Patelco Credit Union has a great history. Originally serving employees of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company (now AT&T), they opened their membership to the public in 1983 and now have branches throughout Northern California. My grandfather, who retired from AT&T, has banked with Patelco for years, and now I'm proud to continue that tradition. The Fairfield branch has been outstanding. I initially came in looking for a car loan, and the team was able to secure me a competitive APR with a smooth, stress-free process. Since then, I've also opened both checking and savings accounts. What impressed me most was how much time the staff took to educate me. Instead of simply opening accounts, they explained how to use each one effectively to help me reach my financial goals. I left feeling more confident about managing my money and planning for my future. Excellent customer service, knowledgeable employees, and a genuine commitment to helping members succeed financially are what set Patelco apart. Don't normally have an issue coming into Patelco but one of the gentlemen at this location should perhaps brush up on how to address debt in a polite manner. I'm on a fixed income not by choice. I felt a bit sundered, especially when that fixed income is a result of a motorcycle accident, sometimes we go into the negative but don't give me poor service or a scowl for it. He responded quickly, often even outsite regular office hours, and explained every loan detail in away that was easy to understand and tailored to our situation. I arrived at my local patelco branch in Fairfield today at 3:47 with my eager 6 year old to open up his own patelco account. Wasn't greeted (aside from security, he greeted us and was kind). We waited forever one of the two open tellers, as the third was assisting someone else. When I asked about opening a youth account she told me they close in 5 minutes. I look at my watch and we have 10 minutes until closing. I wasn't aware they closed at 4, but nonetheless ten minutes and she said it would take 20 minutes so if we could come back. Yet people are still walking into the bank, since it's not 4 yet. They get served. I've banked with patelco for years, since my own youth account. So disappointed especially with no weekend hours. read more

I have liked and used Patelco for 5 years now. However last Monday my daughter went to withdraw some money and they were closed. Today I needed to make a withdrawal and my daughter said she thought they were still closed. I thought what in the heck. I tried a google search and it said temporarily closed. I called the branch 3 times just got voice mail. I called the main office and was on hold over 40 minuets before I gave up. Went to the branch and they actually were open but a line down the street. When I finally made it to a teller I asked why they were closed. I was told they were closed for several days because of short staffing. I asked why no answer when I called the branch and a 40 plus hold ( well that's where I gave up) at the main office. I was told because they are busy. I asked what if I absolutely needed to make a withdrawal. I was told there is a branch in Concord. I m a little shocked this happened. I do not understand why they couldn't have left an outgoing message on their phone system as to what was going on and when they would reopen. Now what if a customer didn't have a way to get to Concord? I did nt close my accounts today but believe me if I ever have to go to Concord to make a withdrawal I will withdraw every cent and go elsewhere. This has made me wonder if Patelco is solvent and if my money is safe there read more

I've been a member of Patelco for 10+ years now and the staff is always friendly. I'm only giving them three stars because of the staff there. Even though I have excellent credit and a long history with Patelco I was quoted an auto loan with a high rate, but when I applied with another local credit union was able to finance the same vehicle with only a 1.9% APR. I'm wondering if my last name has something to do with being declined a loan. I have more in savings than the amount of loan requested, make enough to pay all of my obligations and have a good credit score. Not to mention I have a degree in accounting. My only thought is that the credit unions lending department is racially bias. read more

First the parking is horrible at this location. I am severely disabled and could not use my wheelchair as I could not find a spot wide enough available. I walk into the branch to a banker who is free with my loan payment coupon in hand and asked about getting an ATM card to make these payments she sends me to the teller window to get the card. I have to wait in line with my cane in hand. I walk up to the teller window and there is no Ada compliant windows. The teller doesn't know how to order the card. So she goes to get help. At this point I can't stand any longer. I express my situation with the teller and she tells me to have a seat in the lobby. The lobby chairs have no arms. If I sit there I will never be able to get back up. So I sit at a bankers desk. The teller gives me my receipt and tells me my card will come in the mail. I come home only to get a call from the bank saying I can't make payments to my loan thru the ATM. As having only a savings account with a one dollar in it. She states I would have to deposit in my savings then transfer it to my loan. I question whether they will put a hold on it. She says she can't confirm whether or not they will. I am glad that I only will have to deal with this credit union for a few months it's just a headache beyond Four months later no changes to help the disabled. I've been in with my wheelchair but have to yell at the teller so she or he can hear me as my head bearly reach the counter. This credit union sucks. I have now filed an ada complaint read more

