I came in on Thursday with my daughter and my nails are already chipped. Toes and nails- I came from out of town and figured I'd try it, I should've just waited til I went back home. Then she told me that the color I picked for my nails would match my toes. She is obviously color blind! Very disappointed in the service and it was way over priced! I've lived in Reno for two years now. The first year I was shopping around for a good salon, I came from LA so I'm super spoiled on this front. I couldn't find a single place that was even remotely comparable to my place in LA so I actually went months without doing my nails at all, or unsuccessfully attempting to do it myself because I was so furious with the lack of skilled technicians in Reno. I knew about party nails but avoided it for a while because the reviews weren't great and I was so jaded by pervious reno experiences. But one day I got fed up with how hideous my hands looked and decided to try it out. The first time I went was with the previous owners - I was satisfied with the job they did so I kept going back, also it was relatively less expensive than other places and super close to my house so for the money and convenience I thought whatever I'll make this my go to place. The owner sold out around July and i was PISSED because i thought I'd have to start my search all over again. But I decided to give the new owners a shot and I'm actually super happy I did. I was set up with Kat on my first visit and I haven't used anyone else since. Kat is AMAZING, 100% better than the previous owners and tbh it appears she's the best one there because I've seen some of the other jobs while getting my own done and they don't compare at all. Kat does my acrylic full sets and fills with gel polish. She's amazing at shaping them, we've done square, coffin, almond, you name it - and even customs of those shapes to get it juuust right. She never makes me feel bad if I'm picky about anything. And I've been able to go a lot longer between full sets because she does a great job making the nail last so it won't break off, and at the same time they are thin enough that I can actually scratch! (Not being able to scratch an itch because the nail is too thick is absolute torture). Sometimes I get too busy to go back for a fill, and yet the nails will last the whole time. Longest I went was 5 weeks! Nothing broke off. Of course, the grow out wasn't pretty but no one can help that. If Kat ever leaves party nails, I'll follow her. I've even told her I'd drive to her house just so I don't have to use anyone else. I HIGHLY recommend requesting Kat as your technician if you're going to give this place a shot. read more

I was in a very happy mood this morning when I woke up. It's a beautiful day and I was ready to go get my manicure and pedicure. On my way to Party Nails, I decided to have a beautiful Jade marble look. I found multiple pictures on Pinterest, very easy ways to make this look happen. Any licensed nail technician is capable of performing this job. I honestly felt like I was a burden for even asking.. they they literally talked me out of everything that I wanted because they said they could not do it! They convinced me to do what they wanted to do which was the easy route so I decided forget it I'll just get whatever they want me to get because they seem annoyed with me... So really I wanted to feel relaxed and welcomed but I felt horrible the whole time and I still tipped $10 even though I knew they could care less for me and they just wanted me in and out of there. I work in the hospitality business so I understand and have taken into consideration that businesses are doing their best during these times; that being said, this is the reason why I'm giving them a star simply for being open. However, I feel like the customer service my sisters and I received this evening could've been a regular visit before Covid19. The only reason why I paid $45 + $5 tip. A learning experience... My sisters and I called ahead and asked if they take walk-ins and the woman over the phone said yes after five. A little after five, we walk in for two fills and a regular nail polish manicure. They had an attitude but said okay, sign in pls and wait. We double checked their closing time and it says 7pm (PST). We waited for an hr before One lady was available and took me over to do my nails. The guy was just standing around and another woman disappeared. The one doing my nails didn't want to file my nails the way I wanted and where I showed was an issue and it shows! Around 6:30pm she finishes, walks over to the other worker to talk and after the other worker tells me if we can come back tomorrow because the others are tired and want to go home already. So they asked my sisters to come back tomorrow so they can clock out. SIGN SAYS THEY CLOSE AT 7PM. Where are the other workers? They said they started at 8:30 but I'm sorry your hours posted says other. So if that is the case I highly suggest changing your hours! And if this is what they hire to work as their standards then I question their quality and I have a picture that will remind me I have a right to do so. As a favor, let me save you the trip and funds and book at La Belle off of Sharlands. It's the closest and only other one I've gone to since I've been back to Reno in five years and they're decent but waaaaay better than here...no offense. I get tired at work too, but it's not an excuse to do an half-ass job and abandon what you should've been trained properly to do. read more

