I looked up coffee on my gps and this came up and it was a short walk from my hotel. They were very friendly and service was prompt. Getting a cappuccino, pistachio croissant, chocolate croissant and they guy got me to get an oj was a great move. Filling and refreshing. The oj looked like carrot juice and had a lot of pulp which i'm not in to but it was fresh and delicious. I drank it all. Great stop. read more

We only went to Caffe del Doge because we had time to kill before our reservation nearby. It was a very cold day and a hot chocolate sounded good. I got that along with a chocolate croissants. The person I went with got an espresso. My hot chocolate with cream was pretty good and it went great with their warm delicious chocolate croissant. We paid about 10 euros for two drinks and a croissant. They had lots of drinks to choose from a plenty of pastries made and ready to be eaten. There is some indoor seating and some outdoor. It's hard to snag a table on a busy day though. We ended up sitting outside but we had to be cautious of the aggressive pigeons in front. Still worth checking out the cafe though. read more

I spent every morning of my trip to Venice in this cafe, meaning I enjoyed three Doge cappuccinos while taking in the scenery and journaling. Venice was the start of my trip so I was still adjusting to the process. Do I sit and wait? Order at the bar then sit? Stand at the bar? I figured it out by day two with an assist from the staff that I sit and have someone come to me, unless standing at the bar. You pay more for this, but it was worth it to me to sit and enjoy the morning. Even so, my cappuccino was a different price all three days I came in here. The first day (when I was confused and likely pissing off the staff) I ordered at the bar, sat, then went up to pay, and my total was 1,50. The next day, table service, 3,50. The next day, same table service...2,50! It was confounding so be sure to check prices in the doorway for table vs. standing service for all items to ensure you know what you're paying. That being said, my cappuccino was always delightful and the staff here is really friendly. You can't beat the views in the outdoor area and it's one of the better options in the main tourist area of Venice. There's great pastries as well, that I did not partake in. Enjoy! read more

This is a fun little coffee shop near the Rialto bridge. It is on a little side but finding it is well worth it! We had some great cappuccino and pastries and enjoyed the atmosphere. They have their logo on everything (which you can buy) and there is something very cool about it. All in all, a great spot to visit when you go across the Rialto, which you are absolutely going to want to do! read more

I was seeking a second caffeinated beverage that morning and ended up at Caffè del Doge before checking out the Rialto Bridge. Love the staff here. After I ordered my cappuccino and lemon cake at the counter, they told a few people to move their bags so I could have a place to sit. The lemon cake was SOOO good. Good spot to do some work from and good quality coffee. A little overpriced on the Cuban espresso pour (nearly 5 euros), but they were upfront about it and I was really craving some. Don't go to this place at all. The curly haired lady informed us to sit down if we were going to have it there, we did. She informed us someone will be with us. 10 customers have already come and gone and we were still not served. At one point she looked directly at us. Don't go here the worst experience ever. As much as I enjoyed the coffee, the lady with the black curly hair(she was there everytime we went) needs to learn how to talk to people. She is so rude, I've seen numerous reviews about her. I did not understand something she said and she looked at me like I was stupid and talked to me like a child. We had another group of friends go without us one morning and they came back talking about about her as well. I watched her rudely speak to multiple customers. I'm assuming she is owner/family to the owner as there's reviews about her that date back years ago. Unwelcoming restaurant environment and coffees which were average at best. When my friend and I came in we sat on a couch and pushed two tiny tables together. As soon as we did so, a lady told us that we can't do that and have to sit across the table from one another although we were the only customers in the restaurant and told us to move to another table across the room. The coffees and espressos were served in rather small shot glass ish sizes but were all about €5-€8 euro. I ordered 3 coffees/espressos and was unimpressed with all of them. I don't remember the names but I could taste the mocha powder used in one of them, one of them was overpowered by an excess of macadamia nut bits, and the last one tasted sour. The macadamia nut one was probably the only one I kind of liked but I can't justify paying that much for some mediocre tasting coffee shots. I wouldn't recommend this cafe unfortunately. read more

Despite the positive Yelp reviews we read prior to our visit, we were distinctly disappointed with Caffè del Doge. The venue is hidden away in an alley, set just back from the canal, which we thought was very promising. We took a seat at one of the vacant outside tables and waited for one of the servers to notice us. While we did eventually manage to get noticed by one of the waitresses, she proceeded to attend to other customers, and didn't come over to greet us for close to twenty minutes! When we were finally acknowledged and placed a order for some caprese and a ham & cheese pastry, the food took another thirty minutes to arrive; when it came it was bland and largely tasteless. To add insult to injury, the coffees we order to accompany our food never arrived. The sub-par level of service we received was made more unacceptable by the fact that the café was less than half full at the time of our visit. Tip: While the prices at this café are much better than most prime canal-side cafés I've seen in Venice, the unacceptable quality of the food and the service make this establishment one I can't recommend. read more

This place is a gem, they serve pretty good coffees here. Seems like a place where the locals hang out. I had their special Marrachino coffee, it's latte with chocolate sprinkles on it. Place is kind of small and cosy but good for small groups of 4-5 people. They serve a variety of cakes, ice creams and some salads too. Great for an afternoon tea snack and place to take a break. They also sell their coffee beans too if you'd like to take some back as a souvenir :) It's not that hard to find (if you have a map), it's at a corner side street but had a sign. I walked all over Venice. There are tons of cafes..and many of them are great. This one stood out to me since it was in a smaller less traveled side street. It had minimal seating outside (only a few tables) and the inside was also small and patronized by mostly locals. All the marks of a good thing. I came by in the morning for a cappuccino and pastry. It was a little busy but it didn't take long to get my coffee and food. I sat at a table outside and enjoyed it. I am not the biggest coffee drinker so I can't say with confidence how great the cappuccino was but I sure as hell enjoyed it. read more

I had their traditional hot chocolate (barista recommended) and it was delicious! It was a bit thick and rich so it took a while to drink. The tiramisu was a little bit better than ok. It's a cute, small cafe and it does tend to get crowded. The tables are quite small so it's not ideal to just sit and hang out. The barista I had was very nice and gave me a few recommendations. Caffe del Doge is a great little Cafe down a side-street near the Rialto Bridge (fantastic and NOT full of other tourists - win!). The staff are friendly (especially regarding my limited Italian!), and they have an enormous and exciting Coffee menu that is absolutely worth stopping in and checking out when feeling like a refresher late into the afternoon after a day of exploring the city. Although every option looked good, their cinnamon-loaded Cappuccino won the day and won my heart, influencing how I'll look to sweeten my coffees forever more. read more

I was planning on going to Caffe Florian or Caffe Lavena to get the historical/touristy experience but couldn't bring myself to pay 7€ for a coffee (on top of whatever they charge you to sit there). I'm glad I found Caffe del Doge! For the same price I got a sizeable cappuchino and affogato. They also sell beans here, and one of the baristas helped me choose which was better to get if I preferred milk in my coffee (one of their 3 Doge blends) vs. not (any of the single origins).