Third time is the charm! I am leaving Patelco after a long history of attempting to make it work. The first straw was when they charged me a higher rate on my auto loan. My credit is excellent except for a $20 collection from over 7 years ago for DSL that was never hooked up. Despite my desire to do everything with Patelco, they consistently ding me with higher rates despite my 780 credit score. The second was when they lost a deposit I made in another credit union ATM. After several weeks of attempting to get credit, I finally demand that they return the money to me which they ultimately did. The third was when I opened a credit card with them and attempted a balance transfer. I made two, and one posted within 3 days. The other was lost in the mail. I was required to go to the branch and execute a notarized statement for both Patelco AND CHASE - the intended recipient. I was required to get Chase to sign the form. read more

This situation has been an headache right from the very beginning, starting with the branch restricting my account due to my credit score of 550 cumulative , I ask at the time could I at least use my mobile service thru ie; Google Wallet, Zelle , instant pay w/ Uber and the rep said yes but I haven't been allowed to use it. Ok the branch manager Heather went ahead and unrestricted my card so I'm allowed to use those mobile services, but the damage was already done because Tmobile kept trying to put in a payment back from 2/19/18 which I paid from my U.S. bank acct and just yesterday 2/26/18 Tmobile put the payment back in for the same amount that I've already paid thru U.S. bank, then this morning I asked the Patelco phone banker to fix this since it overdrew my account and caused my other "$9.99" Spotify transaction to pay but with another overdraft fee and it's absolutely bogus to take the customer's money and then blame them, phone banker lead Laura in Central Valley and further more a supervisor Keisha shouldn't have positions with Patelco, they're rude as hell, disrespectful, sarcastic, very cavalier about my situation and so with all of this they had my account flagged to be closed which none of this is my fault since this elementary restrictions were incorrectly put on in the first place, I'll like to file a complaint against Patelco and I'll hope to speak to the branch manager again about this situation to see if they're willing to resolve it, thanks again for ruining my morning Patelco!!! read more

They will get you a car loan but if you ever need to trade down and your credit score is messed up (which is why you want to trade down so you can get your finances in order) they will decline the trade down loan. So instead of being exposed for $25K, which they now still are, they could have been exposed for only $18K, the brain trust declined the loan. Makes no sense. Well at least this is the last loan (or anything else) I will ever have with them. read more

My husband has been a member here for over 15 years and has nothing but good things to say. When we married, we combined accounts and went with Patelco because I've had horrific experiences with Bank of America (aka Satan incarnate, but don't get me started). This branch particularly is great. It's relatively small, but efficient. The people are friendly and professional, the services are great, and the free checking/savings accounts are easy to use. They have online banking, of course, which is also a breeze, and one thing I especially love is that there's NO LIMIT on transfers between your bank accounts! So maybe I like to shuffle money around sometimes. They don't judge me. ;) Anyway, good credit union, good customer service, quick and easy every time. You have to be a member to apply for a loan here and it is easy to do, just open a bank account. Today I applied for another loan (I've already had paid off two previous ones). I initially applied on-line and was approved within 24 hours. They didn't approve me for the amount I requested so I went to a branch and reapplied. I was told they are having a special on personal loan at the rate of 5.99% which is an amazing deal!!! The Assistant Manager who assisted us was great. She told us we looked good and thought the initial approval was an auto reply. So she took the time to enter in additional information and scan checks. She said they would get back to us in 3 days cause Monday was a Holiday. So we left hopeful. Later that after my husband encouraged me to check my email and we had a response, yay! They approved us for the full amount within the day we applied, now that's great customer service. Thanks Patelco!!! read more

I have been a member of Patelco for over a year and I have not had one bad experience. They are very fast and efficient with transactions and friendly as well. Shameana is remarkable at providing the best service one could expect. She goes above and beyond what is required. She is very knowledgeable and understanding. Alyssa is patient and very charming. I say the online reviews about this bank so when I moved to fairfield, I signed up to open an account. Everything is fine and the tellers are ok. Until, I tried getting a hold of customer service. I don't know the branch number, so I looked online. To my surprise, there was only an 800 number, not the local branch. I only needed my account and routing number. I waited over half an hour and they finally called. By that time, I decide to just go home and get the info myself. I gave them the benefit of doubt because people say good things about tjis bank. Out of curiosity, I called again, I waited another 45 minutes before someone calling me back. The next day, I went to our local branch in Fairfield, ca. I had to ask the teller to get their local branch number since it's not published on the Internet. Just today, the branch closes at 2pm and I call the local branch 3 minutes before they close and no surprise, no one answered the phone. There wasn't even a recorded message. I wanted to call them to see if I can still drop by 2 minutes after they are close since I'm already at their parking lot. The security guard refuse to open the door for me. Needless to say this bank suck and they have zero customer service. Will be looking for a bank that wants my business. read more
