We previously had lunch at Parlour and had an enjoyable time. Food was good as was the service. Today we returned for another lunch hoping for another enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, this visit the only positive was the food. It was as good as our first visit. This time, service was slow and not near as attentive as our previous visit. I ordered a beer and it was out. I asked for a "taste" of an alternate beer. Our server disappeared for quite sometime. When he finally came back, he had forgotten my beer. We then ordered and it took forever for our food to arrive. Once our food arrived everything started to smooth out. We were about half way through our meal and they opened a whole wall of overhead doors. It's 11:45 in the morning, temperature in the upper 60's and wind blowing at about 20 mph straight in the doors. ONE table asked to open the doors totally disregarding the numerous other patrons. Keep in mind the patio was open, these customers could have eaten on the patio. The wind was extremely chilly and our napkins were blowing off the table. I mentioned to our server we didn't want the doors open and we were uncomfortable. He just grinned and said "It is a little cold" and kept walking on by. About 15 minutes later he came back to our table to see if we needed anything. I once again protested the door being opened made us quite uncomfortable. This time he spoke to someone and they closed the door on our end. By this time we were about to leave. One person in our party said had they opened the door before we got our food she would have gotten up and left. We stopped in for a late lunch yesterday and had a great experience! We were able to park in the parking lot next to the building. We sat and the bar and were quickly greeted by the bartender. We ordered the peppercorn ranch salad (highly recommend) and smoked wings to start. Then we ordered a 10" The Dr pizza on thin crust (another favorite of ours). We ordered the bruschetta and then had the special for pizza week, the pepperoni with hot honey, also the works and a caprese pizza with olives and pesto. All the food was very good. Private event fundraiser upstairs on June 26th for 100 people. . Sitting here right now with the thermostat at 79°. It's summer. They refuse to turn the A/C down. It's miserable. One staff person for a 100 person event. I can live with short staffing, but these cheapskates and their thermostat are unbearable. I'll be surprised if they can afford to sign a lease extension when it comes up. If they're cutting corners here, can they truly afford to stay open? I used to be a Parlour hater for a while. I think the first three times I had it I ordered the wrong thing and I did not enjoy it. Within the last year I have given Parlour another shot and I love it. It's one of my go-to pizza locations now. This was my first time being at the New Albany location. I prefer the Jeffersonville location because it seems less like a tv sports bar atmosphere. New Albany's location was still pleasant though. The pizzas were the same. Thursday night is music bingo, every week. I also go to the music bingo in Jeff but it was a way better experience. There is this girl brownish hair always in a ponytail, very bubbly attitude and voice, probably around 40, and she has no name tag. She works every Thursday in the music bingo "area". She has messed up our food many times. Once we just left because she had to remake our food 4 times due to her mistake, first a hair, then she brought it to the wrong table, then she dropped it, then she forgot to ring it in. She has came back and asked for our orders again many times. She is always sounding bubbly when she is practically pushing people out the door with her "accidents". Had an inkling to check out Parlour in New Albany since we enjoy Jeffersonville so much. It was nice to have some outside seating, especially in summer. Entered and looked around, very spacious dining room with an attached bar on the other side. Went over to bar to check on seating; talked to the bartender and he summoned the waitress. While waiting for her I checked on the beverage list. Definitely a difference then Jeff's location, it was a tad disappointing, but still not bad. Tasted 2 samples, 1 a IPA; too hoppy for me and a fruity beer; just not too tasty. Waitress seated us outside and we checked out beverage list; ordered a Strawberry Magic by Ciderboys and Cold Ass Beer by Against the Grain. Both were nice and tasty. Ordered my go to peppercorn salad and my wife's go to Hawaiian pizza. The salad was very tasty, didn't disappoint on taste, but the size (ordered a large) was like a small at Jeffersonville. The Hawaiian pizza which I typically not too much a fan of tasted awesome. I was surprised by the taste. The only difference was typically regular crust but this was thin crust. So all in all it was a nice visit and good food. We definitely stop back; but our go to place is Jeffersonville. I like the extended beer list; ambiance of the location and always hopping. read more

