Hotel restaurant at its best. Great service and great food. They had many options on the menu and I picked the salmon with asparagus and broccoli. Delicious. The salmon tasted great and the charred asparagus didn't disappoint. I am staying at the hotel and they are open until 10 so good for a late dinner in a nice environment. Updating my review because I'm back for the third year in a row. I can't speak to their breakfast or dinner, but the lunch was consistent and the service was much faster and friendlier than in past years. We had the caesar salad and chicken caesar salad wraps. Pretty good. read more

This was room service for hotel so no ambiance but service was pretty good albeit a tad slow, which ended up being ok for me. The food was bland, bland, bland.. had a pizza and burger. Burger was charred too much and dry. Pizza was just so blah. The food didn't get me sick and was edible, which is the only reason it gets a couple stars, but not something I would seek out by any means. Looking forward to getting home - traveling for work sucks. Oh and pricing is steep for what you get. If you can, try and find an alternative in downtown and I suggest getting your food before 5. If you just need something for your stomach, are not too picky and not price sensitive then this is probably ok for you. read more

Ordered the chicken tenders and didn't realize it didn't come with fries. Because usually at restaurants it does come with fries and thought that was interesting. I should've asked. Debated if I should've ordered a side of fries but there was so much chicken I definitely would not have had room for fries. The bartender was very attentive as I chose to eat at the bar. I was the only one there at that time. I think it was her manager and some higher up that were telling her on what they wanted rearranged and all this stuff....but I was ready to check out. I didn't want to interrupt so I just waited patiently. Bartender apologized. Even though I was the only one there, I felt like they could've let her let me check out or let her check up on me...instead of keep talking to her and ignorning me, I know they know I was there. I gave this place 3 stars mainly off their breakfast. But gave it also 3 stars because the dinner brought up the breakfast. The dinner her was very good. I had the chicken and sausage pasta! Very nicely grilled and good flavor. I wish it has a little more flavor. Maybe more garlic and offer fresh parmisan with it. Perhaps fresh ground pepper. Daily breakfast buffet-- $22 dollars of soggy eggs, wet sausage patties under cooked, turkey sausage over cooked and hard. Best thing going is mini quiche and the yogurt and fruit parfait! But once again at least $5 over priced. I do stay in hotels often. So i do understand the breakfast buffet end of things. Service is good and the ambiance is very nice. I came here twice this week--once for dinner and once for breakfast. For dinner the other evening, colleagues and I sat at the hotel bar and were able to order from the regular restaurant menu, which was very convenient. I started with the smoked tomato soup, which had these delicious, ooey gooey little bites of grilled cheese sandwich atop it. I followed this up with the 8 oz filet mignon prepared medium. It wasn't quite the texture I had anticipated, which was a bit disappointing, and the potatoes were just OK. They just tasted like boiled potatoes with a little salt and not much else. They have a nice cocktail selection and ample seating inside. We were split between two servers, one of whom was reasonably attentive and the other of whom was fairly gruff in the beginning (he was busy) but warmed up throughout the evening. On the whole, great venue within the hotel. The steak wasn't anything to write home about, but this was preferable to the other options available at the time. read more

This is located inside the Hilton Hotel in downtown Des Moines. I went here on a Friday night, the building is new so it's modern and clean. I don't have much to say about the place itself but it wasn't very busy at all and I'm not sure if many people know about it unless you're a guest at the Hilton... Maybe a signage will help. For being not so busy, it took a while for our waitress to come to ask if we wanted anything else to drink besides water and then finally get our orders in. The menu is small but the food we had was actually good, we started with meatballs and calamari and then our entrees came. I had the Wood Oven Half Chicken that came with farro and swiss chard. Chicken did come out juicy and what I typically judge is how a place cook a steak. My cousin got the Hanger Steak and she ordered medium rare, it did come out medium rare so good on them. I feel the place is fine but nothing really amazing. There are many places in the area that I would suggest over this. Maybe down the road they'll have a bigger menu and I would go back but currently it's a restaurant that seems to be for hotel guests that don't want to leave the hotel. read more

I was pleasantly surprised that I had actually bookmarked this restaurant prior to knowing it was actually located in the hotel I was staying at! So of course, on my first night in Des Moines, I had to eat here. I've got to admit, the food was better than I expected. I ordered the sweet corn agnolotti, which I will also admit I had no idea how to pronounce and had to Google what agnolotti was. Because a girl's got to have her veggies, I also ordered a side of asparagus. Since I've never had agnolotti before I didn't know what to expect. It was so good. It might have been because I didn't eat all day that made it even better. Also you guys. The asparagus. Omg I've made roasted asparagus many many times but what do you guys do with the asparagus here?? It's so much better than what I do. I'm guessing they use better olive oil, salt and pepper and a magical oven to roast that thing. One last thing-it was very quiet on a Friday night which I'm surprised by. But Saturday during the day was quite crowded. So if you haven't been here for dinner I'd say you should try it. read more

