All of their donuts either use a vanilla or chocolate base and then are either topped with yummy toppings/icing or stuffed with different fillings. The donuts were crisp on the outside soft on the inside and had a substantial chew to them which made it feel more luxurious than your typical fried, hole in the middle donuts. Also tried their watermelon refresher which you can pay an upcharge to be blended which was phenomenal, the watermelon flavor was so yummy it reminded me of a more natural jolly rancher and it really helped perk me up for my afternoon. The service workers were all very kind and walked us through our options when we shared it was our first time there. They were patient, kind and greeted everyone. Not only was the service phenomenal, the place was so enjoyable to eat in. Large windows allow a considerable amount of natural light in and they have a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating available. The doughnuts look unusual, they do not have holes. These layered beauties are topped with various sweet glaze. I tried their French Toast doughnut, their display identifying it was their most popular. I can see why, the maple flavor of the glaze would make it one of my favorites too. The doughnut is fried so that the outside is a little crusty while the inside is soft and doughy. Not exactly like an apple fritter, some croissant influence. My doughnut was denser than a yeast donut, like you are eating something more substantial. Parlor offers about 20 different toppings. I also tried their breakfast sandwich, also made with the same layered doughnut but not glazed, a savory sandwich of substance. They offer a bacon, eggs, and cheese sandwich but were out of bacon, so they made it with a sausage patty. That worked fine. Thrilled to see a Parlor Doughnuts while visiting Venice,FL. Been wanting to check it out since I heard they opened in Clearwater Beach. Apparently this was the location I was meant to try. Walking in I loved the black and white checkered decor. I came later in the day around 3, and there was still a good amount of doughnut options. With the help of the girl working at the time, I was in between raspberry filled and coconut filled and she recommended coconut which was excellent. The raspberry filled was also powder topped which I knew would be messy. This doughnut is like a croissant and doughnut, light and generously filled with coconut cream. My dogs name is Mocha Coconut so of course I had to pick it in honor of him. He was also happy to see dog doughnuts on the menu, but he chose to hold off because he said he's on a special diet of chicken at this time. It was a fun unexpected visit! read more

First time trying Parlor Doughnuts while visiting Venice. Apparently it's a franchise with locations all around the States but particularly a new location opening up in Ft Lauderdale soon and after trying them I can honestly say I CAN'T WAIT! They call their doughnuts "Layered" which I'm not 100% sure what that means but if you've ever had a Cronut (croissant/doughnut hybrid) then that's the best way I can describe them. The doughnuts are light and airy. Buttery and somewhat flaky but still firm enough to hold any cream or glaze. We tried a bunch of different varieties and all...ALL...where amazing. But our top 3 were the Bourbon Caramel; the glaze was perfect. Not too sweet and not too much bourbon. It was just the right balance. Next up was a 3 way tie between the Maple Bacon, Maple Pecan and the Honey Glaze. All 3 were amazing. The Honey Glaze was glazed it to order right in front of me. I knew at that moment it was gonna be amazing. My only suggestion would be abit more bacon on the Maple Bacon. And the top spot was one that the staff kept recommending, the Strawberry Shortcake. The soft and airy texture of the doughnut combined with the fresh creme and fresh strawberries was just insanely delicious. I could have devoured a half dozen of those in one sitting and been ok with the sugar coma to follow. I kept thinking about how to compare them to other doughnut places but I really couldn't. The foundation of why they were amazing was that "layered" aspect. And I don't know any doughnut shop that does that. Stopped in on a Saturday morning. There was no line at all! We did see people walking out with big boxes of a dozen donuts, though, and we knew it was going to be good. The cases are the first thing you see when you walk in. They were packed with donuts of a ton of varieties. It was difficult for our party of 4 to choose just one each. And, believe me, we WISHED we got a dozen, after we got home. I had the peanut butter cup and it was so light and airy. Everyone appreciated the "layered" texture. My best friends mom said she loved how the donut wasn't heavy at all. There is some inside seating and the light fixtures are bright and compliment the space!