Today was the second time I made an appointment and was made to wait. I will not bother again. I sat for 20 minutes past the appointment time - no one spoke to me to apologize, no explanation of how long it was going to be. I had planned my day and could not wait forever for them to run their business properly. There were 7 customers and 4 employees - it could have been another hour for all I know. Traveling through the area with my husband in our 5th wheel and stopped in on a whim. We choose this salon based on reviews from Yelp and the easy location. We were not disappointed. Even tho the salon was busy it was very clean. We expected to have to wait because we were walk-ins but were pleasantly surprised they could do our pedis right away. They were even able to do a new set of acrylics and and mani for the man and we never felt rushed. The price variety is a little annoying and unpredictable, but I usually enjoy my experience. But I went Wednesday to get my nails done for college graduation & Thursday & Friday I broke a nail. I walked in on a Sunday morning at 9 am and was enthusiastically greeted by the owner, Tam, and the other two ladies working in the shop. I had the deluxe pedicure with gel polish - I highly recommend it, calluses removed, sugar scrub and lotion massage and parrafin wax. So relaxing! Also had an acrylic and gel manicure. I look like a million bucks! Go see Tam and her awesome crew. Update: my nails lasted until the following Friday, almost a week, when the gel peeled off of one nail, and 3 other nails started to chip. I cried in my car after i got my nails done here. I had to drive to a new salon to get a brand new set. The polish was uneven with bubbles and stroke marks. The shape was crooked and not anything similar to what i wanted. I honestly asked for my money back because this trash set was not worth the $50 I spent on it. I would give them ZERO stars if I could. My nails & toenails are different colors, bubbling & also he painted my cuticles. If that wasn't enough, they were just downright rude. I'm in the customer service industry and one of the nicest people ever, especially to clients. When I asked Adam for a recommendation, he said "I don't know it's not me it's you" VERY RUDELY. To further matters, there was a sweet lady who wanted to sit in the massage chair (not even turn it on mind you) and he refused even though there was NO ONE in the salon. As soon as I got done with my pedicure, They moved me out of it also. I was having a hard time turning it on and the woman who did my pedicure just watched me struggle. I'm going to my regular lady in Truckee to have my 70 dollar mani pedi redone. RIDICULOUS. Terrible & rude. I've been here a few times to give them another chance and although their staff is nice, they always seem like they're in a rush. They do ok work but one thing that's really unfortunate is that they use a drill to smooth out your nails (after they take off your gel or polish) even if you're just getting gel and not acrylic. I feel like that's so bad for your nails. They're taking away layers making your nails thinner. I wish they'd just buff it out but like I said, I think they're in a rush all the time so that might easier for them to just use the drill. The attention to detail to the professionalism was spectacular and makes me want to come back every time I'm in town! I was able to see Adam upon walking in on a quiet Monday afternoon. The place is very well lit and very spacious. The decor is modern and you don't have 10 nail techs all talking to each other at once. It was so relaxing and my kind of space. Adam took the time to pick out which color glitter to use on my nails. He made them feel so natural and light and EVEN! No wandering nails here. Each one is on point. I loved how fast it went too without feeling at all rushed. Omg the pedi is when I literally melted on my chair. The pedi chairs are brand spanking new. They recline and they work! I couldn't help but close my eyes and nearly dozed off even through extractions. Adam was gentle but got those pesky dry beds on the sides of my toes. His massage was on point and the hot stone was a deal closer! I was able to enjoy the space and Adam never made me feel like a typical cow at a nail shop. It was an amazing first time! This is a very and modern nail salon, and Leslie and Kim are great! I go every 2 weeks for a gel manicure and every 2 months for a deluxe pedicure. The deluxe pedicure includes hot stones, hot towels, massage, paraffin and all the bells and whistles! Yesterday I got the new "cat eye" gel manicure, the streak is done with a magnet. Worst experience ever!!! While we waited for our scheduled appointment, we watched the owner tell a customer, that was at the counter paying for her nails, 'Don't be late next time"!!! I was a little surprised by it but we finally got our chairs for our pedicures; 20 minutes late. As I am standing next to the chair to take off my shoes, I placed a pair of sandals on the seat. This salon is not a relaxing environment as they're yelling in Vietnamese half the time. I had gel polish on my toes and she charged me five dollars more just to takeoff the polish. Okay you guys; Adam and Ava are the most amazing nail techs I have EVER had. I've never had any other people put in so much time and love into my nails. Both times that I went, I came in with horrific nails. Both times, I came out feeling like a queen! Or a catlike warrior! Or like I'm proud to show my hands in public! The first time I needed a fill on my gel set. The place that I went to before hand did the worst job imaginable (chunky, uneven, painfully done, too short, filed away my natural nail bed, etc. Do not go to Spa Nails on 4th). Ava took my gross, thick, tear drop nails and turned them into even, thin, crimson almonds. They were glorious and the color of the blood of my enemies (Looking at you Spa Nails). My second time was about 5 weeks after that fill. I was missing half of my gels because I picked at them like a bad nail owner. Bad. The remaining 5 gels were grown out so long I could see that little light half moon in my nail bed. They were atrocious and embarrassing and totally my fault because we all know I should've gotten them filled two weeks prior. Adam sat down with me in the chair and said "You need a new set, honey". Then he performed magic. He removed my remaining scary nails, that were still somehow attached, and replaced them with these awesome nude almonds with rad polka dots on two of them. Guys, this amazing couple takes their time on your hands. They make sure everything is even and how you want it. Their perfectionism shines through in the even coats and even filing.
