I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this grocery store! When you first enter the store, you'll see that they carry a variety of vegetables and fruits that you would have difficulty finding elsewhere. Among other produce, I found jackfruit, amaranth leaves, mustard greens, and lotus root. So happy. Given that beans and grain should be the staple of a healthy diet, Patel Brothers sells beans and grains truly in bulk - by 5, 10, and 20 lb bags. They also sell a Medjool dates in bulk - yum. They have an over-the-top abundance of everything you need for Indian cuisine. Huge freezer section with prepared foods. If someone sees you looking aimlessly around (in wonder) they will ask you if you need help finding something. Don't expect a glamorous store. It is immaculate. The parking is limited but I can always find a spot. Worth the drive to come and explore what this store offers! read more

Great place for a one stop indian grocery shopping. I found the bangladeshi "HILSA" or Ilish fish in the store and bought a pack. We go there once a month and stock up. Avoid weekends as it gets very busy with all the apartments crowd nearby. read more

TOTALLY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Reasonably priced, every type of spice under the sun (ok, almost), fresh produce, friendly service. Go to their website and you will find recipes galore. I have driven by it gizzilian times and never stopped in. Today I pulled in to look for bulgur and filled my cart with frozen goodies, spices, FRESH FRUITS AND VEGGIES (CHEAP!). Worth stopping by! 3.80001 stars I go here a couple times a month it's a short drive and the prices are better than some of the smaller stores nearby. I also find it more friendly than those smaller stores. It is a full service Indian market, but not quite a Supermarket. I thought Patel business was strictly hotels but this is a major chain and a value supplier at that. DON'T go on Saturday mornings unless you love you fellow man so much that you want to hang out with them in long lines. My first time I was buying packet meals for my lunch and the checker pointed out that I had not maximized my savings, I appreciated that. * Vegetables are an arbitrage opportunity vs Supermarkets. Not just Asian/Indian items but onions, potatoes, and garlic etc are a value. * I think you can do better on the rice at BJs or other Asian/Indian stores closer to Boston, but if you making just one stop... * Truly a Spice Heaven and they have bulk sizes. Stock up. * Frozen and packaged meals have largest variety and best prices. * Be careful in the parking lot, it tends to be chaotic. read more

Absolutely fantastic indian grocery. Extremely clean and very very well lit (see my pics). Excellent selection of high quality fresh veggies and herbs. I found a lovely pile of bitter melons and a bunch of perfect daikon radish (sorry i dont know any other terms for these veg). An immense and varied selection of chaat and assorted snacks. I grabbed several types of papadum and naan. I was happy to find the tubs of fermented idli and dosa batter in the fridge. Im not into sweets but did notice they filled the shelves and fridge. Additionally, they stock Indian dry-goods like various snack mixtures, flours, lentils, etc. Patel Brothers not only carries groceries, but they also have various Indian health and beauty products including but not limited to: soaps, body creams, hair dyes, etc. The store covers all your Hindu religious needs by stocking items like incense sticks and other such religious necessities. The weekends are busiest as one would expect. Unfortunately they don't have any fresh samosas or any other fresh foods at the counter. read more

Patel Brothers really is a one-stop-shop for Indian groceries. They have a complete selection of anything you can possibly need for Indian cooking at home. The store is clean, the prices are fair or inexpensive compared to competitors, and the service is efficient and maybe even overly helpful (the register lady, amused that a non-Indian was attempting to make idli (a minimum two-day process), actually left her register duty and the long line that was queuing up to give me a lecture on how to improve my idli recipe and a mini-personal shopper experience, loading up my arms with everything I needed for the idli.... talk about persuasive!). Worth the drive to stock up on goodies. read more

Good place for Indian groceries. Also, 2-3 miles away, they have another Indian grocery+food court store called 'Indian Market'.

I would like to like this store. However, once I had returned something (the package was open), I felt like they are going to repackage the items and put it back on shelf. (No health inspectors here!) Later on, I found out that the package marked as patel brothers are repackaged items! Bought one of them by mistake but will never buy anything branded Patel Brothers. read more

Although this store primarily serves South Asian/ Indian customers, I can find fresh vegetables that are common in American cuisine. I often see Chinese and Japanese people here too. I found daikon (Asian white radish) and koimo (Asian sweet potato) which I use to make some healthy meals. Unfortunately, I am afraid to buy anything else because I don't know how to make Indian food... If they let us try samples and show us what to buy, I would love to try. read more

This place is a mad house on the weekend. You would think that they would have fresh vegetables for sale with some many people shopping. Looked like it was a week old. I asked if they can get fresher vegetables from the back. I was told that they can not and they have to wait till the old ones sold first. I think that is BS. The only good think about this place is that you can find almost ever indian spice you need. But good luck finding anyone to help you find what you are looking for. Its almost like a maze in there. This place needs to be reorganized. read more

Be cautious they will try to bill you extra items which you have not purchased and billing girls are very rude and they don't have courtesy to say thanks after billing they feel that they are doing big favor to us. Many times you will not find any carts inside the store either we have to get it from outside or we have to wait for much time (if we are lucky we may get it in 30 mins). After purchase here is no place to place the cart, all the people leave the carts in the parking lot which makes scratches to our cars. Overall my experience with the store is very bad. read more

This has been a wonderful procuring source... in particular the milk and yogurt. It is hard to beat $1.99 for a gallon of milk and a quart of good, rich yogurt for a measure more than $2. Also a wonderful selection of different flours and meals for me to experiment with... and whole spices in bulk. A half pound of cloves or star anise for $6 and $4 respectively? Sure! The selection of produce is a measure low, but reasonably priced for what they have. Quality level and selection is comparable to most Asian markets, with less greens. However, where this place dominates is in the rice and grains. They dedicate an entire aisle to such with a venerable selection of largely basmatis of different origins. Dry goods are a majority of the market, but this would be a wonderful place to shop for any vegetarian, with the legumes and beans available giving plenty of choices for proteins. The frozen aisle is about 1/3 prepared foods, 1/3 frozen vegetables, and the remainder being ice creams and frozen treats. The level of cleanliness is high, though the only real issue I see with this market is one I personally do not have... needing to see high for a lot of items. The shelves are flat and many of the items are above my eye height, shelved by weight more than popularity, it seems, so those of a shorter stature may have difficulty making their choices. read more

Horrible service! Just bought about $50 worth of groceries. Woman at the register bags the lightest of the stuff into one paper bag. Sets aside 8 other items (weighing about 4 pounds each). When we ask if she is going to bag them, she says no. They are too heavy for the paper bag (like we expected her to put everything into one bag). Then she says something about not having plastic bags anymore and that we have to bring in our own bag (Shrewsbury recently did away with plastic bags). She said the bags cost 30 cents and that they were going to start charging for the bags soon! Service has always been terrible here, but it is closer than India Market for us. Guess we will travel the extra distance or get through Amazon. Don't expect great service at this store! read more
