And one of the places the bus took us to was a Maori Hangi, which is sorta like a Luau, only more fun. Cooking a pig in the ground is part of their culture and let me tell you, they know how to cook a pig. It was to die for. Vesta and I met Rob last June, when he was catering a Beer NV event and we were treated to his roast pig and now here is where I compare it to that Hangi Vesta and I went to with Shino and her crew. It was every bit as good. There is just something about roast pig and beer. It's a combination made in Heaven, I'm sure. Flash forward to this morning. Vesta and I pulled into a parking spot on the Sierra Street Bridge at a quarter to seven, behind Rob's van as he was getting out. So naturally, I wanted to take his photo for my Facebook 1001 Days of Faces project so asked him and he said yes. And if you're getting married and you want someone to cater your reception, you might wanna give Rob at Pig Out a call. He's pretty reasonable, his food is delicious and it's different. I really didn't want to do much of the planning, and she helped me through every step of the way. Karen has a TON of decorations that she let us use. It was perfect because decorating and logistics were the main pieces I was really nervous for, and she took care of all of it. I had all the vendors booked and had decided the basics for how we wanted our wedding, but beyond that Karen took care of everything. She came to the rehearsal dinner and made every feel so relaxed and confident that everything would go smoothly. Nerves were a little high (especially the moms) and Karen came in and completely took charge but without being too overbearing. On the day of the wedding she showed up early with her awesome assistant and again took care of absolutely everything (organizing caterers, setting up the desserts, putting all the flowers up, setting place settings for 150+ people, etc. etc.). Basically every single little thing we were worried about she took care of. I (bride) was confined to a room all day (duh) and so I couldn't be out taking care of anything. Karen had my vision in mind and she just made it happen. Her and her assistant were so awesome to have there to guide us through the ceremony, they really made everyone in the wedding party feel comfortable and confident. Also - she has tons of ideas and connections with local vendors - she knows the best of the best. So so so happy she was there for our special day!

Our flowers were astonishingly gorgeous. Sharon and her team do amazing work and know their stuff…read morein and out. I have bridesmaids who are passionate about floral arrangements (I know very little about it) and they were blown away and called them best flowers they have ever seen at a wedding. Everyone who saw the flowers raved about them, and they truly made a huge impact at our wedding. I was converted from being skeptical about why you should spend so much of your budget on flowers, to being completely converted. Sharon executed on our vision and color scheme perfectly when she just had a few Pinterest photos and vague ideas from us to go off of. The only minor caveat about working with Sharon is that she didn't always respond with the professionalism that we expected. Unfortunately one of the boutonnieres we ordered wasn't included on the day of, so my husband's step-dad had to go without. Sharon tried to tell us that it was our fault and the order was wrong, even though the order clearly stated the correct number. It wasn't a big deal, but her response was a little frustrating. This wasn't the only case where we left a conversation with Sharon feeling a bit stressed out by her tone and the way she handled the situation - although for every one of those, there was a conversation where Sharon was very nice and went out of her way to put us at ease. I get the sense that (like many artists) she is particular and takes great pride in her work, and as a result can get a bit flustered during the busy wedding season. In the end, none of it was a big deal or even enough to make me change a 5-star rating. The flowers were insanely gorgeous. Sharon really believes in delivering a great product, and on top of that she was so kind to accommodate us reusing the floral arrangements for our brunch! I would still book Sharon again knowing what I know now, and just understand that despite the minor communication hiccups (probably my own personality is a factor as well!) the end result is completely, absolutely worth it!

Sharon at Blake's was a dream to work with. We vaguely knew what we wanted for our wedding flowers…read more- mostly white with some pops of color - but also wanted to allow Sharon to work her magic without providing too much direction. I've learned to trust experts for a reason! Sharon was very communicative and was able to help guide me. She was also direct about what would work and wouldn't work - which I really appreciate! The end result was stunning. My bridal bouquet was more than I could have ever asked for and she did such an incredible job on the bridesmaid bouquets too. In fact, all of the flowers were thoughtfully chosen and designed. We were thrilled and received so many compliments! My husband made succulent centerpieces for the tables and Sharon's flowers complimented them perfectly. I highly recommend Blake's!
