We are traveling in less than 30 days and this office came up when we google passport agency. Little did we know what we were getting into. As I made it to my appointment, my son and I waited 30 minutes since we arrived early. Here comes this lady walking in and stating that she was in the bathroom. This lady never came into the office the whole time I was sitting there and the key to the restroom was still hanging in the office. They took her first I've Rome because she said she had a 12:30 appointment. Mine was at 1:00pm. That was a thumbs down in customer service. Long story short, to avoid paying high fees, it is best to go to 450 Golden Gate Ave in the federal building to process your passport. You'll have to wait 14 days before your travel date and make sure to have your itinerary booked. They can expedite your passport for $60 versus $360 in which we paid through this third party office! We are completely shocked but wanted to make sure we get it all done before we leave for our trip but it is what it is. Be aware!!! read more

After calling all other Express Passport Offices, I was desperate to get help. After an extensive Google search and reading reviews, I came across this business. I called them and they told me that we did not have to drive far away like doing a 3 hour drive to Los Angeles, because everything is done online. Granted, it was much more expensive than the regular route, but I needed a passport for my son in like 7 business days. I told them the situation after paying online and they were more than happy to help me out. They walked me through the application process and followed up with phone calls to ensure we were on the righ track. We were able to get my son's passport in about 5 business days. Thank you so much!! My boy got a passport on time. I chose the most expensive one so, paid a little more than $800 after tax (It was a hard decision) but It was worth it. I sent it on Monday and got it on Friday as they promised. He booked a commercial job and I had to do it last minute. I am very satisfied with their service. There were a little of hiccups since it was minor passport which means I had to validate doc before sending them. It was almost impossible to find the place to take " Walk in" since pandemic. However, i did it with their help. I'd like to thank you for everyone who helped me the process but only remember Jose, Pedro, Alex ....... My review is mixed: 5 stars for Ulises, but 3 stars for the business. Let me explain. Like everybody else who uses this service, my story starts with a dumb mistake. In my case, nine days before our flight to Paris I realized that I'd forgotten to renew my passport back in September. When I googled "passport renewal San Francisco" I landed on this page: https://www.thepassportoffice.com/application.php?svc=Passport%20Renewal Ten years ago (due to theft), I'd had to spend much of two days at the ACTUAL passport office, and so I was pleased to discover that I could get my passport renewed at short notice without having to go to the City. As you can see from the photo, the intro page looks very official with the backdrop of the Capitol building. The request for travel data is reassuring. Once you fill out the form, the next page that pops up presents links for all the materials you need to download and FedEx off to the office. It all looks very official! Shortly thereafter, I called the 800 number on the form and reached Ulises. He straightened out a problem with my credit card, and even gave me his direct phone number. I had to call him back twice as I filled out the forms, and at a couple of points he told me that I could ignore certain requests. For the next 18 hours, I believed that I was dealing with the actual, federal passport office. I sent off the materials to "The Passport Office," and Ulises called me at 9:01 a.m. the next day to tell me that he'd received them. His next statement shocked me: "You didn't include the money order to the Department of State for $170." He sounded puzzled. "But I've already paid you with my credit card!" I replied. "That's just OUR fee," Ulises informed me. It was at that moment that I realized that I was dealing with a private company, and not the U.S. Passport office. My heart sank. What to do? There wasn't time for me to get the money to San Francisco before the 10:00 a.m. cutoff. "I'll tell you what I'll do," Ulises offered. "I'll cover your fee, and you can bring me cash when you come to pick up your passport in person." And that's exactly what took place. However, I spent the day on tenterhooks, because I checked out the name of the company that had taken my $179 and they have an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau, and uniform 1-star ratings from customers complaining that they couldn't get their money back once they discovered that they were paying for services that they could do for themselves. But then I relaxed at bit when I discovered that Ulises himself had rave reviews on Google +. So, I have mixed feelings. One of the recent Yelpers wrote: "I really feel [Ulises] is a gem. He could work anywhere he has a stellar personality and is very professional. " I totally agree! On the other hand, the cost of my passport skyrocketed to $179 + $34 for shipping to the firm + $12 for passport photo to another $170 for the State Department plus $5 for Ulises' money order. (Furthermore, $30 of the $179 was for FedEx fees that they never had to spend.) So, while I have now joined the ranks of "fans of Ulises," I am NOT a fan of the company. Yes, I am now able to fly to Paris on Tuesday -- hurrah and thanks! But did I really need to spend $400 for a new passport? read more

