TLDR: Extremely poor service, take your photo/mail business elsewhere. Probably the worst service I've ever received in San Francisco. I never thought having a couple of documents printed and a mug shipped home to my mom could be such an unenjoyable experience. The gentleman at the desk seemed appalled at the idea that someone coming to a mail shop might have questions. If you're interested in being told "you have no idea what you're doing", this is the place for you! The owners of this place have always been kind and considerate. I have been coming here for many, many years.

The prices are marked up and it definitely costs more than going to a regular USPS/FEDEX post office. However, it's close by and convenient for me. The main draw though is that I've always had pleasant experiences. The owner/workers are really friendly and nice and know most people in the neighborhood. I'm not sure why some comments have experienced bad customer service but I've never had a bad experience. They are upfront about what services would cost the least. Very unprofessional. I use this mail service all the time. They've lost a package of mine before so I take a photo of the packages when I drop them off. Today I was told do not take photos we will not give you permission. I'm just trying to keep file of my packages. If you have nothing to hide why be so defensive. Keep an eye out. read more

The gentleman that runs this shop is extremely unprofessional and downright rude. I have dropped packages off here on multiple occasions since I work close by - the woman is always pleasant and helpful, but I avoid going in here if the man is working because he is so unpleasant and has even mistaken me for their neighbor on more than one occasion - and we look nothing alike, aside from race (offensive). He refuses to to take pre-labeled packages and charges twice as much for passport processing than anywhere else. They also refuse to provide a receipt of any kind, so if something gets lost - too bad. I go way out of my way to mail small packages from another shop with much better customer service. I sent a package from Oakland FedEx it was $63 I sent the same exact package from a FedEx office in San Francisco it was $100, I tried to send the same exact package again from this place and they were charging $140. When I moved to San Francisco and was dealing with rental applications, job applications, internet access, rent checks and more... Express held my hand and walked me through everything When I wasn't hunting down wireless cafes, I would camp out at Express' computer and hurriedly respond to craigslist ads and print out random applications. Though not cheap, about a dollar per fax, per print-out and I believe they even charge for internet access, Express was always efficient and friendly. It didn't hurt that they were close too. In my "panicking, the end of the world is quicking approaching, can't you feel it?, come on, I need this NOW!" times - Express was nothing, but patient. And everything ALWAYS turned out OK. If I was back in college - Express would be the worried, not impressed, but kind folks that would hold back my hair and grab me a water, while my head rested heavily on the side of a toilet bowl; a half finished sangria filled nalgene bottle on the floor. (I've grown up alot since then!) Gross, I know, but the point is that Express is that reliable and they've definitely been there with me through the not so pretty moments. read more

I came here to take a Passport photo a couple of years ago. The guy working there then asked me how soon I was traveling. He then convinced me the it would take me forever to get my Passport the normal way and convinced me to rush my Passport through him because I probably wouldn't get my Passport in time. It's stupid because I still had to go to the Post Office to take care of everything anyway, and when I got to the post office they actually laughed at me and told me this place scammed me out of $100+ and similar small businesses have a tendency to do this as well. Well, great, thanks for that. Also this used to be my UPS pick up location. I probably came in here 10 times in one month and every single time I came in the guy that owns this place treated me like I was such a hassle and never seemed to recognize me. And when I would show him the UPS emails I got showing that my items had been delivered he'd always tell me "no your emails are wrong" then I'd come back again two days later and my stuff would have been shipped back to sender because he said it took me too long to pick it up. Also came here recently because I don't have a printer and I usually try to print anything I may need at work, but this was urgent so I came here. 50cents PER PAGE. PLUS a $1 service fee. Nothing special. I came here to print out some tickets for a concert I was going to. Apparently some shows nowadays require you to have a printed ticket even though they can easily scan it right off your phone. I digress. The cashier was super nice, but pretty slow. The price was kinda weird though... 2 dollars to use the computer? So it ended up being like 6 dollars to print out three things. Lesson learned, print my stuff at home. read more

