TL;DR Highly Recommend This jeweler has been in Alameda for as long as I can remember and last week was the first time I stepped foot inside. I went in to get pricing to get a couple of gold rings resized. Luckily enough I dropped 1 of the 2 rings to get resized and my fiancé and myself couldn't have been happier with the results. Im planning on getting the other ring resized soon so she has some options on which one she wants to wear. The gentleman who helped me was friendly, informative and quoted me reasonably. Even gave me a little pep talk about life. Cant beat that service AND it only took him an hour to finish the resize. Tip: if you do get something resized, if you bring "throw away" gold or silver it can be used to resize your jewelry and save you some money. read more

I just had the WORST experience with the service & work of Park St Jewelers. A simple watch battery turned into a 2 MONTH ordeal of no communication, lies, & stalling, on the part of the merchant, Mahesh. No phone calls AT ALL as promised, no estimate on "repairs" (no disclosure on sending it out to another watch-repair site.) When FINALLY after 2 months, I pick up the watch, he asked for $185. As I was never told the estimated price of repairs before beginning work, I should have known that he was up to something dishonest. He was extremely cagey & vague with his answers when asked about work, prices, time for repair etc. He also demanded my receipt back as I left! Really? So that you can destroy any evidence of transaction, when sued? Sketchy, sketchy, sketchy. Stay away. read more

So I went with my gut and the first few reviews for Mahesh and his jewelry business. I called around a couple places and they didn't sound to trusting. One place even said we don't allow anyone in. Pass. I found Park Jewelers on yelp and the overall was at 4 out of 5. Well I figured they were doing something right. Based on the other reviews I thought my fix would be around $25 dollars but he suggested he make a new one because if he melted the pieces together is would just break again. This new clamp would cost me $110. I took a minute to decide with the knowledge it would take him til the next afternoon to fix. Fast service especially during the Christmas season. The whole store is custom pieces, very nice I might add. He is transparent with his products. Some are cubic zirconia and others diamonds. Although at that point I felt they could be trusted I still asked for a diamond test on my bracelet before I left it. My mother said to always do so as they can switch out diamonds and replace with fake. Again Mahesh was very happy to bring out the diamond tester to make me feel at ease. He gave the option to pay now or later. I picked later. Returning to pick it up the next day afternoon 1pm, the time he gave me, it was done and being polished up. The finished product was not to my liking and I asked him to fix it. He said no worries we will do it right now and 5 minutes later it was done. I asked again to test the diamonds before leaving with my bracelet lol my mother called right before I was leaving. Everything was the same and cleaned. We chatted about one of his necklaces I wanted. I know it will sell before I get to it and he said he will make a new one next year. My husband saw a few items and asked me to come look. when I arrived the owner was really nice and let me try on different rings. We wanted something that he didn't have so he offered to order stones for us to look at - no obligation. He was very accommodating and knowledged about the stones. While we were looking at designs and rings, he also cleaned my wedding ring and resized it super fast. We ended up getting a beautiful ring from here. I walked in and asked to have my prongs tightened as my diamond was very slightly loose and they had it cleaned and polished and tightened in less than 5 minutes--no joke! And it was free! 30 years ago i got married. Since then i have, um, expanded. My wedding ring became dangerously tight and i needed to get it cut off. Park jewelers did it for free. He suggested that I massage the swollen finger for a few weeks and let it return to normal size. I went back two months later and had him repair and resize it. Repair plus engraving was $145. Very reasonable I think. He said I could have it in a half hour, but I came back for it later. Ready and perfect. No visible damage at all. Took in an engagement ring to be resized. He said a diamond fell out during process which is understandable. But he fixed it and assured it is fine. A few days later it fell back out and was lost. I brought it back in.... he said no problem in 20 minutes itll be fixed.....ok cool. No charge either. So at least he ruined it for free.... But this was his fix on a $7k ring. read more

