This was a great office to go to for eye care. I stumbled upon Pasadena Eye Care from Groupon -- it is a free exam with a $200 voucher for glasses. That was a great deal in my opinion, especially with the quality of service. The owner is so kind and really cares about the quality of his practice, and I love that it is a family business; his daughter even works there and you can tell how proud he is of her. I wasn't a huge fan of the eye doctor I saw but it was the end of the day so I understand his non-enthusiasm. The frames ranged from about $150 up to probably like $450. All of them really stylish and nice. With the Groupon, I only ended up paying a couple hundred for my new glasses. Overall, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, it is small but the service is exceptional. read more

Took my son here for his first contacts. The dr was fine, pretty no nonsense. The gentleman that assisted my son with learning how to put the lenses in and take them out was fantastic. He really takes a lot of time and care with patients. I was also impressed that he seemed to know every other patient that came in. We are new to the area, both needed new RXs & glasses, & on a recommendation by a close friend, tried Pasadena Eyecare. In a word? Awesome. Having lived in both DC and Baltimore, so w high expectations, we BOTH found this to be the BEST experience, best eye exam, most accurate RXs either of us have had in years. What a pleasure. Getting an appt. was simple, the eye exam was thorough, carefully done, w explanations of each part, and our RXs were absolutely perfect. Thoughtful consideration was given to type of lenses, cost factors, & our personal preferences. I appreciated their accurate recommendation of frames bases upon my RX etc., to ensure best look, best fit, and ensuring lenses looked the smallest, as my RX is strong. The 1st frame of several they recommended was 100% correct, & is the one I chose. Good decision. The glasses were ready (a factor driven partly by frame choice, partly by us have other eye factors w complicated lens needs ) just 1-3 days later, and pick-up was simple. I am very near sighted, use contacts & glasses, and over the years gotten used to the fact that new glasses/contacts from other places were never "quite right"--they always seemed far too strong, and took long adjustment to, to not feel dizzy. Not w Pasadena Eyecare lenses! THEY produced crystal clear vision instantly--they just felt "right", & 2 months later, still are. The glasses were SO perfect that I returned & bought a 2nd backup pair and sunglasses. The RX sunglasses are fantastic--I lived in them all summer, & knowing that they help prevent cataracts convinced me they were worth every penny. My husband & I highly recommend Pasadena Eyecare. I had an eye exam here last week and somehow forgot that I have vision insurance (don't judge!) so I stopped by the office today to pick up an itemized receipt to send to my insurance company. It just so happened that Martin Blake, the practice's owner, was the only one in the office. While he was getting the receipt ready, we talked about how I was planning to either order my progressive lenses online or buy lenses online and bring them to Pasadena Eyecare to have the lenses put in. Now I want to emphasize that he DID NOT give me a "hard sale". He explained to me a lot I didn't understand about the notoriously hard to fit progressive lenses and that he had never seen a person who ordered them online who was satisfied with the result. He understood that, like everyone, I like to save a buck when I can. He actually took the time to contact my vision insurance company and have them fax over the list of benefits then sat down with me and explained the dizzying array of lenses and treatments. He then showed me how I would actually be saving money buying my glasses and frames from Pasadena Eyecare because of how my insurance worked. (Disclaimer: this may not be the case for everyone, but it definitely was for me). Then he helped me pick some frames; patient with my declarations that this frame was "too round, that frame was "too pointy" and that other frame was "yucky". I finally did find the perfect one, though. Martin must've spent close to 45 minutes helping me and that is a level of service that, sadly, most of us aren't used to. I had my eye exam with Dr. Patel last week and I liked him; he was very personable and patient with my million and one questions. The front office staff was great, too. I'm very happy that such a quality business has made a home in the 'dena and I'll be telling that to anyone who will listen! read more
