I rented a 12' truck to drive from Des Moines to Spokane, WA. My pick-up was really fast. And maybe…read moreit was too fast because the counter agent failed to acknowledge that the truck was dirty. He failed to tell me that it hadn't been serviced. And he didn't seem to notice that the cargo bay was leaking water from recent rains. He did cover everything else about the pick-up, such as damage on the truck. During my drive, I had a hard time seeing in the rain as the truck really needed new wipers. And when a big rig splashed mud on my windshield, I ran out of wiper fluid within a few uses and had to make an emergency stop to refill it. The cargo bay leak didn't affect my belongings, but it could have had I not used protective blankets. These guys are a district office and need to be taking better care of their trucks. I made this reservation more than 2 months in advance, and paid over $1000 for the rental. The truck made it to my destination without other mechanical issues. I notified the folks at my drop-off location about my issues and they were concerned but I would have liked more than an apology. I went with Penske for their repuation, even though they were more than $200 more expensive than Budget. But I can't recommend them and won't consider them first next time I move.

Mind you I already packed, hired movers and ready with obligations to leave out of state 7-31-2025! Lease up and lease begins in another state which I am obligated! Got a call NOT even 24 hours before my resevation (actually 19 hours before) pick up to tell me, "Sorry, we don't have equipment anywhere in Iowa!" Needless to say I lost it as that news sent me scrambling to find a truck and car hauler. They did have ONE truck with NO car hauler in another state 2.45 hours away!!! What in the H good would that do for me now???? Zero. Thankfully PENSKE went completely out of there way to get me what I needed and for the time I needed. But guess what? Yep. The cost. Nearly 639.00 more up and beyond U-Haul price and quote. Round and round I go with CSR and district ONLY to be offered 50.00 bucks for the lack of their incompetence. That's it! Also spent 180.00 plus for boxes at the 63rd street location!!!! It is literally unreal that U-Haul would leave people hanging like this! "It's the busy season sir, and its not guaranteed!" I'm like what good is a reservation if it can't be lived up to? What about my job obligations in another state? What about the people depending on me in said state to be there WHEN I said I would trust in U-Haul to ensure I had the equipment to get out of Dodge??? Never, EVER again will U-Haul see any of my business and I will be the LOUDEST sounding horn against anyone wanting to seek my advice on renting from U-Haul!!!!! You lost a customer forever and your customer service SUCKS!!!!! Mic drop!

The first time I had to leave cause the line was so long and when you are in the middle of moving you can waste precious time waiting in a line where only 1 person is working the counter, checking in trucks, and having to ask about 40 questions to every customer who is renting a truck. All I wanted to do is buy some boxes to make moving my record easy.. It ended up being quite the chore... The man working behind the counter stayed positive and kind to all the customers and the boxes worked great so I gotta give him a 5 stars on politeness and patience, but a 1 star for Uhal on only having 1 employee doing all the jobs on a busy Saturday.. I was moving away from Des Moines and this site was one of the options to pick up the 12 foot…read moretruck. When I arrived, the 12 foot truck was not an option so I had to get a 16 foot truck which cost more fuel money. Brad was very nice and he gave me a discount and basically matched the price that I had for the 12 foot truck. He was quick and got me in and out. I declined the additional insurance and I had to sign additional paperwork. Brad told me to return the truck with a full tank of fuel and I made my initials. We "NEVER" did a full walk thru or around the truck. I took his word for it and I turned on the truck. I pulled it out and made a recording and took a picture of the odometer. After a few hours, I went to check on the fuel level and to my surprise I noticed that the odometer and the fuel amount was incorrect from the paperwork. They also close early on Saturday so by the time I noticed, Brad's was closed. I drove down to GA and on the first business day, I called Brad's Auto Sale which is Budget Truck Rental. I spoke with Brad and I told him on the misunderstanding of the fuel gauge and the odometer. He told me not to worry about it that all I have to do is to have the receiver of the truck call him and he would absorb the fuel charges and the odometer as I had evidence that it was rented incorrectly regardless if it was intentional or not. I went return the truck on Wednesday and when the Budget office went to call Brad's Auto Sale, the phone rang and he never answered. I had a small argument with the guy in Atlanta because it was not fair that I am responsible for the mishandling of the truck in Iowa. To close on the story, I called Customer Service and provided the evidence and they refunded me the additional fees. I think that Brad is very nice and honest. This may have been an oversight.

