First time visiting the store: The gentleman who was the owner (I think) was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Sadly, the help not the best. Barely grunted at me when approaching the register and at checkout he rang me up and then asked if I was a subscriber. I said no, and I asked what that was. He said if I pulled books with them I would have received 10% off. Which I would have done! But he asked me AFTER he ran my card. It should be mentioned, the store is very well put together and has great character. They do have a lot of back issues and high end back issues, BUT they are priced well beyond what they should be. Worth a one time trip, but probably only a few times a year beyond that. read more

This place is such a mixed bag. Everything that makes them great is simultaneously one of the things that irks me about the place. - They have a huge backroom, full of tables and chairs and miniature scenery for tabletop, lots of space for CCG tournaments or even people who want to just stop in and play. * Conversely, the back room is typically full of tournaments, or people who just stopped in to play... AND, it's their storage room so boxes and bins everywhere. - Their selection of games and minis is pretty cool, shelves and shelves full of the things gamers like. * Conversely, their selection pretty much seems like it is stocked by what the staff members like and several requests were met with "I don't know anyone who plays that." Prices are a little higher than most local games stores I've been to and the only things that go on sale are things no one wants to buy, but the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

My teens saw this store in the corner of a little strip mall while looking for lunch and a car chemical store. The store is rather large inside and is clearly owned by someone that values comics and anime type items as well as figurines. I am the first to say I am out of touch with this hobby, but my kids were excited. The store was well set up and the comics were truly in great layout and design. It also had a side room that looked initially like a stockroom but opened into a clearance section and large gamers type section. (Reminded me of Dungeons and Dragons). read more

We were lucky to get notice of this rare event and more lucky to have had the chance to stop by (twice in the same day!). We live closer to the davie location and have been there a few times. My boyfriend and I went there 2 weeks ago and I wish I could give zero stars. When I walked in everyone ignored our presence. But the entire time I was in there I could here the man at the register complaining and making fun about past patrons and that everyone is wrong to him because everyone's stupid. ( there was more but I forgot exactly what he said all I know was I felt uncomfortable about how comfortable he felt about slandering people that weren't there. ) he also decided to argue with us at the register as I was paying that we were wrong about a movie THAT HES NEVER SEEN that it couldn't be suspense or a thriller because it involved an alien and in his words aliens aren't real so it doesn't matter what we think he made me feel really degraded. I used to love coming here when I was younger and I recommend this place to people before because I had fond memories of this place but it makes me feel gross now how it's turned out. Bought an Indiana Jones sideshow collectible here. Box was heavily damaged (which I'm surprised they were charging $350 for it) and the nice worker at the shop made me a solid deal for the figurine. I love it! Thanks for being really nice. Idk why there are so many bad reviews. I had such a great experience with the guy at the shop. He was really nice and it was awesome. When my boyfriend showed me this comic book store I thought it would be the usual run of the mill basic Magic playing enthusiast watering hole, boy was I wrong. The store had a large selection of comic books, very impressive figures, plethora of art books, a large variety of Gundam kits and vintage geek merchandise. I was impressed since I live in Georgia, the home of one of the largest collection of nerds and to Dragon con and this store was on par with a few of the stores in Atlanta. Completely unexpected in such a small town. The establishment was also extended, to offer a separate room for card game tournaments, which was nice, it's keeps the areas feeling private by lessening the noise. The prices were moderate, a little pricey but it can't be helped since it is one of the only nerd havens in Florida and most things were imported. The employees were helpful enough, I liked that they let you peacefully wander the store and only offered to help when asked. read more

