Park Seed customer service is terrible. They Do not answer emails, phone calls are on hold forever and nothing on their website on how to do a return/refund other than the info@parkseed.com and then they send an automated reply with no response. Finally talked to someone today who was in a call center somewhere, now he says they need pictures... why isn't that on their website... we have been trying to resolve this for a month!! read more

I ordered some things with a Visa gift card on Feb 16th, it processed just fine online, even shows their payment pending on my card. I get a call from them on Feb 19 saying it won't process and they need another form of payment. After back and forth (They said I have to register an address for my card but my card doesn't require that, it went through just fine, anyway...) I asked that they just cancel the whole order and refund my money. I then received an email message that they already shipped it (without payment apparently?) so I should write return to sender on it and send it back. I did that and they still haven't removed the pending payment on my card, so I still can't use my card! I was buying from another company, and very happy with their seeds. I decided I wanted to grow a small jalapeño plant and this came up in my search. I decided to try this company for the heck of it, thinking two good company options are better than one. So after I read a few probably fake targeted good reviews I luckily only ordered a small package of cilantro and pepper plant seeds. When I received the package, I thought the pepper plant seed packet was empty and it was a manufacturing error. I had to completely cut open the packet and found that there were only 10 tiny seeds in there for $6 plus shipping! I wrote them and said are you kidding me? Only 10 seeds?! I of course got no response. The cilantro seeds I had from before grew and I didn't bother checking that I still had some left. I should've used those, but I thought I would use them no matter what, at some point. The ones I got from Park I put in my aero garden where I tend to start things, because anything viable can grow in an aero garden! Out of two different pods of about 16 seeds total only two seeds have sprouted. The others are just sitting there molding. I've ordered from park seed for several years but never gave a review a second thought. In the past and currently I have always been pleased with the quality of their products and the speed of their service, even during the pandemic their shipping was consistently better than some of the other suppliers that I have used in the past. Having worked in the greenhouse industry for nearly 25 years I completely understand the challenges in shipping live plants (we stopped shipping bare root and live plants to non-com (amateurs) 10 years ago because most people don't understand the difference between live plant and dormant bare root). Park seed has some of the best packaging methods that I have ever seen. My orders were placed this year on may 9th- my live plants were received today (may 12) my seed only portion shows tracking will be received may 16. I trust Park Seed to have excellent germination rates and extremely fresh seeds and have yet to have any issues. In most cases germination rates greater than 80% are achieved with box store cell packs and domes, in a germination chamber timed lights, temperature and proper humidity I consistently see rates of nearly 100%. Live plants and bare roots are also outstanding keep in mind that no matter how carefully packaged a bare root or a live plant is still at the mercy of the shipping company. read more

