Caffe Florian is stunning inside and out. It's overpriced because of the historic reputation and location, it is what it is. If you go here, you're going for the experience and you should know what you're in for. They give you a heads up that there is a per person cover charge (8 euros) to sit outside and listen to the orchestra, but the orchestra is incredible I have to say. Just the experience of sitting at a beautiful, historic spot on Piazza San Marcos with the orchestra playing is something in itself. The menu has something for everyone, my husband got a spritz and I had a hot tea. Neither were the best thing we ever had by any means but again, you're there for the experience. I was disappointed the tea was just a tea bag that I had to steep myself. We did not have a reservation, just sat ourselves outside at a table for two. Staff was professional but not particularly quick or friendly.

Located in the Piazza San Marcos, we were able to walk in with no reservations and get a table for 2 - now the section of the restaurant we were seated in the is a tight area with very small tables - large enough to accommodate the silver platter the order is served. The menu is extensive but we were wanting to try the Affogato Florian and get something light for lunch, we ordered the Salmone affumicato del Circle Polare Artico. The Salmon was fresh and had a great smoked flavor, it was a serving enough for 2 people to share or one really hungry person! The Salmon was served with toasted bread and butter. The Affogato Florian came with hot chocolate and a cookie with the restaurant name on it - it was a nice treat to have for the afternoon and whether its cold or hot outside it covers the weather in any situation with hot chocolate and ice cream! Service was on point with the waitstaff in white jackets and were attentive. The ambiance was pleasant with antique mirrors and elegant furnishings - it was an experience to be had in Venice
Oldest running scam in the name of food business. Charge you for the live music , food quality is at best 2 on 5 ( it's not too hard to make a decent apple tarte and it takes a lot to mess it up. Come on guys).. We ordered fruit bowl with ice cream ( coppa estate), apple tarte and an iced coffee ( cafe Freddo) with the coffee being really good while the other two being on the disaster side of the spectrum. Another tourist trap and a result of FOMO!!

Founded in 1720, Caffè Florian is the oldest coffee house in Venice and one of the oldest in the world. Located in Piazza San Marco, it has hosted famous figures like Casanova, Lord Byron, and Charles Dickens. The interior is richly decorated with frescoes, antique mirrors, and elegant furnishings that make it feel like a museum you can sit in. We visited in the morning and sat inside. The ambiance was lovely, with uniformed staff and music from the orchestra outside drifting in. It's clear they take pride in the presentation and history of the place. Our group tried iced coffee drinks along with a small plate of biscotti, which was 18 euros. While everything looked nice, the flavors were very average and definitely not worth the high price. Overall, it's a memorable stop if you're interested in the history and atmosphere. Just go in knowing you're paying for the setting, not the food. If that's not your thing, step inside for a look and a few photos, then move on.

The waiters are dressed to the nines and serve your drinks on a silver trays. I had the perfect seat, people watching in St. Mark's Square while listening to an orchestra play the classics. It was like stepping back in time. Yes, prices are steep, but you're there for the experience, which is priceless.

Oldest cafe in Europe! They serve brunch/tea and many other breakfast and lunch options. Very nice experience. Meal is served on a silver platter by wait staff in white jackets. Macarons were delicate and light and the croissant with tomato and fresh mozarella was perfect for an early afternoon pick me up.
Our visit here was on a list as a must for caffe and sweet treats. Located off of Saint Marks square we were here late morning on a Wednesday so it was not overcrowded. We sat indoors, which ended up being a smidge hot as you will not find AC in many places. So my feeling is mixed here. Service was okay. Not overly friendly but not rude. Prices are steep for what you are getting , even in terms of a tourist area. There was music outside, which we later discovered we got charged for, per head. I needed a restroom, so I will count this visit and our total bill as including a clean restroom visit! So for a Caffe con Panna, a small tray of Italian cookies, a small bottle of coke (15 euro!), the music and some other fees tacked on our bill was 70 euro! Yup, that is right. I will emphasize the nice clean restroom we were able to use and count that as priceless?

