I visited your store in Hamilton, New Jersey on February 24th 2025. I spent well over $120 in the store, and one of the purchases was for a balloon for around $13. It was a number seven rainbow mylar balloon that I wanted inflated on Friday April 4th 2025 for around 10:00am that morning. I called the night before on Thursday April 3rd saying that I was not going to be in on Friday April 4th, please don't inflate the balloon, and I'm not sure when I will be in. The person at the store on the phone that I spoke with said no problem. Fast forward to today, June 18th 2025, I went into the store and asked if we could "exchange" the number seven balloon for a dog balloon holding a red heart. I was told by the person wearing a bandanna that "yes I could exchange it". I had my yellow pick up slip of proof that I had already paid for this other balloon. Then the narrative changed that the number seven balloon had been blown up and been in their back for months and that I had to take that balloon. The balloon looked absolutely brand new, like it had just been blown up tonight. I have about 10 mylar balloons at my home that were blown up on April 4th from a different party store that are all pretty much very deflated. Some are not even flying anymore. There is absolutely no way that this balloon in the picture below was blown up back on April 4th, and that it has been sitting in their back office this long. Most "honest" party stores will not guarantee a Mylar balloon staying inflated for more than a week. This worker "lied" to my face, first said she "would" let us exchange, and then told us she "wouldn't". Not only did she lie to me, but she lied to my 7 year old daughter's face and gave her false hope when she thought we could get the dog balloon that she really wanted badly!!!! There is absolutely no reason we should not have been able to exchange the mylar seven balloon for the dog balloon my daughter really wanted!!!! I am completely outraged by the horrible customer service that your store offers, and stands by!!!! read more

Ok, I can see some of the chaos other reviews seem to hint at, when I came to pick up my order on a Saturday. It should have been ready for me since I thought I had paid in advance. And they did try to call, but my number was incorrectly jotted down. I had shopped here on occasion and knew it to be place to find better balloons when going all out for a 96 year olds bday. And many other useful party items can be had as well. It's one of those places that unless you are thinking of special occasions, seems to fade into the background. On my initial trip I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and was advised to pick out what I wanted and pay in advance to ensure a quick pick up on the weekend. I bought two big number balloons at 10:04 am on April 7th. By the time I got home (10 min later), the 7 was deflated. Luckily, I went to ShopRite and they inflated another 7 for me. They also took into consideration that it was raining nonstop, and they placed the balloon into a plastic bag. MY HISPANIC. COMMUNITY PLEASE DON'T COME HERE . My mom and I came in around 11 to pick some balloons out for my cousin and to also look for some balloons to possibly make and order for an upcoming birthday party for my younger brother . My moms first language is Spanish . She does speak English well enough for you to understand her . She brought me along for the order to translate just in case . I was looking around staying near my mom in case she needed me . My mom went up and was trying to ask for a balloon that was up on the wall , it said it came in pink so she was asking the lady she could have one in pink . The older lady with white hair took us . My mom has an accent , again it's understandable. As soon as the lady heard her accent she immediately changed her demeanor. Arguing with me mother claiming it was blue not pink . She was so rude I quickly went over to my mom . I continued to explain to the lady that it said on the ballon it also came in pink . She shook her head at me and kept arguing that it's was blue . Finally a young girl came over to correct her and say that it also came in pink . She put her hands in the air and blamed it on the owners because they never told her . Even though it says on the balloon that she made us go over and point too . And this point the young girl took over . I confined the order with her instead because I was going nowhere with the older lady . This whole time she was still huffing . I payed for the weight and the balloon and the girl took it over to blow it up . The older lady was staying around the whole time not doing anything all upset because of our encounter .  Finally the girl blows up my balloon and ties it to a black weight since I didn't like how the pink weight looked . The older lady came over to argue with the new girl who was taking me . Because she put a black weight which is what I as the customer wanted . At this point I'm ready to leave . Not only did she embarrass me and my mom . But now she was harassing the girls working . At this point the balloon is done and in a bag , my mom is still shopping . So I decided to look at balloons to order .  The girl who was helping me had to leave the bathroom . So the older lady took me again . This time I wanted Thomas the train balloons . She claimed they don't have it . Asking me if I had seen the style in the aisle . The girls came up at this point doing their own things . A line started to form behind me . And she was AGAIN arguing with me and the girl Again tried helping me . My mom came up at this point . We were both not understanding of how this older lady could be so rude not only to us but also to the kids working there . We looked at the other balloon options and decided we didn't like any of them . Luckily the girl who took us this time was Hispanic so she spoke with my mother . Way different experience than with the older lady . The girl who blew up the original balloon for me with the ginger / orange hair was so nice and understanding . The lady just didn't give out in harassing everyone . The other customers around me were also uncomfortable with the older lady . Harassing and cursing under her breath at the employee and at me and my mother . Finally I decided I did not want to be there anymore so after dealing with the constant rude and disrespectful attitude towards me and other customers from the older lady, me and my mother walked out . If I could give 0 stars I would. I purchased things for a bachelorette party at this establishment. Didn't use some of the items, including some that were opened when I purchased and was advised I could return the items if I did not use them. I attempted to return these items as we did not use them, the women there proceeded to advise me that they were chewed up (they were not) and that I was lying about what I had been told. This was absolutely the worst customer service and I was simply trying to return items for store credit since it was over the 30 days and I advised I was over the thirty days. what an odd shopping experience. I was preparing for Halloween, and had ordered the majority of items from Amazon, and picked up