I have been using the packing and shipping services at this location for two years now. Michael provides custom packaging services which is really helpful for shipping artwork, especially framed work (you need to custom cut cardboard & styrofoam to buffer the corners, as well as build custom-sized boxes). The cost starts at $25 for a 16 x 20 (more if there's glass), which seems pretty reasonable given all the labor involved. One time I didn't receive my receipt and he stayed on the phone with me until the email appeared in my inbox. I'm surprised by all the reviews describing him as someone who is rude or yells because I've never seen him do that in all the times I've gone in to ship something or purchase packing materials. read more

Michael at Express Photo & Mail saved my vacation. On the day before I was due to leave for the UK and Spain, I realized my passport had expired. I did a quick search on Google for express passport services and found Express Photo and Mail. Michael said if I could get my passport to him by 7pm he would have it back to me the next day between 4:30pm and 5pm. Since my flight was leaving at 5pm, this wasn't early enough to make my flight but I knew I would not get it any faster anywhere else. I tried to rebook my flight for the next day but the cost to do so had escalated to an additional $2,200!!! I'd already spent $900 on the original ticket and rescheduling was not going to work for my budget. I brought Michael/Express Photo my passport that afternoon and asked for a quicker turnaround, if at all possible. Although he could not guarantee how fast the government would turn it around, he promised to do what he could to get it earlier - if only an hour or so would help. The next day he called me before noon to say there was a chance he could get my passport by 3pm. He recommended that I should meet him at the passport agency to save time. I am not sure how he pulled it off, but at 3pm, his store manager was at the appointed location, with my new passport in hand. After picking it up, I drove to the airport, had two friends meet me to take my car and I checked in for my flight at 3:20pm. Saved. I am back from a wonderful three weeks abroad and wanted to share my extremely positive experience. I cannot thank Michael enough for his help. I really had no other affordable option available to me. I am very VERY grateful to him. read more

What's with the rude attitude maaan? So I came in here yesterday to drop off a UPS package and I guess I just missed the pickup time. The man behind counter was nice to me, so I left feeling fine. I don't do a lot of shipping and don't really know how the pick up times work. So I called today, to ask and confirm when my package would be delivered. Assuming maybe there would be a morning pick up? Whoever answered the phone was so mean and rude to me! The person immediately cut me off and started yelling at me about how I don't know how UPS works. Which, yeah, I don't how the shipping times work... that's why I had politely called to ask! Please understand that when I called I wasn't being rude, I asked nicely and all of sudden the dude just starts yelling at me. WTF??? Really? I'm so confused by this behavior. If I'd known asking a question would offend the employees of this store, I would have never gone there. Should've trusted the other Yelp reviews. Never going back. read more

Now...is my hangover showing on my face, do I look like I spent the last 2 hours in the hell that is Safeway, and should I be putting on some makeup? Long story ending like this....After waiting THREE months, my passport was rejected because of UNACCEPTABLE photo size. I had even measured them myself, and had him re-shoot them because they were wrong size, which pissed him off. He should have told me right away that he only does U.S. photos because he didn't even seem to care that Canada has different photo sizes. IF YOU ARE U.S. CITIZEN. Charged my sons mom $999 for "EXPEDITED" passport fees which had a 4 week turn around. At the end of the day they still have to go through the agency. Its not like they make the passports themselves smh. So why not just go through the agency and pay $60 with a 1-3 day turn around. ONE star because they did refund her back after i told her to so that was a plus. They said for (i think) a 1 week turn around it was $2000 for expedited fee and i believe the guy on the phone said $1500 for 2 weeks. I may be wrong about those prices but i can assure you they charged $999 for (what my sons mom said) a 4 week turnaround. I wouldn't go here. Now I'm not sure if it really cost $999 everywhere else and I'm just over reacting but we just decided to go through the actual passport agency who told us fill out all the forms and they will set a date 2 weeks prior to the trip and the passport will be available the day after that appointment. So good luck to you guys if you want to use 3rd party. Unbelievable. Ill update my rating after i research more places to compare pricing. I was nervous about going to this place after reading some of their reviews, but they were close and I didn't feel like walking far holding a big package. I'd say this place does exactly what they're supposed to do. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I didn't have a bad experience here either. I brought a box with a pre-paid UPS label, but the box wasn't taped. After checking on the web and seeing that UPS would charge $42 for next day Saturday delivery of the package I was mailing, I headed to this place. The gentleman there told me that next day delivery would be "very very expensive". When I asked him to quantify this, he told me the price would be $149 plus another $30 charge I didn't understand. So total charge $179 He told me they charge would be the same whether or not I not I used UPS or FedEx. He said that this was not the price UPS or FedEx charged, but was the price he charged. In his defense, I am elderly and maybe he thought I was senile. I declined his generous offer and headed to the post office two blocks away. I arrived too late for next day delivery, but I was able to send it out for Sunday delivery for $50. If I had arrived earlier I could have gotten Saturday delivery for $38. The bottom line is to use this place if you really want to get ripped off and you're too lazy to walk two blocks. read more