Oldest cafe in Venice. For the history alone, it's worth the visit. Food was good as well. On the pricy side of meals we've had while here, so it's a little "touristy" from that aspect. Decor was very pretty and the music out front was a nice touch. read more
The history and the ambiance are of their own this place is lovely and it's alluring. The staff is extremely attentive. The prices are high for a tea, coffee a cocktail and a focaccia. It's 70e But I think stopping is a must read more
Why must you try this place? It is the oldest cafe in Europe, and the whole world, established 1720. It is also the most lavish cafe you will ever step into. It is decorated with gold, mirror and ancient style wall decor. The waiters buzz around with white tuxedos, with food on silver trays. The wait staff seems to be exhausted by the endless tourists, so the service was lukewarm, which is understandable for a place like this. The menu was beautifully printed with photos. The coffee and drinks were pretty good, but they forgot my food entirely. Fortunately my wife and kids never finish theirs. The price was eye watering high. But you have to check out this place in spite of the questionable service. read more

Caffe Florian is an iconic historic cafe and restaurant right on St Mark's Square. We got there right as they opened to guarantee getting a table. Good service and great coffee and sandwiches. You need to go just to say you have been there. read more

The caffe is beautiful and worth a visit to see it! The live music was also such a delight. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Everything however is over priced because of where it's located and its history. But worth the visit in my opinion even if it's for a quick espresso read more

We had this spot on our list of must visit cafes while in Italy and it did not disappoint! We knew that this being the oldest coffee shop in Italy it would likely be busy and pricey and both were true. I don't think that either of those things should take away from anyone's experience as they should be known before deciding to come here. This isn't just an everyday coffee shop were you go for a quick morning espresso. It's a specialty shop with extremely high quality espresso and sweets. We were thoroughly impressed by the affogato which was rich and creamy and paired beautifully with the smooth espresso poured on top by our server. The ambiance is classy, beautiful and unlike any coffee shop we've ever been to. Well worth the visit for any coffee/espresso lovers! read more

I often like to visit places with mixed reviews. One only needs to read between the lines. Our experience to this place was great. It was late February, so it was on the cold size. A perfect time to visit Venice. It is located in San Marco Square. There was a line to get in, but it went by fairly quick. It was quite crowded inside, but after being served, I understood why. It was established in 1720 making it one of the oldest cafés in Venice. The location was decorated beautifully, with antique seats, ornate mirrors and frescos. We each ordered coffees and they were delicious. It was a little pricey but worth it. read more
This very chic cafe right on San Marco Piazza was incredible. It is pricey and they do charge 7€ a person for a seating. Which they politely notify you in advance. We ordered light deli sandwiches, desserts and specialty coffees and they were very delicious and well prepared. The service and presentation was simply superb. As far as the ambience goes , it doesn't get any better than this. A wonderful location to have a lunch in one of the most beautiful venues in Italy. We will not hesitate to visit the Florian when we are back in Venice. read more

If you love afternoon tea or high tea like me then this place is a no brainer to pay a visit to. Caffe Florian has been around for three centuries since 1720 and it is fair to say they know how to run a cafe. Although their pricing is high they offer an experience unlike any other tea houses. It takes you out of the busyness of the city and allows you to indulge in some of their delights. I came here with one other person for some bites and drinks. Their speciality drinks all run about 15 euros or more. But I was impressed with their afternoon tea set options and pricing. They had three types of afternoon tea set pricing menus depending on the time. They had a morning, lunch, and a 3-6pm afternoon tea menu. We went with the 3-6pm afternoon tea menu which was 40 euros per person (without alcohol). My afternoon tea set came with tea, scones, macarons, and some finger sandwiches. Everything in the set was good. I loved that I got a pistachio and raspberry macaron with it that were both delicious. The only thing I did not like was the scone didn't taste like a traditional scone. It was more like a biscuit but it was still delicious with their jam and cream. On the side we also got their mint hot chocolate (17 euros) which was amazing and I highly recommend it if you like mint chocolate. The person I came with go an Affogato Florian (15,50 euros) which they loved. We enjoyed every minute and left satisfied. We did have to stand in line and wait about 30 minutes to get a table. The line is a little annoying because its where people walk but once you get inside the service is excellent. The tables are a little small but its cute inside and everything is presented beautifully. It is worth checking out if you have never been and love afternoon tea but don't go if you're just looking for a coffee shop. read more

