I would stay here again for sure. Older hotel but very clean. They do allow pets here at first I was like no can't stay here allergic but to find out pets are only allowed on the first floor. Our room was very clean enjoyed the work station. Sitting area they had a couch and a chair very nice plenty of places to sit that is not in your bed. Bed was comfortable. Can't say enough about the free breakfast everything was fresh eggs boiled and 2 types plain or vegetarian potatoes seasons well. A protean sausage. Oatmeal bar, breads pastries freshly made cinnamon rolls. Oh and don't forget the pancakes fresh fruit. Love the milk section low-fat, almond yogurt and surfer free. Need coffee make your own freshly found and brewed order to go. I see other reviews regarding the creamer it curdled and so dis mine but it seemed fresh.. Allergies dis flair up in the kitchen area highly allergic to dander but I have to say they kept it very clean next time I won't spend a lot of time downstairs. I got stranded here in Minden for 3 days while my car was in the shop, and Ashley and Theresa were so amazing and kind and were extremely empathetic to my situation, I truly needed that. I'm extremely grateful for them! The room was clean as well as the gym and pool! Free breakfasts in the morning with a good variety. Came to front desk to ask and they didn't clean it. Took multiple attempts before they came up to give new towels. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly and helpful. Staff is friendly, rooms are comfy. I stayed ten days for work in the field and it would be nice if house keeping would vacuum up debris that I may have brought in. All they did was change towels and make the bed. The sheets were never changed. A worn out towel was left for me to use which was surprising. Breakfast: typical of all HIE but for 5 days in a row, I got bad 1/2 & 1/2 which curdled in my coffee. I eventually went elsewhere for coffee. Even though I complained about the bad creamer, nothing was done about it. At 10:15 pm, dogs were barking in a nearby room and that lasted for 20 minutes. It's not the hotel's fault but when I called the front desk, nobody answered. I said something to the staff the next day and they comped me some points to my account, a mere 250 points which is pitiful when a room costs 30,000 points. Holiday Inn Expresses are my usual hotel chain when traveling. It's a good upgrade from a cheaper "Motel" with doors on the exterior of the building and just less service. But, not super expensive like the Hilton hotels. Free breakfast is included too at this chain. This location in Minden, NV. is a bit older and might be a little hard to find at first. It's behind the big Maverick Gas station ... watch out for the big rigs coming and going. Service was great, even got a little early check in time. My reward points were posted without any prodding, so that was nice. Everything worked in the room that was supposed to. The fridge was nice to keep extra food in and the microwave was handy heating up leftovers from meals. THe WiFi worked well and the speed was fine to do all my work on. The breakfast was good as usual at most Holiday Inn Expresses. They had the usual toasts, eggs, potatos and the best part are those cinnimon rolls! Those are worth staying at a Holiday Inn Express! This hotel does not have daily housekeeping. And although they advertise having a hot tub, it has been out of service indefinitely. Yet, they charge full price for the room. I was in room 324. The evening I checked in I begin to wonder if the room had even been serviced after the last guest. All of the bathroom supplies were empty. There was even a dirty, used bar of soap in the shower. If you must stay here, insist on a room as far away from the elevator and ice machine as possible. All night long, about once an hour, there's an explosion of noise as the ice machine deposits what must be about 5 lb of ice into the bin. read more

Terrible experience at this hotel, mold in the shower, febreze to cover up the smell, the car wash in the parking lot had loud music blaring from it's speakers, basically I was unable to sleep, decided to check out, front desk staff were useless and unhelpful at getting the charges dropped. Hotel needs some more regular maintained. Room was clean enough, but all the ice machines were broken. They have been moving to electric blinds, but ours was broken and didn't have a second set to block out the light or give privacy. It overlooked the front of the building and lights shone in all night. Front desk staff were pleasant if unable to do much besides providing a sheet for us to hang up (didn't cover it fully). Full hotel meant breakfast was a madhouse and I felt bad for the food staff. Decided to get coffee and breakfast down the street because they were struggling to keep food out between 6:45 and 7:20. We enjoyed our stay here the hotel is nice, it's clean. The room is a good size and clean. There were a couple things that need to be fixed. Our room had ants in there, the sink didn't drain, it backed up and the toilet ran. There are no phones in the room to call the front desk, you need to use your cell phone and hope someone is at the desk to answer. They seem to be away or in the back. The breakfast was as expected for a continental breakfast, the eggs were cold and gross, but they had a variety of options. Overall it's not a bad hotel to stay for a few days. read more

