Awesome little mom and Pop donut shop, exactly what you wanted to be exactly what it's supposed to be great raised donuts. I ended up getting the sugar twist and a large cinnamon roll but the character in the place is fantastic. It looks like they have some breakfasts. I saw what looked to be regulars sitting in there enjoying their coffee. It looks like a very comfortable glove you walk in and grab some donuts and you smile and you leave. I'm a sucker for a good donut. This is classic old school donut shop. Trays of fresh donuts of several varieties and still a lot for almost noon on Sunday. Got an angel filled and jelly filled. Both were delicious and soft. Staff was friendly and moved fast to accommodate the line. They also served sandwiches and there were several people eating in house. Good stop. read more

We were greeted with a big smile by one of the ladies that worked there--very friendly. The kids got an assortment of donuts that were devoured within minutes of opening. My wife and I both got breakfast sandwiches that were delicious. My wife got a coffee with cream and sugar--and she has since said that it was made "perfectly." We got ours to-go, but the inside is small and feels like an old school diner. Cool little local place! read more

While I cannot say how the service is these days, I just had to comment on the history of this place. I remember so fondly of my dad taking me here in the 70's as a treat to get the best donuts I had ever tasted. They created, at the time, the yeast dobuts that can only be compared to Krispy Kremes. I found these to have a much better icing and always were warm and perfect. Turner Donut Shop is located just a few blocks from LECOM Park, where the Pittsburgh Pirates play their spring training games. My son and I arrived way too early for a baseball game and found ourselves walking down 9th Avenue until we stumbled upon Turner Donut Shop. When we walked in, we were shocked to see a packed restaurant/donut shop since the streets were so empty. MENU: Turner has more than just donuts. They have a full sit down restaurant with breakfast sandwiches, bagels, coffee, and more. And the prices are SO reasonable, cheap even. DONUTS: The donuts were good, not the best I've ever had, but better than average. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick and friendly service for our donuts to go. Great donuts This is not an impressive looking place, either inside or out, and parking was full. Yet I knew what was waiting inside, some delicious donuts. I was getting a box for later sharing and while I was there, a little something for myself. There was a line that moved along well, the order takers friendly and efficient. As I approached the front I spotted a maple frosting topped roll and knew that was what I wanted, along with those dozen doughnuts. My order was quickly filled. I moved to the dining area to enjoy my maple topped roll before heading out. They have a lunch counter and some tables along a wall and I was probably lucky there were several seating choices. My roll was very fresh, very sweet, and went very well with my coffee. The roll had raisins and was soft like a fresh donut. I read an article that said they have been in business since 1960. The place is in need of a facelift, or rebuild, but I hope the donut recipes never change. read more

The donuts were not that good, too yeasty. Also, it was our first time visiting this establishment and we encountered a very weird interaction with the lady at the front pretty much immediately upon entering. she asked us if we were going to eat there or take our order to go. I said we would eat there and she just stared into space and didn't reply to me at all when I answered the question. So I answered again just saying "yeah, I think we will eat here." She seemed very agitated as she replied "OK well what do you want? I'm waiting for you." It was very weird and uncomfortable. We had planned on ordering coffee and staying a while but once the vibe went weird, we decided just to eat a donut real quick in a booth and skedaddle. Kind of funny that they have a sign hanging up with a tongue-in-cheek comment about irritable customers not being welcome. I lived in Bradenton since 2013 could never find a good place like where I grew up ( St. Petersburg) . The donuts are so good , would definitely be back. Small corner donut shop nothing fancy. There's a cafe with counter service and a few booths that seem to be used by daily regulars for breakfast, lunch and coffee. Pricing is fair and comparable to Dunkin' Donuts, but that's where comparison ends. These are homemade delicious old school donuts, nothing like the grocery store version. All of my B-town friends and acquaintances told me that this is the best donut shop in the area. So, you know me, I just had to check it out for myself. These donuts are potato raised, and appear to be made from a mix, just like Gold Star Donut. However, Gold Star Donuts are fresher tasting at any time of day compared to what I had at Turner. Even at 10:00am, expect a wait, sometimes with a line out the door. Parking is often scarce because of the downtown Bradenton location and small lot. The inside was decorated with Chinese New Year decorations last time I was here and the owners were speaking both Spanish and Tagalog, which is awesome. There is indoor seating with a waitress, but there is usually not an empty table. There are cake and raised donuts to choose from, but the raised are not yeasty or fluffy- kind of flat. Nothing really spectacular or different and I found the taste and quality to be lacking. The dryness of the donut was also a major turn-off, as well as the taste of the oil. I was all excited because one of the cake donuts was labeled "Honeydew," which made me think of the delicious green melon that I love so much. After tasting, I realized that it was just a plain ol' cake donut. Lame... How hard would it be to take honeydew and put in the blender, then mix with powdered sugar to make a glaze, then dunk a cake donut in it?