I completed the laborious instructions on line as requested. I spoke to an extremely rude, condescending, and unprofessional man who reviewed my paperwork and confirmed the address for FedEx on April 24th. FedEx returns the package addressed to the correct address refused, and returns it on May 4th. I didn't get my passport for an international business trip that I had to cancel, because of the lack of follow up, the lack of professionalism, and the lack of communication, provided by this unprofessional company. Whoever answered your phones on the afternoon of April 24th needs to be trained some serious customer service skills and needs to be kinder and more patient with people. Because of your refusal of my package and even though I followed your directions and spoke with some one on the phone, my business trip was cancelled and my passport wasn't renewed. I called back and spoke to a nice guy Ernest in Florida who gave me his name and his email address. He also refunded me my $217.00 from my American Express card and seemed kind of legitimately concerned, even though the person on April 24th didn't. I have read some other reviews of this company, and they are pretty consistent with my experience. When dealing with the passport office is challenging enough, then you use a service like this, and you are treated so poorly by the customer service. They don't return your call, they don't respond to emails, they just want your money, and they want to take advantage of people without the services. I have been trying to contact them by phone and by email and I cannot get any response from them whatsoever. I have had to reschedule an international business trip, due to their refusal of my package following their directions. After telling them my package had been refused, I spoke with a nice gentleman named Ernest who genuinely wanted to help me. I bit the bullet again, and resent my paperwork to the Houston location at another $50 out of pocket for FedEx. The package unfortunately wasn't picked up until later in the day. Now, there was another problem, because my passport had water damage, I had to send another letter which they provided me, explaining the situation. Department of State wanted only the official letter and not a scan, again another $45 for one page to Houston the next morning. I don't hear anything the entire day, until I get an e mail from the State Department, my passport has been seized and confiscated. I tried to call the service and wasn't able to get in touch with anyone. I called and left a message and sent multiple emails again. At the end of the day, Riley called me from the Florida office and said these things happen sometime. I need to do the process all over again and make an in person appointment at the LA office, and hand carry the application to the office in Glendale, and reviewed the paperwork I would need to bring. After driving two hours, I get to the office and meet Raul who did help me out with the application. Raul was helpful and kind to help me complete the application electronically, reviewed all of the paperwork, and said I would need to go to the Glendale Passport Office. After waiting in line for 2.5 hours, I met with the USPS representative who asked if I was using an agency. I said I was and she would need another letter of authorization. I said my letter of authorization is being held by the State Department in Texas, and the LA Office said I didn't need one. The USPS woman was very helpful, and said I could go back to the agency, get the letter of authorization, and come back and stand in line. Or, I could just mail the completed paperwork with the new application to the State Department. Therefore, for another $31 to save myself another 5 hours in traffic, I had the USPS lady sent it out for me. Now, at this point I should hopefully get my passport paperwork in 10-14 days, and we will see what happens... I read a lot of the other reviews for this company, and think I might have experienced some bad luck and things just got worse. I should have trusted my instincts, and should have done it myself. I started the process about three weeks ago, had to cancel my international business trip, and spent too much time and about $450 on something, that should have taken 2 weeks and $150! After having hellacious luck with this company and the State Department, I have revised this review because of follow up and support. Many of the reviews here mention Ulises by name, as one of the team members, who has been very kind and supportive and help. All I can say is I will reiterate that Ulises is awesome. Apparently, my passport is ready in Houston office for pick up. I called and spoke with a nice lady, who took my information and said she would pass it along to Ulises. I was about to pay $453 for something I could just pay 195 at the passport office. Such a darn joke! The guy told me I may not get approved and blah blah blah....it took me 15 minutes the next morning at the federal building. I also got my passport the next day vs with this company it would have been 4 days. I canceled and did get my money back BUT there was a $25 cancellation fee that was only mentioned AFTER I slid my card lol. SUPER SUSPECT!!! If you need your passport in a hurry, this is the place to go! I found out I was going on a last minute vacation to Mexico and needed my passport in less than 3 weeks. Since the USPS expediting time was 2-4 weeks I didn't want to risk it and and decided to go through The Passport Office instead. I called and made an appt, which I definitely recommend doing (in my case, they were not great about answering the phone but if you keep calling you will get through). My appt was at 7am when they open and there were already people coming in after me. They are located on the third floor of the Flood Building on Market street. Their entrance is right next to Anthropologie. Super convenient if you take Powell Street Bart. If you drive, there's cheap parking very close at the Ellis O'Farrell Garage. It costs $10 extra to get your passport photos taken here, but it's worth it for the convenience. You have to come in with a check for $170 made to the US Dept of State, and then you can pay the additional passport office fee by credit card while you are at your appt. The fee will vary depending on how fast you need your passport. You fill out your application at the office, then they will put all your documents together and send you over to the Post Office to get it sealed. Minus one star for this, because when I made my appt over the phone the person I talked to told me it was walking distance to the post office... They ended up sending me about 5 miles away all the way to the post office near Hunters Point. Also, the post office doesn't take appointments so you will probably waste a good amount of time waiting here for your name to get called. Try to go in the morning if possible, I ended up waiting about 45 minutes. It costs $25 to have this done, and you pay at the post office. After that you have to go back to The Passport Office and drop off your sealed documents. They will send it off for you and call you when it is ready. You can pay $60 to have it shipped or pick it up for free if you live in the area. They gave me an estimated time of about 2 weeks since I picked the cheapest/slowest option, but they literally called me 3 days after my appointment to tell me it was ready for pickup, which was awesome! Overall, yes it's annoying to have to go back and forth to the post office and their office. It took me about 3 hours to get all of this done (plus a second trip to go pick it up). And yes, it is going to be pricier than getting it through the post office alone. I think I paid about $350 total, including photos, the fee for the US Dept of State, and the Sealing fee. It is definitely worth it though for the prompt and friendly service, and the peace of mind that you will get your passport in time! read more

