Yum!! We stopped into Venice Ave Creamery for a quick treat before hitting the road back home. They were extremely busy the line was out the door but moving quickly. While we waited outside there was gentleman playing music and singing praise to the Lord. Once we got inside you can see all the flavors of the board which helps a lot because we were helped almost immediately after walking in the door. The girl who helped us asked what kind of flavors were we looking for and she worked quickly to get us our treats. My kids ended up getting the chocolate peanut butter eggs and a scoop of cookie dough with caramel. It was a little pricey I think for both the kids ice cream was $17. Both of their ice cream flavors were spot on and tasted of good quality. Very fresh and the texture was very creamy and smooth. Overall it was delicious and we enjoyed our experience. read more

PLACE WAS PACKED! Death of summer at 100+ degrees in June! They had everything. Coffee, espresso, non-dairy, vegan ice cream, fat free and no sugar everything. Service was excellent. Man, ice cream in Venice does not disappoint. On a Sunday night at 9pm, our party of 5 stopped for a sweet treat following an Italian feast a block away. Which meant we didn't walk far, because the line for Venice avenue creamery was out the door and down the block! The local creamery boasted over 30 flavors as well as no sugar, non dairy, and gluten free options, at about $6 for a single scoop, which could actually be a split (they actually give you two scoops). I had the banana pudding, which was incredibly nostalgic, and the raspberry chocolate chip. The ice cream is rich and creamy, but not heavy in the tummy at all. A quick search on Yelp to see this is one of the highest rated ice cream parlors in town solidified this as our place to indulge in a sweet treat. They have plenty of ice cream choices and even have some special seasonal varieties which seem creative (space unicorn had me particularly intrigued). We went with single scoops of the toasted coconut in a waffle cone and the pistachio in a cup. Both were creamy and solid of above average quality. The toasted coconut had great coconut flakes embedded in sweet cream while the pistachio had actual pistachios in the ice cream. While prices are a bit on the higher side, the portions are generous. I wish they'd had a smaller half scoop portion size as a single scoop was a bit much and not good for anybody trying to do portion control or keep calorie intake down. Service was friendly as the lovely girl working the counter allowed us to sample a few flavors before making our final choices. There was definitely a hint of ginger present but would have liked a little more. It was inconsistent throughout eating the cup. There were pieces of ginger snap cookies I believe that was the highlight. Other than that, it was decent at best. I also tried the butter pecan flavor. Again, it was a little inconsistent as it did not give off a 'buttery' flavor. There were plenty of pecan pieces, but it just lacked flavor as it was a little plain.
