What must have been a really faulty prescription to begin with, provided by an itinerant optician, has turned into a major dilemma for me. I have gone back three times now in the last year and each time it is "obviously my fault":. The first time I went back, I was wearing them wrong down on my nose. The second time I went back, I was wearing them with faulty posture. The third time I went back I was given a new eye exam and told that I needed prism readers. The third time cost $105 for the exam. I am the guy who is wearing the glasses and I know what the problem is with this prescription. It's simply faulty and has been from the get-go. So much for carriage trade opticians. I'm definitely going back to the Cleveland Clinic for my eye exam. read more

Have been getting glasses here on and off for over 20 years but the decline in service has been terrible and will not be going back. You would think that if you're spending $1,000 on a single pair of glasses, they would take some time with you. I walked into the Fairmount location on a fairly busy Saturday with my 92 year-old father in law, who was in desperate need for an eyeglasses adjustment. One of the attendants noticed us, and saw that my father would not last long waiting. She came right over and was extremely professional and respectful in everything she did for him. Glasses were fixed for no charge and we were out within 10-15 minutes. They earned a loyal customer in me on that day. So grateful. read more

Got my new glasses from Park Opticians at Fairmont Circle and I had a great experience. After shopping at both Lenscrafter and Pearle Vision and not finding frames that I really liked and that were in the price range I was looking for, I decided to give Park a try. The experience is much different, with the large chains, they have you go around the shop and pick out frames and then they kind of help guide you through your choices. Park takes a different approach where they sit you down and bring you frames that fit what you are looking for. While the chains have really nice displays, Park has a huge selection and they do a fantastic job of helping you. I had picked out a set of frames that I liked, but when I went back the next day with my prescription, they suggested some other frames and I found a pair that were even better and were a bit less expensive. The other thing that really impressed me was once I had frames selected they were very good about explaining the lenses options and the pricing. Rather then trying to upsell me to more expensive options, they helped me pick out just what I wanted. I chose Park Opticians for my first-ever eye exam and pair of glasses because it is convenient to my home and I have long admired the fanciful frames in their window display. The process of scheduling my appointment was pleasant and when I arrived on the appointed day, I was quickly helped back to the exam room. Dr. Fuldhauer performed a thorough examination and, with prompting, explained his findings to me. I would have appreciated some additional explanation and information, though, as I had never needed glasses previously. I did not receive a summary of his findings or a copy of my prescription, which would have been helpful. I almost felt as though this was to prevent me from having the glasses made elsewhere, which I had not intended to do, but it left me with a strange feeling nonetheless. I adjourned to the showroom and happily set about trying on frames. Their selection is truly top-notch and a large part of the reason I chose to come here. I was easily able to find a handful of frames that I loved - the hardest part was narrowing down the final choice. The woman who was assisting me in my selection did an admirable job of responding to my stated preferences, which I made rather clear. If I weren't as certain of my likes and dislikes, however, the strong opinions she offered may have overpowered my thought process. I ended up choosing a classic, black pair of Valentino acetate frames (with a subtly edgy spike on the corner of the frames which I love) which were fitted to my face and set with my prescription in under 30 minutes. Nelson, the lovely gentleman who worked on this all-important final step really provided me with excellent service. I left with a pair of glasses that I absolutely love but with mixed feelings about the service I received. I had a very frustrating experience with Scott Fuldauer, the optometrist at Park Opticians, last weekend. I wouldn't recommend him. When I explained a problem I'm having to him, he told me it didn't make any sense. When I told him I'm having trouble seeing up close, he scoffed and told me I'm "a little young for that." He was confrontational with me about the size of my pupils (!!). He was grouchy with me when I struggled with the eye test. He wasn't familiar with a medication I take and looked it up on wikipedia, then suggested based on what he'd read on wikipedia that the medication was my problem. Everything I said was met with a scoff/a brush off/a confrontational response. It was odd and frustrating. I ended up leaving without a contacts prescription (a main reason for my appointment) because I didn't want to make him mad by asking another question. read more