SF office is great, Ulicese (sp?) is awesome. BE CAREFUL YOU ONLY CONTACT THE SF OFFICE. The contacts listed on Yelp are the national contacts (both website and phone) and the national folks were nothing like SF. It was only because of these great Yelps that I kept searching for a direct number to SF. Here are the SF office contacts: http://www.thepassportoffice.com/sanfrancisco-passport-services.php One other thing to be aware of. On both the national & SF website, for what I was doing, it said that you need to show an itinerary. I wasnt ready to buy a ticket because I wasn't sure I would get my PassP back on time. The site tells you that you can make a reservation on the on-line booking sites (Travelocity/etc) but that is not correct. I tried 3 of them and none will make a reservation w/o paying for it. It will allow you to print an itinerary, but not with your name on it- so that doesnt work. In order to have your name on it, you must pay for it. When I told Ulicese about that, he said he could make one for me- but by then I had gotten an old-school travel agency to make me one (which they can do w/o making you pay for it yet). So go with an old-school agency, or have Ulicese do it for you. Other than that- everything went perfectly. I could have skipped all the problems if I had reached SF directly which is why Im providing their link you the Yelpers out there. The national folks would have gotten 0 stars. When I told the national lady that the info on their site wasn't accurate (about using Travelocity) she hung up on me! read more

Ulises and the passport office truly saved our family vacation. 2 days after Christmas our family of 15 was literally in the process of checking in at the airport for a family trip when my husband and I were told by the check-in attendant that our passports had expired. We came into the passport office with everything that we had needed, but at first scheduled no appt. We just knew we had to get to the office. We were greeted by a guy named Ulises. WOW is all I can say. This guy went above & beyond what 99% of employees would normally do in the situation. He helped us even though we didn't really have all the stuff we needed at first. You can tell he is a really great person, heart of gold for sure. I'm revising my rating. Got a very nice phone call from Paul who was very helpful and willing to listen to my complaints. For anyone else using this service - they send you an email with a link to the State Department online Passport application site. It doesn't actually submit your application online. When you get done filling in the online application, it will create a PDF document which you then download, print, and sign. You send this and other documents to The Passport Office by Fedex. I'm waiting now to get my new passport. I will update this review once that's done. read more

I once took passport pics at ups costing me $17 and the pic was denied because it wasn't good. Wtf. So if you need a passport pic, I highly recommend to have them take one for you. When you speak to the CSR's they give you different answers as to when the passport was actually submitted. I had a question that could not be answered via the usual automatic reply from the government website or phone number. My emails were also automated replies without any way to actually get to a resolution of my simple problem. I ended up calling ThePassportOffice.com so that they could represent me as I could not get an appointment to see someone or ask someone about my specific issue. Over the phone, someone from New York answered my call, was able to explain to me that I could seek a resolution by bringing all of my information and asking the attendant for a "look up" something I should be prepared to pay extra for. She then told me the nearest office that would see me without (failing at setting) an appointment. Although it was an hour away in Yuba City, it was well worth the time and effort that I eventually invested as the office was able to take care of me and also waived my "look up" fee based on the documentation that I had on hand. So I wanted to thank that person specifically and The Passport Office .com as well for helping with my long drawn out problem that they were able to direct me and simplify my woes into one very uncomplicated visit to the county clerk's office. Three months of failing to renew a passport ended up with one phone call to the right person and three hours total in Yuba City. Thank you so much.
