Went here because we wanted some Burek with meat to go & ended up staying for some Plejeskavica - the Serbian's answer to hamburgers with a lot more seasoning and onion grilled in, paired with Kajmak (thick creamy dairy spread), lepinja (bread). Was a nice hearty meal to some spend time, waiting for the Burek, while some soccer played. The service and ambiance inside is great and hospitable they're nice people, just like many Balkan places. Would highly recommend giving it a try. The crowd is a lot of Balkan folks but they get excited about non-Balkan people coming to enjoy their excellent food. So far the best Serbian place I've had in the Chicagoland. Their Burek was life-changing. It was gone in less than 24 hours. read more

The food here is excellent and homemade. Staff were welcoming and friendly, greeting customers and offering free samples. The store is very clean and spacious, lots of room to move around. Everything I bought was certainly fresh. The kajmak (buttery cheese spread), urnebes (spicy red pepper and cheese spread), suvi vrat (smoked pork shoulder), and roasted red peppers were all excellent. I will be back to try some smoked sausages, and cevapi on their grill. I was a customer at the original D.S.D. location on Lawrence that closed over 10 years ago, which had been open since the 1960's. Moved on to George's until they also closed a few years later. Imagine my surprise seeing "D.S.D. Deli" on google maps, so glad to see an old favorite back in business. This is a new location, but the same quality Serbian food that I loved at the old location. Very important to support local and family owned business, which are the fabric of our community. Sadly some people don't understand that. read more

This place is truly amazing! What can I say.. it is clean, service is beyond amazing, fast and they have the best, THE BEST CEVAPI YOU WILL FIND IN ILLINOIS!! Cevapi are made from 100% black angus beef and they feel like home. I understand we all come from different homes and we all have taste for different things and standards and that it ok, but when something is good and quality you can see that. And DSD deli offer none less than great quality. Homemade style Burek, Cevapi, Smoked meat, cheese, cooked meals, sweets.. all in one place. My fave is cold cut Vesalica, Burek, cheese spread made in DSD Urnebes salata.. They roast pigs and lambs by occasion and they can cater your next special celebration. Oh they also make their own bread and lepinje and lately they have special burek with apples. Must try. They also sell premium cuts of meat for grill, paired with their salads and some refreshing drinks and they have you covered. Order online or by phone but do not miss the chance to enjoy some of those delicious food!! They will tell you a story how everything started, they will offer you to try whatever your heart desire and you will leave happy! Had the pleasure of stopping by D.S.D. this afternoon. Had a great chat with one of the owners of this family business who told me about their operation and shared some generous samples of their cured and smoked meats. Everything I tried was delicious! As they are currently in a "soft opening" mode I'd say maybe give them a ring before you head over if you are looking for something specific. I grabbed some very reasonably priced cured and smoked beef loin that I am very excited to eat with some bread and cheese this evening. I am looking forward to returning to grab some delicious meats/cheeses for future charcuterie boards and cevapi for a summer barbecue. read more

Right now I can tell you that they do offer Angus Beef specialties and they will have a coffee delight station set up very soon too to bring the best of the best to the neighborhood. I love smoked meats and I'm seeing some hickory smoked options here today, as well as a great variety of Greenridge natural cheeses ( Greenridge produces some of the best of the best cuts & cheeses! They have all natural pork cracklings which are available for keto friendly guests. They have a goal of offering roasted options daily so you can bring the best to your family's and friends tables and only the best. They have quality carbonated mineral water for those who are fans of it like I am. They also offer baking goods mixes that have been tested and are some of the best. You can come check those out and pick which ones you will bring with you to prepare at home such as pudding, truffle cake, and cupcakes just to name a few. They have flour for crepes to cook at home, as well as vinegar from Europe and an extremely amazing spice selection. I was lured in by the awesome pics on Facebook and Yelp, dragged the hubs along, and thought we had dinner in the bag. Instead, we were underwhelmed and ignored. Besides the empty shelves, it was dead and the one person working prioritized chatting it up with the only other person in the place. We decided to wait and see if we would be acknowledged and after 10 minutes the answer was...no. The worst part? We actually paid for parking. What a waste of time and money. read more

10 stars all the way. Stopped in again and asked for Dan and received a friendly Greeting! I was able to snatch 2 slices of the meat Burek which was awesome, flaky and the filo dough done to perfection. I have tried this frozen from my local grocer and now I see the difference. It is like comparing a frozen store bought pizza to a 5 star fresh pizza from a local leading restaurant. I now have his famous Veal soup in my cross hairs the next time I stop in again. D.S.D. is back... YES! This was the best deli in town while I was growing up in Old Irving Park area, they were originally in Albany Park, now relocated in Jefferson Park (on Milwaukee one block south of Foster) and they have PERFECTED their cevapi with secret seasoning and high end angus beef. Walk into this deli and try it all, it's all amazing. My opinion may be a little biased, one of the chefs is my sister that brings all her home cooking to the neighborhood, I guarantee everything you try will knock your socks off, she's really impressed me over the years and now everyone can share the same experience I've been so lucky to have. The store itself is beautifully done by her husband, my brother in law, and I'm so excited for them to have finally opened, it's been a long journey during the Covid times, but they're open and ready for everyone to enjoy. FYI... this is more then just a deli, it's more like a mini boutique grocery/bakery store, stop in and check it out, you'll be pleasantly surprised to see all the goodies. YOU MUST try the tuna salad, taffy apple salad, and cinnabons when available... to die for. Soon they will be offering a variety of sandwiches, for now a week into opening, smoked meats, cevapi as mentioned, roasted lamb one of my favorites and something new they're offering is burek which is a pastry that's another fav. The hubby and I decided to check out this deli after reading about it in the local Nadig Press Newspaper. At first impression it looks sparse, unlikely to appease, but considering this is a place that opened during a pandemic and is making it work is commendable. When we saw the smoked meats and talked with the owners who were busy prepping for a catered order, we were impressed with the dedication to authenticity. They graciously took the time to explain the smoking process that sets them apart from the rest, offered samples of the smoked pork bacon, the sausages, and pork roast. Absolutely five star flavor on all we consumed! D.S.D. Is in its infancy to becoming a destination deli and future eatery. Understandably, they are doing their best to bring more items to the show case while maintaining a balance of supply and demand. For any business owner, no easy feat! February 8th was our first time visiting D.S.D Deli, Bruno, and Dan were so kind to explain their vision. They have only been open a month, 25% of inventory but what I've tasted so far has blown me away. My husband and I went back today to pick up food for our office. They grilled the sausages to perfection and the cheese spread paired with the home cook bread will be a staple in my home and office moving forward. I shopped there a few days ago for their soft I shopped here a few days ago for the soft opening, and I can safely say that I will never be buying my meat anywhere else again! The owners were there to tell me all about their meat, and believe me when say you can taste the quality. All of their meat is 100% certified angus beef which find very impressive. They offer Greenridge cold cuts and cheeses which are my favorite, and smoke meat and sausages in house! They also offer a wide selection of packaged Serbian foods and snacks that I look forward to trying. Their baked goods that I have tried are out of this world, and the owners told me that they will be getting a coffee roasting machine and start offering coffee (which am very excited about!). They will also start offering prepared foods and sandwiches, and I will definitely be coming here regularly to pick up lunch on my lunch break!
