Park Chemist is not my normal pharmacy, but ever since I started this new dermatologist; they utilize Park Chemist and I have nothing but positive things to say. First, I love that they deliver. They are efficient on time and in constant communication for delivery. Second, not a month goes by without a call to check in on the refill of a prescription if it's needed or to follow up when I do need a refill. They are always so kind and patient as well. Today, they stole my heart. On my receipt, it said "Happy Early Birthday" as my birthday is tomorrow and that sold me. I got a flu vaccine today. The person who administered the vaccine was professional and appropriate. And... the counterperson was, well, filled with attitude. She was humorless, bossy, and seemed unable to tolerate answering a reasonable question. To note- I was the only person in the store. There was no pressure. This is an overpriced pharmacy that can ask for higher price points because that looks great and doesn't have everything locked up behind dirty plastic. It harkens back to pre- pandemic times. But the woman at the counter had few social skills and was openly dismissive. It was such a bummer. So I'd say that Park Chemists has some ups and downs. But the front-facing person needs a re-set. read more

I called Park Chemists and spoke to a male employee to ask if they worked with my insurance. I told them I had BCBS. They said they work with some but not all. I offered my specific plan and he said he couldn't tell me without the medication. I told him the medications I was filling and he said he needed the actual prescription. I told him where my prescription was and he called back an hour later to say that he doesn't take my insurance and it would be $80 for a refill. This is for a generic medication that with either insurance or goodrx costs $2 for a month. I asked them to not fill and send the prescription to CVS who does take my insurance. They said they couldn't and I had to call Walgreens. I called Walgreens who said they had given all 3 refills to Park Chemists and they would be able to forward the medication. I called back and the manager told me that Walgreens was wrong and only after I lost it and started sobbing begging them to help did she call Walgreens (!). Then she called back and said she didn't realize they gave them all their refills and by the way they "couldn't" transfer the medication but she would give me a "deal" and charge $20 for a month. Next month no promises. So they stole my refills for their own gain and are now holding them hostage and forcing me to pay their upmarked prices and are pretending they are doing me a favor. When I called today to just get all my refills so I could get them out of my life the receptionist says "omg do you know how much that costs!?!?" I will be reporting their dishonest and hopefully illegal behavior to bbb. Please beware- I wanted to work with a small pharmacy to avoid this exact kind of corrupt behavior and it turns out they are worse than corporate. read more

They have answered every random question I ever brought them and most recently they have been so effective in helping to prevent the spread. I am so disappointed by my experience with this pharmacy. After using Emcon for years, I found myself in need of another option when Emcon closed. In retrospect, I wish I had made another choice. If I could give them zero stars, I would. My doctor sent in two prescriptions that I attempted to pick up two full days later. Upon arrival, I was told that one was not ready and asked to come back the following day for it. When I got home, I saw that the prescription I did pick up was short a dose. I went back the following day (now three days after the scripts were called in) and was once again told my prescription was not yet ready. I addressed my missing dose and was told my doctor should have clearly written two doses, which seemed quite silly given the dosage instructions read "take one tablet by mouth once, repeat in three days." Seems to me that common sense, even if there were an error, would make it clear that both doses should be given. I had the requisite refills, so it wouldn't have been a problem to provide the full course. As far as my still missing prescription, I was told that they "needed a day" to get it as their wholesaler does not carry it. I pointed out that it had been called in on Friday morning, over 72 hours from the moment I stood there on my second attempted pick up. For some reason the woman at the register wanted to verify this, which the pharmacist did. Turns out they didn't even order it until I attempted pick up the first time. They did promise that my prescription would be ready later that same day or the next morning...we shall see. I would be a lot less upset if I didn't actually need this prescription as of Sunday, given I ran out of my pills on Saturday. I've now missed two doses, and potentially a third if they can't get it together by tomorrow. They also failed to contact me to let me know the status of my prescription as promised at my second attempt. I'm left with the option of attempting pick up a third time, and transferring my prescription to a responsible pharmacy if they drop the ball (again). I really expected a better experience given the reviews I read prior to choosing them as my new pharmacy...I think I'll try Duane Reade on Flatbush, they couldn't possibly be worse. Update: After promising that they would have my prescription yesterday or this morning, I called in to be told "we might have it today or tomorrow." Absolutely ridiculous. I immediately asked it be transferred to another pharmacy only to be told "but we just ordered this for you." I asked again and was told they would arrange the transfer. I'm hoping they don't drag their feet on this as well. read more

