We absolutely loved the education our daughter received. The maestras are wonderful and care deeply about the children. We were also given a discount so our daughter could attend more days, which was very helpful, as preschool is costly. Unfortunately, because we decided to send our daughter to TK in our district and not continue her for a third year at Pasitos, she was not allowed to graduate the school. That really left a bad taste in our mouths. TK is now universal in California and we purposely put our daughter in at 2, so she would get 2 years of preschool before moving on to TK. I did talk to the co-owner of the preschool and we left the conversation with different opinions. I do recommend Pasitos, however, this is something I think parents should consider before choosing this school. There are other preschools out there that will include your child, in graduation, who is leaving and moving onto TK. read more

Our daughter has been attending for the past two years. It is such a great place & we are sad to leave. The maestras (teachers) are loving, kind, and understanding with the kids. They teach and practice positive discipline (social emotional learning techniques), which has been so helpful for us. I think my daughter has grown so much in her emotions and ability to speak up for herself. Their activities are reggio emilia based - child-led, emergent, collaborative, and there are multiple varied activities kids can partake in. They get a lot of outdoor play time - from mud kitchens, to climbing play structures, to gardening, to water play in the summers. They are not afraid to have fun and get messy - there were weeks where every day my daughter came home in her change of clothes because of how much fun she had! They also learn to take care of the classroom bunny. And they have fields trips throughout the year. I could go on and on about Pasitos; it truly is a magical and special place. read more

They create such a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe and supported. One of the things that really stood out to us was that there's no screen time -- everything is hands-on and interactive, which is exactly what we were looking for. Pasitos was home of my little before going to Kinder. The teachers are amazing, they are so caring and with a Montessori- like approach. They would always bring great learning activities for the kids including learning how to prepare food, story time and lots of motor skill activities. The teachers all speak Spanish and they try to always communicate to the children in Spanish. Even when the kids are speaking only in English they always redirect to Spanish. My son who is now turning 7 still talks about Pasitos. He LOVED his time there. read more

Amazing teachers and staff. The school is play based learning and is a Spanish immersion school. My daughter and I do very basic Spanish at home and is now speaking more and more and teaching me new phrases and words. The room is big with lots of activities for the kids and the outside is great! My daughter goes to school excited and comes home so happy and can't stop talking about all the fun she had both with her peers and teachers. I have had the privilege of sending both of my girls (4 and 2) to Pasitos West. Both girls had a great experience. The girls took nicely to the staff quickly and to the Spanish lessons. The staff there at Pasitos was kind and patient with my girls. They keep the children interested all day with a wide variety of activities. I feel at ease leaving my children there because the staff cares for my kids like I do. Everyday when I come to pick them up all children are smiling and enjoying themselves. My girls show me all the art and new toys they have created. Often the girls don't want leave because they are having such a great time. At time time, I usually get an update from one of the Maestras about the girls day. All-in-All Pasitos is a great environment for children. They challenge the kids with Spanish, Science, Reading, and most traditional school subjects. But at the same time the staff shows great patience and emotional support. read more

I've been so grateful for the education and familia I have found at Pasitos. They value the individuality of each child and engage with the whole family to ensure each child is educated and cared for. I have always received prompt communication (e.g. my child tripped and hurt themselves and updates on their day) such that I do not worry about my children in their care. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Pasitos West. The Maestras are all so caring and nurturing. Best preschool on the planet, as far as I'm concerned. This is my daughter's second year at Pasitos West and she loves it. She is learning so much, including Spanish. They send parents a weekly email explaining what all the "friends" learned that week. They take pictures and the parents get to see their kids in action. I feel like I am really informed about the happenings at Pasitos. The Maestras welcome every "friend" in the morning. They invite them to do activities. They allow for each child to learn through play. They use positive discipline. Just wonderful loving people. Pasitos also provides opportunities for parent enrichment. I took a positive disciple class through the school. They have a panel for parents about transitioning children to kindergarten. We had a family play day at the park, camping trip, and lots of field trips. If I could give Pasitos more stars, I would. read more

