But the mill plain store has one employee the cashier Kimberly on numerous occasions has been either extremely rude to other customers or myself. She does not even have the basics down. A wonderful hardware store! They have every bolt you could ever imagine! I needed a special oval headed bolt for some vintage metal rockers. This was one of the only stores that stocked this special bolt. I was thrilled with their selection! The staff was so helpful and friendly. The store was clean and well-stocked. DO NOT go here for paint! I have never experienced such a rude unhelpful man when purchasing paint. He refused to tint my primer for me even though the other paint guy did with pleasure. I told him I was in the middle of a project and needed the same thing I had purchased previously. He unapologetically refused and said I would have to come back the next day to have somebody else do it. I will never shop here again! The paint guy at Home Depot is THE BEST! What I love about Parkrose Hardware the most is their selection of...well...HARDWARE! They ar a lot like an old fashioned hardware store with siles of little bins with tons and tons of different types of faseners and other small stuff the the big stores like Lowes and HD just don't have. I stopped in last week to pick up some fasteners that you can't get at Home Depot or Lowes. I carried in parts that I needed to make sure the wing nuts I was getting were the right ones. I was in a hurry to get in and out and I accidentally left my bolt on the shelf where the wing nuts were. I realized around 7:55p that I didn't have my bolt and I needed it for my application early the next morning. I googled this location and saw that they closed at 8p. I tried calling, but, like most businesses, there is an automated answering machine and you can't get a human to speak with after-hours. So I raced over there hoping that I could speak to the closing crew and that they would graciously let me in for a fe minutes to get my important bolt that I had left. The crew all came out together and were surprised to see me there waiting by the locked entrance door. I spoke with Jeff, the Closing Manager. He accommodated and told me I had to take him back to where I last saw it. Wouldn't you know it??? It was right there, right where I left it. This is the kind of home town service that keeps me shopping at Parkrose Hardware. Thanks guys! You saved my bacon! read more

Such great service! My husband rented a machine from them and was injured during use, he had to go to the hospital, needless to say we could not return it on time . They waved the fees and allowed us to keep it until he was ok to turn it back in - thanks for that Park Rose! These guys are great. Whenever I need help with something tricky, these guys have the knowledge to get you set up for success. Tim worked with me for nearly an hour over a couple of visits to fabricate a re-enforced bar to hold up our microwave in the cabinets. His knowledge was instrumental in getting this successfully completed. You should come here first to get what you need and only go to the big-box stores for things they don't carry. I took a window screen here to have fixed after my daughter's dog tried to escape a second story window that was left open, to no avail. The sign at the repair area said three weeks to fix screens, however there were only two screens there waiting repair so I asked and was told that it should be much quicker so I left mine. After a nearly two weeks I went in to check on it as I hadn't received a call. My screen hadn't been touched so I looked for someone to sell me the screen so I could just do it myself. No employees were interested in helping me out, so I took my screen and left without any fix or purchases. I don't think they would have had it done in three weeks. I won't be back to have anything fixed by Parkrose and probably won't be back at all. If you don't want to fix screens, don't offer the service. read more

When Parkrose Hardware opened in Vancouver they were on top of the game with great service and knowledgeable staff. Unfortunately they've fallen from grace. They are short staffed with associates that don't know products or how to help you. Being g close to my house, the Mill Plain store was a go to when I needed hardware or outdoor equipment. This changed and they have fallen out of favor with me. I would rather drive to Grovers for service and expertise and Home Depot for a less expensive product than deal with Parkrose again. read more

Rented an animal trap and they didn't know how to use it to show me how to use it so I took it home and YouTubed it but still it wouldn't work right. I brought it back a day early and they would not refund my money at all even for the last day. I left disappointed - won't be visiting this store again as they have my 40.00 for something I rented that didn't work. read more

My wife and I have shopped at Parkrose Hardware for some time now I've been in there quite a bit, I'm signed up for the rewards program and I always go in there with my little dog and have never had any problems. Today we were in early this morning which we normally go in in the afternoon and I got a weird feeling from the employees there and then when me and my wife were out in the garden section looking at plant's two other employees came up to us and said "that we've been have been trespassed for a long time and know better than to be in there and we need to leave or they're going to call the cops". So the funny thing is is that we've never been to trespassed their and when I asked to speak to the manager the guy goes I am the manager and we don't need to talk about it. Granted we weren't dressed the best but we've been working this morning and we're just going to the hardware store and the gas station we didn't really feel the need to dress up and we had masks and were completely and totally embarrassing. I don't know what they were thinking my wife didn't even have a purse it's not like we could be stealing things. We even had our little Chihuahua dog in a dress with us. I am just at a loss of the level of idiocy that that store has just shown. read more

