We have been going to Passport Depot for years now, since they were located on Haight St. They now have a beautiful new location in Union Square. Let's be honest we never keep track of when our passport expires. Then when you suddenly book a last minute trip, you notice you're passport has expired and you're franticly trying to see how you can get it renewed before your trip. Michael and Christine take all the stress of getting an appointment and filling out paperwork for you. They expedite and streamline the renewal process for you, saving you time and stress. When you're handing over your passport to an agency, you want to make sure that they are professional, trustworthy, reliable and that everything will be handled with care and on time. They also can help you with travel Visa's and can answer any questions you may have. When I was renewing an expire passport for my mom recently, I also noticed that they have a passport card available now that works as a secondary ID, or for domestic travel if you don't have a real ID. Working with them for our passport renewals has given us peace of mind that everything will be handled properly for us in time. Great customer service. Would highly recommend. read more

Great service and very efficient. Would definitely recommend and go back. Thank you Passport Depot.

I began planning a last-minute trip at the end of March and reached out to Passport Depot for assistance. I had never had a passport. From the very beginning, they guided me through each step of the process and even scheduled my appointment at the post office. This service is legitimate (reviews are accurate!!). Their instructions were clear and detailed, which made the entire experience stress-free. I received my passport today, just in time for my trip on Thursday. Definitely worth the cost and highly recommended for anyone needing a passport on short notice. read more

Needed a passport ASAP for my first international trip. Passport Depot got the job done! I waited until the absolute last minute and did the two week expedited service. I never had a passport before so I needed more than just a renewal. Passport Depot was incredible at making sure I had all the right documents, setting up appointments with the Postal Service, and got me my passport a week earlier than expected. Huge lift off my shoulders, the team was nice and professional. I highly recommend using Passport Depot! read more

Michael was incredibly helpful throughout this process. My passport expired two months prior and I had to travel abroad within 10 days. He spelled out how the timeline would work, and not only was he correct, but I was able to pick it up a day early. Just got back yesterday and would not have been able to do it without him and his lovely wife. Highly recommended - thank you! read more

This place is an absolute racket. My husband accidentally went there because he had an appointment at the US passport agency. Instead of notifying him of his mistake, they charged nearly $1000 in services and made him go to the post office and back again, saying he'd have to come back at the end of the week to get his passport. This place is a scam and full of dishonest people! They are NOT the official US passport agency. When someone comes in saying, "I have an appointment for my Urgent passport service," they should be telling them, "Oh, you mean at the SF Passport Agency at 450 Golden Gate Ave." Not fleecing them by overcharging and over complicating a process that is supposed to only cost $60 and be completed same day directly at the US Passport Agency. The travel.gov website has everything you need to know to make an urgent appointment for passport services (if you're traveling in less than two weeks). These slime ball excuses for humans at the Passport Depot should be telling people about the official SF passport agency and how to actually get a passport under the Urgent program. Not charging ridiculous fees and making them go to the central post office and back, when that's not actually necessary. I wonder how many other unsuspecting people they tricked into thinking that they were the official passport agency and that their fees were normal. I'm absolutely disgusted by this organization. read more

Customer service was awful. Called for information about a passport I sent in that was delayed, hoping they could guide me or give me some advice on what to do but instead said they could not help then hung up on me. I've used passport services in the past for my work but would never use them based on my experience. read more

Needed a renewal on a somewhat constrained timeline since I've also been using my passport as my Real ID/for domestic travel in addition to its normal function, and I was not about to go back to the DMV for a new license. I selected the 5-7 expedited option just for additional peace of mind. Dropped materials off on Friday knowing they wouldn't go in until Monday. My renewal was processed and approved in 24 hours (approved Tuesday, picked up by Passport Depot Wednesday) and my passport was delivered back to my house on Thursday. I also got a passport card this time around because it seems like a good idea in 2025 - that was delivered a few days later by mail since it's dispatched from a different office. I was happy to wait the full estimated timeline but was so pleased I had my passport back even earlier than the earliest estimate. Michael was friendly and helpful and while it's totally possible to navigate the renewal process on your own, which I did last time, it was so nice to have someone backstopping me to double check everything and move things along. Expediting is a decent chunk of money but it was totally worth it to avoid the weeks-long wait and the stress that can come with it. I can't recommend Passport Depot highly enough. read more