Delilah, the GM at this location, is AMAZING. We were quite upset and she quickly reversed that by scoring us an F-250 within five minutes and sending us on our way for a competitive rate. I cannot say enough good things about this young lady. We were driving all the way to California and back, which is stressful enough, and she made the truck rental part beyond easy for us. I will definitely be back should I ever need a truck again and I highly recommend coming here for all of your truck rental needs!

This is literally THE WORST U-Haul and experience I have EVER had. I'm writing this because I am…read morecurrently on hold, 20 minutes going strong, still trying to get an issue resolved from last May!!! Literally MAY 2019. U-haul may be cheaper but it will just cause you sooooo many problems in the long run. I used this location to get a hitch and wiring installed. I ended up having to get the hitch FIXED and INSTALLED PROPERLY by Schuling Hitch Company off of 2nd and they had to do my entire wiring kit since U-Hauls never worked. Here's a back story and I'll try to sum it up. I called May 2019 to schedule a hitch and wiring. They were supposed to call me when the hitch was in but 2 weeks later, I still never got a call. I called back and they said they "forgot to order it." They reorder the hitch. 1 week later I call back in to find the hitch and this time, they can't find it in their stock. They order the hitch for the 3RD time. Fast forward 3 weeks and I finally get the hitch on. Unfortunately they didn't order the wiring kit that they should have when they ordered the hitch. They charged me overnight deliver for the wiring to be delivered BUT OH WAIT, they never got the kit so they have to order the wiring overnight again. (I am also coming in each time because they never called to tell me they never got it--inconvenient.) They finally get the wiring and this is June 3rd by the time I get it installed. So everything is hopefully good and everything is installed. I go to use my wiring a few weeks later and it isn't working (go figure). So, all of this time, money and inconvenience the wiring doesn't even work. I go back in and Ernaldo or Ernesto says that the wiring COULD HAVE BLOWN THE DAY HE INSTALLED IT. So I literally left the shop the day I got it installed without it even working. So they order the piece again. This time I NEVER heard back. I didn't hear anything each time I called and finally they would just put me on hold when I asked if they knew the status on the kit. I finally got it done by Schuling in September. They notice that on the right side, where my muffler is located, UHAUL DIDNT EVEN PUT THE SECOND BOLT IN THE HITCH!!! The guy said yeah you have to move the muffler so clearly they were lazy and didn't want to go through the extra work. So not only am I driving illegally without lights on my trailer but the freaking hitch isn't even bolted on correctly to my vehicle!! It is now January almost February and I am still trying to get a refund on the wiring kit that they took back and never reordered. I talked to uhaul in September and December and they said they were going to get me a refund but never did. SAVE YOUR MONEY FOLKS! THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!!!! Also, I called back because I had been on hold for 33 minutes and the girl says "well I asked to put you on hold and you said yes" so I of course said, "yes but not for 33 minutes" and her response was "well sorry call back later" and literally hung up!! This place is so very frustrating and unprofessional.

Very friendly service…read more I opted to use Penske for a residential move after learning that U-Haul did not have any available trucks on my desired day and time. This Penske location is actually operated by a local veteran owned hardware, lawn, and garden store called Farm and City Supply. I was very pleased with their service and flexibility. Their prices were also very reasonable. I would certainly recommend this Penske location as an alternative to U-Haul if you are unable to obtain a U-Haul for your move.
