This is cow country ....I needed a steak....I tried the cowboy BBQ spot up the street but they don't have steak on their menu before pm I guess. (Silly). I had the ribeye ....with a couple of extras ....I kid you not when I tell you the BEST steak I've had in the state of FL. (I've been here 7 weeks) (travelling from California). These guys know how to cook a steak!!! So let me start with the positive. The prices are reasonable. On Monday night you can get 3 dollar margaritas which are ok. Now the food, it taste like everything comes from a can. I had a mahi taco and the fish tasted freezer burnt, I couldn't eat it. The salsa is nasty. Beans are no fresh, the rice was cool. Not fresh ingredients to say the least. Might be a nice local sports bar to grab a drink, but I would not go for the food. I am not usually a chain type person but in this area of Florida that is what I would stick to. read more

Tuna in 2 of the dinners was mediocre. The mahi dinner needed to be seasoned and was overpriced for what you get. The chicken wings were okay (nothing special, could get them anywhere). Oh my gosh, where to begin? Drawn in by the fun and cute exterior but will come back for the fantastic food and service! Started with Rum Runners -- a taste of the tropics! I ordered the chicken tacos and they were gourmet. My husband ordered the coconut chicken tenders, which were juicy and delicious. Hush puppies were great too. My chicken was dry and literally cooked to death. The beans were SO bland. The waitress even could see my chicken wasn't good but she didn't come back to the table in time for me to reorder. The manager said she knew the beans were bland. I didn't eat the chicken. Instead of taking it off the bill the manager gave me a whopping $1.70 discount. What a joke. How cheap do you have to be to do that? $7 for a small beer. Omg. We spent $50 and I left hungry. I wouldn't eat here again if it was the last place on earth with food. Waiter wasn't very good. Seated us and asked what we wanted to drink. Before we received our drinks he seated another couple. He immediately informed them it was $3.00 margarita night...that would have been nice to know, he didn't tell us anything. He didn't ask if we wanted an appetizer. When my order came out wrong, he blamed the kitchen staff, all he had to do was look before he brought it out, it was real obvious the wrong kind of potatoes were on the plate. They asked how we wanted out meat cooked and then cooked it well done. What's the point of asking? Other than overcooked meat ,and the lousy waiter, the rest of the food was OK. We met our daughter and her family of five here since we live on the west coast and they live on the east coast. We were all pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Okay just skip the sushi here. They haven't improved that at all. However, I have eaten different things here fish tacos, salmon, fish sandwiches and they have all been pretty good. I go here for the ordinary menu. I once got a watered down pina colada here too for some kind of special they had going on. Monday night margaritas lured us in to this pub. Seated at the bar we split a couple of fish taco orders. I had the ahi tuna and Nicole had the Mahi Mahi Tacos ordered blackened. In addition I ordered a couple of Margaritas, which were $3 each. Had to ask the bar tend not to add sugar to the mix on my second and also asked to upgrade to Patron which was no extra charge. My husband and I stopped in for lunch. Got seated immediately service is not that great watered-down sweet tea. The bar is booming. This was my second visit to the Parrot restaurant and very happy to report it was better than the first time which was outstanding! This restaurant isn't noted for sushi but it should be. I eaten sushi in Japan, Korea, China and multiple locations in the US. The Parrot restaurant stacks up with the best of any sushi restaurants I've eaten in. read more

Basic, bland and boring. We all tried the fish tacos- blackened Mahi- Mahi and shrimp. Mostly cabbage slaw and some kind of thick sauce. Ended picking the small strips of fish off and making do with that for dinner. Comes with a very tasteless white rice covered in black beans. read more

This is a fantastic place to eat. They had a new menu than what they had in April. The place was crowded yet we were still served in a very timely manner. We are not locals, but normally like to eat with the locals since they already know where the good food is. They did not disappoint! My husband said it was the best hush puppies he had ever eaten. They were the side item for fried catfish he had which was also great. He is very picky & even loved the slaw. I had nachos & they were great, but I especially loved the coffee! We've been here before when in town and never had any issues. Came back to eat a few nights ago and there was a snotty sign on the door that apologized for being "understaffed " but that we lowly customers should be grateful for the staff that did bother to show up for work! Was told it was a 20 minute wait. After 30 no one called us so I inquired at the hostess stand and they had no idea if or when we'd be seated. We've just moved here and we're making an effort to try the local places. Our hope is that we'll find some great local spots and make them our go-to spots. Parrot Island Grill seems to be a popular place and the vibe seems cool. We arrived and were immediately seated...good start. Server came and got drink orders...we think we are rolling. And then we wait. And wait. This is when I realize our server is also the bartender. We order. And then we wait. And wait. Our appetizer and mains came at the same time. Was the app just sitting there the whole time? Who knows, our server never went to the kitchen and our food was brought by other staff. This place seems to have A LOT of staff so we were surprised that things were taking so long. We got the conch fritters. The bed of greens was one leaf and the fritter itself was VERY brown (almost black). Imagine our surprise when it was almost raw on the inside and tasted like nothing. He got the special...blackened ribeye pasta....mediocre at best. He compared it to TGIFridays or Applebee's. I had the lobster sandwich...AMAZING...and the reason this place is getting 3 stars. If you seek a place to smoke and drink while also eating a meal, Parrot Island Grill is the only place to go. If, however, you go for the food, you will most probably be disappointed. Drinking booze makes the quality of the food irrelevant anyway, and I suppose the owners are counting on that fact to make this newest restaurant and bar successful, at least on Fridays and Saturdays. Snowbirds arriving for the winter will probably help out too. My friend and I, who live in Okeechobee, gave the place a few weeks to get its feet on the ground and then we went on the weekend to check out the food. We each ordered the crab cake, which from the description led us to believe we'd be served large, juicy hunks of crab meat. This dish was presumably an appetizer. About twenty minutes later our dishes arrived. There were no large chunks of juicy crab meat. Instead we were served crab patties made with shredded crab. The poor things were accompanied by decorative green leaves a bit worse for wear. Apparently a heat lamp wilted them. The presentation left us underwhelmed. To be fair, we should probably revisit this place, but we've avoided doing so. First impressions are lasting. read more

Fresh, fresh fish & good coleslaw. My husband loves the green beans - nice garlic & bacon flavor.
