The management team definitely improved over the period of the year, I would definitely work with this team ordering bulk items and delivery. I would give zero stars if possible. Very misleading sales prices posted. When the Manager came he was very rude. I had a cart full of merchandise to buy. I was so disgusted with the Manager I left the store without making a purchase. I will not shop at Party City in the future. read more

I haven't ever had a problem with this chain, until now. I get it, it's a Saturday afternoon and I'm in here waiting on balloons. A thirty minute wait seems a bit much. While being checked out the young woman said "so you're purchasing all these" I really wanted to respond, why yes I am. They are only balloons! "High fly and a bag?" Yes was my response. "You know that's extra" well I didn't know that until now... THAT YOU JUST TOLD ME! "It's going to be a half an hour wait" I told her that's fine, then she asked ME what time it was. What a joke. Finally, I went to sign and she couldn't find a pen. What kind of establishment and employees work here?!!! Party City has officially lost my business! I ordered a personalized banner for my son, while ordering it gives me and error and back to the main screen, I waited a some time to see if a confirmation email came through and nothing. So I replaced the order and got a confirmation, then this morning I received 2 charges and 2 confirmations. I called customer service and they literally told me they could not do anything I would have to return the item. I explained it is a personalized item that says no returns or refunds. He said still nothing they can do, a different department will reach out and offer the "best options for me" terrible! Never giving them my business again! read more

You go in to buy a balloon arrangement. They tell you that's fine, but they have no helium. Ummmm? You ask what the discount is if you just take the flat balloon and fill it yourself. They say no discount because helium is free! The balloon does not stay inflated and up without helium. How is this not required? That's like saying "here are your new car tires with no air in them....go on and leave now." read more

Gurnee Party City is awful! I ordered ballons for my wedding reception. A substantional amount. They asked me what 2 hour time frame for my delivery. I said 10 to 12. Party is at 130pm. They sent less than 1/2 the ballons and the peraon delivering them threw them on mt porch with 4 popped and never rang a doorbell or nothing. Then I get a call saying the driver cancelled for the rest. I said my party is in 1 hour. I was told I would be called when they were picked up. No call happened. Now its after 130.. My receptioin has minimal ballons. Then I called and said forget it you have ruined my party from looking nice and please cancel and refund me. Manager guy said whatever I cant control driver and that i would get a refund. I did hang up as I had 200 people to entertain. Then at 2pm a lady shows up with ballons I said my order was cancelled I do not want these. How was I supposed to set ballons up with 200 people in my way and say opps need to interup your meal. They are the worst. Better off using someone else or doing it yourself. Still have not seen the refund. read more

Went to Party City in Gurnee, yesterday (Sunday). Knew what we wanted, got the item, went to the registers. 5 (five) employees were behind the counter blowing up balloons. We stood in line of which there was one other person. No employees acknowledged us, stood there for almost 5 minutes, no acknowledgment from the employees what so ever. They continued to talk with each other and laugh. Finally we just put our item on the counter and walked out. Still nothing from the employees. Clearly we will not be shopping this store again! For those pressed for time and unable to stop at multiple stores... This place has everything, just be prepared to pay a little extra. My wife and I just stoped by this location, it was 8:30 and the sign clearly reads that they close at 9. There was this girl at the door that was closing and turned us away saying that they close at 8:30 and just left and closed the door when we questioned what the sign said. read more

Very bad service with bad management. I ordered costume online in advance and paid for it. Which have 4 costume left available. When I arrived there, they couldn't find my order at all. So I was asked to wait for 2 hours in the store while they keep looking. I told them that I am not going stay and wait for 2 hours for their screwed up. Manager does not like my attitude even though I already paid for my costume online for pickup. They have a nerve to give me XL size instead standard size which was my original order. They didn't even apologize for their screwed up because they are not sorry at all. Since they were rude, lazy, disrespectful, and lack of work ethic. I asked for my refund since they did not do their job properly and their inventory properly. Manager refused to give my refund because of my attitude which I disagreed. Disagreement continue till manager gave up and gave back my refund. I told manager that I will never ever come back here again even order online for this location too. Still they aren't sorry for their behavior or their job performance. I wish headquarter would fire the manager and employees too for lack of their attitude and performance. read more