I had seen two different people wearing super cool glasses and I asked them where they found them. Both of them said Park Opticians in Univ Heights. Their frames were so unique so I knew I was in for a treat when I entered the store. I am used to going into Lenscrafters (gag) because that was all I knew because my prescription is so bad. I would spend forever trying to find frames I liked with no one to give me an opinion of how they looked with my face shape, hair color, personal style, etc. So, I walk into Park Optical. Super nice selection of well-known and lesser-known, boutique brands (right up my alley). Never in my life have I had two women size me up so quickly and pick out frames for me that looked spectacular. They evaluated my eyes, shape of my face, etc. I probably tried on 6-8 different frames, and honest to God all of them looked great on me. I was blown away. Within 12 minutes, I had settled on a pair of frames. And it was a cat eye shape which I never thought would look good on me but they did. Now, the pair of frames I picked out cost $500 but all in with all the crazy stuff that needs to be done to make my coke bottle prescription look good, the bottom line price was LESS THAN Lenscrafters. So if that doesn't tell you how much price inflation goes on at Lenscrafters I don't know what does. And all work is done in-house. I was so giddy that I practically floated out of there. I just had a great experience at Park Opticians. I am 68 years old and have been wearing glasses since I was 3. I have never had a better eyeglass buying experience. Cindy was my salesperson and she was terrific. She was patient and helpful as I picked out my frames. They have an extensive collection of frames so it does take a while to choose. I wear progressive lenses and I need custom measurements for the viewing areas. She was great at that. She said it would take 7 to 10 days to get my glasses, but they were done in 3. I now see better than I have ever done in 20 years of wearing progressive lenses. Park Opticians are certainly more expensive than the discount and big box scores, but you get what you pay for. They are also one of the few Cleveland opticians recommended by my doctor at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute. read more

After my appointment, I walked around the sales floor for a good 30 minutes without being acknowledged. Two couples walked in later that I did and were served immediately for picking up glasses. Another client and I tried to help each other pick out glasses because the staff was so inattentive. Finally, one of the employees did acknowledge me, I had one pair of eyeglasses in my hand that were a maybe, and he immediately said, oh so this is what you want? No. I didn't know what I want. I had received absolutely no guidance on what I should have. I left. I didn't even bother sticking around to see what was going to happen. I'm going to try Eyewear at the Hamptons and see if my experience is better. read more

Absolutely appalling service for the price. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GO HERE! My family member went their for the first time as our regular place closed. He brought in an up-to-date prescription over two months ago and ordered a pair of glasses. He has been back to the store numerous times as there have been many mistakes and lack of follow-thru. I have been wearing glasses and contacts for over thirty years. I had been a Sears Optical customer and then tried America's Best when my Sears optician joined the Cleveland Clinic. When my glasses from America's Best became so scratched that I could not longer see out of them (and that happened fairly quickly) and I realized I needed bifocals, I decided to spend a little more and get a good pair of glasses. I had heard good things about Park Opticians, so chose to go there. I called as soon as they announced they were opening after the COVID-19 shutdown. I wore a mask and had a very good eye exam with Dr. Fuldauer. The room was well-sanitized, and we both wore masks. My service on the sales floor was also excellent. She helped me choose a pair of glasses that flatter my face. I tried on 10 pair before deciding. When I picked up my progressive bifocals I was nervous, because I have heard there is quite an adjustment period. My glasses were so well done that I had zero adjustment period. I had no dizziness or headaches and could see everything absolutely clearly. I attribute that to the excellent eye exam and the competent technician who put in the lenses. Thank you. Its like a cult in there. You walk in and all them employees hungrily stare at you and try to size you up. Same thing when you leave. They are overpriced and offer poor service. Horrible recommendations on frames and lenses. They pretty much rely on uninformed customers and take advantage of them. I visited this shop while in town for work about a month ago and have been meaning to write a review ever since. First off, they were the only shop to carry the frame collection that I have been wearing consistently over the past 5+ years so figured they'd be the most knowledgeable and best to service my frame. Not only did this prove to be true during my visit but they also had a bigger range of frames from my beloved collection than I have ever seen in any optical store before. So while I wasn't expecting it, I not only received the best service to bring life back to my old frame, but I also ended up walking out with a new frame to add into my personal collection! I think your experience here will depend on who you work with. In terms of selection, this place deserves a 5-star rating. Beautiful selection, huge selection. Some really unique frames. I gave a lower overall rating because of a bad experience I had there. I went in one day and received the kind of service I appreciate...greeting me in a friendly way, offering to help, allowing me to browse as I desire, being available within a reasonable amount of time to answer questions, and checking in from time to time. I went in again a few days later to select a frame from those I had seen and liked during my first visit. I was helped by someone different this time, and she made me feel uncomfortable and even a bit unwelcomed. I decided to leave the store after I felt she had been insulting to me and the family member who had come with me. There is a fine line between opinions and insults, and in my experience, this line was crossed. The woman who opened the shop decades ago is still there, and she is kind and thoughtful. I'm sorry to give a low rating that would tarnish the reputation of her store, but because of the rude treatment I received on my second visit, I will not be back. If someone asks me if I would recommend it, I would say "Yes, go, if only to see the great selection, but don't work with [name omitted]." read more

