We have repeatedly encountered unprofessional behavior, including being spoken to in a condescending manner, interrupted, and even yelled at over the phone--making it nearly impossible to voice concerns or ask questions. Additionally, there have been ongoing issues with insurance billing. Despite confirming coverage and accurate information with both of our insurance providers, the office has continued to submit claims incorrectly. When we've tried to bring this to their attention, instead of resolving the matter calmly, we've received harassing and aggressive phone calls--sometimes while caring for our 2.5-month-old baby at home. Most concerning is the unwillingness of the staff to allow communication with a manager or the dentist when we requested help. Threatening to send a patient to collections while refusing to acknowledge or correct their own billing errors is unacceptable. Because of the repeated mistreatment and lack of professionalism, we will not be returning to this office. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and to have billing concerns addressed, not ignored or escalated through hostile interactions.

I arrived at 4:30, filled out a quick form and was taken back into an exam room. The staff member who took me back was lovely, and got myself and my mother water. I was then told that Dr Zurek had to do a "quick exam" on another patient. Dr Zurek didn't get to me until 5:10pm; he left me sitting for 25 minutes. When he came into the room, he was bombastic and spoke loudly about how he had been having a busy day. I was there to talk about dentures/dental implants. He started by asking me why my teeth were so bad; when I told him that there were issues in both my mother and father's sides of the family with teeth, my explanation wasn't good enough. He began the discussion of my options by asking if the reason my teeth were bad was because I was "lazy or had bad dental hygiene", saying he needed to know in order to best assess what type of dental prosthetic would work for me. During the discussion, I broke into tears at least three times. I really felt that I was being talked down to and judged. Dr Zurek spent a great deal of time touting his expertise and abilities. He suggested a solution that would cost $65,000, although I had mentioned that cost was a concern. I felt zero compassion from him. At one point, I was crying with my head down in the exam chair while he talked with my mother about my options, and I just couldn't take any more of it. When he finally asked me what I thought, I told him that I thought that I needed to leave, took off my dental "bib", got up and grabbed my purse; I walked right out. As I was leaving, he called after me that it was "very important that I be involved in the discussion", but I refused and left the office, going outside and sitting on the practices stairs until my mother followed a few minutes later and we both left. I feel traumatized by this experience, and cannot believe I was spoken to like a naughty child. I am 49 years old and do not need that from someone I am going to for help, with the intention of paying him a large amount of money for his services. I wish there was a rating of "0 stars" because my experience with the doctor was TERRIBLE.

The lobby area is calming, and the receptionist at the front desk are really friendly and helpful. The dental hygienist and dentist provided outstanding bedside manner. I accompanied my mother to her appointment, where she was diagnosed with needing four-quadrant scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) and was billed for treatment of all four quadrants. The entire appointment lasted approximately 30 minutes. As a dental hygienist myself, I was concerned enough to have my mother evaluated again on September 2. At that appointment, I observed significant remaining calculus, including calculus on the right side that had not been adequately addressed. I subsequently had to provide additional periodontal treatment, including re-treatment of the right side and completion of the left side. I am currently requesting that Smile Obsession's higher-level management/clinical leadership review my mother's records and treatment and address our concerns regarding the care that was provided and the charges incurred. Staff was unable to provide any assistance on the matter as it now has to go to the people whom are actually in charge. I am posting this because I believe patients should be able to make informed decisions about their dental care and should feel confident that the treatment they are paying for is being thoroughly provided and documented. I hope the company takes this concern seriously and provides an appropriate resolution.

I recently had a crown fall off and went in to get it replaced at an emergency appointment. When I went in to see Dr. Patel, she refused to cement it back on. I pleaded with her, with the understanding that it would only be temporary and I would return in a week to undergo whatever needed to be done and she still refused. After leaving her office I went straight to a different dentist who saw no issue in reattaching the crown with the understanding that it would only be temporary. Dr. Patel, you need to learn that patient mental health is just important as dental health and that forcing a patient to go without a tooth can cause much unneeded stress in their lives. I even told you that I had a lot going on (existing stress) and that this displaced crown was just something I could not deal with immediately but would gladly take care of in a week or two. You told me that cementing it on would be "unethical". I am leaving your office for a dentist that is kind and understands that treating the patient means treating the WHOLE patent and not just their dental health. Dr. Patel you were cold, uncompassionate and very uncaring to my situation and you seem to care about profit over care in my opinion. Therefore, I cannot in good faith recommend you to anyone. My new dentist completely understood my concerns and cemented the crown back on, alleviating my stress level. They completely care for the patient in whole and not just the tooth. I will be following-up with my new kind, caring, warmhearted dentist in a week for the crown replacement process.

Even as a new patient I was able to get an appointment quickly for a cleaning (and on a weekend) and they effectively sent me updates via text and email in advance (even offering me an even sooner appt. when another patient rescheduled). The day of, I could not get childcare but the staff was so sweet to let my 4-year old toddler join me in the exam room. The cleaning was on time and quick and everyone was gentle on my teeth and gums and so sweet.