After a visit to my daughter's venue for her upcoming wedding we decided on Parlour in New Albany. Normally a Tuesday evening would be easy to get a parking spot in their lot but it was full. Little did we know it was trivia night in the adjacent room. Fortunately there was ample street parking less than a block away. Once there we were quickly seated and our drink orders were taken. We supported a local non profit tonight & attended an event on the second floor. It was UNBEARABLY hot (everyone in attendance was uncomfortable), there was one bartender for at least 100 people & took people "way too long" to get food that was ordered. Then at the end of the event, a 20% fee was added to our bill.... When we questioned it (because we had already tipped over 20% in cash, because there was NOTHING posted about the already signed contact between the client and The Parlor) we were told by the bartender and a manager that "The booking client signed a contract approving it".... We (as the people paying) never signed that contact but were assumed to pay the price for it. The main issue was the manager did nothing to make us, the client happy or make sure we came back. Spring. I like 99.9 percent of it. The colors, warm weather, being able to break out of the winter greyness of the Ohio Valley. That small percent of Spring I care not for - Maple tree whirlybird seeds. They are natural aerodynamic masterpieces, that is, until they accumulate in your house gutters. Whats that have to do with pizza? After an afternoon up and down ladders cleaning out whirlybird muck, pizza and beer sounded outstanding. Plan A - drive across the bridge to Parlour in Jeffersonville. Sit outside in the beer garden, enjoy the sun and breeze and partake in good pizza and a couple barley pops. The Jeffersonville Parlour location there at the terminus of the Ohio River Big 4 walking bridge has been our usual spot for many years. We arrive and see it looks busy. Attempt to park, not a spot to be had. We circle the block and drive by to get a better look. Ain't a seat open anywhere. The addition of the Thats My Dog and Union Restaurant and Gameyard has made a busy spot, busier. Its good for Jeffersonville. The area has bloomed with new places to live, eat and drink. Not good for our outdoor dining intentions today. Plan B - Head to New Albany for the new Parlour there. Located across the street from the furniture corner of State and Main, home of Schmitt furniture, we drive through the parking lot, which was full , but then parallel parked across the street. Great. Parlour NA has that retro industrial look inside. Old wood floors, brick walls, high ceilings, steel beams. Much bigger feel inside than what you see on the street. We asked to be seated on the partially open side and our cheerful host obliged that request. We still adhere to best advice on the COVID front, even though we have had our shots. More air is a better thing. High top tables are adequately spaced on the bar-side. A big rectangular bar is toward the open front door street side. A small stage and sound system in the corner for one or two person acts. Great feel about the place and every person we encountered friendly and helpful. A nice breeze wafts through. Parlour has expanded their menu. It used to be very simple, but lots of new choices have been added; appetizers, calzones and sandwiches. We were big fans of the garlic knots at the Jeff location, but cheese sticks have been added now. We did that for the appetizer. I mean, if you have great pizza dough why not just do a pizza crust with cheese and a side or sauce to dip? Cheese sticks hit our table within 5 minutes of ordering. Lots of cheese and their great pizza sauce to dip with. I also ordered the Peppercorn Ranch salad, which arrived with the cheese sticks. I almost went with a different one, but the dressing on this salad takes front stage. You don't get a lot, but you don't need a lot. It works. I do like the croutons, small cubes, which was a nice change. Yea, they are a mass produced lot, but it was different. Cold greens and a sizable plate portion adorned with tomatoes and some parmesean cheese on top. A great salad. A calzone lover among us ordered a sausage model, no ricotta. We went with a 13 inch sausage pizza. I paired that with a Bells Two Hearted Ale. The calzone was a sight to behold. The dough done just right, loaded with cheese and sausage. Our pizza was as good as ever, lots of cheese, dotted with a good amount of sausage for the member of the group that doesn't like a lot. The Two Hearted Ale was a great accompaniment. I am going to remember that one. Our service was excellent and attentive. Not a lot of people in house this night, but we really like this location and maybe our go-to spot now, although several Louisville locations are or will be at our disposal. One thing is for sure, getting out and about in our spring weather and hopefully the rear-view mirror view of a pandemic is nice.