Needed my passport super quick (within a week). Had put the old one thru the washer. After a Quackenbush conversation by phone with Passport Deposit, I sent my paperwork in (fullt complete) on Thursday and got the new one back the next Wednesday. The service was outstanding, and way exceeded my expectations!! I paid $99 by choosing the 8 week turnaround service, to renew my passport. But to my surprise, I received a FedEx with my beautiful new passport, in JUST 4 DAYS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE GREAT SERVICE! read more

Fantastic service! Needed some assistance securing a visa to China for an upcoming visit but too time constrained to drive to the city to do it myself. Michael from Passport Depot guided me through how to fill out the visa application (not necessarily straight forward), what documentation I needed (again, I wouldn't have guessed correctly in some cases) and where *exactly* I needed to sign on the visa application (I actually signed on the wrong line initially). HIGHLY recommend! read more

Mr. Michael and the Passport Depot team were incredibly professional and efficient. My husband and I were working with a less-than-ideal timeline and reached out to a few agencies offering expedited passport services. With Passport Depot, I was able to speak with a real person who provided expert guidance. Additionally, the Passport Depot website is very straightforward and user-friendly. My husband and I were able to obtain our passports in the necessary timeline and are so grateful to the Passport Depot team! Excellent experience, amazing customer service. read more

5 days before my flight I was horrified to find that my passport was expired. After failing to find any appointments for rush service (even with private services like rushmhpassport), I was told by a friend to contact Michael at Passport Depot. Michael was so helpful throughout the entire process, making sure I had all the necessary documents correctly filled out. He guaranteed I would be mailed my new passport the day before my flight, and when that day came, I got it! Words can't express the relief I'm feeling right now, and it's all thanks to this service. Thank you so much for saving my trip! read more

I lost my passport and didn't realize it until a week before my planned trip. My son, sister, and a friend used a different service and only one had a decent experience. I used Passport Depot and am totally impressed and pleased with their quick responses and follow up. Overnighted my package to them on a Monday and received the passport on Saturday (The San Francisco passport Office was closed on Thursday or I feel confident I would have had it by Friday.) Highly Recommend but sincerely hope you don't have a similar experience. read more

Forget SF passport agency, online expeditors, Embassy, or calling the senator. Michael at Passport Depot is the best there is. We got my 2-year-old son a new passport for an urgent international trip (the trip was about 7 days from time of contacting Michael), and we got the passport in 3 days after submitting our packet to Michael. There was a little legwork for a new passport. You must go to USPS Walk-in at 1300 Evans and line up at 5:30AM. Yes, we were there with our son and we were second in line; sometimes they shut down the walk-in line, as they did when we were there. It was shut down at 6:45AM. Anyway, we got it done. Michael guided us regarding lining up at USPS and his advice was sound. After everything is signed and sealed, Michael will take care of it and you will get your passport in the requested time if you pay the fee. It is a hefty fee. 100% worth it. I could have envisioned paying more to him. He is a miracle worker. Our trip is saved. 5 stars. read more

I paid for 3 sets of photos and they all were declined. Took many myself, all declined. Finally I did a live chat and they went back and used the first pics taken. I started process on Feb 24th and just received the pkg from Gov plus. 3 months!!! Now I have to mail in and wait for my new passport. Another wait!! This is a rip off! I have always renewed it myself with NO problems. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Amazing family ran company. Just like a silly goose I bought tickets to go to Spain and Portugal without first looking to see if my passport was valid.. oops.. then I came in and they fixed me right up. They are able to turn around the passport before my trip happened. They take your photo and make you look as good as possible for a passport photo (Beauty shots) they have been doing this for 20+ years and are basically super efficient and extra friendly and the best people in San Francisco and possibly the entire country!!! Also I don't have my passport to include a photo so I just took a random picture of a passport from the Internet to include in my review just so it looks better. read more

