I had noticed this place a year or so ago when exploring Peachtree Battle Plaza on foot. I had checked out the menu online recently and noted a dish that I wanted to try. We were in the area after an afternoon museum visit, so we opted to check it out. We did not have reservations so we arrived relatively early (before 5:30 p.m., I think). There is a traffic light on Peachtree Road at Peachtree Battle Ave. If you turn there (into the plaza), then the restaurant is at the bottom of the hill on your left. It is in a separate set of buildings that faces the main plaza shops, which are further back. There are parking spaces adjacent to the restaurant but if those are full, the plaza has plenty of shared spaces. As an unrelated aside, I still miss Oxford Books, which used to be located here. For that matter, it's unfortunate that the Silver Screen Theater is gone too, which was located roughly where this restaurant is now. The place was bustling when we arrived but they did still have a few tables left inside. It appeared that they had tables in the small plaza outside as well, which would be a reasonable option in the Spring / Fall. Our server came by quickly, though he was kept busy and didn't stop by too frequently. My wife opted for the trout and thought it was just okay. I got the apple and goat cheese ravioli, which I quite liked. We also split a salad which we also liked - very fresh. We even tried a dessert, a flourless chocolate cake slice. This was WAY too dense for us! They had a wine selection and I think prices were on the higher side; I just got one glass. Overall prices were a bit high, but given the location (the southern fringe of Buckhead), not out of line with other nearby places. I'd consider returning here, as I liked my dish. I would not get the same dessert. read more

My father's in ICU at Piedmont hospital and Mark and I needed a break from the cafeteria food. We have been coming here for dinner after visiting with my father. It's an easy 5 minute drive north on Peachtree with plenty of free well lit parking. Service and food have been consistently great on every visit. The price to value is great for the quality and portion size. The wine and cocktails are reasonable in price with a nice selection. The calamari, fried zucchini and fresh bread are delicious starters. We have been treating ourselves to the bottle of Chloe Pinot Noir priced at a fair $36. Mark ordered the veal and I had the Pollo Milanese with a side of arugula salad and balsamic dressing. Our food was hot and cooked to order. Dining here is consistently great and we like the proximity to the hospital and free parking. read more

I try to be kind to all businesses as I know how tough running a restaurant can be. Service was great. Its stops there. I'm sorry Calamari was tough, special shrimp with angel hair did not surprise. I almost never go up to Buckhead because I live just far enough away that it's annoying to try to get up there especially on a weekday evening, but I'm glad I went to try this place! Pasta Vino's got a really casual neighborhood vibe that I really enjoyed. We sat out on the patio for dinner on a balmy evening and it was just good vibes. First of all, I totally judge a place by their bread, and the bread basket here is reaaaally good. Super flavorful, a bit garlicky, I was buttering it and dipping it in sauce all night. We even got a second basket. We also got the fried zucchini to start, and while it is not the crispiest, it was lightly breaded, well seasoned, and the sauce it comes with is pretty nice. I'm a sucker for linguine with clams, and so of course I had to get that, and it was pretty damn good! Were the clams the best clams I've ever had? No but we're in a landlocked city and this is not a seafood restaurant. Was I pretty pleased at the end of the meal? Yes I definitely was. They have such a huge menu here, I definitely want to come back and try more. Maybe try some dessert next time. read more

I was staying in downtown Atlanta for a conference and wanted to order in to the hotel. I found Pasta Vino from a quick search and I am thankful I did. This was the best pasta I have had since my trip to Italy! So delicious I ordered the gnocchi in pink sauce, garlic knots, and flourless chocolate cake. Lots of carbs but they were well worth it! I went to Pasta Vino last night (a Saturday night) for the fourth time since July 21. each time prior to last night was a very good experience, food, service, ambience. apparently Saturday nights are NOT a good time to go there. we had a party of 4, as soon as we got a cocktail at the bar, the maitre dee forced us to sit at a table that was out of balance. Our waiter Ahn tried to fix the problem but to no avail. unlike our first visit when Ahn was our server and was excellent, he couldn't seem to get it together last night and the food was not HOT like it was on previous visits. I absolutely love Pasta Vino! While living in Atlanta in the mid-90's, I visited often. This is one of my go-to spots anytime I'm in Atlanta. Everything about this place is fantastic - from the atmosphere to the service to the food! The staff is always friendly and helpful. This is a great place for couples or small groups of friends to gather, have a nice glass of wine, and enjoy some delicious Italian cuisine. The food is always phenomenal! I have never tried something that I didn't like. My most recent trip was no exception. I tried the Smoky Chicken Ravioli and it was perhaps one of the best dishes I've ever had. Seriously, it was amazing! From the smoked chicken to the sauce, the combination was just perfect. I left satisfied and full, while still wanting more because it was just so good. My girlfriend opted for the Chicken Parmesan, and it too was fantastic! I was really looking forward to tonight. I worked at PastaVino with some of the best. So many memories. I wasn't thrilled with the review that was written by new owners in describing PastaVino from the days when the Petrucci's owned the restaurant. And after tonight, I know first hand that you do not hold a candle to the food and the experience that we offered. The tables and chairs were in shambles at opening at 5pm. The dining room was dirty and very disorganized. We sat two tables from the bathrooms but our waiter also waited on tables outside on the patio. He never spoke except to take the order. We waited thirty minutes for refills on drinks. We had to hunt for a salt shaker. Our waiter never explained the specials. He never cleared dirty dishes. You are rated as the best fried calamari but you did away with it. We wanted dessert but never found out what was offered. My point is before you critique others, make sure your house is in order. I understand clearly the challenges in running a restaurant. Ive been working in and around food for almost 35 years. Being organized is at the top of the list. Linguini and clams and rigatoni was spot on. Kudos to the chef. Tomato Caprese app a bit skimpy. read more