I agree! I asked my husband why we waste time going to the other hardware big boxes. We found the Christmas lights we needed here when everyone else had sold out - and they were on sale! We found a weird metric screw to repair our Italian Leather couch that lost a foot in a move. We've found a lovely fireplace screen - reasonably priced and not too trendy so it doesn't go out of style - just "classic." I found the old fashioned mouse traps - the kind you bait yourself and a huge assortment of really workable toilet plungers. The people help you - show you where things are and answer questions. This place is GREAT. Save time - skip the big boxes and go to Parkrose Hardware. Plenty of parking and they refill propane tanks. read more

As a motorcyclist, I am always looking for nuts and bolts, Parkrose has the best selection of nuts and bolts and the most helpful staff of any hardware store. Unlike the Big Box stores, you can buy just 1 bolt if you want, not a whole package. Perkrose has that welcoming Small Town Feel. read more

I ordered a Stihl chainsaw online. Parkrose is s upposed to be a Stihl "ELITE" dealer. When I got to the store, none of the employees seemed to even know that a person could order a saw online. After much shrugging and questioning me, the customer service department sent me to the rental department, where I stood at the counter for ten minutes with ZERO help. Finally I took the initiative to look back where they service equipment and I found another employee who had no idea why I was there (even though I explained that I ordered a saw online and had it being held there) when suddenly the phone rang and it took his attention away in the middle of me RE -explaining that I was there to purchase a saw, well he decided the call was more important than the customer, so I walked. They can keep their saw, I'll never go back. read more

I have used this hardware store for several years. This includes a couple thousand worth of purchases and rentals. The Positives: Good selection of hardware, tools and rental equipment and only a few miles from where I live. The Negatives: very poor employee behavior. I have never had any employee ask if they can help. I always need to walk up to a service desk if I need help. When I do, I'm almost always ignored. Not even an acknowledgement that I'm standing right in front of them. They are just too busy to talk most of the time. They are usually helpful once they offer help. Bottom line: Good hardware store if you know exactly what you are looking for and don't need any assistance. I would consider driving a little further to any other hardware store if you are needing rental equipment or have any questions. read more

Normally dont have issues. Ive noticed it seems to be only based off the same sorts of kind of people that ive tended to bump heads with on occasions but thankfully I just have to come back a different time when a worker who knows what they are doing can help me. Im not sure if they are just lazy and dnt want to do the whole process of doing refunds/and or gift cards, maybe they dont know how or if its because they dont like me and we have a weird tension with each other. Whatever it is. I think workers need to understand its not their business and theres rules they need to go by and policy's. For both the employee and the customer. Thank you to the worker who helped me refund my item that nect day even though the one employee stated they couldnt after 30 days. They need to update the policy if that is true and retrain the employees. I wouldnt have shopped there if there was a chsnce I knew all sales were final. ID go to offer up for that. And much cheaper if so. But somtimes we need to return them regardless of wat its becsuse of. That's it. Thank you read more

I love Parkrose and have had great experiences at the other locations. This was my first and last time at this location. Last weekend I got 2 different paint samples, didn't look right so stopped at this location for a color that may be closer to what I wanted. Bad choice!! The employee who works the paint counter obviously didn't want to be there and made me feel the same way. He was argumentative, unhelpful and snappy with his co-worker. I arrived an hour before closing Friday night to rent a chainsaw. Michael was working on repairs next to the rental desk. He got the equipment, gas and saw cover...pleasant exchange. Time to saw wood SAT am and it won't start. Long story...we got a replacement ....it worked great...got my woodART cut. Upon returning the rental I spotted Michael at the checkout. He told me it was his mistake for not powering up the saw the night before, he owned his mistake and his manager agreed to remove all charges from my invoice. I'm convinced Parkrose Hardware is one of few small businesses in the country that will continue for generations to come because THEY PUT THE CUSTOMER FIRST! An alternate to your typical Big Box stores. It your neighborhood hardware store, so you may pay a little more for some items, but you get what you pay for. If you are looking for knowledgeable help and / or more specific items, this is the place to go. I went looking for high grade bolts. Neither Lowes nor Home Depot carried them. Parkrose has a MASSIVE faster section of the store. I spent virtually no time looking for what I needed, as they caught me walking in, asked what I needed help finding, and walked me right to it. read more

Not only not impressive but lost a customer today. Been there a few times, sometimes I get service right away and other times not so much, I have to search for help and wait. Today went to return something that wasn't meeting my need at all - also was planning on getting some paint supplies. Based on how poorly I was treated, I completed the return process and left. Drove to a box store and gave them my money. I know how I will be treated in a box store so no sense driving to this store and receive the same poor treatment.
