Extremely rude. Nasty attitudes, will not be back. No good jewelry anyway and over priced.

Ok... to keep this as short as possible, I won't be returning here again because I don't feel this business is honest... I mayyyyybe can give benefit of the doubt but I highly doubt "they didn't know" .... I gave 2 stars because they were willing to change out a clasp for me that another jeweler wouldn't. I had a DY clasp that honestly just sucked fucking ass.. would loosen up after 5 minutes because it's an adjustable sliding clasp.. I went in to change out my clasp, which also meant it would have to be shortened too... now to get to the issues. 1 thing I don't play about is my gold. I paid for 18k and I asked several times to ensure the clasp that's being used for my bracelet was indeed 18k. But when I got home, I kept staring at my clasp and it looked off.. very off. Color was not giving 18k. I know my gold. So I decided to use a magnifier to look at the markings... and there they were... marked 585 - which is indicating it's 14k.. I went back to get my bracelet shortened some more and kindly brought up the fact that I checked the markings and so Diane looked at it with a magnifier and gave me the "oh I checked and was sure it was 18k... he (the goldsmith) probably had his own stuff back there" spiel - basically alluding to the fact that it was probably the goldsmith's fault - but lets be real.... 2. The other goldsmith the second time around was annoyed that I wanted to a shorten my bracelet even more after she cut off a couple links, because it was still really loose on me. IT TOOK HER A TOTAL OF 10 MINS to do it TWICE - if even! She tossed my bracelet on the counter - basically like "here" and had this immense annoyance on her face. 3. The new clasp is scratched up and I can barely see the marking stating it's 18k - but it may be because you can see "8k" however, because I am DONE dealing with the dishonesty & I unprofessionalism, I refuse to return. The ONLY good thing that came out of this is that I got my bracelet fitted to my liking and I can wear it without fear of it falling off. And though I'm sure they tried to intentionally play me because they thought imma dummy and was talking shit in their language (I'm sure), Diane was still "friendly" and got what I needed done - done. Oh not to mention- one of the first things I was asked was what ethnicity I was... maybe so they can speak in their native tongue and I wouldn't understand. Hope this helps. So while in Oakland my lovely daughter decided she wanted to get a Jade Bracelet, so my son and daughter-n-law took us to China Town. So this place gets 5 starts because they were the only ones that let us in....you read that right. We walked around for 45 minutes and they were the only ones to let us in. It is a family owned business and they were really a lot of fun. I feel bad for China Town, with all the robberies down there they just know who they can trust. Most of the time I come here she is fixing something I've broken but yesterday my little sister wanted a jade bracelet so I brought her straight to Phuong. We shopped around after we got the price just to compare and as I predicted this was not only the best priced jade bracelet but they had the best customer service also! Unfortunately due to other reasons most of the other jewelry stores wouldn't open the doors but it is what it is. I would come to Phuong Jewelry every time I needed the clasp on my bracelet fixed as it would loosen overtime. The last time that I did business here I had the lobster claw replaced on my 10k bracelet and was charged $50 for the new piece. A few weeks later my bracelet fell off my wrist and the "replacement" I was charged for was the original. I can tell by the old markings and scratches I had on it. When I returned during business hours to try and get it repaired again I wasn't even let inside, and Diane the business owner told me that "they were busy". I kindly asked when they would be open later as this was around 12ish in the afternoon, and she waved me off with no response and shook her head as she dismissed me from outside. Not only is this business rude and unprofessional, but they're also dishonest. Charging $50 for a "replacement" to only give the original back, and not stand by your faulty work down the line when the same issue persists is crazy. I will never do business here again. read more

I came to Oakland Chinatown looking for a 24k gold Chinese zodiac pendant. Being Asian, I was a little nervous coming to Oakland Chinatown, but I knew this is where I can find 24k gold jewelry. I visited 3 stores, and each requires a buzzard to enter. Phuong Jewelry had a guy sitting by the door in what looked like a security guard uniform. He was an older guy, but nevertheless, his presence made me feel safer. The lady that helped me was friendly and knowledgeable. Gold jewelry is sold by the weight + a markup for craftsmanship. I found exactly what I was looking for, and the lady weighed it in front of me. She gave me a quote and let me look up close and take pictures. The price was pretty good but there was another store just down the street that had the same item for slightly cheaper (like $20). But I found out the other store has a 3% credit card fee. Phuong Jewelry does not have a credit card fee, thus making their price the best. Maybe I should have, but I didn't haggle (not good at that). I'm happy with my purchase, and the Chinatown experience was not bad. read more

This place has beautiful jewelry! Authentic Silver, gold, and jade! Of course they also carry the non-authentic metals. But, the photos can speak for itself. My mom knows the owner to this place and they know her. My mom hadn't been here for few years and they still remember her. Now that says a lot about a business owner and customer relationship doesn't it?!? Anyway, it was first time here and I absolutely drooling over the beautiful jewelry. They have necklaces, charms, rings bracelet...from real gold to gold filled and silver. Love it all! They also have a selection of Wedding and engagement rings with beautiful diamonds. I searched all over San Diego for an engagement ring, but I couldn't find a ring that matched the criteria I was looking for. I kept getting inconsistent advice, quotes, and etc from several businesses. So one day when I flew out to San Francisco for work, I decided to check the business out personally. I was very specific on the type of diamond ring that I was looking for, as it was very difficult to find yellow diamond that met my criteria in San Diego. They had a decent selection of yellow diamonds, but none of them were what I was looking for. They didn't try to persuade me to find a different diamond or sell me on something else, but instead told me they can search around and give me a call back within a week. When I got back to San Diego on a Friday, I received a call from the lady who owns the place who advised me that she picked up a few yellow diamonds that I might like and wanted to FaceTime. We FaceTime'ed for a good hour and she showed me all my options and gave me details on each diamond. Right off the bat on the first diamond ring she showed me, I was sold. She hit every detail that I was looking for and was able to provide the GIA certification details to prove it! So how did I get the ring? I was VERY nervous of them shipping it to me, but was reassured that they do this frequently and would purchase insurance to cover it. I was going to give 5 stars but the lady lied to me saying the chain was 18k gold when I knew it was 14k she did that with a few chains that I was looking at and her excuse was "she didn't look at it very well". I came in looking for a 18k chain for my 24kt Suisse bar pendant although they had several 24kt chains I always prefer 18k for chains because 24kt chains are so hard to maintain due to being very soft. They have a lot of to choose from and their prices are actually good but they are very hard to bargain with lol. My engagement ring was an emerald cut, and it was difficult for me to find a band that went with that shape.
