This place is amazingly big & have tons of selections of different themes. It's 3-4x bigger than the one in Waikele. I like to come here when I'm wanting more options and things to get for parties or favors etc. This party city is located in Nimitz. It has a big sign, you cannot miss it! However, parking might be tricky. When you enter into the building you need to go around the building from the back (it's a one way streak) lol. Be careful when parking because lot of them have assigned parking for certain stores. You would of thought, it was public parking for all. But guess not! You can find everything you are looking for easily and such decent price. I was looking for a green wig for a green themed party and went online to see what the Party City Waikele location. On online they had a Green Curly Wig that was on sale for $6.00. Since the Waikele location had it in stock, I tried to place a online order for pickup but it stated "In Store Only", so I drove all the way from town to at least get 2-3 of these Green Curly Wigs for the party. When I got there I searched and searched and finely saw they had it in stock. But it was high above the display so I went to look for help. I saw only 2 associates and one was helping at the cashier and the other one was helping someone on the phone. So I ask the one helping on the phone, that I needed help after she was finished. So I went back to the display and saw another associate and ask him for help. I explained that I saw the Green Curly Wig online and it was on sale for $6.00 and it stated "In Store Only" But he explained at the bottom of the description, it say something like not all store abide by online. And he walked away. Never in my life I had someone just walk away and not help customers in the store. I think he as a manager as well. When I finally decided to buy at least one of this Green Curly Wig, even the cashier was rude behind the counter, not making eye contact when checking out. and I had to ask for a receipt. P.S. Went there for a quick trip of balloons for a birthday party, out of stock of mostly everything! The customer service was horrible I ended up grabbing 6 Mylar balloons and it took 45 minutes to blow up as I was waiting the phone was ringing and ringing every associate walked passed the phone including the store manager ignoring the ringing phone. I just read my review from 2010 of Party City and started crying because that was nine years ago when my son was only six-years old. This week my son is turning fifteen and now I'm going to curl up into a ball and sob uncontrollably while watching "Toy Story 3." Time really does fly when you have little ones, and when you don't have the time to make costumes or buy them online, Party City is where you go in Honolulu to make all your children's dreams come true. I come here at least once a month to buy party or favor items for school, holiday or work functions. Every Halloween we come to Party City to find our family costumes and look at the giant wall of costume photos, pick a number and have the staff member pull it from the back. My son who once wanted to be Wolverine from X-Men with the cute fake muscles, now only wants to be some type of horror movie character that kills everyone. Whhhhhyyyyyy cruel fate? Whhhhhyyyyyy??? Thankfully my daughters are both young enough where they still want to be fairy tale characters. But I know one day soon we will come back and they will want to be slutty nurses or slutty army girls or slutty Cleopatra. Whhhhhhyyyyyy.... That's why I am going to have another baby. So that even as my older children grow up into teenagers and adults, I can have an adorable child who I can find cute little costumes for and buy giant balloons that spell out his name and make color coordinated school favor baskets. I bought a wig from Party City because it was nice and cheap and the price showed $9.00 above it. The package was a little high on the wall for me but I was able to grab. At the register, it showed $22.00. I told the girl that the price is $9.00. I paid the $22.00 and walked back to the wigs. It showed $9.00. Further above the wigs were more wigs. My wig was up there but it showed $22.00. Whoever handles the display of any item should make sure the product is in the correct location. All the clerks could do was giggle and say 'sorry'. LOCATION: party city is located on nimitz. right next to tanaka saimin. in that little shopping area next to lowes :) SETTING: they have everything to your party needs! they hav party stuff for baby showers, weddings, bachlorettes, birthday parties, graduation, etc. all from balloons, candy, center pieces, toys, decorations :) you literally can find what you need in this place. also they follow the diff seasons and holidays so if halloween comes, they have ALOT of costumes for kids & adults. anything to fit each holiday. esp with balloons, they have alot you can choose from. SERVICE: the service there is okay. if you need help you have to look for a worker on the floor. most of them are gonna be walking around working, so i just look for a black shirt haha so i know its the workers. they also are nice & will help you find what you need. Balloons! Here recently for some birthday balloons and happily surprised with the selection and prices. Compared to Ben