Probably the first time I've ever wanted to give someone 6 stars. Called about converting some 3/4 inch video tapes that were 30+ years old. I called several places. Most were more expensive, and honeslty, didn't seem that interested in the job. Probably because of how old they were. Pattor Video was the first to actually have a conversation with me. He was very honest about what the condition of the tapes might be and if they were still playable, but explained he had several machines so he would try each one before he gave up. I had 25 tapes, and he got them all to play! He told me a week, which I was fine with. I mean, we've waited 30+ years, what's a couple weeks? Well, they were done the next day! At Parrot Video, you will find a hands-on owner who delivers nothing but the best at a reasonable cost. I needed to convert old mini and regular VHS to DVD and MP4. I called around to a few places, and found Mike to be both pleasant and offering the lowest cost to do both at the same time. I dropped off a total of 14 tapes and Mike created 5 DVDs and labeled each with the contents. I received the call less than 24 hours later that my job was done. Dropped off 4 VHS I found cleaning out a closet. I had no idea what was on them. Called around and Mike had the best price. Dropped them off on the way to work and indicated that I did not want them transferred to DVD if it turned out that they were just TV shows tapped over and over again (rather than home videos). Mike called an hour later to report that it was all TV shows, there would be no charge, and he would be happy to throw them away for me. Mike is a super nice guy and talkative :-). He never rushes you or makes you feel anything, but welcomed. I went with him even though he is an hour drive one way from me bec his reviews compared to the reviews of companies in Long Beach. I also chose Mike bec he said his dvd pricing is $19 while others are charging $30 and have bad reviews. I had him transfer 29 vhs and vhs-c tapes to dvd and a hard drive. He gave me back up dvd on all and cases to store them in. I also had him stack DVD's (continuing the DVD's until no more room) so that was extra a little. I'll enclose the bill so you can see. Anyway, my tapes were starting to have black out spots and I didn't want to lose any of the videos bec the precious memories of my dead sister, gpa, father in law, and videos of my kids are priceless. I have left 30 more vhs-c tapes with Mike and when I return to get them, I will be dropping off reels from my mother in laws storage to transfer-cannot wait to see what surprises are on those :-) read more

Anyways, I had a groupon to convert the tapes and wanted to convert the old tapes in time before christmas so the whole family could view it together. The thing is, I didn't get the tapes to him until like 2 days beforehand! So the demand on him was very high, but he met my request and did an express service in amazing time! I just completed two major projects with Mike - I had a bunch of mini tapes from a camera that no longer worked - I had no idea what was on the tapes or if they were possibly empty- I also had SIM cards and, again, had no idea as to content. He was kind enough to sit with me and pull up the Sim cards quickly to see what was on them and show me that some of them had already been transferred. He also offered to check all the tapes I thought may be empty at no charge ..... turns out there were small amts on each tape and he was able to condense onto one DVD and note which ones were empty. He also recovered an audio recording from a mini cassette tape from 1976 that was very special to me. I just found him to be very honest and it was refreshing. Used Groupon coupon to have 5 video tapes transferred to digital DVD. The quality varies from DVD to DVD likely caused by the various different models of video tape players used. For instance, some DVD's have chapters, others don't. Some can be played all the way through others get stuck and won't play beyond a certain point. Even the ones that do play frequently have lines of distortion at the bottom. None of them boot up when inserted to DVD player or computer but require a tedious task of clicking through DVD player then trying various chapter links before one begins playing. None will copy to my PC for my editing in Adobe Premiere because the program finds them copy protected. Suggest going to Costco for better quality control. read more

This place is great. Mike turned 20,000 still photos I had from a motion sensitive camera into a time lapse video. The photos were from a fixed location on a construction project and he was able to make the pictures from 6 months of construction onto a 3 minute time lapse.
