The buffet had a modest selection but it was decent but not mind-blowing. The naan was so popular that it always seems to run out during lunchtime, but otherwise the naan was delicious and warm. My husband & I lived in Northern CA & there was this authentic Indian place in the town we lived in. It was our introduction to Indian food. Now every place we go, that's our marker. We've been on the lookout for a similar place in Wichita and we finally found it!! My husband had the coconut curry & I had the chicken tikka Marsala, our kids had a basmati rice & plain naan, garlic naan & paneer naan. The waiter was helpful & kind when we had to have the order to go because our son wasn't feeling well. After eating this, they probably aren't charging enough it was THAT good. Great flavor, awful everything else. The restaurant is Smokey and you can't breathe well. I've never been able to successfully order to-go. I had ordered through Door Dash for so there was a deal to buy one butter chicken entree, get one free. After purchasing that, another entree, side of extra rice, and a small soup, it was around $70, and I was picking it up so there were no delivery charges. The lady who works the register is super helpful if you are unsure of what you would like to order or if you haven't had Indian before. A super great spot to grab lunch or takeout. First of all, let me say that I was strongly tempted to rate this place one star but ultimately decided on two. The second star was for the pleasant server and the fact that the food didn't actually taste bad. I just left wondering if the lunch buffet cooks have ever actually eaten any Indian food before. 1. The baingan bharta on the buffet tasted very good and would've been just fine had I been wanting French onion soup because that's what it tasted like. The only difference was that the bread and cheese on top was replaced by chunks of roasted eggplant. 2. The navrattan korma also tasted good. It was the closest thing I've had in 25 years to the creamy vegetable soup I used to get from the deli of the small vegetarian grocery store across the street from the men's dorm during my freshman year of college. The only noticeable difference was that here there was a noticeable touch of black pepper to season it. Too bad there were no Indian seasonings that I could taste in it. 3. The dessert was the most disappointing--the biggest disappointment being that it looked so bad I didn't even want to try it. I really enjoy gulab jamun and almost never pass it by whenever I go to an Indian buffet. Today's buffet featured gulab jamun syrup minus the gulab jamun. The ambience is a little out dated. This is more of a casual sit down dinner. Nothing too fancy. But the food was delicious. The lamb madras is a sweet curry with tender pieces of lamb. The chicken Tikki marsala was a bit more savory. This really all paired well with the light basmati rice. We also had garlic naan and butter naan. Which both were light and crispy, and great for dipping into the curries we had. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars bc there was maybe 5 pieces of meat in each bowl. The samosas were actually pretty good, though the portion was small for the price. The naan seemed to be made with the sort of minced garlic you get out of a jar. The chicken was okay, nothing special, but it was $15 and included exactly 9 bites of chicken. WTF?! Apparently mediocre Indian food is a luxury item here. Lunch buffet was really good. There are many different selections of dishes. The ones that have meat are typically dark meat chicken. There's one lamb dish that is quite enjoyable as well. However there are some pieces that are tough and dry. My favorite is the Chicken Tikka Marsala with rice or naan. A dish that I wish was on the line is a saag dish. The lunch buffet is good to bring friends who don't quite know what to order or just in general have never tried Indian cuisine before. There is a wide variety to choose from. For what Wichita has to offer in the Indian cuisine realm, this is by far my favorite. Service is good and attentive. Stop 2 of 3 of our Wichita food tour. I know... sounds SUPER exciting (insert sarcasm) none the less, we are still going to rate everywhere we go. Got here right as they opened for the evening, and were greeted warmly. Literally the first patrons, and they joked and said "you can have a booth, but it's a bit of a wait" cute ;). Sat down and had garlic butter naan within 5 minutes. I had hot chai tea, it addicting. I had several glasses and the wonderful waitress (she had blonde, blue, and pink hair) brought me one to go when she brought the check. Nice touch. Our dinner was tikka masala, dal, basmati, fried paneer, and naan. Every single thing was cooked to perfection. They asked what level of spicy, and it came out spicy and steaming. Delish! There was a little kid about 5 yrs old reading the menu upside down at the table next to mine. First of all, you can't compare Indian food to Indian food. Every chef has their own regional flair, and their own idea of what constitutes home cooking and American taste, for which these dishes are made. I ordered the lamb curry, add peas (thank you!) and it was wonderful. The sauce was light and savory like a stew, and perfectly spiced, no cayenne pepper up my nose. Ideal for wiping up with garlic naan (naan is another Americanisation, sorry to break it to you). Served on a Corelle plate with no pretension. If you're complaining about the portions, you eat way too much. I was equally surprised by the professionalism of the server and the way the rough-chopped tomatoes melted in my mouth. I have visited this place when me and my friends went on a road trip from Dallas to Kansas. The restaurant has pretty decent in Indian food. The ambience is very neatly maintained. The staffs were very kind . We went near the closing time for the lunch buffet but the staff were happy to serve with fresh naan and Curries. The channa masala and the Navarata Kurma were very good and some of their other Curries were good but we could still smell the raw masala flavor. The rice and other biriyanis were average. Tandoori Chicken was served in a sauce- reminded me of BBQ Chicken- btw the skewer hole was missing- most likely no tandoori oven. Garlic naan was decent. I was one of two guests in the restaurant. The scents of food cooking was nice. The waitress seemed stressed and the position was too difficult for her to do well. With the very small amount of people in the shop I would think service would be better. The Naan was soggy and under baked.
