We recently got catering from Pasta Brioni for my parents 50th wedding anniversary party of approximately 80 people and I will never go anywhere else!! Maria is such a sweetheart and pleasure to deal with, and both the quality and amount of food we got for the extremely reasonable was uncomparable to anywhere else in the city. The food was SO good, I'm still getting texts and messages from friends and family about it! Even the bread was shockingly fresh and soft! Even the Salads had people impressed! Not only was the quality beyond our expectations ( and we are Italians - we know legit Italian food when we taste it) but the portions were very generous! My husband and I were more than happy to have a fridge full of leftovers after the event! We will be eating pasta for a while now and we couldn't be happier about it! This place was recommended by a friend. He had asked me to look up Shecky's and ask for the Chicken Gigi. Looks like he hasn't been here in sometime since the place is now called Pasta Brioni although they still had the Gigi on the menu. In fact the name was screaming out loud on the menu board which was displayed behind the counter. True to the recommendation I ordered the Gigi and I had a chat with the server behind the counter. He also gave me an additional helping when I told him I had come searching for this place and this particular dish. Anyway, I settled into a small table by the window and took one bite of the chicken and that's all I needed to realize why this dish was on top of their menu for the last 20 years so. The gravy on the chicken was out of this world. The chicken was so tender and tasty OMG. The pasta part of the dish was great as well but nothing extraordinary. This dish was all about the chicken. For a second I felt like the food critic Ego from the movie Ratatouille after he took the first bite of the dish bearing the movie's name. To sum it up, I'll be coming back for more 'Gigi' and will also try their other dishes as well. Highly recommended! read more

Even for the lunch rush, the lineups move quickly to be sure to get you back to work on time. Pasta Brioni is a pretty unknown place and to make matters worse it is located in the same plaza as a Boston Pizza. So I would guess that many people would choose a known place like BP's over a place they have never heard of. I would really suggest that you try Pasta Brioni though because it is pretty great. I had the Carbonera Fettucini and it was really good. Full of flavor and the serving was generous. They also serve you some complimentary bread. The staff is very nice and friendly. The cost is the same as you will find at most places and maybe a buck or two cheaper. This is a place I will come to again and I would suggest you try it as well. read more

Solidly A-OK. Based on reviews, I came to this place for the Chicken Gigi. It was pretty good, but I didn't like the fact that they didn't have a single beer on draft. Also I felt that the service could have been better. We were there on a Saturday at 7pm. There were 3 other tables, and the servers were never around. Poorly lit, with small tv screens around I think this place is having an identity crisis. Is it a pub, family style restaurant, casual restaurant? Arrgh. Someone ordered pasta and salad for a function at work for about 40 people. What we received was laughable. Basically received 4 large inserts ALL with penne and 2 variations of a tomato sauce poured in the middle of each container. Sauce wasn't even mixed in. Salad looked like it was bagged salad. Entire order looked like minimal thought and effort was put into it. People thought the food was extremely underwhelming. GROSSLY overpaid for what we received, especially since we've had many catered lunches including pizza, Greek, Indian, and Chinese. Would definitely NOT recommend. The best Veal Parmigiana in our city, without contest. Maria (owner), cuts her own cutlets for the Parmigiana and makes sauce twice a day. It is a place we go to for Italian food when we are homesick. The calamari is definitely worth it, we ask for red sauce on the side. The buns are crusty and soft on the inside and the house red is a perfect dry Italian. Go now, go lots! read more

I last ate here a couple of years ago, after they had sent out coupons to homes in the Bonnie Doon area. We were really looking forward to a nice time and good food. My wife was served some mouldy bruschetta containing VERY mouldy tomatoes. She had eaten some of it before discovering that. The waitress was left to handle it by herself, as the Manager skulked around in the background. AND I MEAN skulked. (I imagine she was the owner) We were told by the waitress that the manager said we wouldn't have to pay for one of the meals. This worked out very well for them as we had already presented a coupon entitling us to that. Apparently this place is not busy enough, and the fact that the manager did not get involved after something like this happens says a lot. I'm not someone who demands freebies if I'm slighted, or if you can't cook a steak, or serve me burnt food. We didn't give anyone a hard time, we just laughed to ourselves about how crazy and disgusting this night turned out. I don't think we ate anything else. I left with the impression that the place is hurting for business, and they should be. What else is on the menu that should be in the garbage? read more

Service is a little slow but friendly. And while its not the fanciest place I don't care because the food is good. The pasta dishes are so much better and cheaper than the Boston Pizza next door. The gnocchi is delicious and the portion is too big for me to eat in one setting. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for good pasta at not an expensive price. read more

Everytime I feel like Italian I stop by here. The location is great for a lunch stop. There tends to be a line but the line moves pretty fast. The cost can be a little higher about $15 for lunch but the portions are huge. You have a choice of pasta or sandwhiches. The sandwhiches look really good and again are quite large. We love that it's not the crazy busy hipster-style restaurant people in Edmonton seem to be all about these days. Pasta Brioni has a relaxed, quiet atmosphere where you can go as a couple on a date or a big family looking for good, well-priced food. Boston pizza was our first choice but it was just packed because it was Valentine day so we decided to check out this place.It does look good in the inside but when you look close its all cheap decor.First hint it was gonna be a bad experience was the cooks are not italians but phillipinos or asians,i decided to try the lemon chicken while my guest was having the pizza.The chicken taste microwave straight form frozen with a cheap sauce of top,it cames with ravioli with chef boyarde sauce,just terrible!The pizza dough is again form frozen with fresh topping and some cheap sauce,we didnt finish it it was so awfull.Don`t go there please,save your money,its also so overpriced. read more

I wish I could review the food, but we were unable to order, so I can only review the terrible service. My daughter and I arrived at 3:40 on a Wednesday for some pre game pasta. I didn't notice the hours sign on the door indicating that they close at 4 pm. We went in, and were not greeted in any way. We wandered up to the counter, where another gentelman was awaiting his order. We looked at the chalk board style menu board and it was erased, although there was plenty of hot pasta in the warmers behind the glass. The man mentioned they had erased it because they 'close soon', and 'allowed' him to order. When the woman arrived behind the counter, I said to her I didn't realize they'd be closing soon. She said 'yes, in about 5 minutes' (at 3;45? weird, ok). I asked if it was ok if we ordered and she shrugged. I asked again, is it ok? She shrugged again, and said 'well, we will be closing in 5 minutes. I said he could have some because he said he'd eat quick' (indicating the other gentleman). I said to her, 'so, no then?', and again a shrug. We left, and on the way out saw the sign that indicated a 4 pm close. We were back in our vehicle by 3:43 and she followed us to the door to turn the closed sign around. We have never been there, but passed it many times with intent to try it. We will not bother now. She had pasta cooked, hot, ready to go, and could have sold two orders, which we could have eaten while they cleaned up, cashed out etc. Instead I will assume the food was wasted (or put aside to serve the next day?? Yuck). We run a family operated business, and understand that sometimes things come up and you need to close early due to an emergency or committment. If this is the case, say so, but what happened on Wednesday was simply poor customer service. read more

It's not a fancy upscale restaurant but the food is great. It is packed here everyday between 12-1 because everyone in the area knows how good the food is. It's located beside an industrial area and its consistently busier than BP's next door during the lunch rush. I would put their signature dish (chicken gigi) up against any chicken pasta meal in the city. And I have seen a few Oilers stop by on game day for lunch so its got a good reputation. read more