Franklin, much better. Place is large, orderly and staffed with cheery, helpful people. I've come over time for party supplies (plates, cutlery, etc.). I had to grab some impulse purchase candy also! Pop Rocks, Big League Chew. Fun place to visit when you need to gear up. Parking can be onerous as PC is located in a busy strip mallish development. Just started coming here and amazed it's so big. Yes, size does matter. I came here looking for Christmas props and found some. More than I could imagine at the time. Later I came for baking supplies. They didn't have what I really wanted but they had what I could use which is better than the several other places I checked out that had nothing. I need to remember I must get my baking necessities before Halloween. Service was pleasant and helpful. I've asked for assist many times. Love it's easy to find help. Party city is great for all your party needs! They have just about any theme that you can think of and all holiday items. I don't usually buy a whole bunch of items from here, but little things here and there. When my son had a transformers birthday party theme I went here to buy a few items. Their selection isn't as large for some of their themes and I wish that they had the same themes that they have on their website. However, the selection was very limited. The prices are also extremely inflated in the actual store verses online. They do not price match. However, if you are military you can sign up for their military discount card by just showing your military ID. They will then give you a military discount card or you can just give them your phone number every time you go in. This gives you a 10% discount which is better than nothing. Their parking lot can get a little crazy since there's a lot of restaurants next door. Definitely don't go during the lunch rush! read more

Was looking for retirement balloons and decided to come here since they have a variety of different styles. Looked on their website and it said they had 2 different styles in-stock. Well came to the store and they have a huge display of balloons on a back wall behind registers, and some styles have a "out of stock" tag on it. The 2 retirement styles didn't have any and after salesperson kept looking they were out for both. So decided to go with a "congratulations" balloon and that was also out. Asked if they could call Waipio location, which was also out. VERY disappointed considering I needed it for the next day. But I ended up finding one, and at all places, Safeway. Same design too. Very dissatisfied with my experience here. I had planned on purchasing a balloon bundle as seen in the photo. My normal location in Waikele said there was none in stock. I checked the Nimitz location and from the website it said there was 15 in stock. I drove down and when I got there I had asked the cashier for that bundle. She didn't know what I was talking about and I had explained there's a balloon bundle they sell with the number 13. As I was trying to get my phone to show a picture she goes and asks, who I'm assuming is the manager? This lady who was standing near by with a clipboard. This lady turns to me and says "we don't do that here." Which caught me off guard because it wasn't a "we're out of stock" type of response. I asked her what does she mean because the website says otherwise and she says "we don't do that here. You have to buy them individually." I've came here for all my families Halloween costumes and/or party supplies and for the most part, they have everything I need. It is a bit on the pricier side compared to places like Walmart, but Part City usually have things that those other places don't sell. They sell a large selection of party decorations for your tables, chairs, rooms, etc plus a large selection of balloons for all sorts of occasions. Halloween is me and my kids favorite non-holiday and so I love the Halloween decoration that this place has. There are literally hundreds of costumes and decorations. The staff here are very helpful and friendly. There's ample parking, but sometimes it can be full and it sucks because it's a "one way" parking bay, so if there isn't parking available, you'd have to drive all around the building to get back to the front side. read more

Everything there is pretty overpriced. I went to Ben Franklin and found the same items there for a decent price. Being it was my first time there I was a bit underwhelmed by the options for party decorations. A lot of things were sold out too, which I understand it's grad season/plenty of birthdays so cannot help. The customer service there isn't all that great either. The workers just stand around, don't ask if you need help finding anything, especially since that place is the size of a warehouse. I understand that the workers are probably not thrilled to be working and are Just there to make money, which I get but I wouldn't recommend this place, especially with how much you'll end up paying, you'd at least want to feel like the workers are interested in helping you. read more

