Finding a doctor and a dentist in a new city where you don't know anyone - this was probably the…read moreworst thing about my move to Indy. I had a persistent cough and figured after 3 weeks it was time to see a doctor. St. Vincent's is close to my house so I called and asked who was 1) female and 2) had the earliest availability. I received an appointment with Dr. Szewczyk (don't ask me how to pronounce it, I have no idea. I think it's Sedgewick). The experience was great. I wasn't kept waiting long, and I really liked her energy from the minute she walked in the room. Since I was a new patient, she went over my medical history, did a quick checkup, and wrote me a prescription for my cough. Then she asked me "Is there anything else I can help you with?" Now, that's not something I've ever heard from a doctor before!!! She also suggested some ways I could manage some of my issues with minor changes to what I was currently doing, rather than suggesting yet ANOTHER prescription. Very satisfied.

My first appointment with Dr. Steenbergen was a positive experience. I arrived, signed in and…read morewaited no more than about 5 minutes to the actual appointment time. The waiting room is huge, but I think it belies the short waiting time. There have never been more than half a dozen people in the waiting room, some waiting for lab results after a consultation. The staff is pleasant and professional with a couple of exceptions. Dr. Steenbergen was welcoming, polite, professional and thorough. He listened to me and provided his assessment of some treatment options I suggested. Although our discussion was interrupted a couple of times, I felt I had his full time and attention for the duration of the appointment. The physician assistant, Joel Westbury, is also excellent. In fact, I might prefer to see him in the future rather than Dr. Steenbergen. And particularly when there is an urgency for an appointment, I was able to see Westbury much sooner than Steenbergen. Also, there is a phlebotomist on staff which negates the need to go downstairs to the in house lab. The practice appears to be fully computerized. Prescriptions are electronically transmitted to the pharmacy of my choice. After each visit I receive a printed summary of the visit by mail for my records, including any procedures, vitals, and prescriptions.

For context, I'm a medical school professor and very comfortable in a medical setting and know what is and is not acceptable behavior. The PA I saw, Maddie, was personable, very informative, and actually listened... I know that should be what you expect at every doctor's office, but with privatization of insurance that's not always what you get. Heck, she listened and cared more than my students who are REQUIRED to to pass (ha!). She was thorough, listened to all concerned addressed them properly and provided all necessary important information including referrals and follow-ups. She was also incredibly smart and knowledgeable about a lot of topics, and you can tell because she doesn't throw a ton of big words at you to seem smart, it was demonstrated in her ability to describe things at a level that people without medical experience could understand. HIGHLY recommend. The medical assistant, Keniesha, who came in to draw blood and run an EKG was polite, knowledgeable and professional while making me feel at ease during understandably uncomfortable tests. Office staff is friendly, polite, helpful, and great at getting you all set up and going. I was taken back on time for my appointment, no unnecessary waiting (although it's totally understandable when it happens) and a very proficient & excellent overall experience

There was a line formed and the clinic did not open until 8:00 a.m. Allyson was at the front door in the cold, allowing patients to sign up for their clinic visit. Allyson called me by phone, as I waited in my warm car, when it was time for my appointment. You are required to wash your hands before coming into the waiting area; and, of course wear a mask which must cover your mouth AND your nose. Conrad was the associate who administered my Covid-19 test. Conrad explained the procedure (he also took my temperature and pulse oximetry measurements) and performed my nasal Covid-19 test. Conrad was professional, reassuring and kind as was Allyson. The pandemic has been horrible but these two associates made this process easy and stress free. I thank them for their hard work and dedication for risking their lives to assist the public.

Dr. Phillips was amazing in my first visit to her. I arrived early and was brought back to an exam room only a minute after sitting down in the waiting room! The service was so great, I had to finish filling out my initial paperwork at the end of my appointment. Dr. Phillips is extremely nice, very personable, and was a pleasure to speak with. It almost seemed like I had been going to her for years -- but it was my first appointment! The location is Broad Ripple is convenient and parking is hidden so it is not consumed by the craziness around Broad Ripple. The office staff was very helpful and extremely nice, I felt very welcome. I'm glad to know if I need a doctor I can turn to the St. Vincent Broad Ripple clinic and Dr. Phillips!

She also does Gyno visits so she is a one stop shop for us females! She seemed concerned about some bruising I had on my leg. She didnt brush it off, but dug into my family history to see if it could have been something serious. I had some testing done that ended up not being covered by insurance. Her staff worked very hard to get insurance to adjust the bill. In the end, after many many hours of hard work from her staff, and many many faxes later, I was able to get the bill dramatically reduced. I brought them flowers to show my gratitude. Its not every clinic that provides such quality of care! They all went the extra mile and that doesn't go unnoticed!