It was such a JOY working with Michael. I needed an expedited China visa for a colleague and Michael was patient and clear in his explanation of the process (via email and phone), thorough in checking the application, and very importantly, we received the visa in the agreed upon window. He can even help with the picture process, although we were able to take care of that digitally. This saved us the angst of going directly to the Chinese consulate, with the reassurance that an expert set of eyes checked the application. He even reached out to us directly once the documents were ready for pick-up (he also offers overnight shipping for a fee if you can't make it back out). At the time of writing this review, we were able to pay all fees via credit card. He's also bookmarked for me if anyone ever needs a last minute passport renewal, he facilitates those too! read more

Ten days prior to my trip to Mexico I discovered my passport had expired. Naturally, I panicked, then went to the inter-web only to read all about passports, even expedited ones, taking 5-11 months to get renewed. Desperately, I continue looking and land upon Passport Depot. Mind you, it's Saturday evening but I call their number anyway. Sure enough, a man named Michael answered - then patiently listened to my 'passport has expired data-dump. Ultimately, he took control of the conversation and assured me that he could produce a new passport and do so days before my departure so long as I do what he advises (get two photos, complete the DS 82 application, FED EX same to their San Fransisco office). Six business days later, I'm extremely happy to report that I received my new passport - just like Michael said I would. Michael was kind, reassuring, and efficient - I'm glad I ultimately chose to place my trust in him. I think Passport Depot rocks! Harold S. Madison, WI read more

I urgently needed to get my passport renewed for a work trip, and passport depot made the process so easy. They were very clear, fast, and nice to work with. Although the expediter fee can be pretty costly I think it is worth it if you urgently need the renewal. I do not have the time or energy to be dealing with the SF passport agency or calling a senator! It was such a stress free process to get it renewed by them. read more

I send many packages to my family on the east coast and they always arrive intact. I receive messages from Michael at Passport Depot telling me when they were sent and when they arrived. Great service by the owners of Passport Depot with pictures for the passport photo done up nicely by his wife which made me look much younger - just wish I could always look like that all the time. Found people taking about them on Reddit. There were able to get us a renewed passport in a week, such lifesavers!

Michael was amazing. He is as advertised. His prices are worth the service he provides.

Our family is able to travel this summer due to Passport Depot! They were clear, helpful, and efficient. They also were patient in explaining the process and answering our questions. Shoutout to Berkeley Post Office for their kind help, also, in the middle step! I almost cried tears of joy and relief when I picked up my children's passports four days before our departure. Thank you! read more

They can really do what they say they can! I had my passport in 3 days. In this post-Covid world, where everyone's trying to make up for lost travel opportunities, that's no easy feat. I was skeptical, and this funky shop doesn't look like much, but the people are lovely, they care, and they feel your pain, at having to be somewhere IMMEDIATELY without your passport in order. They work in tandem with the post office, so make sure you have your birth certificate, in case the PO asks for it. I almost wanted to send them flowers, afterwords! read more

I've been looking to have a new passport and with Covid, no expedite services were available except one-Passport Depot and Michael. Michael patiently stepped through the process and offered great advice on the phone. We scheduled a meeting and everything went according to plan with even better results-my passport came in and was delivered early. Michael is pleasant to deal with and I can't thank him enough for his courtesy and reassuring manner. If you're in a crunch and need fast results, I thoroughly recommend him. read more

I called Passport Depot to see if they could help with a slow passport renewal that was already in progress. Michael laid out what all my options were, and what the likelihood of them working was. I really appreciate how honest he was about the options, and didn't just lie to try to get us to pay. Ultimately, we didn't go with Passport Depot since our situation was too difficult, but I definitely wish we had went with them weeks ago. read more

I highly recommend them. I had to travel internationally and found out my passport had already expired with five days to go. I first reached out to someone else who was promoting renewals in 3-5 days, but after collecting my information and payment told me that they couldn't do it in time. Then I talked to Michael who assured me that he could still get my passport renewed in slightly over four days, including shipping. I FedExed everything to him Monday night and got my passport Friday morning at 7:30am; my flight was at 11am on Friday. He was very responsive my questions about the updates along the way and provided me with some options just in case there was a delay of a day or so. Many thanks to this team! read more

When I realized there were only 2 months left on my passport after our planned trip, I panicked. It was too late to go through the passport agency, and the referral on the government site looked sketchy. They didn't answer the phone and the website was unwieldy.
