THEY WENT ABOVE & BEYOND! I cannot rave more about this place! Went there after looking everywhere for Thomas the Train ..EVERYWHERE! Aliah went to the back and physically searched for these items that are no longer on the shelf after looking in other parts of the store too and found a bunch of stuff. This place is horrible. I came in right when they opened, and they couldn't even be bothered to say hi when a few of us walked in. One woman entering even said good morning and tried to communicate with them and they just ignored her. The store is a mess with boxes stacked up needing to be unpacked. One employee didn't even bother to have a mask on her person when there is currently a mask mandate. I went in for one item that says they have 65 in stock, and they told me they don't have those and the online inventory is so messed up. read more

I stopped in on a Saturday morning, right when the doors opened to do a return. There were a lot of people working but I had to wait a bit for someone to do my return. The person at the front said that they couldn't return it because they didn't carry the product. In my mind, party stories typically get outranked by your basic grocery stores (Target and even Walmart). If I'm picking up supplies for a party, I usually head to Target or even Micheal's before having a party store even cross my mind. That's why when Lisa W. mentioned that Party City stocks plastic wine glasses (which seemingly no other store does), I wasn't entirely shocked that I hadn't thought of them! Party City is located in New Hope Commons off 15-501 and has a huge selection of, you guessed it, party items! Everything from paper plates, napkins and cups in every color variety imaginable, paper wristbands, balloons and special holiday supplies (currently Super Bowl--although they have sold out of almost everything football related since Wednesday). If you want to experience POOR customer service, this is the place to be. Plcd an online order, which the online form is so non-user friendly, that you just want to scream out loud. Called the store to make sure the online order gaps could be filled out and talked thru. All I'm saying is that ppl are stark raving crazy acting and clueless these days. Well it's the closest party store to me, so I find myself going all the time -- with the event planning aspect of my job, you just never know when you're going to need a last-minute helium tank, giant cardboard cut-out of a sheep, or hot-pink wig. That's where the trouble lies... You can only rely on Party City to stock one of those three things. For basic parties (birthdays, topical holidays, even weddings), there's a pretty solid selection; but venture beyond that (bachelorette, tiki, or twenties) and you're not going to find much. I especially hate how picked over their Halloween/costume section always seems to be -- whether you're in the middle of October or the middle of July. Scant selection all times of year. That said, the employees have always been helpful when I'm searching for a particular item. And they are, in my opinion, the best all-around party supply store in Durham. read more

If this was not the only party supply store near Chapel Hill, I would not go here. Store opens at 10 but they don't open the doors til 10:10. Employees saunter over to unlock the door. Don't even say good morning or come on in. Unlocks door and walks away. Then, needed to wait to check out because manager or whomever was responsible for cash drawers was not in yet so the registers had no cash drawers. When I finally cashed out, there was no thank you or have a nice day or thanks for shopping with us. Actually left without completing my list of what I needed because I did not want to spend any money in this store!!! read more

This really the closest Party City near me and have went there many times over the years. My daughter just had her 18th birthday and she wanted PINK giant number balloons to celebrate with but I had to order them online because the store only carries silver or gold. For balloons at $9.99 a PIECE, I thought that was a bit steep but you only turn 18 once, right? When I received them in the mail all I had to do is take them to the store with my receipt and they filled them for free and man they were HUGE and my daughter loved them. We waited in a long line to check out for our one costume we wanted today. We were taken to check out at the balloon counter after our 15 minute wait. Then the register went down and they had us stand there telling us no information for another 15 minutes. They finally said we can go wait in the line we already waited in all over again. I don't know why they were not clear from the beginning but once again after waiting we got taken back to the counter again. We asked for a small discount for 30+ minutes of our time. They were extremely rude and basically laughed in our faces. Please go anywhere else but here for your costumes. I've never seen such bad customer service. read more

I only give one star because I don't have the option to give a zero. Worst customer service ever. EVER!!!! If you really need Party City I think it would be worth the drive to Cary or Brier Creek. The Staff here is extremely rude, clueless, inefficient, and they have no interest to please/help a customer. This is based on three different past experiences. WORST Party City ever!! I've been to many other locations that were awesome but this one doesn't even feel like a real Party City! The counter staff are extremely rude & not helpful at all & the location doesn't seem to stock the same items as other locations. When purchasing a Mylar balloon recently they handed it to me with no clip or anything to hold it with but the string it was attached to so I asked for the usual little plastic clip other Party City stores have always given me but they said they didn't know what I was talking about. By the time I got home the balloon was half deflated so they apparently didn't even tie it off properly. I didn't go back as the counter staff were so obnoxiously rude when I asked for help before I didn't feel like dealing with them again. It was a horrible experience & disappointing since I've always loved Party City stores elsewhere. They should either fire their rude incompetent counter staff who act like they'd like customers to just go away & hire better ones or close the place down. Either way this was my first & last visit to this store. read more