Prices were absolutely insane. 12 euro for a cappuccino, 20 euro for a croissant. Not only that, they added a fee of 7 euros per person for the live music without notice. Sitting outside was the only option, had I known we would be charged for the music playing we would not have come. read more

Love "nice" places and go to many. But 19 euro for a mediocre minus cappuccino, 16 euro for a bad hot chocolate and 14 euro for a meh double espresso is stupid. Go elsewhere. It's obnoxious w the prices. read more

We had breakfast here during our Venice trip. Tables quickly fill up, so recommend going sooner than later. They had a live band. Their menu is limited, but they offer some really interesting options for bites/snacks. We had the "La Colazione di Cassanova" platter which brought different assortments of snacks. We loved it and it enjoyed it while listening to the band. They had breakfast up to 11AM and then brunch from 11-1P, and during brunch the menu is a little bit different. read more

Waste of time and money, but beautiful inside! Coffee barely had any espresso in it and was notably bad tasting and watery, spent over 50 euro on 2 coffees and biscottis, 100% would NOT recommend unless you are very interested in the history. Hostess' were very nice but waiter did not care at all. read more

Caffè Florian offers a beautiful indoor ambience, unique velvet banquet seats, surrounded antique mirrors, and wall to ceiling frescos. Had a cappuccino and caprese cornetto (Italian version of a croissant), very delicious and it is a unique experience to have in a caffè dating back to the 1700s. It's a pricey experience, yes but technically you are not going to have breakfast at a fancy caffè everyday. I'd say at least grab an espresso or cappuccino for the views. read more

It was established in 1720 and is the oldest coffeehouse in continuous operation in Italy, and one of the oldest in the world (the oldest being Queen's Lane Coffee House in Oxford, founded in 1654). It was so #overhyped, I st went to Venice pregnant w my 1st daughter n broke w student loan payment, subsequent times still broke w sky high mortgage payment. I didn't think I could afford $20 coffee cappuccinqo or $30 fruit cup coppa mixta or a peach Melba. Well I finally had a #wediditjoe moment n was so disappointed, were they joking or they just abuse the tourists? We each had a$30 item a coffee dessert n a coppa mixta strawberry vanilla icecream. I went inside to take a few pictures n the icecream was melted under a mountain of fake cream, it's not fresh chantilly, a reputable iconic establishment should have but it's straight out of a can! Such a tourist trap, So much media hype, the band was #amazing though. I guess we pay for the live band and ambiance. I'd like to give them 4.5 stars BUT knowing they are the LONGEST running Cafe in the WHOLE WORLD, they deserve full 5 stars. 1. Ambience: clean, upscale and welcoming 2. Food: good, but they don't have a full menu, but rather like a cafe, a basic sandwiches and trays, but all delivered in the most beautiful platter 3. Drinks: strong cocktails and amazing hot chocolate to coffee 4. Live music: this part is the best! They are EXPENSIVE! Hot chocolate or cocktails will cost at least 20 euros read more

The oldest running cafe in the world... Also, possibly the rudest if they are set in their old ways... My friends and I stopped by here and we were trying to find a place to sit. The servers there were dressed nicely, but they were so rude to us. They basically ignored us for as long as they could and used a tone with us like he was annoyed with us for some reason. Maybe they woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but it seemed that they were treating everyone else around us better. Anyways, their awful manners set aside the tea we got was good & the live music was really nice to listen to so that made their rudeness more tolerable. I went to Caffe Florian twice during my trip in Venice and both times was a great experience. The first day I just had some tea and with a sandwich light snack but very good quality. The second day I had afternoon tea which included tea (variety of options), sandwiches (seafood, vegetarian, non-veg options), and desserts (scones, macarons, and whip cream ). The pricing was quite high as you do pay a premium for this 5 star caffe. They also charge for live music which is played right outside. The music creates such a romantic atmosphere so it's very nice to hear as you enjoy your food. The service was also 5 star to the point of even the washroom which had amazing service inside and was very clean overall. The art in this place is also gorgeous I just had to take pictures of it! read more

The prices are extremely high, but the view of the surrounding area in St. Mark's square is worth it. The service is decent, and the cafe doesn't have much food options, simply a few light items like a traditional cafe. This place is a very tourist-trap like place.