I went to this store because they were one of the only stores that had designer frames and took my insurance, VSP. This retailer is unlike any upscale eyeglass store I have ever visited in any city. The interior is extremely dated, and their prices are astronomical. But the real thing that helps Park Opticians stick out is how rude each store employee is to their customers - every single person who works there, including the owner. When I asked to take home a number of pairs to show family members like other stores let you do, they asked me what kind of car I drove (as if that would be an accurate measure of my honesty). For some reason, I made a purchase anyway. When the frames I bought quickly lost their clear plastic coating in the first few months, they were unwilling to help. I asked if they could call the manufacturer for me, and the response from the salesperson was, "I see how you treat your iPhone - did you call Apple when the back of it cracked?"Even though it's not physically possible, I would pay double to buy eyewear from any other business. read more

I went here to get a replacement set of glasses for my son. The first time I walked in, there was no response from any of the staff and I went looking for someone. I thought this was a little odd- as there was a woman right by the entrance who could have looked up and told me someone would be right with me, etc. There is no front desk, per say, so that would have been helpful. When picking up the prescription later, I walked in and 6 people came walking toward me. I wasn't sure who to address but saw my sales guy (who was very nice and professional) so I said I was there to pick up a prescription and walked toward the guy. One of the staff, maybe the owner (?) said loudly and rudely "Identify yourself!!" It was bizarre and rude and I felt embarrassed and belittled. Meanwhile I'm picking up 200$ frames. I called to say how I thought I was treated rudely and the woman who answered the phone said "I'm not sure how to respond to this." I was shocked and said "How about saying you're sorry I had an unfortunate experience in your store?" She said, "I did say that." Which was an outright lie. I believe it was the owner on the phone. I know this is a small business and I respect that, but I have rarely been treated so rudely in a store and then on the phone when following up. Unbelievable. Dr. Fuldauer is a an incompetent Doctor.. After trying to get the lense done three times, it still wasn't right. My vision was actually worse in the lenses than without. Finally went to another doctor to have my eyes tested, and brought my prescription that Dr Fuldauer gave me. It wasn't even close to being correct. It was as if he gave me someone else's prescription. When I called Park to let them know, they said "well, good luck, I guess, doing whatever it is that you decide to do with your lenses" They didn't apologize or offer to redo the lenses with the proper prescription. There are plenty of places in Cleveland to get cool frames - and from cool people. Save yourself the $$$ and time and aggravation. read more

The staff here are friendly, very knowledgeable and patient when they provided me with options on which eyeglass frame best suited me. I had some issues with the nosepads, I brought them back in for an adjustment and it was done in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend Park Opticians for your next pair of frames. If you want some high quality frames outside of the cheap stuff they have at Lenscrafters, definitely make a visit here to see the variety of awesome frames they have. I've purchased many pricey glasses from Parks in the past but I've noticed over time the service has declined. I have to say they've always offered a cool selection of eyewear but during my last visit we received horrible service. I also noticed that my prescription wasn't being filled correctly which was the last straw. Maybe the owner and staff doesn't realize that customers are the reason you have a business or maybe they don't need customers. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere because they surely don't appreciate it. The rude and very nonchalant way of addressing customers doesn't mix well with high prices. Things have changed especially now when you can order on line and get exceptional service for a fraction of the cost. read more
