furnished (w/d in-unit is life-changing). The maintenance crews are responsive, and the building management, while regularly changing, is always friendly and keen to help. I can sometimes hear my neighbors, but it's never been disruptive. In my two years here, there's only been 1 full fire alarm evacuation, and it was due to a candle that became overly excited. The building has recently come under new management, and old apartments are being consistently renovated for a brighter modern look. I can't say as I'm a fan (so much WHITE), as the chestnut-colored cabinets and cream tile countertops have thoroughly charmed me. I'm sure they'll appeal to some, and it's at least distinctive within the hyper competitive Portland rental market. Payments are modern too, and all conducted online (no more dropping off rent checks!). This is certainly one of the pricier buildings in the area, but it's not the most expensive place. Parking is extra and priced high enough to keep spaces available for new tenants. We cringed at the idea of paying for parking, but after seeing the many car break-ins in the neighborhood, the difficulty of parking on the street, and the convenience of getting into a car inside safe from the rain, the money has been well-spent. Storage in the garage is also available, for a little more, though bike parking is free, if you can find a spot. The prices are the one downside of living here, but if you can afford it, or don't mind living in smaller quarters with a roommate, it's definitely worth it. One note: while feline and canines are both welcome here, if you don't like dogs, I'm not sure you'll like this building. I encounter dogs in the hallway multiple times per day, though I certainly don't mind and my dog has been happy here too! Monthly rent and one-time pet deposits are standard (see the $ trend?). But oh, the views! Even from my second floor rear window, I can see the Steel Bridge to my left, and downtown Portland, though we're mostly afforded privacy by the large house behind the building. Our first apartment was on the north side of the 5th floor, and that view of the Bridge was magnificent, especially during winter mornings when the fog would roll out as the sun was coming up. We have lived in Park 19 for a half year now and it honestly has been one of our best decisions! We absolutely love being in the middle between 23rd Street and the Pearl District. I am able to walk to work in downtown Portland and have access to a lovely park across the street for my dog. The staff here is amazingly responsive to any questions you have, and Amanda especially has been an incredible help through our entire process of living here. Extremely mad and frustrated at this place. We just moved in a day and a half ago and the storage unit we rented on sight was burglarized! There are no signs to be careful and not once was it mentioned to us the possibility of this. When I asked the assistant manager if this was common, they said it comes in waves. Beware of NOISE of other tenants. Lived there in 2009 - early 2010. Way overpriced in general. Biggest complaint was the typical living noise in apt above me. For a building that was originally built to sell as condos, was shocking the poor construction to hear everything. Lost significant money from AC/Heat unit that was not set properly in the summer and had to hound to get fixed. They have different mgt now, but although the location is superb, the view of Couch park was beautiful as was the building common areas, I moved out after the initial 6 mos deal was up as did several other tenants due to price. read more

My husband and I have been living at Park 19 for 3 months and are both loving the location... a few steps from the Pearl and a short stroll to downtown. Being across the street from Couch Park is wonderful especially for the many dog owners who live here. It's a friendly place with many creative residents. Fresh coffee, tea and newspaper are available every day and problems have been solved quickly by the staff: Hope, Brad and Alfredo. Portland is an unique city and having a light-filled perch that feels like a tree house is an asset. read more

1 bedrooms are over $1900! For the neighborhood? With homeless camping in the park next door and a dozen new buildings popping up for far less? Also, leasing was quick to set up a tour over email but when I followed up to ask prices, as I have heard thier prices online are lower than reality I didn't get a response until 15 minutes before our appointment at, indeed, about $300 more than seems reasonable for the area and sq. Footage. I could live in the Pearl in a new building for the same price. One positive.. at least the leasing showed up. In our search for a new apartment in Portland at least 1/3 of the time agents are late or never even show up... read more

The prices on their website are vastly different from the prices that they show you in the apartments. They display greatly reduced prices online to get you to come in, but show you a paper with prices that are over 200-300 dollars more per month than what is listed online. They claimed that this was a "problem" for over a year, but I have checked their prices frequently over the last year and they have been changing. They are intentionally misrepresenting prices to bring people in so they can try to sell them at an inflated rate. read more