Came here because they were open early and I needed to buy a card for a wedding the day of (because I'm a procrastinator). They have a good selection of fancy ass cards by the front, including a ton of Papyrus ones. If I had to fault them one thing, it's that the cards are by the window, and the one I got had a bit of a sun-stained envelope. Looked like it'd been there a long time. Staff was nice, and they have all sorts of actual pharmacy stuff for sale too, mostly fancier brands. I also later returned because they do DMV photos. That was a much better experience. It literally took 3 minutes, they accepted credit cards, and they sent the info directly to the DMV. read more

This pharmacy has been such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The staff are personable, have an incredible memory for clients names and faces and are courteous, efficient and professional. I love supporting local businesses in Park Slope and am happy to say that this is one of my favorites. I have all of my prescriptions filled there and have used them for many of my vaccinations, including my Covid booster shot. They have my credit card on file for easier shopping. There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe how truly great Park Chemists is! The people who work there literally save my life. The entire staff goes the extra mile. They do what other pharmacies don't and they make sure you get the medication you need WHEN YOU NEED IT! These are truly good people and they renew my faith in humanity. If you are considering a pharmacy, there is no need to look any further. These guys are the best! That's why I have been a patient with them for many years. They genuinely care about their patients. I have a chronic neurological pain condition and they fill my meds for this. I need a certain med filled on a certain schedule. They ALWAYS fill it early or right on time and they even deliver it to me all the way in Queens! The Park Chemists staff is incredibly knowledgeable and very approachable. I would say the names of their incredible staff in this review but I am trying to respect thier privacy. They know who they are. They will answer all your questions and patiently listen to your concerns with empathy. Good People. They will never EVER let you down. I only logged back in because, as I write this update, Angel is on the phone, via MY phone, speakerphone-to-speakerphone, with two different departments of my insurance company, because they (the insurance company) have completely fumbled the COBRA process. It is a huge pain in the ass, but Angel happily volunteered to do it with zero hesitation or complaint. For the 5th or 6th time, Park Chemists is going above and beyond to help me out - like they do any time I need it. If I could give them 6 stars, I would. My fiancé took care of her father's meds, but when she fell ill with a brain tumor I had no idea what to do. Not only did Angel take the time to slowly go though everything. By far the best pharmacy I have ever used. They have a great selection of products- from luxury soaps, vitamins and even candles! But what really drew me into coming back to this specific pharmacy, was the pharmacist's accessibility and the personal service that I received. My medications are always filled promptly and at a timely manner. On numerous occasions I had come specifically to ask the pharmacist some questions on prescriptions, OTC meds and etc, and he devoted time to answer each question and to alleviate any anxiety that I was feeling when starting any new medications. It is nice to see someone who still truly cares about customer satisfaction! Feels great to support a local family owned business. They had great customer service, and the shop is very cute - I ended up buying some soaps and lotions while I waited. I have been in Park Slope for over 30 years. I have never experienced such wonderful service from any pharmacy or for that matter, any establishment. As a long time client of Palma Chemists who closed unceremoniously, I found my prescriptions were sent to a huge corporate drugstore. You can imagine the long lines, the disinterested employees and apprehensive clients waiting on line. Being a patient person, I waited for 45 minutes and left to search for a new pharmacy. I had many concerns about my medication and many of them quite esoterical. Both Julie and Gary got back to me with concise answers and wished me well. Mind you, I was not filling anything through them yet. Long story, short, I and my family are devoted clients of Park Chemists. Julie and Gary will contact you if they notice your medication has changed, when it's ready for pick up and if you have any concerns, they will get to it. We all get busy but I think they must never sleep in order to give their level of service to all their other clients. God bless them. read more