These are the rudest people I have ever met in MY LIFE! When my husband and I went in to use their FedEx service we were met with hostility. My husbands work has a FedEx account so it should have been easy in easy out but that was so not the case. We had completed a FedEx ground slip and handed the box over to the guy. They said they only do FedEx air but we can chance the FedEx guy picking up the package. After asking him to explain why we would chance it (maybe they usually don't have issues ect) he looked at me and said " let me explain to you how this works again." Well my husband did not like the fact that he talked to me that way and let him know that we are locals and his customer service was so f**ing rude he was not sure how he is still open. He proceeded to yell at my husband and told him to take our business elsewhere. We don't expect to get special service but come on do you really have to be a total asshole about being asked a question. On another visit, I had to have a stamp for something that needed to go out that night and that was the only place I knew to get them. They have a frreaking 33% mark up on stamps and once again he was rude as all hell. You would think I learned my lesson the first time...well.. I saw the 2.5 stars average and thought it didn't reflect my experience with the place. i use it mainly as a package reception service since my apt bldg has no way for ups and fedex to leave a pkg if i'm not home. The rate is a modest $3 per pkg. I get a call each time, and they have even stayed open a few minutes late knowing i was coming in for a package pick up. Yep. Nice folks. Nice prices. I went to get a passport over the weekend. I was greated by the friendly and helpful Michael. He expertly explained the payment process (dependent on how quickly you need it) and then showed me how to fill out the application online and made sure I filled it out correctly. I already had my passport photos taken elsewhere (Walgreens), although I could have had them taken there. I also brought every type of ID I might need just in case (SS Card, drivers' license, old expired passport, and even my birth certificate). I only needed my old passport & drivers' license. This process was so much easier than it used to be back in the '80s when I got my last passport made. (thank you Internet!) I've heard that getting a passport can take months, so it's nice knowing that I should have it very soon. read more

The bad reviews are true. I just went here this past weekend to mail a couple of small items to friends and family in Texas. One of the items was boxed and the other still needed to be boxed. He quoted me about $12 per box for five-day UPS service, plus another $4 for a small box. I questioned the price, saying that I thought the USPS priority mail service was less than that for the medium size flat rate (much larger than I needed), which comes with a free box, but he replied that they had changed the price on January 27th (he quoted this exact date, like he knew all about it) to $15. Against my better judgement, I went ahead and shipped, although he wouldn't provide me with tracking information then and said they'd be emailed to me. Surprisingly, I did get tracking information a couple of days later, saying that the packages would arrive on Friday (the packages were dropped off on Sat). I decided to look up the USPS price and time and found that the medium flat rate box is only $10.85 if you print out your own label at home. The guy flat out lied to me, even making up a date to sound like he knew what he was talking about. Oh, and the USPS Priority box would have gotten to TX in two days. Never again. read more

We always takes our pre-labled UPS returns here, Amazon mainly. They hold them safely behind counter, unlike Postal Chase where they get taken because they are sitting by the door in an open bin.
