What's great little Venetian find. This pastry shop and coffee bar opened in 1935. It's a locals experience to be sure, and that's a great thing. It's a take away sorta place or a stand at the very small space inside or outside. The pastry selection is amazing and delicious. The service was prompt and efficient. While it was crowed it all seemed to work out just fine. When you travel, seek out authentic experiences- that's why you are traveling anyway, right. My family started our Italian trip in Venice. I'm typically a tea drinker but I decided that I would embrace the Italian passion for espresso. I would love to spend my life wandering around Italy having small bites throughout the day. (With some large meals mixed in) Pasticceria Da Bonifacio is just the right place for espresso with a small bite of something delicious to go with it! It's small, clean, and super popular with the local community. They spoke enough English for a pleasant transaction. The place was so good, I went back the next day as well. A true pasticceria experience! There are many locals here, so don't dilly-dally or be indecisive or they will have to move on to a customer who knows what they want. Not that they won't come back. Stand with the locals! It will cost less and taste just as good. read more

Quite a good little place! They have a lot of reasonably priced pastries and baked goods for €1-2. We got a combination of a few items for breakfast for under 5 euro and it was a great deal! This is one of the few places in Venice so far where the staff seemed genuinely friendly toward us as American tourists visiting. So because of the great prices, tasty food, and friendlier people, I'd recommend it! read more

This coffee shop was one of the highlights when we visited Venice last March. Every employee only spoke Italian so know how to communicate a little before you go in. Each morning in Venice my son, daughter and I would come in and order cappuccinos and a cornetto. They had run out of croissants by the time we arrived so they gave us a different pastry each morning and every day they were better and better. We were excited to see what surprise we would get each day. Locals are in and out of here for their daily coffee. Came here after a search of "best bakeries" in Venice - it shows up quite high on Trip Advisor's list. We almost missed it as the sign is very faint. An article/blog post had also pointed me this way, for a macchiatone (a cappuchino with less milk), and pasta con le mandorle - a small piece of almond cake/cookie. Nothing mind blowing, but I appreciated that the barista made my macchiatone special by putting in a heart! Wandering around Venice getting lost in the streets we stumbled upon this pastry shop that was filled with people eating pastries and having some aperitivos, so despite just have had brunch, i insisted on lining up and ordering a some cream filled pastries and campari drinks by pointing at what I wanted. The ladies behind the counters were so nice and spoke no English. The patrons in the shop were all italian and did their best to help me too. After having a little break of standing by the counter eating and drinking with other Italians, my boyfriend pointed at the pez candies hanging from the ceiling and asked me when was the last time I had a pez. Given the reply of "Never", he proceeded to insist that we buy one. I pointed above and used the best Spanish I can muster and asked for the green one, hoping the words are close enough. She understood. So away we went, full and tipsy with some angry bird green pig pez stowed away in our pocket. Needless to say, my boyfriend ate most of the pez himself. Thanks to Yelp we found this spot close to St. Marks Basilica. It is a nice spot for a quick stop for mini pizzas, typical Italian pastries and a good cappuccino. It is very small with no seating just your typical stand at the bar. It's tough to complain with a 1.5€ cappuccino especially when you later travel to Paris and they are 5€. read more

A hidden gem tucked away in tourist central! Bonifacio sells mini pizzas in assorted flavors like funghi, mozzarella, tomato with anchovy. The rest of the store is comprised of sweet pastries and candies. I would highly recommend the chocolate dipped tiramisu and fruit pastry with powdered sugar. read more

One of the best cappuccinos I've had! The pizzette was really good too. The bakery items were decent, but if stopping here again I would make the cappuccino a priority. Take it to the waterfront near St. Mark's Square and enjoy the view while you enjoy! read more

It's hard to find something that feels 'local' in Venice, but this place felt like a neighborhood stop. This was also the best bakery we found in Venice. Until a huge tour group stopped in for waters, it was all locals stopping in for a morning, pastry, and to chat with the women running the shop. They don't speak much English there, so brush up on basic Italian. They are very nice and will work with you if, like me, your Italian consists of only a few words. read more

I absolutely love this place! When I travel to Venice I always try to come here as often as possible. They offer a nice selection of sweet and savoury pastries all day long (ex. pizzette, cakes, traditional Venetian biscuits, petit fours...) but my absolute favourite is the apricot jam filled croissant in the morning. The place is tiny and there is no place to sit, but big deal... It is totally worth it and totally authentic!!! ;-) Locals really love it here! read more

Great for an espresso or afternoon cocktail...This place is tiny and hidden down a not so crowded street.... When we walked in they were surprised to see us since it seems more like a local place...which is why I loved it so much. I am after charm in Italy and if we need an espresso why not go where the locals go is my motto... only a few bar stools so most ate their treats and drank their drinks standing up and enjoying one another. Stop by if you want to get away from the bustle of St. Marks but know its not really a sit down place. Everyone in there were really sweet and gave us excellent customer service. read more