I would never recommend this business. Utter disappointment at every step. Told me what I wanted was doable and a date when it would be ready. Two days after that date I called and was responded with confusion. Then it was NOT as I requested. Not even close. They ruined the gift I took there for engraving. To be fair, they did not charge me for their service and paid for the ruin gift; BUT, I don't have time to replace it now for it was for a particular day. So, no gift for my friend on a special day. Don t buy anything from this place, as they cannot be trusted at all and are completely dishonest. I paid almost three times what the jewelry was actually worth, and on top of that, it turned out to be defective. When I went to return it, the man said that he could not accept a return, even though it was defective, because he had engraved it for me - not true! He was holding the ring in his hands and could plainly see there was no engraving! I purchased a silver men s ring, from Park Jewelers. I hadn t researched how much silver rings cost, but I wanted to support a local business and I just went in trusting he would give me a decent price and a standard silver ring. I was in for several unpleasant surprises. I asked before I purchased the ring if it could be re-sized, and he said yes, no problem. When I got home, I noticed it had a circular blemish on the outside surface. I took it to a jeweler in my hometown, who told me that silver rings are always plated in rhodium, and that the blemish due to a defect in the rhodium plating, i.e. the plating had worn off or was not done properly to begin with. He pointed out that the rhodium plating was even worse on the interior of the ring, almost completely missing. I asked how much a silver ring of this size should cost, and he said about $70. Park Jewelers charged me $240, including $50 of "labor" which was never explained to me. In addition, the jeweler in my hometown told me that when silver rings are resized, they either have to be flattened, losing the curved contour, or else sawed, and there would be a seam running down the ring where it was cut to reduce the size. I had no idea that resizing would leave such a mark, and Park Jewelers didn t mention it to me at all! Although there are signs all over the store saying "no returns, exchanges only," I went to return the ring on the grounds that the rhodium plating was defective. The man berated me, told me I was being unfair, and falsely stated that he had engraved the ring for me so that it was non-returnable - he had not engraved anything! read more

I rarely write bad reviews but I am fuming mad right now because of my experience with the business owner. Went there a week ago to get batteries replaced for 3 watches (was charged $10/watch), replace the leather bracelet in one of the watches ($35), then get one watch bracelet resized (2 links removed for $15!!!). I was made to wait for an hour while the watch repair guy picked up some medication at Kaiser pharmacy. I was patient while the owner entertained other customers. When the repair guy finally came, only 2 watches were fixed. I was told I'd receive a call within an hour to get the battery replaced on the 3rd watch saying they don't have the tool to open the back of the watch & needed to find it. One hour stretched to 1 WEEK for a battery change! When my 66 year old mom came there with the claim slip, she was rudely told that the watch was already released a few days ago. She was told to go home but she was firm on getting the watch (a $400 one). The owner inventoried his shelves and was pacing back & forth at the back of the store. He was mad as hell until he finally found the watch. If there was no other customer that walked in the store that time, my mom could have been treated worse! Imagine the look of shame in his face when he realized what a big mistake he made. My mom politely thanked him (because she's nice like that). NEVER GOING BACK!!! THE OWNER IS RUDE and the SERVICE SUCKS! Updated Review (12/10/16): Surprised to get a voice message from no less than the owner this afternoon. He was profusely apologetic after he read my previous review and was even offering a $25 worth of jewelry repair. I don't need it but I truly appreciate his apology. For that I give him & his business 4 stars. Service recovery is hard and it was big of him to make an effort to make amends. The man working the front is not exactly Mr. Hospitality. I went in with 2 watches for repair. He spoke little, took the watches to the back for someone else to work on while I waited. It was so hot in the store I had to keep going outside. There's no seating in the store either. After 20 or so minutes he gives me the watches and charges me $20 + tax. When I arrive home one of the watches stopped working so I returned the next day and apparently it was just a button press change (it's digital). I went in today to see if Park Jewelers had a spare earring hook I could buy for a broken wood earring. I only needed one, and online the minimum you can get is 144 for $2 or something. What am I going to do with 144 earring hooks (or 143 after I replaced the one I'm missing)? So I thought heading to a small jewelry shop would be a quick fix, one where I could get an extra hook to round out my earring pair, and not have tons of hooks leftover with no idea what to do with them. After showing the shopkeeper the hook on the other earring and asking if he had a similar hook I could buy, he said he'd look and took them to the back. After a few minutes he came back out and offered to also change out the hoops holding the hooks on, so that they wouldn't fall off again. I said sure. How considerate, I thought. I admit I should have asked how much it would all cost, but when he came out and told me that two small hoops and one new hook would be $20, I was really surprised. I protested and he said that it was because they were all solid silver parts. Wha?? I don't need solid silver, and he should have asked me if that's what I wanted. I asked if they carried any cheaper parts and he said no. Besides that, the new hoops he put on looked awful. They were the double ring kind - like on a keychain. It was way too bulky and weird looking for the style of delicate wood earring. I was especially unhappy with this because I had initially told him that I could clamp and solder the hoops myself to secure the hooks, but went along with his suggestion because I figured he knew what he was talking about. Turns out it was just an upsell attempt, no actual care involved. I apologized and let him know that there was no way I'd pay $20 for what should reasonably only cost $1, max. He switched it all out, and I left, feeling like I almost got suckered. The two stars are because I fully acknowledge that I should have asked the cost beforehand, but after leaving feeling like I just dodged a bullet made me feel compelled to let others know about it. After reading some of these previous reviews, though, it looks like some people weren't able to just walk away unscathed. read more