New update-----While the first lunch I had here was great but not quite a 5 Star, my last dinner that I had to stay at the hotel for was amazing. Just got some deviled eggs and the filet. It was perfect. Steak was amazing for a hotel, Service was fantastic and fast, and presentation was great. This wasn't bad for a hotel restaurant. Only reason it wasn't a 5 Star was nothing had an over the top to make it amazing and want to come back. Service was good, food was good, presentation was good,price wasn't bad. There are so many really good places to go to in this town I would rather have, but when you need to eat fast and need to eat at the hotel, this is fine. read more

This afternoon I decided to see how the Park Street Kitchen & Bar was, located in the newly opened Hilton in downtown Des Moines was. I was eager to see what they had to offer, especially since I work a block away and feel like I was part of the construction process for the past two or so years. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the beautiful bar and lobby area. Cool lights, a giant bar, art where every your eye wonders and modern tables. They did a great job building this place. The beauty is the in the details and they have a lot of them. The restaurant carries that modern sophistication over with fire places, great lighting and an outdoor area that will be really nice once it's warm enough to enjoy it. I was promptly greeted from the moment I walked in and taken to my table. My waitress was nice and gave some good recommendations. One of which I took her up on. The Porchetta Sandwich with fresh home made chips. The chips were absolutely amazing. Some of the best ones I've had in a while. This savory pork morsel on a stale baguette (unfortunate and an accident) was also delicious. Slow cooked, tender and packed with flavor. I don't even know why I ordered it, I usually don't like pork at all. But I was glad I did, every bite was better than the last. The only downside of the dish was the bread. It was stale and dense. But the chef came out and apologized for it. To me it didn't matter, I ended up just eating the meat with a fork and still enjoyed my dish. read more

Recently dined at Park Street for the second time and it definitely impressed! It is attached to the Hilton hotel downtown but has it's own cozy and elegant environment. The new bar bites menu definitely consists of anything and everything an Iowan would enjoy from the biggest chicharrones (fried pork skin) imaginable to delicious pulled pork waffle fries. I personally don't drink, but their cocktail menu looked awesome, one recipe had bacon in it! They have a variety of pizzas, meat dishes and delicious shareable plates on the menu also that make for a great bite before or after an event at Wells Fargo Arena next door. Victor, the director, even came out to ask how our meal was and so did the chef, which I thought was great service! read more

The food was boring and overpriced. I get that it's in a hotel, but oof, don't sell it like it is a nice restaurant if you're going to serve small standard breakfast sandwiches and omelets for $16. There was nothing that would entice me to return. If I had to stay at this hotel, I'd eat elsewhere or just go to the gas station for snacks. read more

We dined on a slow night (surprising as it was a weekend with lots going on in nearby Des Moines venues). The menu is interesting, if a bit limited, and the prices seemed reasonable. We had two entrees and some wine. Both entrees were underwhelming. The "deconstructed shepherd's pie" (short ribs and root vegetables) came from the kitchen barely warm, as if it had sat for a while. We pointed this out to our server who was good about bringing it back to the kitchen, returning a bit later with a 'remade' plate that was only slightly warmer - still not acceptable but we didn't want to send it back again since the second entree was now getting cold. Though an attractive presentation, the flavor was just okay, saved by a nice sauce. The short ribs were on the dry side, and the vegetables and (mashed) potato bed were bland. The second entree was the lasagna... an unappealingly saucy dish with pasta that was nearly undistinguishable from the thin melted ricotta and sauce. The ragout element was the only bright spot of this bland dish. Our server offered a free desert in light of the disappointing entrees, but we declined. With (much) more attention to detail from the kitchen, this could have been a nice meal, but it fell way below expectations given the other reviews, pedigree of the chef and location within a relatively new (and very attractive) Hilton. read more

