If your a metro detroiter your firmly familiar with coney islands. Quick fast diner-esque style food, no bells or whistles. Parkside delivered much of that..... First, they get MAJOR props for not serving canned corned beef hash. I appreciate the time put into making this fresh. Only drawback is I have a container full of grease from this being made freshly on the flat top grill. A piece of parchment paper in the container before the food goes in would help to soak up some of this.. I also order wing dings.. nothing wrong with them .. however how do you serve wings in this city with out ranch? Or at least notating it does not come with so we can order it. Never gotten wings here with no ranch... ugh (insert eye roll) This isn't he closest coney to my home and only ventured out to show local businesses some support during this covid19 situation. Bad experience ALL THREE times! First time, I placed an order and the waiter was rude then placed my order under the wrong name, a guy name at that, which wasn't even close to the name I gave her. Second time, the car in front of me waited over 5 minutes to order and had to say hello to even order, they then waited at the window for over 10 minutes then took off, I experienced the same thing and right as I was about to take off she acknowledged I was at the window. She didn't even give me my all of my change. This is the worst place to get food. First it's nasty, they( woke) doesn't wear gloves when preparing your food me. I went there last night 10/7/21 and ordered a Chef Salad. While the food is very good, I'm not sure why these people think it's appropriate to hold on to people's credit/ debit cards until they give you your food. As a systems administrator, I am well aware that these practices are not safe at all and offer no protective measures for customers. Aside from an IT background, I'm sure just about everyone is uncomfortable with them holding on to their credit cards for over (5) minutes. This has happened the last two times I have stopped by the establishment. The seating area is small, but this place, more than any other coney i've been to, has enormous store front windows on three side of the building. Mediocre at it's best. I've been here several times over the past few years and have never been 100 percent satisfied. I've argued over everything from incorrect orders to incorrect change. I'm giving them the 1 star cause they wont let me give none but they are known for always having sliced cake of almost every flavor. Poor customer service at a all time high unless your leaving a tip. Really? A tip for putting the wrong order in a bag with incorrect change. A well deserved 5 star rating! We recently discovered this place during the five day power outage here in Detroit. From the burgers to the grilled chicken salad, they have not disappointed. While I am not a fan of the seasoning they put on the fries and I do wish they would cook those fries a little longer, you will nevertheless enjoy the food here.