Basically - you can buy your comics online without having to be abused by the manager, Xavier, and if you're a regular you're a regular of a place where they mock you for liking nerdy stuff and make sure to talk down on anyone who frequents what was once a great shop. If you buy here you haven't taken Xavier own advice which is to shop online, the prices are better - but if you do shop here, just know the minute you leave Xavier and company takes a good amount out of their day to mock you for it. ***also the buying online? Not only did they recommend a few, but had played most of them and gave me honest feedback based upon what I was looking for. Great shop, albeit it has some issues I don't consider big myself that also aren't exactly the shop's fault. For what it's worth, I'm a regular and I tend to go weekly. The prices for trades, hardcovers, omnibuses and Absolutes tend to be sticker price. Due to that, I've managed to both pay amazing prices for some comics and pay less than good prices, but they're a shop and I won't give them trouble for that. When it comes to singles, I also pay sticker price but I've found my pull list has a tendency to be variants, even when the original covers are readily available. Whether that's a conscious choice or not, I don't know but I rarely care. I've gotten into several nice conversations with the workers, with one absolutely negative one that I won't really go into, I just know what to avoid the next time. When it comes to buying trades, I regularly come across an issue that's not really the fault of PPF: they've got volume one, volume three, four, six, etc. Usually the most random of volumes is missing, and that kind of forces you to shop online. On the flip side however, I've found comics for sticker price here that go for insane amounts otherwise. For back issues, they tend to charge a fine enough price, $3-$5 is average for regular issues, with bigger things like Saga of the Swamp Thing being $40 when I bought my copy and better condition ones being $70 or more, for example. They have a nice compact selection of CGC issues, priced on the back however, so you'll have to ask a worker to open the cases to see how much you're paying. They used to host gaming tournaments, DND, cards, whatever, but I think they've had to shift their game area over to storage space for more back issues, which is an issue to card players but to what extent, I can't claim knowledge of. Their figurine selection is varied from what I recall, with a large collection of comic book heroes (obviously), alongside movie figurines, anime/manga figures, and quite a nice selection of Godzilla ones. Parking could be better. Nearly got into a head-on collision by some angry driver in the middle of the very tight parking lot road, but that is most definitely NOT the fault of PPF, just saying something that people should know. All in all, I enjoy the store, its size, its prices, the variety it offers. I've been to several comic book stores in Florida and one in WV, but PPF always takes the cake. Addendum: I have a slight tendency to put things on my pull list months in advance, then buy them online to ensure I get them. This has led to me going into PPF with a packed pull list, only for me to refuse some issues. Thankfully, the workers have been very courteous and understanding, never giving me issues for that. read more

Long time customer. No exaggeration..I spend between $30-$100 WEEKLY at this place on new comics, back issues, arc bundles, toys, collectibles, etc. Walked in today to make a purchase. Went to the drawer that holds the $1 comics (as I always have) and decided to buy some spider-man comics that I have seen sitting in that drawer for MONTHS. They were scattered about the 2 cabinets..not in any particular order. I've skim past them many times on past visits. Get to checkout..and first the employee tells me I took them from a bin that isn't for sale. I explain to him no, I got the from the drawer that I always do. He tells me he won't sell them to me. First you want to accuse me..then won't make the sale when you're wrong. Done deal. You won't get another dime from me. Avoid this place at all costs..they aren't worth your business. read more

While I did not notice the rude staff that others seemed to have had run ins with, I was not asked if there might be anything that I was looking for specifically. I was with a large group that had future comic book loving and gaming children with us, and I did notice what seemed to be an annoyance coming from the worker tending to the boxes in the back of the store. I love coming here to check out their board games with my girlfriend. They have a great selection. In fact, my first board game purchase was made here: A Touch of Evil. The clerk was adamant that you needed at least 3 or 4 people to play, but if you buy the expansion, there are actually solo rules. Uh.. Anyway, great store. This place serves as an oasis in South FL for individuals needing their Geeky fix. Where else can you go to buy Swamp Thing comics, Zombie-themed board games or play a rousing game of Warhammer 40k with large groups of people? I've been coming here off and on since childhood, and it's great to see a niche-focused store stick around in Florida for so long. My girlfriend and I come in frequently to check out their selection of board games. We wish the prices were a bit lower (these are sold at retail prices comparable to Barnes and Noble, but obviously, the selection is a lot better). I loved the shop. Being new to comics and the store the staff was helpful. The store is quite large and has a lot of interesting items. The comic subscription service they have is fantastic allowing you to reserve comics for you to pick up each week/month and giving you a discount if you have 10+ comics you are subscribing to. I was looking for a certain issue and the staff was helpful in finding what i was looking for and when they didnt have it, they were able to get ahold of it another day for me. This place should have zero stars. I went in there recently looking for a comic book. It comes with extras with it. I go up to the counter and they have it behind the counter of course. Puts it on the counter and tells me $15. I told him that that was price gouging right before I left. He told me I need to learn the definition of price gouging in a loud and brash manner. The comic was marked $5.99, went else where I paid $5.84 and not $15+. If you look at the reviews over the years he's had plenty of people that he's treated this way where he just screams at them if they don't like the price as he set. This place deserves zero stars, anything higher is an insult to the rating system. I don't understand how this guy has been in business for so long, but it doesn't look like he'll be in business much longer since he's been doing this for 8+ years on the terrible customer service. Just moved to the area and was excited to visit. On arrival and entry I wasn't greeted, but no big deal. Lots of stuff to see, prices were average/high, they look to be nicely stocked... But what got me... Was when I walked to the register I picked up one of 2 identical vinyl Godzilla figures that were on the counter. I like Godzilla and these looked as if they were for sell... But as I lifted one to check for a price, one of the folks working there snapped at me and said they weren't for sell. With no explanation or apology for confusion. ... I was left feeling miffed and really just disappointed. I get that some people just aren't good with people skills, but it can be a real turn-off when you're about to hand over cash. I genuinely felt unwelcome after that. ...so I ultimately decided to leave without a purchase. ...They have neat stuff, but don't look for pals at this shop. read more