Just a heads up, checked in on Friday 11/25/22 stayed for three nights and our room was never serviced. Even asking and requesting that it be serviced the second night, also received confirmation from the front desk that our room was tagged to be cleaned and it still wasn't. No heads up at check in that they may be short staffed or that our room wouldn't be serviced for whatever reason. Figured it's a good heads up to know ahead of time, be prepared to have to request fresh towels. Also, notified the front desk that our shower head was broken and water was going everywhere and that hasn't been taken care of either, along with the phone in the room not working to be able to get ahold of the front desk to make these request. read more

Holiday Inn is a good place to rest for the weary. I am pleasantly surprised at the changes to this place. I was hear a couple years ago and they have definitely pulled it together. The rooms are clean and staff is friendly. They also serve breakfast from 6am-10am. Perfect! Also the had a egg white only omelet option with was nice. It is the ritz, no but for a quick place to rest, this place is for me. Also, very easy to get in an out of and conveniently located. It is right of the main road. What else can you ask for? My stay here was comfortable. If I ever pass by here again, I will definitely come back. There is plenty of parking and fairly east to get in and out of. I will not if you have an RV it might be a bit of an issue. They do have more parking in the back for RVs but you will just have to take 2 parking spots. I think that is about it. We had had car trouble in the middle of nowhere after 3 days of Sierra camping, and the tow truck company brought my family and dog to Gardnerville for repair. The hotel staff (yay, Miguel!) found us a pet friendly room, and accommodated my many questions/requests about laundry, and how to get to the car rental place the next day in a nearly Uber-less town. The next day the rental car company couldn't get us a car till later, so the staff granted a late checkout, too. All that on top of a great breakfast in the morning in a comfortable dining area (not crammed into an alcove). If I'm back in Gardnerville I'll be back at this Holiday Inn Express! read more

We stayed here after Yelp's Tahoe Getaway, and wanted to stay outside of South of Lake Tahoe for a change of scenery. This Holiday Inn Express & Suites is immaculate and conveniently located in the town of Minden, which is a short drive from South Lake Tahoe. Upon our arrival, fresh baked cookies were warm out of the oven. The front desk was friendly and accommodating with all the restaurant questions I had. The on-site laundromat is cheap and convenient, nice to have this amenity during a family vacation. Our son really enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. Most of all, he enjoyed the free breakfast in his pj's. Stellar hospitality, free Wi-Fi with unlimited devices, free breakfast, free cookies, free coffee/tea/hot chocolate all day ~ WOW! We requested a late checkout of 1pm, and got to relax a bit longer. We will definitely come back to stay. Highly recommended when visiting Minden! read more

Terrible place. DO NOT STAY HERE. The woman at the front desk is the worst, so rude. Nothing worked here. The room was posted at $77.00 for the night, the front desk woman told me it was $119.00 and when I said, that it's posted $77 & also that nothing works here, she became very aggressive in her attitude & said " I told you we were under construction" I replied " no you did not, and even so $119 is ridiculous since nothing works" she replied "I told you & you said you had to check with your wife" " I'm not married, nor am I traveling with anyone" she was adamant " yes you are" I then asked to speak to the manager, " she's not here" I tried for 3 days calling the manager Debra was never there. This Inn is very clean and has friendly service. The only thing is this place is far from tour places (Reno - 45 mins or South Lake Tahoe - 30 min away) but we went here since its half the price of the same Inn located in South Lake Tahoe. The Inn seems new as there is construction around the parking area; looking at the reviews, this place has been around for 3 years. They are located near shops, grocery and restaurants. Rooms are very clean and unworn out beds. The sofa couch bed was in pretty good shape as well. I saw someone bring in a dog so they allowed them but probably for a fee. Our room did not smell like dog so it was good for us. They must be designated rooms for pet owners.They offer Bath & Body works products in the bathrooms. We usually go to this Inn chain as they are smoke free, allows 6 people in a room (we have 4 kids), has free use of their exercise room, indoor pool/spa and offers buffet breakfast everyday. They also have a business area and laundry room if needed. These are all my pros. I have 3 cons from this place: The 1st is the pool even if indoor, is not warm. The 2nd, the walls are super thin that I can hear all the neighbors upstairs and downstairs, and their noisy kids!! Good thing my kids were nosy to have to compete with them! Not a good place if you want a good nights sleep!! Most are up early to eat and get dibs on their free buffet breakfast! The 3rd, the wifi sucks! It keeps going on and off and sometimes just disconnects altogether! They need to upgrade to a better server!! This is why I give it a 3.5 stars but don't know how to put a half star on here. I still would go back as they have good deals and really hate to go to smoky casinos.... read more