a few things from Party CITY at the Marketplace. Realizing I needed two more things, I hopped over here on my lunch break because it was closer than going all the way back out to the Marketplace. What an odd experience. Now, trust me -- I really do sympathize with retailers today. It is hard competing with amazon.com and with big box stores. So you would think a place like this would try extra hard. well, even before you walk in there are signs -- signs for everything -- which leads me to believe they have been burned so much they have to alert potential customers of everything. first of all -- no returns or exchanges of Halloween costumes. And I do get that. People are jerks, and would buy a costume, use it, and return it. But for those of us, the majority, who don't do this, these signs, even before you get into the place, are assaulting. Then you browse the very narrow aisles of Halloween stuff. Very narrow. and there are signs everywhere -- don't open bags, don't do this, don't do that. Again, I get it. Most people are jerks. Then you get to the counter. The older woman could not have been more annoying, and that sealed the deal for me. She repeated to me at least 6 times about no returns. Then she opened the packaged wig I was buying, searched a really long time for the buried tag, matched it up with the SKU number on the package, and made me actually look at it and confirm to her that they were the same. Then I realized there were more signs at the registers. You cannot use a debit or credit card for a purchase under $10, and they actually cite the law that allows them to do this right on the sign. Apparently, those of us who carry no cash at all cannot buy small items there, because our debit cards are no good. I can only guess the recession hit this chain hard. They are struggling to stay afloat with Party City, Amazon, and Walmart chomping away at customers. But i personally will never go back, for the reasons stated. Again, all understandable. I haven't gone to this place in quite a while because I know how iffy they are about returns and how rude everyone is. I ended up going in there to see what things they had for a gender reveal party. I ended up purchasing 6- 8pc plates and 8 packs of 10pc napkins. I didn't know how many people were coming to the gender reveal so I knew I would be returning items. Sure enough I misplaced the receipt. I go to the store to return the plates and napkins and I tell the older lady with the white hair and glasses at the register that I had a return without a receipt I got the rudest NO! she did this hand motion that seemed like she wanted me to get away from the counter. Meanwhile her NO! had heads turned I was so mortified. I kept telling her can I get store credit everything is sealed you can put them back on the shelf and resell them but she continue to rudely say "well I don't know if they are 30 days old or not and the owners are not here and I don't want this return being under my name in the register. I asked if she could look up the purchase with the credit card I had used and again I got this whole lecture. I finally came to realize that this store needed the $40.00 I spent or plates and napkins more then I needed the $40.00 and I was mad at myself for even coming back to this store because I knew how this store operated. I honestly don't understand how this store has been open for as long as it has. I much rather shop on amazon or party city. The owner also need to work on their attitudes and their employees attitudes. Your in business because of your customers so please don't be annoyed that they are in your store. All the negative reviews really surprise me. This place is my go-to party store. I often find things here that aren't at the Party City in Hamilton Marketplace, and it's so much easier to get to! In my experience, the staff's never been anything but pleasant, courteous and efficient. I've never heard or seen the manager treat her staff badly. And yes, they do have signs posted around the store with their rules about returns, etc., but I'd rather have the signs so I know what's what than be unpleasantly surprised if I tried to bring something back. There's a minimum of $10 (I think) on credit cards, which is a little surprising, but hasn't been an issue for me. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. I simply needed six regular balloons for my baby's first birthday party today. When I was checking out with the balloons the lady at the cash register said that I would have to wait several hours because they could not inflate them right away.they are unorganized and had very poor service. the staff is so nasty, unfriendly and so rude...you walk in and they don't even say hi or anything! i went here for stuff for my husbands birthday. each thing i was looking for was about $2 more then i saw them online at party city! also they don't have many options for themed events. when i asked the girl where the fiesta themed stuff was she showed me by pointing to a isle without even looking up at me! i got a few things i needed and when i got on the line i asked the lady if i could have 4 balloons .. she looked at me like i was crazy! she said ummm did you call this ballon order in ahead of time? i said no its only 4 balloons so i didn't think it was a big deal? she said she does not do walk in orders and had no time for my 4 balloons and would not blow them up for me! it made me so mad i just left all the stuff on the counter and walked out! read more

I purchased a 5-pound bag of candy (among other party supplies) for the pinata we were planning to have at my son's birthday party. It was just an assortment of regular candy--nothing seasonal at all. In the meantime, I found a better deal on candy at Wegman's; plus, the candy from Wegman's was going to fit in the pinata better (the pinata had a very small hole to put the candy in). So two days later I return to Party Fair with original receipt and candy in hand to return. I was told I could not return the candy. Period. I was so upset. I left, then immediately went back into the store and looked at the HUGE sign stating their return policies--it said nothing about candy. Nor did the receipt. I was within their 30-day return period and had the original receipt and unopened/unused item. I asked where it said that I could not return the candy, since it obviously was not on the sign. I was told it was the store policy and that there was a sign in the aisle where the candy was. I went and looked. There was NO sign anywhere in that aisle. I asked them to show me were the "sign" was--they refused, said I was being rude (in frustration I did make a comment to my son the first time we left, which they overheard). I took pictures of the aisle and left. I told them I would never buy anything there again. I immediately started a dispute with my credit card company over this, and was refunded the full price of the candy. I will shop at PARTY CITY from now on. I had never had a problem with them before! Talk about stupidity on their part. Now I get to keep the candy, don't have to pay for it, and I will tell everyone not to shop there. Really smart, Party Fair, really smart. read more