Thought resizing my own watch band was too much of a hassle so decided to find some pros. They seemed to have mostly great reviews so I gave them a try. Took my women's watch in for them to adjust the band to make shorter. After they worked on it, I noticed after I got home that it didn't fit correctly / sit correctly on my arm. The watch face was not centered on wrist when worn and after moving around. Kept falling upwards. I have a tiny wrist so it needed detailed adjusting. So had to go back the next day. Had longer wait time. Took them 3 more attempts before getting it right. And they ended up scratching part of the band.. not that noticeable but I was pissed esp being a perfectionist with a brand new nice watch. Owner made me feel like I was a hassle.. jokingly of course.. haha.. not funny. It would have been quick and easy if they got it right the first time. They are not detailed or careful enough to be good jewelers. I just ended up adjusting my other new watch band myself using youtube tutorials. Should have just did that in first place with 1st watch. Not recommended for people with OCD and perfectionists like me that like to take great care of their valuables. They were nice folks though, with ok fair pricing. I just wouldn't take in high priced jewelry for repairs. Mid to low valuables may be better suited. Walk-ins easy & convenient. read more

Due to my absolutely blabby love of the ring I had made there, and its own blatant self-tell on my finger, the notables in my life are . . . well, noticing! Yesterday, a dearly beloved (whose account I am reciting, as he is not so savvy with computers beyond basic email and sports stat checking), marched into Park St. Jewelers to have a few links removed from his new watch. Absent of prior jewelery store knowledge, perhaps a bit daunted, Eric dropped by on his way to work and was utterly impressed by the courtesy, thoughtfulness, expedience, and excellent price for what might seem a simple job. For any seasoned watch aficionados reading this, you know that a good time piece is precious cargo. We've tried, with varying success over the years, to make those adjustments ourselves. Why not pay the meager 20ish bucks and have a pro do it? That way, you and the watch have an established relationship with a crew who know you, and it. Mahesh the owner is so nice and has resized several of my rings even my engagement ring which has over 50 pave diamonds and is very delicate when others said it couldn't be done he did it even making sure all my diamonds were carefully cemented in. Just dropped off wedding bands to get them enlarged slightly. We were told they were thin. Immediately I asked "will you be able to do it okay, or will it be a problem?" He responded "no problem". When I returned, he told me the ring broke. The heated it up and re-sautered poorly, leaving a very obvious line. They then added globs of "Antique" a finish that adds a patina feel (think oxidized). He showed it to me and I'm disappointed. I tried to convey that in the shop - i.e. by my facial expressions and telling him it doesn't look good. He still happily charged me full price and now I have a ring that is not even resized properly, but also been changed in look. He told me "it will look good in a week". I'm very disappointed and would not recommend this shop if you want professional work and service - or a taste of honor. read more