This Holiday Inn location was a nice stay. Had availability and was able to book last minute ( via phone- when we were 30 mins away, haha) I wasn't planning on staying here but in the South Lake Tahoe one but that one was all booked. The drive to South Lake Tahoe is about 30 minutes. Not bad at all and we didn't get any traffic to and fro at all. This location was kept clean and upgraded. The staff was really welcoming and super helpful. Provided us with an Ethernet cable for my husband's computer. They didn't have one upon request but were able to find one for us. Kuddos for that. Also, my teenager got some shaving cream and a razor from the front office because he did pack his own. At breakfast time they offer continental breakfast like in other Holiday Inns, which saves me money with a a family of four. Had a good chat with the kitchen lady. Overall super nice people working here and kept very clean. read more

My wife and dog stayed here for 2 nights recently. The staff was great and especially Brandon and Ty. They recommended places to eat and when the family came were extremely accommodating. We are going back in a few months and hope to see them both again. The hotel was very clean and again the staff was great. Can't wait to go back. It was great, however when I called the front desk at 10:45pm on our second night to complain about the noise next room, Joy was not very pleasant. I have 2 small children sleeping and I think 10:45pm reasonable for me to complain. I called her twice because I got confuse with her question on which room, in short she's not very accommodating and was rushing me off the phone. The second time I called, Joy asked me if I'm sure about the noise because she can't hear it from the front desk. Seriously?! That's when it irked me and responded if she wanted me to recorded that noise, she said "nevermind." Totally RUDE. This hotel claims to be "pet friendly" but in reality it is more like "we reluctantly allow pets on the property". ALL of the grassy areas around the hotel are labeled as "No pets allowed on the lawn". There is only 1 "pet station" located in the back very dark corner of the property. The "pet station" is located in a 5'x5' planter that is covered in large sharp rocks (not the usual pea gravel or bark mulch other hotels use). I know my dogs love walking on jagged unstable surfaces. The room was another story. There is a $20 fee per pet per stay to cover "deep cleaning" of the room after a pet stay. I will have to assume that the very stained carpet in our room has NOT benefitted from this "deep cleaning". read more

What a mess. We use to stay there before we moved to Minden. Now it is a dump. The price is ridiculous. We had a flood in our house. We spent one night, $267.00. We had to choose from a room that smelled like cigarette smoke and air conditioning or one that sort of smelled like smoke and no air conditioning. We chose the no air conditioning. Still didn't matter. I couldn't breathe in the room. We left after a few hours. I hear the management takes advantage of people. They charged the $265 a night for people burnt out of their homes. She know the insurance will pay the price in an emergency. We are staying at a better place in town that does not allow animals in the rooms. They don't allow smoking smoking in most of the rooms. We have been there two weeks, what a great place. Avoid the Holiday Inn Express in Minden. It went from a good clean place to a dump. read more

Worse experience we have ever had at a hotel! We stayed there two nights ago and it was terrible. Our neighbors on one side of us to have a party late at night with loud music and loud talking. It woke us up from our sleep. After about an hour I finally got tired and called to report it. Finally about 45 minutes later the noise quieted down... at about 1am we hear yelling and swearing. We could hear their entire conversation about how they were drunk from the casino. "F**k this, f**k that". It was insane. Someone called them and we could hear their conversation as well. We ended up calling the agent at the desk to let them know about these people too. They didnt quiet down for another 1.5 hours!!! Even with the fan/heater on we could still hear these guys! To pay so much money and not be able to sleep is ridiculous. We will never stay at this property again. read more