Simply the largest and best collection of comics to peruse in Palm Beach County. There's a variety of other things to buy, like board games, tabletop gaming sets, t-shirts and collectibles. Would be perfect were the staff not living out their geek fantasies; whether arguing the merits of "Deadpool" to my friend's 8 year old son, or telling you their (usually unwelcome) opinion on whatever you happen to try and be purchasing, the attitudes seen to range from 'holier than thou', to bipolar with a hint of sexist. Still, regular staffer Matt seems to keep the ship tight, and it's still better than looking for a comic at a Barnes and noble, where some rude preteen has likely bent, torn, and smudged up the pages. Go and find what you want with as little interaction as possible. Especially avoid tournament nights. read more

Past Present Future is probably the most popular comic book store in West Palm Beach. When we lived in the area a few years ago, it was the only store I knew of in the West Palm area. With a large storefront, Past Present Future is stocked with an acceptable back issue collection and a fair amount of gaming supplies (card games, Warhammer, and the like). They also had several cases of statues, some posters, and tshirts. The staff was generally friendly and asked if we needed assistance while we shopped - a rare occurrence in most comic book stores. read more

In all my years being a self aware dork gamer and having visited such stores all over the country, I have never met a more rude and disinterested staff. First of all, management obviously does not read or care about the plethora of negative reviews all over the internet. These reviews are right on BTW. I think there needs to be an inservice on customer service, a purge of the current staff, or the summoning of a giant portal to suck this place back to the woeful plane it came from. I think it's a better business model to not treat older paying patron with money and willing to spend money in a different manner than annoying little kids who want to talk about the latest yu GI oh cards. Either this or perhaps the encouragement to have the staffs' medications adjusted. I came in holding my infant son with a father-son trip to the gaming store. He was fussy at times, whiny but quiet - in other words I actually needed help. When I asked questions to one member about the specific locations of what I needed, he fanned me away with a general vague point in the general direction. He was not busy, tending to someone else, or otherwise engrossed in some entertaining solitary activity...he simply could not be bothered or give a shit. I obviously could not find what I was looking for bc the place has some organizational algorithm that the staff is guarding secretly. A second employee helped a bit more however in seeing me struggling holding a squirming infant, there was no offer to hold the 100 things I had in my other hand or carry the overpriced larger purchase I obviously was having a hard time also carrying. In summary, I will no longer be coming to this store. In an era when hard cover books, comics, and games are losing to PDFs, video games, MMOs, and other more easily accessible media, it's sad to see so many gamers turned away to eventually rely on electronic alternatives. As an older gamer with a job and income, I will be turning my business to the competition. Unfortunately poor management and rude staff are pushing a dying breed further than the 6 feet under it was already. I've got no idea why people are saying the staff is rude here. I went in for my first time, looking to get into a trading card game, and the staff was super helpful, didn't sell me stuff I don't need, and even threw in some extras on top of what I paid for. Let me know the event schedule, and let me wander after my purchase completely leaving me alone until I had a question, which were all answered without attitude. Great store, happy I found it, and I'll be back for sure. Edit - I've been back 3 times since my initial review, and the same rings true. Probably one of the best atmospheres to go to a comic shop. Vast collections of novels and back issues, with an even bigger selection of board games and card games. I'll admit priced a little bit high but for its location and what you want, it's worth. The staff is more than willing to help if you ask, one of the best to ask for is Sal, great guy.