This small Italian restaurant is right up the road and a go to for us on a night we don't feel like cooking. The Lamb Bolognese is one of my favorite dishes. The lasagna is another favorite. I had the white fish (pesce) because when I ordered trout he said they were out (nice rhyme). It was a bit too Lemony Snicket but I like lemon so I dealt with it. It's served over pasta. Wifey had the lamb bolognese special. She liked it but said she couldn't tell if it was lamb, beef, veal or buffalo but it was good. I told her lambs are too cute to eat but fish are ugly so I have no problem eating them, as they deserve it. They have wine and beer but only a short list of spirits. Not our first choice, on a Friday Night in Atl, but we did find Pasta Vino while out looking for dinner, and fortunately they had at least one available table for us, which we happily decided to take. Staff were quick to get us our water and complimentary bread. I thought it was interesting that the bread came with butter and while olive oil was on the table, it wasn't poured for the bread, like so many other italian places do. No worries though, as I had hands and could pour my own. After going back and forth on the menu, and having the menu and some of their best selling dishes on the menu pointed out to us, we ordered the following: Goat Cheese & Apple Ravioli ($17) Minestrone zuppe ($7) Lamb bolognese parpardelle ($18) Starting with the Minestrone, the soup came in a cup, and it wasn't bad...it sorta sits in the middle of the road in terms of minestrones i've had. The Lamb bolognese parpardelle wasn't my dish, but I had a couple of tastes of it, and the flavor was there. Very potent flavors, soft noodles, yummy! This was the star dish of the night for me, although it was funny that it seemed we liked each other's dishes better than our own. The Goat Cheese & Apple Ravioli was fantastic with the first bite, but then it got creamy. REAL creamy. Over the ravioli was an apple glaze that made the ravioli apple sweet, and that sweetness cut into the super rich goat cheese, stuffed into the ravioli. I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese myself, but if you love goat cheese, this dish may be yours to order. For me, if the apple glaze was not there, I could not have finished it, and in fact, I didn't finish the ravioli, leaving a few behind. Customer service was just fine here, minus the innocent and mistaken slap they gave to my date, who took it in stride. Service was generally fast, having the soup come out within 5 minutes of ordering, and entrees just a few minutes later. This place is more on the intimate side, having room to seat maybe 30 people inside, although there is patio seating as well. Located in a restaurant strip, parking isn't an issue here, though you likely wont get any parking right in front of the restaurant, but that's okay. There is also at least one red light exit as well. If i'm being honest, i'd give Pasta Vino a 3.5, and i'd round them up to 4 because they had juuuuust enough flavor to make it. Would I come back? Sure. I'd give them a chance to truly earn their 4 stars by selecting another dish that may be not as rich for my tastebuds. I hope I get to try them again soon. read more

Pasta Vino is my absolute favorite restaurant and is the most authentic Italian restaurant I've eaten at in Atlanta. I've spent quite a bit of time in Italy, and I can't tell you how many different tiramisus I've tried around Atlanta, hoping to find something in the true Italian style. Over the course of my 8-year search, Pasta Vino has literally been the only place with authentic, Italian-style tiramisu. And I'm saying, the ONLY place. Also, the best meals I've ever had in Italy were ravioli with some type of fruit ingredient. Just like with the tiramisu, I've always kept my eyes peeled trying to find a ravioli with fruit in Atlanta. I've been able to find some restaurants that have it--but it tasted terrible. Pasta Vino is the only one that does it right. No exaggeration: Pasta Vino's apple and goat cheese ravioli tastes just as good as the ravioli I had at the top-rated restaurants in Florence. We had an experience yesterday with another local restaurant that could not honor a reservation we had made over a month ago for 12 people. Of course, they didn't tell us in advance that they couldn't honor the reservation - they told us when we checked in! We quickly called Pasta Vino to ask if they could help us out an accommodate our group. This was our holiday party for our employees and we couldn't just send everyone home! Pasta Vino to the rescue! The food was fabulous, the service was perfect (our server was Jay) and a great time was had by all! I would highly recommend the muscles in the white wine sauce. It was full of flavor, tons of garlic, herbs, tomatoes, and is a hearty appetizer. The free garlic bread was served warm but you have to pay for dipping sauce. The bread was good only with the marinara. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend anything else here. The wild mushroom soup was a huge mistake. I took a few spoon full scoops and sent it back. It was bitter and didn't look appetizing at all. The spaghetti with meatballs was basic and nothing special. The meatball while it was big, it was mushy and was flavorless. It was well portioned, because my friend an I split the entree. The server is horrible. He was short with us, and we had to ask a few time for water, cheese and oil because he kept forgetting. read more