I visited Pasitos preschool with the intention of enrolling my daughter in their program. I was sure this was the place for her because I was looking for a bilingual school for her. I had set up an appointment to visit the school but they seemed to have forgotten I was coming... My first turn-off was when I got out of my car and saw trash in the playground (dirty, old wrappers, sippy cup and some other stuff). When I entered the classroom (which seemed small to me) there were kids' shoes blocking the entrance. There were three teachers and all of them were dressed in either all gray or all black and two of them looked like they were going to the gym or to do laundry. They all looked very tired and without energy. I was there for over and hour and one of the teachers never spoke to the kids, she just tapped them and pointed. I thought she was a parent volunteer and was surprised to learn she was a teacher. The other two teachers who did speak to me didn't seem 100% "native" speakers. I am a native Spanish speaker and as I listened to the main teacher read a book in Spanish to the kids, I cringed at her inability to put the right accent on the words as she read them (resulting in a changed meaning of the book). I listened in on Circle Time and was surprised to see that the children are not corrected when they make grammatical mistakes. So if a child said "This boy wear hat" instead of "This GIRL is wearing a hat", the teacher just nodded. The toilet seats were dirty. The soap dispenser was completely watered down which I found gross, and the paper towels were out of reach for the kids and not easy to rip off the roll. The playground had nice jungle gym equipment but the cars, outdoor play houses and little buggies weren't all in good shape or clean. Some of them were broken. The little plastic houses were caked with dirt, dried rain water, leaves and looked abandoned. When the woman in charge of tours arrived she was dressed very nice and spoke perfect Spanish. She was kind, professional and answered all of my questions. If I had gone to an open house, with the teachers are all dressed up and the classroom ready to impress, and if I had only spoken to the woman who actually gave me the tour, I would have probably enrolled my daughter. I'm glad I saw the reality of the school. read more

My daughters attended Pasitos this summer and loved it. The atmosphere is relaxed and I like the way the teachers let the kids explore their own creativity. No worksheets or coloring books. They came home with paintings they made from colored ice cubes and tiny origami fish they insisted on hanging from our living room ceiling to create an "aquarium." Pasitos features lots of inside and outside space to roam, the teachers facilitate fun songs and pretend play, and best of all it really piqued my kids' interest in learning Spanish. My son has attended Pasitos for the last two and half years and has benefitted tremendously from the kind, super-smart teachers, low student: teacher ratio, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. In just over two years he has learned vital social skills for kindergarten, phonetics, pre-math skills - and Spanish! He completely breezed through his Kinder assessment a few months ago and has all the skills and confidence to go on to become a lifelong learner. The school itself feels more like a comfortable, clean home environment. It has a couch and reading area, fish tank as well as areas for art/play/cooking, etc. It also has a wonderful play structure in the back, organic garden, sand pit, grass and plenty of area for the children to run, and ride all the fun bikes and wagons they have. Pasitos has been a part of our lives for almost 4 years now. Our son started at the Pasitos Hibiscus campus in 2007 at 3 years old and graduated from their Preschool. He is now in 1st grade and still a part of the Pasitos family as he attends the afterschool program and Summer Camps at the Sonora Pasitos campus. The Spanish Immersion really helped prepare our son for his Spanish Elementary School where he is now doing so well. It has been so wonderful for him to continue a relationship and learning even after preschool. The nurturing and learning provided by the Maestras is amazing as well as the communication with the teachers and parents. I always feel assured and confident that the children's best interest is key and they are safe when at Pasitos. My son started attending Pasitos at the central location two months ago. Since the first phone call I made to get information, I started having a positive experience. Maestra Tammy took the time to explain the program, answer all my questions in the most informative way. Then, I met Maestra Ruth and I was sold. By talking briefly with her, I knew that she really enjoys working with children, she is warm and always has a smile on her face. My son was able to connect with her immediately! While I value the maestras charisma and loving character, I also was looking for teachers who were able to handle situations where children were not behaving at their best and I wasn't disappointed. They use positive discipline and also make their best effort to connect with the children which definitely plays a role on how they behave. The Maestras sit on the floor, play with the children in the playground, eat at the table with them and really try their best to create a nurturing environment for them.One day my son was having a hard time and said that he missed his mom, Maestra Ruth had taken and printed a picture of me and him and gave it to him for comfort :)..... Another thing that I value about Pasitos is the way they encourage children to be creative and independent learners, some of the toys they have are cardboard boxes, old phones, old computer keyboards and basic stuff that children use to learn and discover. I am really grateful to have found Pasitos and highly recommend it to parents who are committed to embrace their kids childhood. read more