Do not stay here. The floor was filthy. We had to wipe up a little spill - 7Up. The towel was black when we were done. Also, I got bit by either fleas or bed bugs. On my face, legs, and very badly on my right arm. It seems like a really nice, modern hotel. But the housekeeping staff is cutting corners. In the era of Covid, you expect the room to be spotless. And the breakfast is sub par. The Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches have been recooked so many times, they're inedible. read more

The hotel is fairly new, clean and nice. It is contently located near Hwy 395 and Hwy 88, with food and fuel right next to the hotel. The staff is friendly and attentive. They offer standard hotel express breakfast of eggs hard or cooked, cereal, oatmeal, bengals, muffins toast, fruit, milk, juice, tea or coffee. Also hot cinnamon rolls and fresh pancakes from a pancake machine. The first morning the pancake batter dispenser must have gotten stuck instead of round pancakes it was a pancake snake. The only thing I did not like was the beds were very firm, basically like a blanket thrown on the floor firm. I would suggest adding a thicker pillow top mattress cover to soften the beds. read more

I'm going with four stars on this, even though our experience was less-than-perfect. The good: The place is clean. Top-notch clean. They are not cutting any corners in the cleanliness of the rooms or the hotel in general. As a Certified Pool Operator I generally avoid public pools and spas due to lack of proper maintenance/cleanliness, but theirs was absolutely healthy. The breakfast is also better-than-average for this class of hotel. Too many items to list here, but it offers more than enough options to please anyone- even vegetarians. The staff were all courteous and friendly. Better than one would expect for a hotel of this class. The bad: They were remodeling half of the third floor during our stay. They gave us the first room adjacent to the work even though the hotel was probably not even half full. There was hammering, roto-hammer drills, impact drivers, loud voices, etc. This went on from 7:00 AM to roughly 7:00 PM the duration of our stay. We were told they would only be working 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but this was absolutely not the case. We were also told that with the exception of the first day it was only painting and carpet work being performed. Again, definitely not the case. Being as we were not in the hotel much during the day this was not a huge issue, but the early start was definitely annoying and disruptive. We have typically stayed at the Comfort Inn when in Minden, but that place has become run down and turned into a real sh*t hole. This was a very nice upgrade. Definitely recommended. read more

Very nice place to spend a mini vacation.Clean relaxing and service was excellent. Totally recommended if your headed up to cowboy country like the locals call it.Breakfast was nice plus the lady in charge of preparing was awesome. We enjoyed conversing with her made it feel like we were family. Is it a 5 star hotel? No. Is it a clean, friendly place to sleep when you're on the road? Yes. I've stayed here a few times on my way to Lake Tahoe. It's definitely cheaper than staying another night in Tahoe and MUCH cleaner then most of the hotels in Lake Tahoe... I had a TERRIBLE experience at the Howard Johnson in South Lake Tahoe. I love that this place is pet friendly, but think that the $20 pet cleaning fee is just a way to gouge pet owners. Let's be honest, are they really 'deep' cleaning the room after a pet has stayed there?... I didn't think so either. They do offer a free breakfast... Never had it. Cereal, bagels, yogurt, etc. nothing special, and not my cup of tea, but hey, it's there if you want it. If it weren't for the pet cleaning fee, I'd give this place 5 stars. Bottom line, it's a cheap & clean hotel exactly as advertised and much better than its competitors... From what I've experienced. read more

Coming from San Jose, CA, we arrived at 2am for our reservation. We've been quite impressed with every service: quick check in, easy access to room, room size and set up, room amenities, bedding, breakfast, free parking, late check out. I'll definitely recommend this hotel for the value, amenities and accommodations. The only drawback that I can add is location. Stayed on new years weekend, booked it because i thou it was a steal and well mostly because it looked really close from S Lake Tahoe, but oh boy its pretty much about 50mnts drive from it, but well the Holiday inn in tahoe was about 300 per night while this was half the price. So it was great to spend that on food instead. Place looks really new, but quite small only 3 stories and i guess it was the holiday weekend so it looked packed, but who knows. Room was great, as far as size and accommodations. people says walls are thin and well... they are just like at a regular house, that loud noise will sound loud. Great breakfast as usual at the Holiday Inn, lots to choose from but the worst was that their isnt enough tables and can get crowed.