I've been here only once so far, and I can say the experience was positive. I came in to purchase some balloons as a surprise for a friend's birthday. I didn't know how big the balloons would be. I came up to the cashier with two dozens of colorful latex balloons. I asked if I can purchase a dozen first to see if they are big enough for their purpose and of course, if they would fit in the car. When the first dozen being filled with air was done, I told my cashier that I would take the second dozen while heading out to the car with the first dozen. Both ladies, cashier and the person who filled the balloons with air, were nice and helpful: Props to the cashier for letting me know that if they fill the balloons with a regular gas, it would only last a couple of hours. I picked the other gas that would make them​ last longer, about 24 hrs, for $0.19/balloon. I also took note that the lady who filled the balloons with gas reminded me to be careful walking out with the balloons to my car, to prevent them from popping. Oh a plus also to the other lady I asked about the balloons, and gave me a recommendation to take the ala carte latex balloons vice the one packed, since the ala carte dozen would come out cheaper in total. I was on the hunt for a Halloween costume so I stopped by this new location after work yesterday. Now let me tell you, this place is HUGE! I was pleasantly surprised at how large the store was. I have to commend party city for making my search for a costume so much easier than I expected. They actually have a wall of pictures of the costumes that they have in stock, and all you need to is to tell the sales associates in the colored vests the style number and size of the costume that you want. Then, before you can say Harry Potter, your chosen costume magically appears with a sales associate and you actually have the option of trying it on. Just a NOTE: There are only 3 "fitting rooms" so be prepare to wait if choose to shop closer to Halloween. Also the "fitting rooms" only have a curtain not an actual door fyi. SERVICE: The service is ok. The attitude of the workers reminded me of students in high school detention: They're stuck in a place for a certain amount of time and they can't wait to leave. Before I left, I did walk around the store just to see what kind of selection they have. I think the section that impressed me the most was the aisle with all the napkins, forks, plates, tablecloths, etc. This aisle is almost ceiling to floor filled party supplies of all colors in the color spectrum......and more! There are several employees around to ask questions. Unfortunately they did not have the accessory in store I was looking for (only online) so I was bummed about that, and they didn't offer to order it for me which was surprising since many retail stores do that. Great big party store! I'm so happy they opened one in town. Having only one location for many years was crazy at Halloween. But it's still crazy busy in here during Halloween. Best thing is that they have a great system and communication between customer, staff and the runners. You tell them which one you want they put it on a list and relay the message to the runners in the back who quickly bring out your costume. This store always has great selection of party supplies. Party City is definitely my go to store every year for my son's birthday. Although I tend to go to the Waikele location as it is more convenient for me, this one is a lot bigger and I think has more selection of items. Again, I think for some of the more generic items Walmart may be a better bet price wise, but when you are looking for licensed characters usually Walmart doesn't carry that much. I usually price shop between here and Amazon to see who has the better deal. This place is very good for balloons. Not that they are priced well (because its usually cheaper at Walmart or grocery stores), but they have a HUGE selection of balloons. They will not, however, blow up balloons that you did not buy from them. So usually you can buy their balloons and have them blow it up, or rent a tank from them, or buy one from them or Walmart. read more

I purchased decorations and a huge number 5 balloon online, where it clearly states that you can bring your balloons to any location and they'll inflate them for free. I brought mine in and purchased a bunch more that weren't available online. They asked for my receipt to blow up the one I purchased on their website, which I pulled up on my phone, but then said it would be $15 to blow it up. I showed them the policy, and their reply was that corporate made a mistake and I can call corporate. Extremely disappointing for my 5 year old, who lucky for them was with me, otherwise I would've said a lot more than simply telling them how unbelievable they are. I like the fact that it's conveniently located off of Nimitz, I like that it's very organized and clean when you enter, and I especially like that convenient parking is located right outside the front door. It offers tons of options for Halloween, birthday parties and for the occasional class project. It's close to Bangkok chef, Lowes, Home Depot, Best Buy and the forever needed Costco. Friendly staff, and usually a minimal wait time to check out. Convenient to town, that drive out to Waikele can be a nightmare at times. Negatives: THE PARKING ABSOLUTELY SUCKS !!! yep that's about it for the negatives. Recently we had to go get some items for a class project for Jan and literally it took more time to find a parking spot than to shop for all of her tidbits.
