It came as a great recommendation! We didn't have it for a while since we live the low-carb life but were thrilled to learn they do a "sub in a tub". I love their tuna salad/sub. Their bread is soft, back when I could eat it. They don't overfill it with mayo either and add some mild peppers or hot on request. I like that they don't have onions at the deli so it doesn't overpower everything else. My husband typically loves the club. They rolled a generous amount into a container and I used scissors to quickly and easily cut it. It was a perfect lunch and I have enough for another tomorrow! For $8, or $11 for a generous tuna scoop, you can't beat it. Staff is also quick and friendly at the deli, as well as checkout. You can find all kinds of things for the house or to gift someone whether it's food, a cookie jar, something imported from Italy, or a homemade meal. You'll find something for everyone.

The olives are just a perfect match to that super tender roast beef! Took home some vodka sauce and smoked mozzarella gnocchi for dinner too. The gnocchi are really nice fluffy pillows unlike any I've had before. So light.

The deli is the main attraction, and we got a couple sandwiches. I got a reuben, their leanest cut, and it was really good. There was so much meat--too much for me, but it is super filling. They also have a bakery, though I didn't pick anything up from there. There's lots of soups, too, which I'll probably pick up if I visit again. There are some specialty foods, and they have some tables both in and outside if you'd like to stay a while.

Place the order at one end of the counter and you pick it all the way on the end. They take the sandwich in back to finish it. I ordered a corned beef on an onion roll. While I waited they have a nice selection of baked goods. Cookies, bread and desserts!! The decor is eclectic with nice nods to delis. I received my sandwich and ate outside, because the indoor dining area was full. My sandwich was really good, I would like a little extra mustard next time. The meat was tender and flavorful. The pickles they give you are top notch.

There's a two-sided counter in the middle with freezer and refrigerator cases full of deliciousness on one side and the sandwich and cold case items, like macaroni salad, eggplant rolls, marinated olives, etc. on the other. I had the Italian sub, and our group also ordered an Italian Beef and a Meatball sub, plus some macaroni salad to share. All were made to order and were delicious. We didn't have a cooler with us of we'd have picked up the lasagna as recommended by a man picking up dinner for guests and his wife, or some of the fresh sausages or meatballs. Highly recommend eating here in general and definitely before going to nearby Rolling Stones or HIP!

They have an array of variations and several different assortments of Italian seasonings, sides, desserts, sauces, frozen pizza, cans of goodies for all of your main dishes and not to mention fresh bread! Service was friendly and efficient! We got there right before noon on a weekday afternoon and it started getting packed quickly! Their 12 inch sandwiches are HUGE. We really enjoyed their arranchini ! It's the best one I've ever had and the second best one my husband has ever had next to the ones he tried in actual Italy! Loved their chewy texture and offering it warmed up with sauce. Delectable and simply devine! Would love to come back to try their breaded steak sandwich ! You can't go wrong with whatever you order. Their homemade spicy sausage is also amazing! Decently affordable for the quality that you're getting. They take both cash and card. Really enjoyed the old school Italian Chicago neighborhood vibes!

The store is very clean and spacious, lots of room to move around. Everything I bought was certainly fresh. The kajmak (buttery cheese spread), urnebes (spicy red pepper and cheese spread), suvi vrat (smoked pork shoulder), and roasted red peppers were all excellent. I will be back to try some smoked sausages, and cevapi on their grill. I was a customer at the original D.S.D. location on Lawrence that closed over 10 years ago, which had been open since the 1960's. Moved on to George's until they also closed a few years later. Imagine my surprise seeing "D.S.D. Deli" on google maps, so glad to see an old favorite back in business. This is a new location, but the same quality Serbian food that I loved at the old location. Very important to support local and family owned business, which are the fabric of our community. Sadly some people don't understand that.

Would highly recommend giving it a try. The crowd is a lot of Balkan folks but they get excited about non-Balkan people coming to enjoy their excellent food. So far the best Serbian place I've had in the Chicagoland. Their Burek was life-changing. It was gone in less than 24 hours.