Do not trust Mahesh. I spent thousands of dollars there only to find out his "white gold" was silver that tarnished. Not to mention the quality of the diamonds are crap. When I went in to confront him about the jewelry, he said he never sold it to me. I had been in several times, and was very friendly with me until I came into talk about the jewelry he sold me. The owner has no honor. On one weekend, I dressed very casually and asked if he could re-strung a broken pearl bracelet. He said it would cost $25 b/c he would need to restrung all three strands. I left the store to do some price comparison. I went back to the store after a few days after work (I am in the professional industry) finely dressed. This time, he said that $25 will only cover stringing one strand and now it would cost $60 to re-do all three strands. What a rip-off. Made me a custom pendant, diamonds kept falling out, and most recently a whole piece broke off. The son is dishonest and jacks up prices, charged me $5400 for my pendant so I was very disappointed when the diamonds fell off 3 times and a whole piece broke off once. When the piece was repaired, I accidentally gave the store owner $1000 for a $700 charge, I called back 30 mins after I left the store to tell him about my mistake, he claims that he found only $100 not $300, bs but I had no proof. Will never ever buy anything from this place again, only time I'll come back is when diamonds fall off again which I'm sure it will, I believe the son has also blocked my number now because he doesn't want to own up to his work. read more

Go see Mahesh. He does a great job doing custom work and adjustments to jewelry. His prices are fair, sometimes itll be a fantastic deal. Just keep in mind his quoted or estimated time to complete your project may end up being a little off. I've learned not to purchase and requesting adjustments (sizing, changing setting from white gold to gold etc.) right before the date I plan on gifting someone. So if you need to size your ring, or polish, or like a piece of jewelry in the display cases know it will take a good couple days before he can complete your work. Sometimes the pricing he quotes is not accurate because as he is working on your piece he may need to make adjustments and spend more time (labor) then originally planned. I've definitely discovered there is a reason behind it and now I dont question his prices because he is fair and doesnt try to nickel and dime you he just may need more material or time then quoted. The results are always fabulous. I have had more than a dozen pieces adjusted, sized, pearls re-stranded, clasps changesd, settings changed, and I love it all. I actually wear my jewelry after getting it back from him. He's great. read more

This place did a very good job with fixing my ring a while back. I had purchased a ring from JC Penney that had three Black Diamonds on it and then after having it for a while, I realized one of the diamonds went missing. Park Jewelers was able to put a new Black Diamond into my ring and did not charge me very much for repairing my ring. We recently bought our wedding bands from Mahesh at Park Jewelers and I can only say that I wish I had bought the engagement ring from him as well. We had a very specific idea for wedding bands that required a completely custom design. Mahesh was very patient in working with us on creating the design, and then creating sketches that turned into 3D solid models, that then turned into wax casts. We approved each step and the end result was absolutely stunning. What was even better was the price and over all shopping experience. The custom rings, in 18k white gold, cost us significantly less than what other jewelers were charging for off the shelf designs. Even though our rings ended up requiring much more work than he originally thought due to the intricacy of the design, Mahesh kept his word and stayed under the original price he promised. So if you want fantastic, unique jewelery from a man who is very knowledgeable, patient and who uses extremely fair business practices, then shop at Park Jewelers. Mahesh is AMAZING! His custom work is beautiful, his pricing is very fair, and he is unbelievably fast. The story: My wife lost one of her white-gold earrings, a uniquely designed loop earring that had a twist. We had looked for years for something similar with no luck. When I asked him if he could find another similar pair, he said that he could make a single matching earring. When I told him that I was just visiting the Bay Area and my flight was the next day, he said, "No problem, I'll have it done by tomorrow morning before your flight". Of course, I was a little (actually very) skeptical and he told me if it wasn't finished or not done to my satisfaction, I wouldn't have to pay anything. I didn't think he would be able to make a second earring that matched the first, because the design was so non-standard and the twisted loop would be hard to duplicate. Not only did he have it done before my flight, it was done THAT VERY AFTERNOON! He matched the earring so perfectly that I literally could not tell which was the one I gave him to copy and which was the one he custom-made. My wife was blown-away that anyone could copy the earring so perfectly, and of course she was deliriously happy - and so was I. Mahesh is a master craftsman and a pleasure to work with. read more