Park 19 has really been a great place to live. Everything is within walking distance, and the staff has been so kind with greeting us every time we walk in the building. The residents in this building are really friendly and within a few months we feel like we know a ton of people in our building. Despite being one of the most expensive buildings to live in in Northwest Portland (Portland's most "spendy", in Portland-speak, neighborhood for those new to the city), this building is one of the worst constructed and managed I've ever inhabited. My problems with Park 19 began the day I moved in. The building was newly constructed - I was the first tenant in my apartment - but the day I moved in there were substantial pieces of incomplete work left to do: holes in the wall, missing handles on cabinets, missing shades on windows, etc. all of which took weeks to correct, with no recompense offered. My biggest complaint is that in the 8 months I have lived here so far, my apartment has been entered for maintenance more than once every single month. Repairs have included (and bear in mind this is a *new* building): HVAC breakdowns, washer/dryer problems, and most notably a complete removal and reinstallation of every window in the apartment. This resulted in multiple occasions on which I had to move every piece of furniture in the apartment and allow full on construction crews into the apartment to do substantial and messy construction work, sometimes for days in a row. I lived through less disruption when gutting and remodeling my own condominium. Adding insult to injury, the management company is incredibly unresponsive to tenant concerns. Emails take weeks (not days, weeks) to receive responses that are at best unhelpful, at worst offensive. One of the most telling examples of just how big a disaster this building is: the original management company in place when I moved in has already been fired and replaced by the building's owner...sadly, this did nothing to improve the situation since the new management company simply rehired the same on-site personnel. The office staff, Hope, Brad & Alfredo, were nothing but great-- seriously always very friendly and helpful. Yesterday, I toured Park 19, a beautiful and charming apartment complex located near the Pearl District of Portland. I met with Rodney Tyler, the complex's leasing agent. The appointment began with a consultation. Typically, leasing agents ask two questions: "What sized unit are you looking for, and what is your budget?". Instead, Rodney asked, "what brought you to the area, and to Park 19?". This open ended question allowed me to express a bit of context about my lifestyle and what I would envision for my ideal living space. With that, my tour began, and I was guided through three gorgeous apartments. Rodney was sure to provide details about the many amenities for the complex, including a personal and conveniently located loading doc, which would make moving less of a hassle (no permit to allow your moving truck/van to block the street needed). There is also a guest suite provided by the complex so that while you have out of town guests, they can stay near you, but not too near you. ;). He also informed me that Park 19 was updating their aesthetic, and that he would show me a few units that were built in the classic style, as well as a unit that had already been updated. Let me tell you, I expected "classic" to signify a worse for the wear, outdated model. I was definitely wrong! All units shown were studios, but each had full, spacious, GORGEOUS kitchens, full sized, roomy bathrooms that featured vanity sinks, and ample storage and laundry amenities within each unit. I was impressed with the aesthetic of the units, both the classic and updated ones. They literally looked like spaces that would be featured in a Restoration Hardware ad. I highly recommend checking out Park 19. The building, the units, and the lobby were beautiful. Each resident who passed by during my tour was as welcoming and genuine as Rodney, whose customer service skills were truly appreciated. I can't speak highly enough of my experience at Park 19!! Make an appointment with Rodney Tyler... Do it. Do it now! While you do that, I'll be renting a moving van. read more

My roommate and I were drawn in by the central location, classy aesthetics and breathtaking view from our corner apartment. The first couple of months were okay, and semi-justified the high rental price. Things quickly went south. New upstairs neighbors moved in, who worked "alternate" hours. This meant working out on the treadmill, lifting weights, running the garbage disposal and vacuuming at 2 a.m. After a string of numerous complaints, we were told that if we wanted, WE could move apartments, fees included. We were woken up at least twice a week for a year straight. Next, their bathtub backed up and overflowed into our ceiling, closets and bathroom vent. The water short circuited the fire alarms, leaving us unable to shut them off at 11 p.m. This happened again 6 months later. Both times included maintenance coming in, blocking off the master bedroom, plasticing everything and placing industrial fans in the hall way. I think the worst part of the whole thing was the terrible management of the situation. The maintenance guy himself is great - thorough communication, quick responses, very understanding. The management in the leasing office was a different story. They put my roommate in a hotel, but without parking, without internet access and without apology. We received acknowledgement of the situation only after we asked to meet about it. Afterward, we received a thank you card on our door with two coupons for a free cup of coffee at World Cup... Park 19 has free coffee in the lobby. Part of the issue may come from the fact that there were 6 different leasing agents in a 15 month span. When we submitted our 30 day notice, we had to follow up twice to even have it acknowledged. They then sent us someone else's statement. The excuse? There were so many people moving out that they were having a hard time keeping things straight. I received the correct statement and explanation only after calling the corporate office. By the time we moved out, Park 19 wanted to raise our rent by $500 a month. Avoid the hassle! read more

I did love the little unit I lived in, but have real reservations about this building. First, lots of people live in the park across the street, which makes the location feel less than safe. The convenience store on the first floor often has very strange customers. Second, the building management is not responsive. I had to call several times to confirm that I could rent my apartment, which I did from a distance and sight-unseen. The package delivery system does not work as described. And they kept almost all of my security deposit without explanation of what the charges mean. The building itself is fine but for the price(!) there are much better locations with better management in NW Portland. read more

I'd Stay Away from Park 19 Apartments in Portland. In my opinion Park 19 is a poorly run apartment building and not a good place to rent. The park across the street is infested with homeless people. I visited the complex and was told it wasn't really the case but walked over there and saw quite a different situation! I wouldn't want to walk past that park late at night! In addition the leasing people who work at Park 19 seem completely incompetent in my opinion. read more

The place has a great location -- a few blocks from 21st Ave, with both grocery stores and restaurants nearby. It's across the street from Couch Park, which is very useful for those of us with dogs. The apartments are well-maintained and the building management staff is very friendly and helpful. We had one noisy neighbor and they quietly dealt with the issue, and we appreciated the morning coffee and their handling of overnight packages. If you have a car (or bike) the downstairs garage is handy. There is some street noise, but not a ton, and you are in a city, after all. The apartments are modern, so if you want older "funk," this isn't the place for you. But we were staying there for a relatively short period of time, so the hassle-free existence with a great location was perfect. read more