Do not discount this place just because it is in a hotel lobby! The food was so spectacular out of this world, I can't say enough great things about it! I went with friends during restaurant week. It was a Monday and we had several other places we wanted to try instead, but they were not open on a Monday. What a wonderful bit of unluckiness! We just happened to go here. I realize the menus during restaurant week do not always reflect the food on the menu, but we also got a mushroom pizza off the regular menu just to try it. It was the best Neapolitan crust I have ever had. Definitely the best Neapolitan crust in town. It was chewy and had a great flavor. The rest of the pizza was really good too, but the crust is the STAR! I won't tease you with the delicious food you can't order any more as it was on a temporary menu. I will just say the food I had made me want to try this place again before a show at the Civic Center or Wells Fargo (if it is not too busy!) The waitress was wonderful. The drinks were imaginative. The only downside was the location. Because it is a restaurant in a hotel lobby the lobby bar is right outside of the restaurant and that night there was a large crowd for a conference. There is no wall separating the restaurant and the bar, just some decor and plants and a change in ceiling height. Even with the crowd we could still talk and hear each other ok at the table, but there was a general din of noise until the group left for the night. read more

We are traveling through town and stopped for a quick bite the atmosphere is great however we paid $90 for a meal that was worth about $30 over priced for the quality you get!! I would 100% recommend taking a walk to another restaurant I if I was a hotel guest! read more

We had reservations here before a show at Hoyt Sherman, which happened to coincide with a large concert at The Well. We were seated right away, but getting drinks and a food order in took an incredibly long time. The night we were there, the menu was extremely limited. We ordered a cheese plate, a pepperoni pizza, and the PSK burger, which came with house chips. The cheese plate, at $20, seemed a bit skimpy. It came with only two small hunks of cheese and two meats. The rest was pickled veggies. My husband liked his pizza and said that the crust was the perfect level of chewiness. The burger was flavorful, but the house chips were just okay. Overall, the food was good but the service was rough. That could have been due to a large concert on a Sunday night. We might try it again, but it won't be a place we rush back to soon. read more

Located in the downtown Hilton Hotel, I thought the Park Kitchen would be a great place for lunch. The menu is fairly limited but the food was very good. Even though it was a little after 1, the service was slow and the restaurant wasn't busy. I think that it caters more to the breakfast and dinner for the hotel guests. read more

We were deeply disappointed after our dinner at Park Street Kitchen. I had my doubts, as hotel restaurants are rarely worthwhile, but made a reservation after reading the largely positive reviews. Who are these people? Has a very limited menu so I assumed they would likely do great at what they do. And while the food was good - it was way overpriced. Dinner for two cost what a great meal at any of Des Moines 5-star restaurants would have been. So that, coupled with very inattentive service (another server had to step in to help, saying our server was 'busy with a large group in the other room'), left is disappointed and I do not recommend PSK. There are many better restaurants in DT Des Moines. read more

We had a reservation for 5:30. Got here way before the crowd did and got our orders in. We are a party of 8. An hour in, they brought us 5 of the entrees and one salad. It's been another 15 minutes and we still don't have the other 3 meals yet. Waitress just came out and said the manager said he didn't know what was going on. Two dishes of the herb chicken that were brought out didn't look the same, one had way more vegetables on it than the other. The fettuccine had chicken on top (requested) that was extremely dry and over cooked. They did eventually comp us on the three dinners that were very late but even when we did get the food it was mediocre at best. For a the ratings on this restaurant , this is a huge disappointment. read more

The bar was technically closed but she went out of her way to get me a Bloody Mary and a delicious breakfast. A group of us stopped at the park street bar located inside the Hilton hotel downtown last week. We were attending a wedding and I have to write a review because we were so impressed with our experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and the drinks were good. The bartender was exceptional! She was fast, knowledgeable, and you could tell that she genuinely cared. There was a small crowd but nobody ever had to wait for a drink. She managed the crowd very well and seemed to have a rapport with every person in there. But the reason for my review is something I noticed that is rare today. A couple of senior citizens were sitting toward the end of the bar. They had several requests and even with the volume the bartender was so patient and attentive. She ended up after some time being able to find a beverage that they could enjoy. I think they had there heart set on a blended drink and the bar want equipped with a blender. She used her imagination and came up with something quite clever to accommodate these folks. I saw her get money out of her tip jar to pay for the drinks as well because she felt bad she couldn't give them what they originally asked for. It's not often you see this sort of kindness and selflessness. I don't know where the Hilton recruits their staff but I wish I did for my own business. Bravo to this kind soul and to the company who employs her! read more

We were excited to eat dinner here since it was close to our conference at the conference center. We arrived at 5 pm (when they opened). The restaurant was only 1/2 full at the most. We received our food at 6 pm. The food was luke warm and disappointing. The waitress was doing the best she could but didn't even ask us if we wanted another drink when our glasses were empty long before the food came. If the Hilton knows there is a conference going on they should be prepared to serve dinner especially to a 1/2 full restaurant. read more

We enjoyed appetizers on NYE. The ricotta toast and crab cakes were beyond delicious. The homemade ricotta with honeycomb was such a delightful surprise.