I have two sons attending Pasitos and they LOVE going to school. Pasitos is play-based and loving where the teachers allow for creative experimentation and exploration. Plus, the boys are learning Spanish. It's only been two months and they can sing in Spanish and understand basic Spanish instructions. I've also seen an improvement in their English skills. They both have made good friends and always want to stay longer at school. I'm very pleased with the education, care and fun. Pasitos is a wonderful and very special place. Why? Because the maestras are caring, patient and take the time to really get to know their "friends" (the students). Pasitos is the kind of preschool that you hope you can find for your little one. We came to Pasitos for the Spanish immersion program, but we've learned that it's so much more than that. Our daugher will be in kindergarten in the Fall, and already the teachers and I get teared up just thinking about it. The bond between the Pasitos community is strong and we will miss it when we move on - and certainly come back for visits as so many of the alums do! read more

I'm am writing specifically in reference to the West location. This used to be a wonderful school but ever since one of the owners children no longer attends and they split the duties between schools, it's gone downhill. When you are searching for school, always ask how long the teachers have been there. There have been large turnovers at this school of teachers. Just when your child gets used to a new teacher, they leave or transfer to the other location. I've never been to the other location but I'm guessing it must be nicer than the West location because all of the teachers either transfer there or leave at a very high rate. In one year, there have been 5 teachers who have come and gone. As a result of this and lack of supervision from a director level, the students are not as closely watched. The outside property is too large for them to handle. One day I picked my child up early before lunch (NO DIRECTOR OR OWNER WAS THERE) and I saw this one little girl all by herself near the parking lot and tree in the front of the school. The teachers were either inside the classroom and two were chatting by the outside door, no one paying attention to the one little girl about 70 feet away from them. I'm not even sure if they knew she was there because there is a blind spot if you are standing near the classroom door looking out to the yard. They were too busy talking and the rest of the children were inside or playing on the playground. They claim they have the best student to teacher ratio but that doesn't mean anything if they can't keep the students near by and supervised. My child has been significantly injured under their care three times, two incidents which could have been avoided with proper judgement and if the teachers had properly been supervising them. I know three families who have left the school recently because of the lack of care. I just met another family that is at my child's new school who I never spoke with until we met at the new school. This parent had the same concerns so I know that it was the school. It's a shame because this really was a great place but it is no longer a safe environment for children unless they make some major changes. Also, just because your child may like it there, doesn't mean it's a good place for them. I think my child liked it because there was no supervision so they can do whatever they want. Why two stars? I do believe that the teachers mean well, and I know that if the owners were really to listen to the parents, especially all of the ones who left, they would see why parents used to like it and why they no longer like it. It's time for the owners to have a deeper commitment as they once did to the business. Maybe two locations is just too much. read more

We are big fans of Pasitos. My two kids started 3 months ago after moving to San Jose from out of State and the staff helped them transition incredibly smoothly. They were loving and creative as my kids 'mourned' their old friendships from back home. For example, one day my daughter had a rough wake up from naptime so the teacher had her write a letter to me (she can't write but likes to pretend!). After her letter was done, she was was totally happy to jump back into activities with her friends. I love the outside play area with a little garden that the kids help maintain and learn from (as well as eat from) and the large space for many activities such as water play, art table and little trikes. They love going to school and are always begging to stay longer when I pick them up ... always a sign that a preschool is doing exactly what it should be doing ... caring for kids in fun, caring, creative way. read more

My son loves this school as do I. He gets so excited when I tell him that tomorrow is a school day. At night, he tells me about his day and his friends at school. The teachers are friendly, check in regularly, and send regular updates through email so we always know what is going on. My son is learning Spanish faster than I am, a great problem to have. Yesterday I couldn't remember the Spanish word for blueberry so I looked at my 2 year old, asked him, and he told me instantly. How cool is that? Besides the friendly staff, excellent education, and friendly parents of other students, the over all philosophy is excellent at Pasitos. They only serve organic food. They don't wear shoes inside. They play and they learn at the same time. They grow vegetables and flowers. They sing. And my son loves it all. When I arrive to get my son he is always engaged.