Bought a packet of profusion zinnias, which grew well while in the greenhouse. Unfortunately, they began to die slowly when planted in my garden, despite proper watering, feeding and sunshine. No insects or disease killing them. There is obviously something wrong with the plants, genetically, which is the case with many growers who harvest and package poor quality seeds like these. Definitely not worth $3.95 for a seed packet. I would not recommend this grower for anything, if this is the type of seeds they sell. The photo shows one after 4 months. I purchased 2 T5 light bulbs from park seed which now seems like a terrible decision. I received my package very quickly. Unfortunately, the lights were package loosely with nothing other than some cardboard strips on the sides which still left over a foot of free space. The lights were broken right down the middle and glass was falling out of the plastic package that the lights were contained in. Not only was this just a pretty bunk way to package something that is extremely fragile. It has been over a month and they have yet to refund me or send me new lights. I have sent multiple emails to them with photos which that they "claim" are not viewable or that they haven't received them. It took 2 weeks for them to respond to me after my initial contact with them. So there's that. I am very disappointed with Parkseed, the lights are each $13 so it is kinda dumb to get mad over them. Overall though my experience with them was pretty disappointing. Not only is their customer service dicey some of the materials used in their products are STYROFOAM which is pretty rough on the planet. If they feel ok using this material then do they really care for the planet. Or do they just wanna suckle at the teat of mama earth until her nipple is chafed and unproductive. I started gardening in all my spare time of 2020. Thanks to a friend and Youtube, I turned my black thumb green. So in 2021 I thought I would try growing from seeds. I bought some seeds from the H-Depot store, and some from a Dollar store. Then I found ParkSeed for my window box. I found a beautiful mix I loved, Fuseables® Silk 'n Satin Petunia-Bacopa Seeds 1 fuseable seed pellet with 2 kinds of plants, I bought 3 packs. When they finally arrived I had forgotten the name of what I bought. The name of the plants was not on the seed pack, it just said Fuseable Satin and Silk, so I went to the site. After a long search, and not finding it by the Satin and Silk name, I tried customer service. The live chat was useless, email never got back to me, so 3 days after email I called and got the "why are you calling" type of attitude. They did help me figure out what I had bought, but could give me no info past that, and there was no horticulturist I could talk with. So I followed the directions on the pack to a tee, and constantly referred to Youtube for all my seed knowledge and I was able to grow something from all the different seeds I bought. All of the ParkSeed seeds came up and I was excited. Once I planted the baby plants in the window box and added fertilizer, it took about 2 weeks to notice more growth. When they really started growing I noticed all the leaves looked the same, but thought that might change. So now after putting 20 baby plants in the window box at the beginning of May, it is August and all I have to show for it is in the pic below. The Bacoa came up, but no Petunia's at all, and the Bacoa is so low it barely even fills up or flows over the box. I added pics of the seed pack, what the website picture looks like and what my flower box looks like in comparison. Here also is some of what the page said on the website. "This combo planting is good for sun or shade. Both Bacopa and Petunia do a great job of withstanding the heat and humidity of long summers, and neither minds a bit of afternoon shade, either. Set them fearlessly on the baking-hot deck, porch, or back patio. They can take it. Best of all, these blooms are self-cleaning, so you don't have to go around deadheading the literally thousands of flowers these plants will bear over their long 3 seasons of bloom. I ordered seeds on 4-30-20. On May 11 Parkseed responded to my inquiry and stated seeds would ship 5-18-20 week. Today May 22 Parkseed stayed seeds would ship August 20. I ordered 2 Jane Seymour roses. After a wait, they finally arrived. I could not believe the HORRIBLE condition in which they arrived! The stems were BLACK and covered with a thick (nasty smelling) mold/fungus. To make matters worse... when I called their "customer service", the woman tried blaming the weather!!! She said it was because of hot weather! The shipping time was only 6 days... there was no moisture inside the plastic bag they placed the roses in. SIte advertised $2.99 flat rate shipping on seed only orders with code SHIPSEEDS. I placed my order at 7pm and then discovered I had forgot to input the shipping code and was charged the $5.95 and $1.00 fuel surcharge. Mistake on my part. I emailed customer service at 11:15pm the same night the order was placed requesting order be cancelled. First thing the next morning I tried to call the number for customer service shown in my order confirmation email. Found that the number is just a recording which tells you to reach out to customer service via email (which I did 4 hours after placing the order) or online chat during the summer. The response from the chat was that order was already shipped and nothing they could do. Very dissappointed and won't purchase from them again. Should have checked reviews first as I see they are not very highly rated. I have been happily shopping with Baker Creek / Rare Seeds who always provide free shipping across the USA. read more

I did not enjoy the recent customer service interaction - hence the one missing star - but on the whole they have delivered excellent seeds in a pandemic this year, while probably swamped with orders. I rarely take time to write reviews. That's how much I feel the need to advise others not to order through Park Seeds. I ordered organic, heirloom seeds from 5 different companies this spring, and they are the only one I wouldn't buy from again. There are 2 reasons that are good enough - they are 1. everything is in a little gold envelope with small print, so you have to search and read every tiny packet to find what you're looking for. I much prefer the packages with images that seems standard everywhere else. 2. They were by far the slowest of the companies, they were the only one to get a part of my order wrong, and they did not include a single bonus pack of seeds. Every other place included several, and Baker's (most recommended) sent tons. The thing that got me irritated enough to write, though, were the strawberries. I ordered 2 Whopper bags - which came. There were supposed to be enough strawberry plants to plant 24. There were _maybe_ 10 plants, and even they looked dead. A week later and 3 of them show some signs of green. 3 of 24 I called that day, a week ago, to make sure they even sent me the right thing. I pushed the number to speak to the horticulturalist, but instead got an operator who explained, at length, how overworked their horticulturalist was, and that he might not get back to me for a week or two, but she'd be happy to help with any questions I had. The conversation started and ended when she didn't know the word "rhizome", nor, it seemed, anything else about strawberries. She said they'd get live strawberry plants out to me right away. That was a week ago. After several days of watching for them, I got an email today saying: your order has shipped! Imagine my joy. read more