I've been frequenting Park Chemists since this mom n' pop style pharmacy first joined the hood, after Walgreens on Atlantic shut shop...which turned out to be a fortuitous closure, as owners Gary and Julie are FABULOUS. I used to live mere blocks away, however even after moving out of the five boroughs, STILL visit monthly on behalf of a family member. Doing so requires a 1.25-hour RT car drive or 3-hour RT train trek, but no matter. Park Chemists services are 'that' good. Plus I love needing an excuse to visit my old stomping grounds. Not only are Gary, Julie and crew exceptionally kind (take the occasion I found a small birthday gift in my bag!), honorable, organized, communicative, timely, way friendly and attentive...they're great at navigating complex insurance conundrums and special requests which other pharmacies like NYU's hospital pharmacy, Walgreens and others have rendered total nightmares, plus always make sure my family members' prescription items are time-savingly pre-ordered. Basically, as most other reviewers have indicated, Park Chemists is super at "going above the call of duty." Bonus? No lines + a swell selection of basic toiletries and nicely curated small gifts. I love my new Pharmacy Park Chemist! Best hours and best customer service! I'm on a lot of Meds right now since I'm awaiting a heart transplant. I have lived in Brooklyn for 19 years and tried many pharmacies and this is the BEST PHARMACY! They are top of everything and have it ready before I call. Plus they even deliver to Red hook. BUT the greatest part of this pharmacy is that family owned and run by the kindest couple and their mother! I've truly enjoyed getting to know them these last four months. Below is the perfect example of how they treat their CUSTOMERS: Four weeks ago I found myself stuck at home with a bad pneumonia. Around 8pm on Friday night I ran out of Tylenol and needed more to keep my fever down. I called Park Chemist and asked if they could deliver Tylenol and told them how sick I was. 30 minutes later the OWNER of Park Chemist Gary, was outside my DOOR with a bag of Tylenol and other cold supplies he thought would help. My son answered the door. Gary told my son (they know I'm a single mom) if there's ever anything we needed to please reach out to him or his wife at Park Chemist! My teenager son talk to Gary for a little bit and thanked him. I explained it's hard because we don't have family in Brooklyn, the closest was 4 hours away. I could tell my son felt relief that Gary and his family offered help. To QUOTE my son "wow he is the nicest guy EVER" The next day I got a wonderful text from all at Park Chemist asking how I was feeling and to please call them if I needed anything. That's the best part of Park Chemist, they are a family owed business and truly care about all of their customers like family! The night that I had pneumonia he wouldn't take payment from us. He said pay for it when feeling better and you can come in. I'm heading over now. I love shopping there as well. Everything they carry in the store is there because they use it and love it! I've discovered they have the lowest prices around for natural high end products that I use! Ps: when you go in your never rushed or waiting long. things are very smooth and it reminds me of European Pharmacies where u go in and ask the pharmacist questions before you buy products. (A lot of the times the have testers) I use to hate going to the pharmacy to wait and then find out they only have half the pills or prescription filled but a delivery is coming the next day which equals two pick up for the same Meds. The pharmacists here go above and beyond. I no longer live nearby, and I still go back when possible, despite having closer pharmacies closely. Today they helped me add flavor to a medicine for my kiddo that was too bitter for him to handle. Another time, they held the door for me for 5 minutes after closing as I rushed there from urgent care with my sick baby to grab his script. Another time I was struggling with my asthma and the doctor prescribed me a spacer which wasn't working, and it was actually the pharmacist here who thought to look at my inhaler and realize it was expired, and then took the initiative to sort things out with my doctor. They're attentive, caring, and they'll follow up with you to make sure you get what you need. Even if you live across from CVS, like I do, it's well worth the extra walk to Park Chemist. read more

This pharmacy is so wonderful! The staff is friendly and kind, and the pharmacists are helpful and very knowledgeable. Once, my doctor prescribed a medication and when I went to fill it, the pharmacist informed me that there was a dangerous drug interaction with another medication I take. He helped me identify an alternative and request it from my doctor -- he made sure that I was safe and healthy! Their non-medication supplies are extensive. They have everything from nail care to my hair gel. Plus, there is a true neighborhood feel -- they even remember my name. :) read more

I use to work for this horrible company. They fired me because I was no longer able to work weekends because I wanted to go back to school to BETTER MYSELF (which I was the only one ever working weekends) and lied and said they fired me because of customer complaints. I'm over it because I'm doing way better now but because they are mad at how I left they are holding my prescriptions!! I have asthma and need my pump and they refuse to call back when they promised and still never transferred out my prescriptions for me. SO BECAUSE YOU PERSONALLY KNOW ME AND ARE MAD AT ME YOU ARE UNPROFESSIONAL ENOUGH TO NOT WANT TO SERVICE ME?! WEIRD. Also the owners wasn't taking out enough taxes and had me owing money for tax season. This whole shop is a SCAM. They also over price. Park Chemists goes above and beyond for their customers I have worked with both Angel and Gary and can't say enough great things about them. They reach out to your insurance company and work for you as if you are family. They call me when it's time to refill my prescription and ask me if I'm ready for my new delivery. Absolutely fantastic pharmacy. Switched here from Duane Reade and I haven't looked back. They communicate with my doctors whenever I need to get a prescription tweaked, and they have all my medications ready to be filled at a moment's notice.