I ordered 50 strawberry plants from them over 20 days ago, have sent a few emails asking where they are, and only get the cut and pasts thanks for contacting us, we'll get back to you shortly. Shortly is a relative term, if you think in terms of how long man has been on the planet vs how long the planet has been here, that's shortly too. If you aren't going to actually ship things or respond to customers, don't spend a lot of money for nice catalogs and nice internet sites that people go "ooh" and "ahh" , then get it posted up front on Google. Zero stars. I tried hard to like Park Seed. In Spring 2013 I ordered a six package deal of small Gualtheria bushes. Pricey, but they arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I planted them, and by mid-Summer three were dead, two looked poorly, only one thrived. Note that I planted them in the same small area, all received same sun and water and care. I even read and followed the instructions. Poor performing plants. Park Seed's basic response was: We don't care... You ordered in spring, ho hum. Too bad. This rating is one star because there are some people at ParkSeed who seem to be making an effort, and I feel for them. By and large, however our experience with ParkSeed has been awful. After a rep promised on things that Park Seed could not deliver during our initial encounter (telling us an item was in stock when it was not, and that it would ship out overnight for a crucially timed delivery, which it could not), Park Seed proceeded to be increasingly difficult to deal with, evasive, and even incompetent. I've been dealing with polite but seemingly powerless reps for over a week. Now that I'm attempting to cancel our order, I'm getting a run-around again. I've gone straight to the supplier to let them know about the issues we've encountered with Park Seed, including the difficulty and misinformation I am now experiencing with this cancelation. I ordered from Park Seed thinking I would give another company a try. Well that was the biggest mistake I made. I should of stuck with the company i usually order my seeds from. I reached out to park seed yesterday to state that my shipment had been lost due to the tracker order they provided me over 12 days ago. The gentlemen I spoke with on the phone was very rude, he told me to hang on another week to see if they show up and if they don't, they will kindly reship my order. Placed an order for three items (14th). All of which should have shipped together. I received the order in 2 days which was great, but missing one item (which was not backordered or delayed due to zone-shipping). Sent an email that day (16th). Did not hear back until the 22nd and they confirmed the missing item would be shipped within the week. By the 5th (2 weeks later), I had not heard anything. Spent three days on hold on the phone. Called each day and waited 2 hours before hanging up. Tried once in the morning and the late afternoon. On the 7th I was finally able to reach someone in about 30 minutes. She confirmed that the item was both in stock and had been shipping to my zone since my order. She was unable to provide me with an estimate on when the item would ship out, or connect me to someone else who could give me any more information. While the customer service rep was nice, the entire experience has been lackluster and made me wary of ordering through this company when many others have the same products. Side note: the other two items I ordered were seeds which have a poor germination rate. Asked a friend who runs a large YouTube gardening channel, and he's confirmed that this company is one he hears many complaints from. read more

I've been a bit annoyed with the Internet ordering lately. For some reason, items that say "ships now" have not been...well, shipped now. This can be very frustrating when one orders seeds as Christmas presents. **Original February 12, 2007 Review** I have ordered a large number of seeds and plants from Park Seed and they have all been great. I have yet to have a seed fail to sprout, which may be due, in part, to the biodome which I love! I have also had great results with the strawberries in growin' bags. It's fun to be able to grow strawberries on an apartment balcony! I only wish I could drive to South Carolina so I could visit their nursery! Of course...then I'd have to figure out a way to sneak all those plants into California. ;) Yeah...um, I guess it's just easier to have them shipped. After placing three emails, two chat requests and never receiving any response what so ever I tried calling. First call on 4/30 I was told it was shipped on on the 28th and should be receiving. I received my my order for 5 Bicolor Buddleia plants from Park Seed earlier this week. They might have been healthy 3-4" plants in 3-4" pots before they were packed unbagged and unsecured in loose foam peanuts in a box for shipping. It's no surprise there was extensive shipping damage. Several stems were broken off from each plant, and all the remaining leaves and stems were broken, bruised, or partially blackened. Even if these 3-4" plants had arrived undamaged, there is no way they were worth $11.95 each. A local nursery in Macedon,NY has Bicolor Buddleia plants which are 5-10 times the height and fullness for $7.95 -- and they are robust and undamaged. Park Seed offered a free bonus as incentive for this order... It was described as a Tomato Container Choice VFF Hybrid. Does that sound like a plant? It was a packet of 10 seeds. The description is misleading. Or you could say weasel-worded, if you like. If they wanted to be honest, they would have described the bonus something like this: VFF Hybrid Choice Container Tomato Seeds. If a vendor is going to offer anything "free" with an order, why do it in such a way as to make their customers unhappy -- or in my case, even more unhappy, by setting false expectations? read more
